Hobby Lobby May Close All Stores In 41 States Due To Obamacare Abortion Mandate

| January 26, 2014

RELATED STORY: Obama Brags That Taxpayer-Funded Abortion Will Never Stop In America

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God’s word.

From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the  nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest.

Obama’s appetite to shed the blood of helpless, innocent babies is insatiable.

We believe that it is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at  80% above minimum wage. But now, our government threatens to change all of that.

A new government healthcare mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs.

It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy.
Our government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years running.
Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs.  It’s not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the  rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But that’s not true.

The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost.  But it won’t exempt them for reasons of religious belief.

So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is  going to make that much more difficult.

The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law.  I say that’s a choice no American and no American business should have to make. The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.

Since you will not see this in the liberal media, please pass this on to all your contacts.

Sincerely,
David Green
CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

  1. The Misconception of Hobby Lobby | February 13, 2014
  1. STL says:

Get ready for Black Monday, if the pesos loses on Monday it will effect the Stocks in the USA.

Then more stores will fall, not just because of Obamacare but world currencies.

  2. Edmund Ludde says:

    Dear Mr. Green:
There are many people out here that support you and commend your actions.
It takes a lot of courage to end your business and may God bless you

    Edmund C Ludde

  3. Teresa says:

Hobby Lobby, I will spread the word. The Little Sisters have a court injunction. WHAT is going to wake up people? I believe conscience’s are seared to what is going on. Without God’s law written on our hearts we would be as the masses blindly following the forces of sin running our media and country. Lord help David Green to save jobs and lives of the unborn.

    • Prophecy is being played out, and your observation of consciences being seared is spot on. As this continues to escalate it will become more and more apparent, and will not produce a waking up of the general population at all, and even much of the church is succumbing to the influence. Laodiceanism is becoming more and more rampant, and will continue until Christ actually returns and sets up His kingdom and those who are true saints will rule and reign with Him for a thousand years! “Even so, come Lord Jesus!”

  4. Sandy says:

I understand what you and your family believe in, but I think it’s a little ridiculous that you will close stores and put hundreds of people without jobs.

    • Teresa B says:

Sandy you might want to research more Hobby Lobby is not the only store in the courts all for the same reason. I am not sure why you are on this site if you are not a Christian except to learn from others. I don’t expect you to understand if you are not a follower of Christ. If you come back here, take the time to read peoples Scripture and the meaning of it. It is important you gather as much knowledge of Christ as you can, to learn we need him as our Savior, time is of the essence. Have a good day

      • Steve says:

Great response to “Sandy” Teresa B. You nailed it!!

        • Brighton says:

Actually, it’s one of the most condescending and UNchristianlike replies I’ve read in a very long time. Christians are not “above” any other. God never gave you that. What He DID give you is the responsibility to be humble. Teresa’s reply is nothing close to humble, but rather, it is humiliating and unnecessary.
Now here’s a point for the Greens to ponder: Just how many of their employees have asked for abortion-causing drugs to date? If they are a christian-based company, and their employees, I imagine, follow suit, is this really a concern for them? I can’t imagine a fine upstanding chrisitan employer like Mr. Green to hire non-christians. I think it’s merely a ploy to throw gasoline on the fire of “christian oppression”, which doesn’t exist, by the way.

          • Frank says:

Brighton, You’re missing the point of the ObamaCare law. Even if NO ONE employed by Hobby Lobby wants abortion-causing drugs, Hobby Lobby is mandated to provide the insurance that covers the availability of those drugs to their employees. That is what is objectionable to Mr. Green. P.S. Brighton, if you think “Christian Oppression” doesn’t exist, you must not be a Christian who is standing up for the Word of God in this increasingly hostile secular society.

          • Amelia says:

Those drugs are still available to people who have any form of money – Plan B is now available without prescription at any drugstore. So when employers pay their employees, they are doing so with the understanding that the money given may in fact be used for something immoral, and you employ people who you trust to represent your company well in their choices with their money earned from you. But the point is that employees deserve access to HEALTH CARE. An employer is not condoning all of the choices of the health care company, and employees do not have to take part in using things provided by the health care company which they find immoral. The internet has lots of things I am wholly opposed to, but I still expect a library to give me internet access, and I don’t consider them implicit in any of horrible things I may find available on it. Hobby Lobby can put their efforts into educating their employees to make moral choices when it comes to life before birth, and more hearts will be won to Christ that way anyway because it goes to the heart issue, not the policy. Christ called on his followers to give taxes to Caesar, which I’m sure were put towards endeavors that were not godly, but He called them to worry about conversion of their peers and society on a heart level.

