A bill has been introduced in the Vermont state Senate that would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to use or possess a cellphone.

Liberals are a funny sort of creature, from their name you would think they would be all about freedom and liberty, perhaps that was true at one time but it is certainly not true in our day. In 2020 being a Liberal means you are wanting either a Socialist or Communist form of government, both systems being antithetical to both freedom and liberty. Now in Bernie Sanders, Socialist candidate for president, state of Vermont comes a bill that would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to not only own a cell phone but even to be caught using one. Fascist, much?

Now imagine what a Bernie Sanders presidency would look like, because that’s what you’ll get,.

Bill would ban cell phone use for those under 21 in Vermont

FROM THE TIMES ARGUS: The Vermont bill, S.212, would make such possession or use a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of a year behind bars and a $1,000 fine.

It said cell phone use while driving is one of the leading killers of teenagers. It also said young people use cellphones frequently to bully and threaten each other, something that has been linked to suicides.

“The Internet and social media, accessed primarily through cell phones, are used to radicalize and recruit terrorists, fascists, and other extremists. Cell phones have often been used by mass shooters of younger ages for research on previous shootings,” the bill reads.

The bill said the Legislature has concluded those under 21 years old “aren’t mature enough” to possess guns, smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol and the same should apply to cellphone use. The state recently increased the smoking age to 21 and barred those under 21 from buying a gun unless they take a hunter safety course.

The bill was introduced by Sen. John Rodgers, D-Essex-Orleans. Rodgers said Wednesday he introduced the bill to make a point.

“I have no delusions that it’s going to pass. I wouldn’t probably vote for it myself,” he said.

He said he’s a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and the Legislature “seems bent on taking away our Second Amendment rights.” He said, based on the information presented in the bill, a cellphone is much more dangerous than a gun.

The bill talks about suicide and suicide prevention was a major talking point when the Legislature passed a bill requiring a 24-hour waiting period to buy a handgun. Gov. Phil Scott vetoed the legislation and it’s not expected to be taken up again this session.

Michelle Fay is the executive director of Voices for Vermont’s Children, an organization based out of Montpelier that promotes public policy that enhances the lives of children and youth in the state.

Fay issued a statement saying, “There are so many critical issues impacting the lives of working families in Vermont today, from increasing minimum wage to implementing equitable family and medical leave insurance programs to establishing an office of child advocate. We urge the Legislature to focus on the important work at hand instead of getting tied up in hollow diversions.”

She said in an interview Wednesday there’s no question technology plays a role with children treating each other badly, but isolating cellphones doesn’t seem to make sense because they will still be able to use computers.

America At A Political Crossroads As Democratic Socialists Make Their Move And History Warns What Happens When Extremes Turn Fear Into Power

The Democratic Party spent years feeding the radical Left, excusing its rhetoric, empowering its activists and pretending that socialism was merely a more compassionate form of liberalism. Now the movement is growing beyond the party’s control. The Democratic Socialists of America are no longer content to protest from the sidelines; they want candidates, political offices, institutions and eventually the machinery of government itself. The Democratic establishment believed it could use the socialists for votes, but the socialists appear determined to use the Democratic Party as their vehicle to power.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34 (KJB)

That places America at a dangerous political crossroads. Germany faced its own version of this crisis during the collapse of the Weimar Republic, when communist revolutionaries and militant nationalists battled for control of a frightened, divided and economically wounded nation. The rise of communism terrified millions of Germans, and Adolf Hitler exploited that fear by presenting the Nazi Party as the only force strong enough to restore order. The radicals on the Left strengthened the radicals on the Right, and the radicals on the Right used the threat from the Left to justify increasingly authoritarian power.

That is the trap now beginning to appear in America. As the revolutionary Left becomes louder, more aggressive and more openly hostile toward capitalism, private property, law enforcement and the constitutional order, millions of Americans will naturally demand someone strong enough to stop it. But desperation can make a nation surrender its liberties to the very leaders who promise to save it. One side declares that the system must be dismantled, while the other insists that extraordinary power is necessary to preserve it. In that atmosphere, constitutional restraints begin to look like weaknesses, political opponents become enemies and authoritarianism is marketed as protection.

Mao Zedong and Joseph Stalin were not harmless revolutionaries or misunderstood reformers. They were totalitarian, murderous rulers whose governments imprisoned, starved, purged and killed tens of millions of human beings. Any political movement that romanticizes these men, excuses their crimes or borrows their revolutionary language should be treated as a flashing warning sign. But Americans must also understand that fear of communism has historically been used to elevate dictators, militarize politics and silence lawful opposition. The answer to Marxist revolution is not fascist reaction, both roads lead away from liberty.

America is therefore under political siege from more than one direction. The deepest danger is not simply the rise of the DSA or any single faction. It is the collapse of the political center that once recognized opponents as fellow citizens, elections as legitimate and constitutional limits as binding. When both sides become convinced that losing an election means losing the country forever, compromise becomes treason and political violence begins to appear justified. The Democratic Party is alarmed because it is beginning to realize that the DSA does not merely want a seat at the table. It wants to rebuild the table, choose who may sit there and remove those who refuse to submit. Meanwhile, an increasingly angry Right may decide that only concentrated power can defeat the socialist threat. That is how a free people become trapped between revolution and reaction, each side using the other to frighten the public into surrendering more power.

The answer to this problem is not “more Trump” and more “MAGA”, the answer is found in the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Indepence. This is how the “grand experiment” continues, and the ignoring of these things is how it will come to an end.

