Tolerance Of Westboro Church Shows How Far America Has Fallen
This is not the ‘greatest generation’
Until the false guise of ‘free speech’, the hateful, cowardly jackasses that populate the Westboro Baptist “church” continue to carry on with their unchristian protests of military funerals. But what makes this a real tragedy is that fact that their protests are not only tolerated, they are protected under our judicial system. Just as it is not allowed under ‘free speech’ to walk into a crowded theater and yell “fire!!”, protests at funerals of brave American soldiers is not free speech and should not be allowed. Allowing it does not show our ‘tolerance’ for diversity, it shows our weakness and inability to discern between right and wrong. America has forgotten how to lead, and how to administer justice and fairness.

The Westboro Baptist "church" continues to do the work of the Devil, and will one day get what they deserve.
(CNN) — A day after the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed Westboro Baptist Church’s right to protest against homosexuality at military funerals, the fallen Marine’s father, who unsuccessfully sued the controversial Kansas congregation, warned that the church’s protests will eventually spark violence.
“Something is going to happen,” Albert Snyder told CNN Thursday. “Somebody is going to get hurt.”
“You have too many soldiers and Marines coming back with post-traumatic stress syndrome, and they (the Westboro protesters) are going to go to the wrong funeral and the guns are going to go off.” ”And when it does,” Snyder said. “I just hope it doesn’t hit the mother that’s burying her child or the little girl that’s burying her father or mother. It’s inevitable.”
In an 8-1 decision, the high court ruled Wednesday that Westboro Baptist Church has a First Amendment right to picket military funerals, no matter how “hurtful” the message may be. The decision ended Snyder’s five-year court fight on behalf of his late son, Matthew, a Marine lance corporal killed in Iraq, whose funeral was picketed by Westboro church members.
Albert Snyder again slammed the high court justices for not having “the common sense that God gave a goat.” ”I just can’t believe that there was no common sense used in this decision,” Snyder said. Because of the ruling, Snyder will have to pay $116,000 in court costs to the Rev. Fred Phelps, the pastor of Westboro.
“The worst part of this,” Snyder said, “is I know they are going to use that money to do this to other soldiers.” source – CNN

I believe that these people are jackasses. What I don’t understand is why they don’t mail a gospel while they are still alive. It is much cheaper and far less costly and is the whole point of evangelization, bringing people to Christ before they die. This stuff has NO place at a funeral.

Revelation 13:10 (King James Version)
10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

I heard a man comment on this on KLTT Denver Christian radio today. I agree with him. He said that for the sake of Christians and freedom of OUR speech, allowing Westboro Church to be able to do this is necessary and right, and a good ruling. However, the bad part is that OTHER CHRISTIANS and Christian churches will be put into this category.

The thing is, these people WILL be taken care of, not by man, but by God, and I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we hear more about this so-called “church” in the future in a different way.

PLEASE, people, do NOT confuse the WESTBORO WACKOS with CHRISTIANS. If ANYTHING gives me a measure of empathy for regular Muslims, it’s that there are people who see these CRAZIES and believe that actual CHRISTIANS are like this! It’s TRAGIC!
In fact, the ONLY thing that separates the Westboro group (I REFUSE to call them a ‘church’~ The moonies are more rational than this lot!) from the monsters who instigated 9/11 Is ACTION. While the 9/11 terrorists spoke with highjacked planes, these Vile creatures are spouting the same hatred that provokes events like September 11th. Hatred is HATRED and has NO place in the life of those who call themselves CHRISTIANS.
“God has NO pleasure in the death of the ungodly but that the wicked would turn from his sins and repent” (paraphrase, me) . When God brings down a judgment, He doesn’t do so, rubbing His hands in sadistic glee. He does so after continued unrepentance. These people, who call themselves a ‘church’ wouldn’t know a Bible from a Reader’s Digest. Does God hate Homosexuality? Yes? But He also hates it when women cheat on their husbands and when husbands cheat on their wives.
John 3:16 spells out God feels about us. If He didn’t care, or if He was as cold as the monsters who protest at the funerals of soldiers, then God could have drowned the lot of Humanity in the flood; Noah and all!
The Westboro wackos are WORSE than the religious rulers of Jesus’ day and unless they repent of this cold-blooded attitude, they may be faced with the same affliction they so hatefully wish on others. What goes around, comes around.

Are we not to be Christlike? I have found nowhere in scripture where Jesus attended any funerals condemning the dead! We as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ are to be a light unto the world and to help pluck brands from out of the fire.
Westboro church is not doing this but pushing non-believers even further away from salvation.
This is just another example of why people say,” If this is what Christianity is about, I want no part of it!

This is not a church, this is a hate group. Westboro Baptist Church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive language and flag desecration, attempting to create a confrontation. This is not about protesting, freedom, or God. They are in it for the money and the press; this is a family law firm. They are not a “church.” It is a scam. They go after anything that can get them in the news. This is a family of lawyers using this “god hates you” thing to make money.

The church has received money from lawsuits and legal fees. For example, they sued the city of Topeka several times in the 1990s. WBC received $16,500, and is pursuing another $100,000, in legal fees for a case won in court. The WBC is considered a nonprofit organization by the federal government, and is therefore exempt from paying taxes!
Phelps-Roper of the Westboro Baptist Church is shown admitting on camera that her oldest son was born out of wedlock. Hypocritical Phelps-Roper’s vocal condemnation on strangers having sexual congress outside of marriage while she herself was guilty of the same. They are NOT what they say they are!!