          • Lilly says:

PLAN B IS NOT THE ABORTION PILL YOU SMALL MINDED NIM RODS

          • Anna says:

Separation of church and state. The government doesn’t do anything based on religious beliefs. We’re thankfully not a theocracy here in the United States. Which means that laws that are passed do not take religious beliefs into account.
Furthermore why bring a child into the world that is unwanted? Especially when it can be taken care of before the fetus is even developed.

          • Just as well that thinking did not prevail in womankind when Mary became pregnant by God.
She would have been guilty of killing her savior & the savior of mankind.
And what think you of those which are killed even after the child is born? But this too was prophesied in the first book ever written even before the flood. Enoch 12 “And the fifth was named Kasdeia, he who showed the children of men all the wicked smiting of spirits & demons & the smiting of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away”.

          • And what then of partial birth, also advocated by your loving President to get rid of the unwanted?
Enoch 99 v5 ” And in those days the destitute will abort & mangle their own children, & they will abandon them so that their children will perish through them” They will abandon their infants & not return to them, & will have no pity on their beloved ones. Again I swear to you sinners, that sin is prepared for a day of unceasing bloodshed”…
How can God Judge the sinner if He prevents them from their sin, do you want a dictator? Well you have one but he is not the Christ, but the ant-Christ Obama, the killer just as you chose.

          • Well you had better tell that to the thousands of Christians who are being raped & murdered by Islamists like Obama all around the world. Brighton I believe you have no idea what Christians stand for or what their response should be & to think that any employer can stipulate or hire only Christians would be discrimination, & against the law in my country, but even if they did there is always the chance of being fooled by liars like so many in your country have been & why you now have the President who is bent on destroying not just the Christian faith, but also your “fine” country. And another thing you “cannot imagine” is how a man could stand against such evil at such cost to himself & others because you have no faith & therefore cannot “imagine” the greater evil that is to come, like Germany. That is what makes Christians “above” the others & also the only way you can tell who are the true ones. How’s that for “condescending” arrogance! We’re the King’s Kids mate!

      • Randy K says:

Sandy is 100% correct. Follower of Christ??? You have got to be kidding me. Is that the same Christ who watched 2 buildings get brought down by Terrorists on 9/11? Is that the same Christ who allowed such nut-jobs as Jarod Laughner kill innocent people including children in Tuscon? Is that the same Christ who allowed all those children to be shot to death in Sandy Hook? Is that the same Christ who watched and did nothing when 19 brave Fire-Fighting volunteers all died trying to save others? If that’s YOUR Christ, if there’s even a shred of evidence that he even exists, then you can keep him. Me, i’m not into the sick supernatural.

        • Hey Randy why don’t you look up “Sandy Hook False Flag Scam” if you want to know who was responsible for Sandy Hook & the Twin Towers, because it certainly wasn’t Jesus, but God prophesied it 300yrs before Christ came in Isaiah 30v25 ” there shall be rivers & streams of water on every hillside & mountain in the day of the great slaughter, when the TOWERS FALL”. And he also “For this is a people without discernment; therefore He who made them will have no compassion on them, He who formed them will show them no favour”. Isaiah 27Vv11. You will only wake up when they take the guns from the Christians & herd them into the trains! That’s what Sandy Hook is about Sandy.

        • You have a very serious MENTAL Issue or you’re a Very EVIL human. It was Satan you pathetic Moron. You’re blinded by Satan and are exhibiting behavior much like a Reprobate. Seek the Truth in Jesus Christ or perish in Eternal HELL. You are going to sentence yourself to Eternal Damnation. Maybe you like the HEAT Down Below. It’s waiting for you. So Sad.

    • watchman48 says:

Integrity and Christians morals is what produces a God fearing man/woman of God….. And the Sovereign God of all creation set the laws by which man was to live by if he desired a long and prosperous life…. But the sin nature that resides within all of us has corrupted all our lives…. So, should a person lower their moral standards to accommodate a man made law that sheds innocent blood? No!
God’s Law supersedes man’s godless laws every time.

      • Ron Murphy says:

It is so, 48. But Jesus didn’t come to destroy what God, ordained, but rather, He said:
Mat_22:21 Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

We can not save the world, neither is it meant to be. But we can bring as much light into the world as possible.