America does not have to repeat Germany’s descent, but history is sounding the alarm. Our nation must reject socialism, political violence, totalitarian romanticism and authoritarian government—regardless of which party or personality offers them. The real battle is not simply Democrat against Republican or Left against Right. It is constitutional liberty against every movement that believes its cause is so righteous that laws, elections and individual rights may be pushed aside. America is standing at the crossroads, and the road it chooses will determine whether the republic survives. The political siege is real, but the choice is not between communist revolution and authoritarian retaliation. The choice is between preserving constitutional government and allowing fear, rage and ideological extremism to tear it apart.

Last night, America learned the name Zohran Mamdani, a politician in New York City who is a self-avowed Marxist, Socialist, anti-Zionist and anti-Israel Democrat candidate for mayor. In last night’s Primary election for mayor, Mamdani won in a sweeping landslide, receiving overwhelming support from New York’s large Jewish population. It’s like the bird voting for the cat to be in charge of the cage. We have watched for years what having a Muslim mayor has done for London, all of it bad, and now that same scourge is fixing to set up shop in the city considered the financial center of the world.

Let’s talk Zohran Mamdani and Israel. Mamdani has consistently criticized the policies and actions of the Israeli government, particularly regarding its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. He has voiced support for Palestinian liberation and the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. He has defended the use of the phrase “Globalize the intifada,” stating that for him, it represents a desire for equality and human rights, although the phrase is widely seen by many Jews as a call to violence. Lastly, Mamdani issued a statement after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, condemning Israel and its government, calling for an end to the occupation and dismantling of apartheid. So you tell me how on Earth the Jews in New York City voted for that, because I would love to know.

Andrew Cuomo Concedes to Socialist Zohran Mamdani in NYC Democratic Mayoral Primary

FROM BREITBART NEWS: Cuomo told his supporters that tonight was “not” their night and added that “tonight was Assemblyman Mamdani’s night,” according to the Hill. “He put together a great campaign, and he touched young people and inspired them and moved them and got them to come out and vote,” Cuomo added. Per the outlet, Cuomo’s concession came after “Decision Desk HQ projected the race would head to a ranked-choice count.”

Earlier Tuesday, Decision Desk HQ projected the race would head to a ranked-choice count as Mamdani held a solid lead over the former governor. The vote counting will continue even though Cuomo has conceded in the primary. With 91 percent of the votes counted, Mamdani leads with 43.5 percent, or 428,995 votes, while Cuomo received 36.4 percent, or 358,740 votes, according to the Associated Press. New York City Comptroller Brad Lander came in third with 11.3 percent, or 111,44 votes.

While Mamdani leads in the election, it could take “days before the winner is determined,” as the city does ranked choice voting, CBS News reported. According to the NYC Board of Elections website, “all first-choice votes are counted,” and if a candidate receives more than 50 percent of the first-choice votes, they win. Votes will continue to be counted “if no candidate earns more than” 50 percent of the first-choice votes:

All first-choice votes are counted. If a candidate receives more than 50% of first-choice votes, that candidate wins. If not candidate earns more than 50% of first-choice votes, then counting will continue in rounds. At the end of each round, the last-place candidate is eliminated and voters who chose that candidate now have their vote counted for their next choice.

Your vote is counted for your second choice only if your first choice is eliminated. If both your first and second choices are eliminated, your vote is counted for your next choice, and so on.
Breitbart News previously reported that Mamdani suggested creating city-run grocery stores, noting that “people in his city are struggling with the cost of groceries.”

Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani outlined his platform on his website saying people in his city are struggling with the cost of groceries.

The site then declared Mamdani “will create a network of city-owned grocery stores focused on keeping prices low, not making a profit. Without having to pay rent or property taxes, they will reduce overhead and pass on savings to shoppers. They will buy and sell at wholesale prices, centralize warehousing and distribution, and partner with local neighborhoods on products and sourcing. With New York City already spending millions of dollars to subsidize private grocery store operators (which are not even required to take SNAP/WIC!), we should redirect public money to a real ‘public option.’” READ MORE

Would almost be funny if it wasn’t so sad, right? The Left is ready for a fight, they’re ready to shed the blood of Republicans and unborn babies, they have mobilized and stand ready to attack. All the talk of moving Trump’s inauguration inside has less to do with the polar vortex and everything to do with the ‘heat wave of hate’ that burned up the Mall in Washington DC earlier today. FROM EURO NEWS: The march is a reprisal of the original Women’s March days before President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration in 2017. Eight years after the first historic Women’s March at the start of Trump’s first term, marchers said they were caught off guard by Trump’s victory and are determined now to show that support remains strong for women’s access to abortion, for transgender people, for combating climate change and other issues.

Jill Parrish of Austin, Texas, said she initially bought a plane ticket to Washington for what she expected to be Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’s inauguration. She wound up changing the dates to march in protest ahead of Trump’s swearing-in instead, saying the world should know that half of U.S. voters didn’t support Trump.

“Most importantly, I’m here to demonstrate my fear, about the state of our democracy,” Parrish said.

Demonstrators staged in squares around Washington ahead of the march, pounding drums and yelling chants under a slate-grey sky and in a chilly wind. They held signs with slogans including, “Save America” and “Against abortions? Then don’t have one” and “Hate won’t win.”

Minnesota high school teacher Anna Bergman wore her original pink pussy hat from her time in the 2017 Women’s March, a moment that captured the shock and anger of progressives and moderates at Trump’s first win.

With Trump coming back now, “I just wanted to be surrounded by likeminded people on a day like today,” Bergman said.

Rick Glatz, of Manchester, New Hampshire, said he came to Washington for the sake of his four granddaughters: ” I’m a grandpa. And that’s why I’m marching.”

Rebranded and reorganized, the rally has a new name — the People’s March — as a means to broaden support, especially during a reflective moment for progressive organizing after Trump’s decisive win in November. The Republican takes the oath of office Monday. READ MORE
