Glory Fellowship Church And Orphanage In Kisii Kenya were told no by The Gideons, and now turn to us for Bibles

We had a couple stop into the Bookstore a few weeks ago, they’re connected to The Gideons, and they told us of a pastor in Kenya who had reached out in need of Bibles for his church and orphanage, and The Gideons International told him that they could not send him the Bibles he asked for as their policy did not allow for it. Evidentially, the Gideons only supply Bibles to schools, not churches or orphanges. Hmm. With no where to turn, and after hearing of our Free Bible Program, they asked if we could step in and do something to help them. We assured them we could, and Lord willing, that we would.

“As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.” Psalm 18:30 (KJB)

Pastor Dancan emailed me and said this – “Our ministry is called Glory Fellowship Church, located in Kisii, Kenya. We are an independent church focused on preaching the Gospel, winning souls to Christ, discipleship, prayer, and helping the needy in our community, including orphaned children. The demand for the Word of God here is very high. Many of our church members and new believers do not own personal Bibles, and this has been a great challenge for our ministry. Receiving Bibles would be a great blessing to our church and community.Thank you once again for your kindness, prayers, and willingness to help.” The need for copies of God’s word is great, greater than you could ever imagine. We are under no delusion that we can supply the whole world with Bibles, but we are 100% certain that we can supply Bibles to 100% of the people that God sends our way. Where God leads, He provides. Amen? This will cost a minimum of $4,500 to purchase and ship these Bibles, and we need your help to do it. Come help us!

The Lord Turned One Mother’s Request For One King James Bible Into An Open Door For Hundreds Of Inmates At The Williamson County Jail in Tennessee

What began as a simple and heartfelt request from the mother of an inmate has now become a wide-open door for the word of God inside the Williamson County Jail in Tennessee. A mother reached out to Bibles Behind Bars asking if we could send her son a King James Bible while he was incarcerated. I told her that we would be happy to do that, but making a connection there was much harder than I had anticipated. It took many phone calls, over many weeks, more than a few emails, and no small amount of persistence, but at last we were able to connect with the right person at the facility and obtain permission to send that Bible. Then the Lord did what He so often does, He kicks the door wide open and now we are supplying Bibles to the whole facility!

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 (KJB)

This is why Bibles Behind Bars exists. Not to promote a program, not to build a brand, not to make men religious, and not to hand out motivational literature. We exist to get the King James Bible into the hands of men and women behind bars because “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” The Bible does not need government approval to have power. It doesn’t need academic endorsement, and it doesn’t need modern revision. It needs only to be opened, read, believed, and obeyed. Paul wrote some of his most powerful words from prison. Joseph went from a prison house to a throne. The Philippian jailer met salvation in the middle of the night after an earthquake shook the prison doors open. God has never been intimidated by bars, guards, locks, rules, wardens, court systems, solitary confinements or government facilities. When God wants His word to go in, it goes in. This is the mission of Bibles Behind Bars, this is what your prayers work to accomplish, and this is what the donations you send in are spent on to produce. A Prison Captain In A South Dakota Women’s Prison Reaches Out To Us With One Of The Most Moving Requests For Bibles We’ve Ever Received

Coils of barbed wire crown the tall chain-link fences, while heavy metal-and-glass entrance doors, guarded cell blocks, and camera-monitored entry points all testify to the intense security surrounding the South Dakota Women’s Prison in Pierre.This is a no-nonsense, maximum security prison for female offenders buried deep in the foothills of South Dakota. Captain Samantha Uhrig reached out to us this week with one of the most heartfelt requests for Bibles I think we’ve ever recieved. It will bless you.

“Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.” Psalm 142:7 (KJB)

Her starting email to us was polished, professional and a very straight-forward request for Bibles. It read, in part, “SDWP is currently the intake and maximum-security level facility for women incarcerated in the state of South Dakota. Our state currently incarcerates women at one of the highest rates in the world, we also have the challenge of being located in an area that has limited resources and volunteers due to the length of travel. Currently we house approximately 500 female offenders in our facility. I have been looking for some time to replace our stock of religious materials for our incarcerated population…” That’s about the the type of email request we usually get, so I immediately responded and told her Bibles Behind Bars could absolutely help her. She wrote back and said “Thank you! My stores are completely depleted at this time. If you could send me 250 copies that would help bolster my supply significantly.” I said we would be happy to do that, and that we could also send her one of our Book Boxes, packed with great Christian literature. (see below). It was at this point that the captain got a little emotional.

IN ADDITION TO SENDING KING JAMES BIBLES, WE ALSO SEND OUT OUR BOOK BOX WITH CHRISTIAN READING SELECTED ESPECIALLY FOR THE SPECIFIC FACILITY THAT REQUESTED IT

She went on to tell me that the person who was in charge of the chaplaincy vacated their position and, it was later discovered, left the prison library and Bible program utterly bereft. No books, no library, and worst of all, no Bibles. When it dawned on her that Bibles Behind Bars was able to rebuild her library, with quality books, as well as supplying her with hundreds of Bibles, at no charge, her gratitude was plainly evident. I told her that we would be praying for her, and that Lord would give her “fruit in that day”. Captain Uhrig replied “Thank you!!! I am at a loss for words. Truly from the bottom of my heart thank you both. This big hard world needs more people like you who care.” Amen, Cap, that’s what we’re here for. Christian, this is what you are praying for when you pray for this outreach. We minister to the inmates, absolutely, but we also minister to the chaplains, captains, sheriffs, pastors, preachers and volunteers who go into the jails and prisons every day and do the hard work.