        • Teresa B says:

Amen to that Ron, thank you, and have a Blessed Day B as well

        • watchman48 says:

Ron, yes a Christian should pay his taxes….. But a Christian should never compromise on godly morals nor on his integrity to get alone with the godless. Once the Christian starts compromising his integrity his walk with Christ is in great jeopardy.

          • Ron Murphy says:

Jesus did not compromise, but yet neither did he over throw the government, that’s my point. We made our stand when we voted. It didn’t turn out good for us, let the young learn, and maybe we can chose more wisely next time around. But we are a country given choices, it’s up to us to choose wisely or suffer for those choices. The same applies to choosing Christ. It is our duty as Christians to point the way, it is up to America to follow that way.

          • suez says:

@Watchman 48…AMEN to that one too!!!

          • watchman48 says:

Ron [but yet neither did he over throw the government] – In the Old Testament we read how God allowed the Israelites to be attacked by those from heathen nations, because the hearts of the Israelites had turned away from Him… Therefore by overthrown Israel’s government.
Aug’94 after reading the Engineer’s Report of the ’93 WTC bombing I began praying, during this prayer I suddenly spoke out that those behind this attack will be back to hit this #2 Tower again, and when they do they will take the #2 Tower to the ground. I spoke this warning for the next 7 yrs. God will never allow the destruction of a people or nation before first sending His warnings (Amos 3:7) hoping that the hearts of the people might turn to Him.
God’s warnings of the next major attack will be approx. 1000 times that of the 9/11/01 attack and still the vast majority of people will refuse to believe in God’s existence, and many who do believe in God will even blame Him for allowing it to happen.
God has clearly given His warnings of America’s destruction but the vast majority refuses to listen to these warnings and turn to seek Him… Thus America’s destruction will be like none other in all of man’s history…
Jan. 22, ’97 as I was praying over the abortion issue the Holy Spirit whispered into my left ear saying, “I will repay America double for her iniquities.”

Nether Pres. Obama or all our Armed Forces can save America, Only Christ Jesus will save those that are His.

      • suez says:

        @Watchman 48 Amen to that!!!!

    • Steve says:

Sandy, shame on you!! Didn’t you read the article??

They believe to honor God is more important than to turn a profit!!

Believers need to support their decision and God will honor them in the process.

Each passing day now, is darker and darker.

Begins with Black Monday and Obamas speech (lies) to the country. God’s wrath is growing on America.

    • Frank says:

Sandy, maybe you do not have the convictions of your beliefs, but Mr Green, his family and, I’ll bet, many of his employees and many of us Christians know we must follow God’s word over the dictates of government when those dictates violate the Word of God. This government is dedicated to making us all dependent on it by putting people out of work and forcing them to rely on the government for their livelihood. From outlawing coal, fracking, drilling for oil and now the oppressive ObamaCare being forced down our throats, this administration is doing all it can to “Fundamentally change” a proud, strong, patriotic nation into a third world country.

    • suez says:

@Sandy, so your saying, oh, go ahead and murder babies, as long as people have jobs!!! Wow!!! Psa 106:38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
Psa 106:39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Psa 106:40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
Psa 106:41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Psa 106:42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
Hmm, sound familiar? The Muslims are moving in folks!! Is God turning America over to the hands of the heathen from our shedding of the innocent blood of babies???

    • Lobster says:

This story has been shown to be absolutely false. Hobby Lobby has no plans to close any stores. What a surprise…a right wing blog makes up stories to support its views. Yawn…nothing to see here. Simply type in hobby lobby and obamacare in google and you can find the story.

    • Elaine Coker says:

It is not ridiculous. They are listening to the Holy Spirit. The one you should be blaming is obama and this administration.

  5. Rick says:

@ Sandy: You would think that! Pathetic!! I hope they shut it all down. You and yours bow to the government!! ALL OTHERS STAND TALL!! you see people like you are the problem. Just do this little thing. Even if it goes against everything you believe!! Pathetic!!

  6. Lanny says:

Mr. Green, I salute you brother for your strong faith and stand with you. Its to bad more people can’t shed the scales from there eyes so they to, can see whats going on in our precious America today. We’ll continue to pray for you and yours! God Bless

  7. David says:

    Sandy
Nothing pathetic about following God’s laws and principles as outlined in the Bible Those who do are blessed and those who do not are not That is also true of nations and countries You will be blessed or cursed the choice is yours God looks on abortion as the shedding of innocent blood that cries out to Him and He hears that cry

  8. Sheilah says:

I applaud you for standing so strong on the principles you believe. I do hope the courts rule in your favor so that your stores can remain open and employees can keep their jobs. One would think that would be important to the government too……except a strong company and a strong economy is not on the agenda.
Good luck and I will help spread the word.

