The Michelle Obama doc ‘Becoming,’ which originated with the Obamas’ Higher Ground production company, shares the name of the former first lady’s best-selling 2018 memoir and picks up where it left off.
On April 19th, we brought you the story of the master plan of the Democratic Party to have Joe Biden pick Michelle Obama as his vice president, only to have himself be declared mentally unfit to serve according to the 25th Amendment, this placing Michelle Obama into office as president where she will then pick someone like Barack Obama as her vice president. Sounds crazy, right?
Well, today we see news of a multi-million dollar vanity puff piece called ‘Becoming’, a visual tribute to Michelle Obama be aired exclusively on Netflix on May 6th. The film will glorify the former First Lady, and place her center square in the headlines at the same time the campaigning will get started. Prepare yourself for Vice President Michelle Obama, it’s really not that crazy after all.
Top-Secret Michelle Obama Doc to Hit Netflix on May 6
FROM THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: A documentary feature about Michelle Obama — the existence of which has been kept top-secret for months — will be made available worldwide on Netflix on May 6. Becoming, like reigning best documentary feature Oscar winner American Factory, originated from Higher Ground, the production company run by former President Barack Obama and the former first lady, which has an exclusive pact with Netflix.
The doc, which marks the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Nadia Hallgren (Trouble the Water), shares the name of the former first lady’s best-selling 2018 memoir and recounts some of the same history of her life. But it also picks up where that story left off by following her on the 34-city tour that she undertook while promoting her book.
“Those months I spent traveling — meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe — drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” the former first lady said in a statement. “In groups large and small, young and old, unique and united, we came together and shared stories, filling those spaces with our joys, worries and dreams. We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud.”
The former first lady also addressed the ongoing pandemic: “It’s hard these days to feel grounded or hopeful, but I hope that like me, you’ll find joy and a bit of respite in what Nadia has made. Because she’s a rare talent, someone whose intelligence and compassion for others comes through in every frame she shoots. Most importantly, she understands the meaning of community, the power of community, and her work is magically able to depict it.”
She continued, “As many of you know, I’m a hugger. My whole life, I’ve seen it as the most natural and equalizing gesture one human can make toward another — the easiest way of saying, ‘I’m here for you.’ And this is one of the toughest parts of our new reality: Things that once felt simple — going to see a friend, sitting with someone who is hurting, embracing someone new — are now not simple at all.”
She closed, “I love and miss you all.” READ MORE

When you contribute to this fundraising effort, you are helping us to do what the Lord called us to do. The money you send in goes primarily to the overall daily operations of this site. When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. Even all the way to South Africa. We even restarted our weekly radio Bible study on Sunday nights again, thanks to your generous donations. All this is possible because YOU pray for us, YOU support us, and YOU give so we can continue growing.
But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 14,444+ people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 149,000 followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 15,300 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.
