As Israel heads into Independence Day, the smell of fire and the thick grey smoke give a sense of unease, with multiple sources alleging Hamas terrorism and fear of major damage to the Armored Corps museum in Latrun, a significant memorial site

As you read this, reports of rain falling from the sky have started coming in over the last hour, helping firefighters to begin to put out what was most assuredly the biggest fire in the modern day history of Israel. But don’t let that fact prevent you from wrapping your head around the fact that the blazes were arson, started by Hamas, and set on the Israeli Independence Day celebrations. Timing is everything, and that’s the memo.

There are many ways to wage a war, and using a military with guns and tanks is only one of them. The terrorist events that took place on October 7th, 2023, were basically planned and carried out by an aggressor, Hamas, who is many times smaller and quite inferior to the combined might of the IAF and the IDF. Yet with the element of surprise and some rudimentary planning, Hamas scored a win for the record books. I have no doubt that Hamas set these fires to show the Jews that, even on their Independence Day, Israel will not be free from their grip.

Israel Ablaze in National Emergency Believed To Be Terrorist Act

FROM THEMEDIALINE: A massive wildfire broke out on Wednesday in Israel in the forests between Eshtaol and Latrun, west of Jerusalem, forcing evacuations and road closures as thousands gathered across the Jewish state for Memorial Day observances. Fanned by high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds, the fire, believed to have been set intentionally, spread rapidly through multiple locations across Israel.

“It’s a terror attack on Israel,” Eli Beer, president of the United Hatzalah emergency response organization, told The Media Line. He noted that fires were started in 20 separate locations. A security source also confirmed to The Media Line that a terrorist act was likely behind the fires, adding that several people had been arrested.

A map circulating in Israeli security circles depicts the locations of the fires, almost all of which are marked on the Israeli side of the Green Line separating the West Bank from Israel and Gaza—not in the areas inhabited by Palestinians. Hamas posted on social media a call for Palestinians in the West Bank and Israel to “burn whatever you can of groves, forests, and settler homes” and “set their cars ablaze.”

Several individuals from East Jerusalem have been arrested by Israeli police on suspicion of attempting to ignite fires in the area, including a man in his 50s from Umm Tuba who was arrested after allegedly trying to set fire to an open field in southern Jerusalem. When confronted by police, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief chase. Authorities found a lighter, cotton, and other incendiary materials in his possession.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Transportation Minister Israel Katz described the situation as a national emergency. On social media, Likud lawmaker Dan Illouz called for “an immediate closure of Judea and Samaria and an iron-fisted response” to the fires.

“We don’t wait for an attack—we thwart it,” he wrote. “We have learned the lesson, from both old and new history.”

In an interview with The Media Line, Chaim Rafalowski, disaster management and EU projects coordinator for Magen David Adom emergency services, described the situation as “very serious.” “We’re hoping that the National Fire Service will manage to get things under control so it doesn’t escalate into a full-blown disaster,” he said.

Authorities shut down major arteries including Highway 1, the main road connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and Highway 3. Drivers abandoned their cars and fled on foot as smoke engulfed the roads. “People found themselves in immediate danger as fires approached their vehicles,” Rafalowski said. France is making plans to recognize a Palestinian state and could do so as early as June, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with a French broadcaster on Wednesday.

Emmanuel Macron has been quiet lately, allowing President Trump to garner all the headlines, but he certainly has not been idle. Yesterday, Macron announced  that, in partnership with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, France plans to recognize a state of Palestine to exist at an upcoming Two State Solution Summit in June to be held in Saudi Arabia. Emmanuel Macron and Mohammed bin Salman are the perfect end times Antichrist dream team. That’s the memo.

France could recognize a Palestinian state in June, says Macron

FROM POLITICO EU: Macron said he hoped that by recognizing Palestinian statehood at a conference in June that France is co-hosting with Saudi Arabia pushing for a two-state solution, attendees who do not formally recognize Israel would in turn do so.

“We must move toward recognition, and we will do so in the coming months,” said the French president. “I’m not doing it for unity, or to please this or that person. I’m doing it because at some point it will be fair,” he said.