  9. Abel Mello says:

I love your stores its usually where I buy all my crosses and crafts for my daughter. I will spread the word and keep you in prayer. As Christians we need to stand together on this issue.

  10. David says:

Sandy one other thing I do not think you do understand there has been compromise expected of Christians to suit society according to man made laws and not God’s Laws God’s Law is SUPREME not laws brought in by the whim of people

  11. eddie says:

All things work for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. A nation gets the leaders it deserves. America has put itself in the plethora of predicaments it now regrets. While the whole system and sequence of effects is part of God’s plan, it still bothers us Christians. So pray without ceasing, give thanks for all things, and pass the ammunition.

    • STL says:

Teresa; you said, here they come! Why did not people post here comes the Mexicans? Only different with muslim instead posting there hate against american like mexicans do, the muslim will kill the americans from there hate!

Why you think muslims hate americans?

Because we go to there countries forceably make them live under our rules, tell them how they will live and act.

If someone came to your home, tell you how you should act, would you like it?

      • Teresa B says:

STL you do here me screaming NO IMMIGRANTS

      • suez says:

STL, Really?? You need to read there Koran…It says kill all the infidels. Meaning Christians, Jews and anyone who won’t convert to Muslim. That is why they want to kill us. They have been a waring people since the bible days. Ismael verses Issac, and it is still that way. They really don’t need a reason to kill. They like to kill…they are a waring people!! :-(

  12. murphy says:

I don’t understand how putting hundreds of people out of work when it’s so hard to get jobs right now, and taking insurance away from people who may need it to survive fits in with Christian beliefs. Seems more like the business owner version of taking your ball, and going home because you didn’t get your way. If you don’t believe in these drugs, don’t use them. Personal beliefs are just that, personal. Don’t force them on others who may not share them.

    • Teresa B says:

Murphy read the above comments pretty explanatory. If you are not a Christian you do not understand not will you.

      Nucky same to you.

      • murphy says:

I was raised in a Christian home, went to church every Sunday for the first 16 years of my life, and went to a Christian private school. I do understand that some Christians have the attitude that they know better than everyone else because they read a book. That attitude is what pushed me away from the church because to me it went against what was supposed to be the Christian way. Same with your fear mongering posts here. I won’t be responding again because I don’t think you even know what it’s supposed to mean to be a Christian

        • Teresa B says:

Murphy, I do know what you are talking about because I was raised in Mainstream Churches not Evangelical if you will. There is a difference in Teaching and I did not know that until about 12 yrs ago. Since then I have learned what Scripture means, and what it means to have a personal relationship w Jesus Christ, not just believing in God. Maybe that is what you experienced? Its not that we think we know what is right, its what Scripture teaches us about how to live our lives following Christ, not Man or the World. It is very easy to get lost in all of it. There is no fear mongering other than Scripture is very clear about the End Times, with Phrophecy playing out as well w what already has played out in History.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

We must be born again, repentence of our Sins and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

I am sorry if you think it was I who offended, but we need to tell folks. Have a nice day.

        • It was the opposite for me Murphy.

I was raised in a non Christian home, experienced some tough times (as we all do) and was saved by Christ!

I can understand how being raised in a Christian environment can turn people away from being Christ like when parents, family, friends and the church do not represent Christ and are hypocritical.

Its only until He Himself comes to you and opens up your mind and fills you with the Holy Spirit that you can get the sense of things, only He knows when you are ready.

My friend, ask Him to come into your life and pour out your heart to Him.

These fear mongering posts are trying to plant the seed and wake everyone up!!

We are praying for you to come back to Him my friend ;)

    • Ron Murphy says:

Who’s forcing anything? Is it not Muslims that do that? I don’t see Christians forcing anything on any body. That’s just your opinion, murphy. Now don’t we have ours, or would you like to force it away from us.

      • Brighton says:

Ron…I strongly suggest you not only review HISTORICAL FACTS about christianity, but current events as well. Perhaps you don’t “see” christians forcing anything on anybody because you, like MANY christians, have closed your eyes to the teachings of Christ and have re-defined christianity to suit your beliefs that everyone should live as you see fit. If anything is being “forced” away from christians, it’s their ability force everyone to live by their rules. And it rightly should be forced away from them. You have a right to believe & live how you choose. So does everyone.

