OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will join forces with key leadership from companies like Microsoft and Google this week as secretive meeting of the Bilderberg Group of global elites kick-starts in Lisbon, Portugal.

The secretive annual New World Order Bilderberg meeting attended by the world’s global elite has AI top of their agenda

FROM CNBC: Artificial intelligence will top the agenda as the ChatGPT chief meets with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, DeepMind head Demis Hassabis and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt at the annual Bilderberg meeting.

The tech titans will be joined by political heavyweights including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba for a range of discussions spanning international relations, trade, energy and finance.

All in, around 130 participants from 23 countries are set to attend the private meeting — a similar number to previous years. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, BP chief Bernard Looney, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne, investor Peter Thiel and a number of EU politicians will also be there.

The three-day event, which this year runs from May 18 to 21, is shrouded in mystery, with clandestine talks held behind closed doors and subject to Chatham House rules, meaning the identity and affiliation of speakers must not be disclosed.

That has sparked conspiracy theories, similar to those leveled against high-level meetings like the World Economic Forum in Davos, by those who claim attendees are seeking to establish a “new world order.” However, the event’s organizers say that the discrete nature of the event is to allow for greater freedom of discussion.

What is on the agenda in 2023?

Key topics up for discussion at this year’s meeting were published by its organizers Thursday, giving an insight into what it deems the most pressing issues in global affairs:

Meantime, the ongoing war in Ukraine and concerns over rising China threats have become a source of continued discussion among Western leaders, with signs of division in U.S. and European policy rising over recent months.

Now in its 69th year, the Bilderberg meeting was established in 1954 to “foster dialogue” between Europe and North America. Today, around two-thirds of participants come from Europe and the rest from North America, with approximately a quarter from politics and government and the remainder from other fields, according to a statement on its website. The spread of COVID-19 is no longer a global public health emergency, the World Health Organization declared Friday. Welcome to Phase 2 of the Great Reset.

Well, what do you know? Looks like the dreaded, terrible, worst plague of modern times has come to an ignominious end in a Friday afternoon memo from the World Health Organization. No brass bands, no ticker tape parade. Why? Because the vast majority of the people who have endured this pandemic now have PTSD, not from COVID but from the relentless gaslighting from our New World Order overlords. But take heart, the Great Reset is still here, and is in fact, now in Phase 2.

WHO declares end to Covid-19 global public health emergency

FROM CNBC: “For more than a year, the pandemic has been on a downward trend with population immunity increasing from vaccination and infection, mortality decreasing, and the pressure on health systems easing,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a news conference in Geneva.

 “This trend has allowed most countries to return to life as we knew it before Covid-19,” Tedros said. “It’s therefore with great hope that I declared Covid-19 over as a global health emergency.”

Nearly 7 million people have died from the virus worldwide since the WHO first declared the emergency on Jan. 30, 2020, according to the U.N. organization’s official data. Tedros said the true death toll is at least 20 million.

The WHO’s decision comes as the U.S. is set to end its national public health emergency on Thursday. Tedros said there is still a risk that new variant could emerge and cause another surge in cases. He warned national governments against dismantling the systems they have built to fight the virus.

“This virus is here to stay. It’s still killing and it’s still changing,” he said.

But the WHO chief said the time has come for countries to transition from an emergency response to managing Covid like other infectious diseases. Covid was first observed in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, when several patients began to experience pneumonia symptoms with unknown cause. READ MORE

It appears that 2023 could be remembered as the year that marked the beginning of a new financial crisis as the banking system is insolvent here is Phase II of the Great Reset

I live here in Florida in America’s oldest city, Saint Augustine, a gorgeous little place where they film Hallmark Movies and to where millions of tourists flock to every year. Southern Living Magazine just named Saint Augustine the best small town in the south, it’s a great place. But spend a little time here and you will see how crazy expensive things are, rents have doubled, mortgages skyrocketing if you can get one, a cheeseburger, fries and a drink is $20, and none of these things have anything to do with how popular Saint Augustine is. In just about one year’s time, everything went nuts and it’s happening all over the country. This was all planned.

Banking bailouts won’t prevent a financial crisis

FROM UNHERD: When Silicon Valley Bank and Signature collapsed in March, optimists argued that this was an idiosyncrasy driven by the banks’ large holdings of startup deposits. Shortly afterwards, when Credit Suisse fell, Americans shrugged it off as a foreign bank. With the bailout-buyout of First Republic by JP Morgan over the weekend, the prospect of a general banking crisis is being taken more seriously by the markets.

Earlier this week there were sell-offs in multiple bank stocks. PacWest tanked 42%; Western Alliance plunged 27%; and Metropolitan Bank fell 20%. Comerica and Zion Bancorp followed the pack, both down nearly 10%. The KBW regional banking index, which tracks smaller regional banks, fell 7%. Markets are finally waking up to the fact that a large portion of the banking system is potentially insolvent — around half of it, by some measures.

The banking system is insolvent due to reckless central bank policy. Following the last financial crisis in 2008-09, central banks engaged in wild monetary experiments including quantitative easing (QE), which drove interest rates down to record lows. It is debatable whether these experiments had much of an impact on economic growth, but they certainly led to extreme overpricing in asset markets. QE juiced almost every financial market, from the stock market to the housing market to the market for used luxury watches. With the wave of bank failures, these markets will now likely experience heavy losses.

The bank failures themselves not only drove up the price for risky assets like those just mentioned, but also the price on riskless assets. Investors typically identify certain assets, like government bonds, as relatively lacking in risk. Governments print money, after all, so they can always pay back their loans. This means that banks feel comfortable holding large amounts of these riskless assets, and regulators are happy to let them.

But the QE policies have turned these riskless assets into risky assets. By driving interest rates on government bonds down substantially, the central banks have made these bonds sensitive to increases in interest rates. With central banks now raising rates to try to stamp out inflation, the price of these assets is falling off a cliff.

The losses have spooked depositors, who are now heading for the exit. Data shows that in the past few weeks we have seen the biggest run on deposits since the beginning of the Great Depression. So far, this has mainly impacted the smaller, regional banks. Those holding deposits at these banks that are larger than the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) limit of $250,000 are scared that the bank will collapse, and that they will lose their money. When the depositors take the cash and run, the bank soon collapses.

The recent use of bailouts and assisted buyouts may become increasingly difficult as more banks come under pressure. The only solution then will be to guarantee all deposits in the banking system.

Doing this, however, would be tantamount to the Government giving a blanket guarantee to all holdings of capital. With such a free insurance policy in place, investors could take as much risk with their investment as they saw fit — after all, if the investments go bad, the Government will pick up the tab. Economists call this problem “moral hazard”.

Yet, even then, the damage to the economy has likely already been done. Credit standards are now tightening rapidly, meaning that lending to the real economy will soon seize up. Consequently, businesses will pull back on investment and people will stop buying houses. At this point, unemployment should start to creep up as layoffs start in the construction sector. A recession should follow in short order — likely accompanied by a full-blown crisis.

The long-term legacy of this situation could be a partial socialisation of the banking system, though. After the last financial crisis, central banks around the world engaged in an unprecedented monetary experiment. The impact of this experiment on the real economy was uncertain at best, and past a certain point the central banks appeared to be doing the QE policies just to demonstrate that they could. But these policies had costs, and we are now seeing those chickens come home to roost. Just don’t expect mea culpas any time soon from the people in charge. READ MORE
