The Climate Change Hoax Has Run It’s Course, And Can Now Take Its Place With ‘Ice Age’ Predictions From 1970’s

The descent of climate change into the abyss of social-justice identity politics represents the last gasp of a cause that has lost its vitality. Climate alarm is like a car alarm—a blaring noise people are tuning out. This outcome was predictable. We saw this in the 70’s with the Ice Age scare that never happened.

Climate change is over. No, I’m not saying the climate will not change in the future, or that human influence on the climate is negligible. I mean simply that climate change is no longer a pre-eminent policy issue. All that remains is boilerplate rhetoric from the political class, frivolous nuisance lawsuits, and bureaucratic mandates on behalf of special-interest renewable-energy rent seekers.

As a teenager in the 70’s, how well I remember the headlines blaring the news that man-caused global freezing was about to take place. Yes, we had fake news back then, too. The reason stated at that time, according to science, was our overuse of aerosol spray products which was eating a hole in the ozone layer. This was going to bring about another ice age. Hmmm, still waiting as I purchase products in the supermarket in aerosol containers.

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:10 (KJV)

Flash forward to the Al Gore Age, with the PowerPoint that scared the Liberal world into, no, not stopping global warming climate change, but making him fabulously wealthy many, many times over. The Millennial generation, who are famously long on outrage and short on history, were easy pickings for the climate con man from Tennessee. Favorite moment from the global warming climate change hoax? When Al Gore sold his television channel, Current TV, to an Arabian petroleum company. Wait, aren’t oil companies the ‘bad guys”? Ho, ho, ho, don’t you know…people love to be fooled.

Climate Change Has Run Its Course

FROM THE WSJ: Judged by deeds rather than words, most national governments are backing away from forced-marched decarbonization. You can date the arc of climate change as a policy priority from 1988, when highly publicized congressional hearings first elevated the issue, to 2018. President Trump’s ostentatious withdrawal from the Paris Agreement merely ratified a trend long becoming evident.

A good indicator of why climate change as an issue is over can be found early in the text of the Paris Agreement. The “nonbinding” pact declares that climate action must include concern for “gender equality, empowerment of women, and intergenerational equity” as well as “the importance for some of the concept of ‘climate justice.’ ” Another is Sarah Myhre’s address at the most recent meeting of the American Geophysical Union, in which she proclaimed that climate change cannot fully be addressed without also grappling with the misogyny and social injustice that have perpetuated the problem for decades.

This outcome was predictable. Political scientist Anthony Downs described the downward trajectory of many political movements in an article for the Public Interest, “Up and Down With Ecology: The ‘Issue-Attention Cycle,’ ” published in 1972, long before the climate-change campaign began. Observing the movements that had arisen to address issues like crime, poverty and even the U.S.-Soviet space race, Mr. Downs discerned a five-stage cycle through which political issues pass regularly.

  • STAGE ONE: The first stage involves groups of experts and activists calling attention to a public problem, which leads quickly to the second stage, wherein the alarmed media and political class discover the issue.
  • STAGE TWO: The second stage typically includes a large amount of euphoric enthusiasm—you might call it the “dopamine” stage—as activists conceive the issue in terms of global peril and salvation. This tendency explains the fanaticism with which divinity-school dropouts Al Gore and Jerry Brown have warned of climate change.
  • STAGE THREE: Then comes the third stage: the hinge. As Mr. Downs explains, there soon comes “a gradually spreading realization that the cost of ‘solving’ the problem is very high indeed.” That’s where we’ve been since the United Nations’ traveling climate circus committed itself to the fanatical mission of massive near-term reductions in fossil fuel consumption, codified in unrealistic proposals like the Kyoto Protocol. This third stage, Mr. Downs continues, “becomes almost imperceptibly transformed into the fourth stage: a gradual decline in the intensity of public interest in the problem.”

While opinion surveys find that roughly half of Americans regard climate change as a problem, the issue has never achieved high salience among the public, despite the drumbeat of alarm from the climate campaign. Americans have consistently ranked climate change the 19th or 20th of 20 leading issues on the annual Pew Research Center poll, while Gallup’s yearly survey of environmental issues typically ranks climate change far behind air and water pollution.