        • Frank says:

Brighton, I agree that there have been some Christians who have tried to force other to “become Christians.” But true Christianity does not force anyone. We simply try to show you what the Word of God says and then let God work on your heart. Some Christians (especially new ones) are excited to share their beliefs and are doing so in love. They know that unless you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are in trouble. But no one can force you to believe anything you don’t want to believe.

          • Well said Frank,

The enthusiasm can be hard to hold back……. we can only plant the seed can’t we :)

@ Brighton, brother you will have to kneel to Christ one day and confess that He is your Lord, as we all will.

I pray that He comes to you and opens up your eyes my friend, you will not look back ;)

          • suez says:

Amen down Under, they can kneel at the Cross, or they will kneel at the Great White Throne Judgement!! But one way or the other, every knee will bow!!!! :-)

          • Right on Suez,

I pray to be shown mercy everyday!

You can imagine how sorry these folks will be when they realise that He will be deciding their fate…..

        • Ron Murphy says:

We protestants can not be hold responsible for what Catholics have done is the past. It was mostly us that were persecuted by them. And yes we did persecute witchcraft and to some point, still do. But we do not as protestant Christians, force anyone. If you feel forced, perhaps it might be the Spirit of God tugging at your heart. He does knock from time to time, it all up to you to open that door and let Him in.

          • Ron Murphy says:

Joh 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Rev_3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

          • Well said Ron, you gotta be cruel to be kind sometimes!

One thing for sure is that I am not a fan of people that have brought up as a Christian, and think that they have been there and done that and that they know all about Him, yet reject Him and think that they know His word.

I do not know what these kind of people may have experienced in their lifetime, but to say to others that they have lived as a Christian and that the answers are not there shows that His Spirit has left them for one reason or another.

Im not being judgemental because I haven’t been there, but my life has improved incredibly since knowing Him :)

My uncertainty and confusion of the future is taken away and replaced with hope and insight ;)

          • suez says:

Jud 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jud 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Also, there is a big difference between a head knowledge and a heart knowledge. Some may have believed with their head, but it never went to the heart! That is the seed that was plucked up. I really don’t think if it really a whole heart conversion, they don’t slip away!! What would you leave someone you really really love??? I know I wouldn’t, by the grace of God!!! :-)

  13. Nucky Goldberg says:

    Sandy, totally agree with you.

  14. David says:

Where did Obama get the right to dictate what he is doing about abortion and gay rights!!! You come against Christian beliefs and say nothing about Muslim beliefs! Maybe it is because you are afraid to? You are concerned about protecting the rights of gays but not the killing of men women and children because the are Christian? Why do you not speak out?

    • Oh, and what Goliath have you slain lately?

    • Why speak out now?
We have already let them have their way. We voted in these evil thugs. Yes, that is all they are…evil thugs. And now everybody is crying because they will soon be taking us to the chopping block.
      God will repay.
2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
      2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
2Th 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

    • Frank says:

Speaking of Muslims, David, they also condemn homosexuality. According to About.com: In many Muslim countries, acting upon homosexual feelings — the behavior itself — is condemned and subject to legal punishment. The specific punishment varies among jurists, ranging from jail time or flogging, to the death penalty. In Islam, capital punishment is only reserved for the most grievous crimes which hurt society as a whole. Some jurists view homosexuality in that light, particularly in countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Yemen.

    • suez says:

David who are you talking to? Obama is making his own rights! Because he is wanting to be a KING!!! I certainly am NOT protecting gay rights or abortion. I detest them both!!! They are both abominations in God eyes!!!

  15. STL says:

Teresa: David asked you a question?

  16. David says:

It wasn’t for Teresa it was for those who are posting in general It is interesting that those who speak negatively about Christianity are silent on some of these questions I think a lot has to do with the spirit of the antiChrist that is influencing people’s lives

    • Ron Murphy says:

Persecution will come for us also, David. They re very precious in God’s eyes. Their reward is great.

Heb 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

    • Teresa B says:

thank you David I knew it wasn’t for me. Blessings to you

    • Brighton says:

Perhaps it’s just that the questions are so one-sided, and no amount of facts or information will change how you view those whose lives you wish to control if they aren’t just like you? And really??? “The spirit of the antichrist”? Maybe it’s just common sense and decency.

