President Donald Trump shocked and angered the world today by posting and reposting a photo of himself as the next Roman pope, what possible message was he sending?

Unless you live in a cave, by now the news of a sitting United States president, Donald Trump, posting and then reposting an AI photo of himself as the next Roman Catholic pope has reached your ears and eyes. All the usual suspects have risen, immediately, to his defense proffering explanations like “he’s playing 4D chess”, “he’s trolling the opposition”, and “you just don’t understand his sense of humor” as if any of those nonsensical statement had any bearing on the conversation, they don’t. My father used to tell me that, when someone did something for which there was no good or rational explanation, they were “sending you a message”, and that’s exactly what’s happening here. The only question, what message?

100 days into Trump 2.0, even the casual observer can discern that this Trump has almost nothing in common with the 2016 Trump 1.0. The first Trump administration was positively light-hearted compared to this administration that is filled with dark foreboding combined with a manic rush forward. Forward to where exactly? I look around, and so far, there are no Epstein files, no JFK files, no UFOs and aliens files, no explanation for the drones, food prices still high, gas prices still right around $3.00 (here in Florida), no end to the war in Ukraine, and the list goes on and on. All my friends voted for Trump last November, and nearly all of them are experiencing the same sense of perplexity as I am about this administration. Pope Donald VI? Hmm. A US president rules over 350 million, but the pope over 1.4 billion. That’s power.

The first thing that comes to my mind, as a former Roman Catholic before getting saved in 1991, as I look at the Trump-as-pope photo, is that it signals not mockery as some have suggested but rather alliance. Remember back in 2020 when President Trump and Melania visited the shrine of Saint John Paul II and bowed and did obeisance there? Remember what he did right after that visit? He signed an Executive Order providing for “promotion of interfaith dialogue to solve problems and promote greater inter- and intra-religious understanding.” So Trump’s pope photo is sending a clear and direct message to the Vatican that he will fully support the next Roman leader.

Trump first posted the photo to his own Truth Social account, and that’s fine, we’ll file that under ‘artistic license’ and ‘freedom of expression’. Have at it. But…then that post was then reposted by the official White House page on X, causing the United States government to, by proxy, take an official position of supporting it. That’s not fine. We now have gone past ‘humor and trolling’ right into asking if Trump sees himself as a political figure, religious figure or both. Fun fact from your King James Bible: the Antichrist is both a political figure and a religious figure.

Lastly, we have the timing of it all. If Trump would have done this a few months ago while Pope Francis was alive, no one would have cared. Same for if he did it a few months after the election of the next pope. But to do it now, while the College of Cardinals are sequestered and actively engaged in the process of electing a pope, that signals disruption. But disruption of what and of whom? That’s the question.

I was very happy when Donald Trump won in a landslide last November, confident that we would soon experience an economic boom and that the great American train would be reset on her tracks. But a little over 100 days later, it’s hard to remain optimistic in the face of the unrelenting spiritual darkness coming out of the White House. I don’t know what’s coming next, but I’m bracing myself for anything. To me, none of this is ‘draining the swamp’ or ‘dismantling the Deep State’, but a frenzied and potentially uncontrollable descent into madness. Someone is having a laugh alright, but it’s at our expense.

Dow surges 2,000 points, Nasdaq jumps 8% after Trump signals a 90-day pause on some tariffs

FROM CNBC: The S&P 500 gained 6%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2159 points, or 5.7%. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 8%.

“I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE, and a substantially lowered Reciprocal Tariff during this period, of 10%, also effective immediately,” Trump posted on his Truth Social.

It wasn’t clear if the pause would be for all nations or just some. Trump, in the same post, said he was raising the tariff on China higher again to 125%. Shares of the stocks hardest hit during this tariff battle led the comeback. Apple was up 7% and Nvidia surged 10%. Walmart gained 9%. Before Trump’s announcement, stocks were volatile during most of Wednesday’s session, dealing with a tit-for-tat back and forth between China and Trump. The EU also approved its first set of tariffs on the U.S. set to start April 15.

Stocks were trending higher with traders appeared encouraged Wednesday morning after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he would be taking a lead negotiating role in tariff talks. Also, shortly after the market open Wednesday, Trump urged investors that now was “a great time to buy.”

Anxiety around the rollout of the tariffs fueled a four-day rout for stocks. Over the course of the previous four trading sessions, the Dow lost more than 4,500 points, while the S&P 500 sustained a 12% loss. The Nasdaq Composite was down more than 13% in that period. READ MORE

The CRINK alliance of China, Russia, Iran and North Korea seem to be assembling themselves together as Trump prepares B-2 bombers to launch preemptive strike on Iranian nuclear facilities

I want to draw your attention to two distinct things happening right now at the same time. The first thing is that President Trump is posturing that he is quite open to the possibility of taking out Iran’s nuclear facilities, so open in fact that he has ordered the largest massing of B-2 bombers in American history in Diego Garcia. The second thing is the oddly-named CRINK, or the China, Russia, Iran and North Korea alliance. War drums are beating quite loudly about this convergence of these two things.

Donald Trump was the one who moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, declaring Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, signed off on the Abraham Accords, the one who put the world on lockdown and the one who gave the world the mRNA COVID vaccine. In his second term, Trump has announced the launch of Stargate, pledged to create a digital dollar and make crypto an official currency of the United States. So it stands to reason, logic and common sense that Donald Trump will also be the one who finally orders the strike on Iran and their Russian-built nuclear plants. Maybe even this week. Trump assembles B-2 bombers over Iran nuclear sites as CRINK nations prepares their response

FROM KEN KLIPPENSTEIN: In the largest single deployment of stealth bombers in U.S. history, the Pentagon has sent six B-2 “Spirit” aircraft to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The long-range bombers, which are uniquely suited to evade Iranian air defenses and can carry America’s most potent bunker busting weapons, flew in from Missouri last week in a little noticed operation.

The B-2s carry not just bombs, but a message for Iran: “do you see our sword?,” as one retired general told Newsmax this week. President Donald Trump hasn’t been shy in threatening Iran, saying that if Tehran doesn’t close the door on a nuclear capability they will experience “bombing the likes of which they haven’t seen.”

“Hell” will “rain down” on the country, Trump has also said. Just today, amidst the stock market meltdown

Trump again reiterated his threat, saying that “doing a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious” — which to the president is undertaking a massive strike.

“To my knowledge, this is the largest B-2 deployment to a forward location,” Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists told me. Kristensen is the world’s leading tracker of nuclear comings and goings.

“All the bombers, they’re not in hangers, they’re underneath satellites where they can be photographed and seen; and the idea is, do you see our sword?” retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt, who served as Deputy U.S. Military Representative to NATO, said in an interview with Newsmax last week. Holt also said that the B-2 deployment “gives the president a military option that he can actually use these weapons against Iran if needed.”

This is a highly visible threat to Tehran, but at least one party isn’t supposed to notice: the American people. The Pentagon refuses to acknowledge that the deployment is even happening. Trump’s new Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell has only vaguely alluded to “other air assets” being deployed it has announced that two aircraft carriers will stay in the region, the result of a delay in sending one home after its current deployment.

According to Google Trends, searches for terms like “B-2” and “war with Iran” have only modestly increased, indicating that public curiosity has been suppressed despite Donald Trump’s many threats to attack his enemies. READ MORE