“In the final stage,” Mr. Downs concludes, “an issue that has been replaced at the center of public concern moves into a prolonged limbo—a twilight realm of lesser attention or spasmodic recurrences of interest.” Mr. Downs predicted correctly that environmental issues would suffer this decline, because solving such issues involves painful trade-offs that committed climate activists would rather not make.

A case in point is climate campaigners’ push for clean energy, whereas they write off nuclear power because it doesn’t fit their green utopian vision. A new study of climate-related philanthropy by Matthew Nisbet found that of the $556.7 million green-leaning foundations spent from 2011-15, “not a single grant supported work on promoting or reducing the cost of nuclear energy.” The major emphasis of green giving was “devoted to mobilizing public opinion and to opposing the fossil fuel industry.”

Scientists who are genuinely worried about the potential for catastrophic climate change ought to be the most outraged at how the left politicized the issue and how the international policy community narrowed the range of acceptable responses. Treating climate change as a planet-scale problem that could be solved only by an international regulatory scheme transformed the issue into a political creed for committed believers. The work on the ‘Maria’s Hope’ vegetable garden at the Glory Fellowship Orphanage in Kenya has been going on every day this week with wonderful progress

This week, the acre-wide property at the Glory Fellowship Orphanage in Kisii, Kenya has seen a flurry of activity as volunteers first cleared the land and removed the brush, cut down trees to uses for fence posts, and then strun barbed wire all around it to keep curious animals out. The only thing left to do is to plant the seeds and seedlings which is scheduled for tomorrow. NTEB is answering the “Macedonian call” by helping them through Operation Africa!, and it’s been a blessing for the giver as well as the reciever. When complete, it will feed all the 84 orphans while supplying a work-based revenue stream when they sell the overflow produce at market. We are not just giving them a fish, we are giving them the abiity to become fishermen themselves.

“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.” Acts 16:9 (KJB)

When we first recieved the request for Bibles 4 months ago, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that this is what it would become. But God sure did. All He required from us was to show up and be faithful, and He’s been doing the rest. Supplying them first with Bibles, then medicine to treat malaria and typhoid, getting them a well and tank for clean water, mattresses and blankets, emergency food rations, and now ‘Maria’s Hope’ vegetable garden. This is the complete package.

With your help, I would love to be able to provide them with a cow, a goat and a couple of dozen chickens to go with all the vegetables we are helping them to plant. Maria’s Hope Takes Root In Kenya As Operation Africa! Helps Orphans Build A Sustainable Source Of Food For Their Future

Maria’s Hope is exactly what Operation Africa! was created to do, take the love of Jesus Christ and put it into the hands of people who desperately need to see it working. At the Glory Fellowship Orphanage in Kenya, these young people are not standing around waiting for another shipment of food to arrive. They are clearing the ground, breaking up the soil, pulling roots, swinging hoes and preparing a garden that, Lord willing, will continue producing long after the first seeds are planted. This is not simply feeding hungry children for one day; this is helping them build a renewable source of food that can keep feeding them tomorrow, next month and next year. Maria’s Hope is about turning a piece of Kenyan soil into provision, stability and opportunity. Come help us complete this live-saving mission of hope.

The garden will include seeds and plantings for cabbage, spinach, kale, carrots, managu, sagaa, and of course, lots and lots of fertilizer. As you can see in this video, the work of preparing the ground began in earnest this morning. But Maria’s Hope will be more than just produce. Lord willing, and just like we did for Irad in Uganda, we need to get them a cow, a goat and maybe some chickens as well. The beautiful little girl you see in the photo at the top of this article is Maria, and we are naming this garden project in her honor. She is one of 15 orphans at Glory Fellowship who have HIV/AIDS, along with a total of 84 orphans that live at the residence. They need this more than you could possibly imagine.

And this is why Maria’s Hope may become one of the most meaningful projects we have undertaken through Operation Africa! We are not simply sending something that will eventually run out. We are helping create something that can grow. Seeds become plants, plants become food, food becomes strength, and strength allows children to learn, work, worship and build a future. And all of it begins with a patch of red African soil, willing hands, generous NTEB listeners and readers, and a desire to put the gospel of Jesus Christ into action. This is missions work you can see, this is faith you can put your hands on. This is Maria’s Hope. We will need to raise between $5,000-10,000 to bring this garden to completion all told, and when it’s done, it will be there as long as the orphanage survives. Come help us!!