Macron’s comments come after Israel resumed its bombardment of the Gaza Strip last month when a two-month-long truce came to an end and ceasefire talks broke down between Israel and the militant group Hamas. Israel has since halted the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.

Israel’s war in Gaza was triggered by Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, assault against southern Israel during which 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage. The Hamas-run Gazan Health Ministry says more than 50,000 people in Gaza have died in the ensuing conflict. That figure includes both civilian and combatant fatalities. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict resonates deeply in France, which is home to Europe’s largest Jewish and Muslim communities. Israel is also home to a large French-speaking community that has kept strong ties to France.

France has always been in favor of a two-state solution but has resisted calls to recognize a Palestinian state, often arguing that Paris would only do so if it served the peace process.

Macron’s comments came at the end of a three-day trip to Egypt, during which he visited a hospital treating Palestinians in the city of El Arish, near the border with Gaza.

“I want to believe in peace; today the conflict has intensified and it’s terrible … Since March 2, there’s nothing going in [to the Gaza Strip] — no water, no food, no medication, and none of the injured are coming out,” Macron said.

Macron’s decision is likely to antagonize Israel and draw a backlash from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who says that recognizing Palestinian statehood now is effectively rewarding terrorism.

“A ‘unilateral recognition’ of a fictional Palestinian state, by any country, in the reality that we all know, will be a prize for terror and a boost for Hamas. These kind of actions will not bring peace, security and stability in our region closer — but the opposite: they only push them further away,” Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on X. The French Jewish umbrella group Crif on Thursday slammed Macron’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it “an unacceptable political victory” for Hamas while dozens of Israeli hostages are still being held in Gaza. The CRINK alliance of China, Russia, Iran and North Korea seem to be assembling themselves together as Trump prepares B-2 bombers to launch preemptive strike on Iranian nuclear facilities

I want to draw your attention to two distinct things happening right now at the same time. The first thing is that President Trump is posturing that he is quite open to the possibility of taking out Iran’s nuclear facilities, so open in fact that he has ordered the largest massing of B-2 bombers in American history in Diego Garcia. The second thing is the oddly-named CRINK, or the China, Russia, Iran and North Korea alliance. War drums are beating quite loudly about this convergence of these two things.

Trump assembles B-2 bombers over Iran nuclear sites as CRINK nations prepares their response

FROM KEN KLIPPENSTEIN: In the largest single deployment of stealth bombers in U.S. history, the Pentagon has sent six B-2 “Spirit” aircraft to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The long-range bombers, which are uniquely suited to evade Iranian air defenses and can carry America’s most potent bunker busting weapons, flew in from Missouri last week in a little noticed operation.

The B-2s carry not just bombs, but a message for Iran: “do you see our sword?,” as one retired general told Newsmax this week. President Donald Trump hasn’t been shy in threatening Iran, saying that if Tehran doesn’t close the door on a nuclear capability they will experience “bombing the likes of which they haven’t seen.”

“Hell” will “rain down” on the country, Trump has also said. Just today, amidst the stock market meltdown

Trump again reiterated his threat, saying that “doing a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious” — which to the president is undertaking a massive strike.

“To my knowledge, this is the largest B-2 deployment to a forward location,” Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists told me. Kristensen is the world’s leading tracker of nuclear comings and goings.

“All the bombers, they’re not in hangers, they’re underneath satellites where they can be photographed and seen; and the idea is, do you see our sword?” retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt, who served as Deputy U.S. Military Representative to NATO, said in an interview with Newsmax last week. Holt also said that the B-2 deployment “gives the president a military option that he can actually use these weapons against Iran if needed.”

This is a highly visible threat to Tehran, but at least one party isn’t supposed to notice: the American people. The Pentagon refuses to acknowledge that the deployment is even happening. Trump’s new Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell has only vaguely alluded to “other air assets” being deployed it has announced that two aircraft carriers will stay in the region, the result of a delay in sending one home after its current deployment.

According to Google Trends, searches for terms like “B-2” and “war with Iran” have only modestly increased, indicating that public curiosity has been suppressed despite Donald Trump’s many threats to attack his enemies. READ MORE
