32 Years Ago Today, I Got Saved On A King James Bible From A Free Bible Program That Sat In A Box For 20 Years Just Waiting For Me To Open It
On March 14th, 1991, I opened up a free Bible from a free Bible program and got saved. 32 years later, all of us here at NTEB are doing that for others.
Today is my born again birthday, and it’s been 32 years since I first began to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ after reading John 3:16 in a King James Bible. A Bible that was produced to be given away for free, by Christians in the 1960’s, with a burden to see the lost get saved. On March 14th, 1991, I would open that Book that was prayed over, paid for through donations and sent out into the highways and hedges in the hopes that a few lost souls would be “compelled to come in”. Well, that lost soul was me, and I got gloriously saved! You know what the Lord gave me today as a birthday present? An urgent request for cases of King James Bibles to be sent to a prison in central Florida. Happy birthday to me!
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 (KJB)
The email I opened today read like this, “I am one of the chaplains here at Union Correctional Institution. It is a mixed population facility housing everything from death row, general population, to confinement population, and even a work camp. I was referred to your ministry from a friend of mine and believe it could be a huge blessing as the KJV Bible is probably the most requested Bible and the least donated Bible. A shipment of 150 KJV Bibles would be a blessing.’ Chaplain Scott Schwarzrock” His request was immediately upgraded to 200 Bibles and his order has order begun to be processed. This was possible because you pray for our free Bible program, and you donate so we can send these Bibles out on demand.

Last Friday, Patricia O’Reilly prayed to receive Jesus on a phone call with me after the Podcast. Then on our Sunday Service, a woman named Amber started asked questions in the chat room and she got saved. And every month thousands of King James Bibles, New Testaments and scripture portions are being shipped all across America, and into about a dozen foreign countries, can you just imagine the fruit all that will produce? We supply jails, prisons, nursing homes, detention facilities, as well as sending over a thousand King James Study Bibles to individuals who request them. The Lord has given us a very wide open door, will you help us to reach the lost with God’s preserved word? If the Lord has prospered you, please donate and be as generous as you can. Counsellor At The Obion County Jail In Tennessee Has A Need For Bibles In A Facility That Holds 149 Inmates, Let’s Send Them Enough Bibles For Everyone
Help us to send 150 King James Bibles to the Obion County Jail in Tennessee, the latest facility to reach out to Bibles Behind Bars
A counsellor at the Obion County Jail reached out to us, wondering if we could supply her with some Bibles for use in their facility, and I wrote back to her right away to tell her that we certainly could. But she was only looking for maybe a case of Bibles, so I looked up the info on their facility and saw it holds 149 inmates. I would love to be able to send them a Bible for every inmate.
“Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;” Psalm 79:11 (KJB)
Jesus sure does have a heart for the prisoner in the Bible, so much so that He started His earthly ministry on verses that talk about “setting the captives free” in Isaiah 61:1. Many of the first century Christian wound up in jail, as did most of the apostles as well. So a Bible-sending ministry that goes to the jails, prisons and detention centers is really hitting the “sweet spot” as far as the Lord is concerned. DL Moody had his Colportage Association, and we have Bibles Behind Bars. The work continues!

Free Bible Program
We Sent Hundreds Of Bibles To The High Desert State Prison, And The Very First One Was Requested By A Satanist Who Nearly Died In A Knife Fight
A satanist inmate named TJ almost died in a knife fight, and when he came to, he asked the chaplain for a Bible, and Bibles Behind Bars was there to see he got it.
A few weeks ago, we sent a truckload of King James Bibles to the High Desert State Prison in Nevada, received by Chaplain Julio Calderin. Part of that shipment contained 100 Ruckman Reference Study Bibles, slated to be delivered to their men’s Bible study program at the prison. But God had other plans for one of those Bibles, something very unforeseen and quite wonderful.
“And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.” Luke 8:30 (KJB)
Chaplain Julio called me on Tuesday, first to say thank you to all the NTEB’ers who made it possible for the Bibles to be sent to his prison, and second, that he had something else to tell me as well. He told me about a prisoner, let’s call him TJ, and TJ is a hardcore satanist that most of the other inmates walk in fear of. Chap has had a burden to see him get saved for a long time. Well, TJ got involved in a violent prison yard brawl, and wound up with too many stab wounds to count, bleeding out in the yard. Doctors were fearful that they wouldn’t be able to save his life, but he pulled through. When he came out of surgery, he called for Chaplain Calderin. When Chap got to his bedside, TJ asked if he could be given a study Bible, and that he wanted to know where in there he could read about the forgiveness of God. Since we had just sent 100 study Bibles to High Desert, Chap was supplied and TJ was given the first one out of the box. Praise the LORD!!

Chaplain Calderin is scheduled to retire in a few months, and at the end of our call on Tuesday, he told me that he is rethinking retiring right now because there is more work to be done. That’s how powerfully TJ asking for that Bible affected Chap. Christian, this is the work we are called to do here, putting the Bible into the hands of as many people as possible, starting with the ‘least of these’, like TJ. Please pray that TJ’s request for the Bible will lead him to believe the gospel and get saved, and pray for Chap and the work God has called him to do there in High Desert State Prison. We’re Sending Hundreds Of King James Bibles To The Fulton County Jail, The Santa Clara County Jail And The Orange County Jail Next Week With Your Help
Bibles Behind Bars is finishing out the month of June quite strong as new jails and prisons are coming onboard looking for God’s word for the inmates in the care
Today has been a wonderful busy and crazy day, the Lord is truly blessing. We opened the new location for the Bookstore, and we have some wonderful support from the local community here in Palatka. I spent some time on the phone earlier with NTEB’er Richard who believes in the work we’re doing here, and wants to help us to send more Bibles out. It’s a good thing, too, because our inbox has been on fire this month with requests for King James Bibles for inmates. We need your help to meet all the new requests.
“To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.” Isaiah 42:7 (KJB)
I had a wonderful conversation with Chaplain Zachery at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia. We’re sending them Bibles for the facility and they ship out on Monday. I have been emailing with Chaplain Milner from CIC Ministries that works in the Santa Clara Jail in California, and their Bibles go out on Monday as well. Still waiting to hear back from Chaplain Gonzales at the Orange County Jail here in Florida, but we have his Bibles packed and ready to be sent. A local homeless shelter in Saint Augustine reached out for Bibles for their facility, and they’re picking them up on Tuesday from the Bookstore. Over at the Free Bible Program, we continue to send out an average of 83 free Ruckman Reference Bibles per month to individuals who request them from our site, that’s a minimum of 1,000 per year packed and shipped to a thousand needy souls. Did you know that NTEB is the largest purchaser of Ruckman Reference Bibles in the world? It’s true, that Bible is the backbone of our Free Bible Program, and it makes me very happy to be able send them to Christians who desperately need one but can’t afford it.