  17. Paul says:

So, the people who run Hobby Lobby and claim to be so kind to their employees are saying they’d shut down, just based on the beliefs of the owner? Ridiculous. Absolutely selfish and wrong. People rely on that income and this will ruin their lives

  18. Melinda Somogyi says:

I’m not sure it would be such a bad thing if Hobby Lobby closed its doors. This store is very over-priced compared to other craft stores – it’s unbelievable! And honestly, the quality is mediocre.

    • Teresa B says:

Melinda you must not shop there regularly or you wouldn’t make those statements. What kind of person intentionally says they want a Business to close its doors?? Why would you make the assumption that non Believers work there and have an issue w them? They are being forced a Healthcare, as we all are, that does not fit their Beliefs. They are fighting it out in the courts as that is their right. Whats your real agenda?

    • suez says:

@Melinda, Really??? Oh, lets not worry about o vomit permitting all the horrible abortions, that are killing millions of innocent little babies, and people loosing their jobs, Let just worry about you over paying and the quality of the goods…Oh my goodness….you poor thing!!! UNREAL!!! :-( 2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
      2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

  19. Bob says:

Persecution of christians will be much worse as time slides on. Keep up your spirits and push om———–

  20. STL says:

    GLOBAL MELTDOWN WORSE THAN 2008!

Venezuelan government devalued the Bolivar Peso more than 40%.
Agentina increase inflation by 11%, devalued their peso by 30%.

China banks locked their doors on Friday.

    Turkish Lira is collapsing.

Mexico peso is devalued in One day by 1 peso. The peso being equal to one dollar is 10 pesos to a dollar. Right now, its posted at 13.45 pesos to one dollar. And they said when the doors open Monday the peso going to collapse!

  21. STL says:

Ron Murphy: remember my conversation with Dane/DM2, that he thought I abandoned the USA. Right now, I’m sure glad I made that decision to move to Mexico, the peso is collapsing and each peso is increase and i living on the dollar, that increse in my favor. Since the peso is $ 13.45 my pension has increase $ 345.00 dollars in just one day here. I was paying only $ 30.00 dollars per year for my house and land taxes, but now, I’m paying $ 22.00 dollars per year. Don’t you wish your house taxes was that low each year?

I wish I was living in the USA, but financial I made the right move for now!

    • I think that it was a blessing in disguise that I don’t have a mortgage, and that God has prevented me from having some of these high paying jobs that I didn’t get………because I would have done a stupid thing and bought a house.

Its not a stupid thing, but in this day and age it is, some people in Australia are borrowing %120 from the banks to purchase their first home.

If you saw how expensive houses are over here, you would shake your head in disgrace.

My wife and I had a plan to move to Peru in the future and buy a house over there, but thats a big move and some major lifestyle adjustments!!

Not a definite, but it is an option.

I was reading about the value of the peso and the looting happening in Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil, and I’m sure it will spread through most of South America in the not too distant future.

1 Australian dollar is equivalent to 3 Peruvian dollars or there abouts.

      • Ron Murphy says:

Good to see you, Brother. I’m happy to see you walking in the Spirit!

        • You too buddy ;)

Yeah mate, all the disappointments I have had not getting these good jobs over the past decade, has just been our Father protecting me, because if I had a burdensome mortgage right now, on top of everything else…….boy would I be struggling.

My mum, is still paying off her house (which is where ill be taking wife and daughter when the SHTF!!) but she aint far off finalising that, she has done pretty well doing it alone for the last 20 yrs!

My brother is about to sell his house……..and the majority of it he has to give back to the bank (he just spent 5 years renovating too) so he is back to square 1.

Now I have to try and convince him not to buy another house and save what he has left…….impossible task!

I really feel for my American brothers and sisters that don’t truly know God for what is to come, even though all the western world and the whole world will experience strife soon……I pray for everyone to be saved :)

    • My house tax in Tenn. is just 105.00 per year. So am not complaining one bit…….and my house and land is paid in full. God is good! :)

      • Im glad that you don’t have that mortgage burden Brenda!

First home buyers in this generation are screwed.

I don’t plan to have a mortgage at this time, I know that it may be way too burdensome in the years to come, as long as I have a place in God’s kingdom then I will be happy :)

        • Yes, I didn’t have a mortgage. It was a rent to own, and my late husband died of cancer, and I paid the land off with the insurance policy that he left me. It took it all, but I still have my home. I will see him some day……again. God has been good to me, now I have Ron.
I try to walk with the Lord always. :)

          • Im sorry to hear that.

But, God has certainly blessed you :)

I wish we had rent to own……..not the fridges or TV’s either!

          • suez says:

We have 10 acres and a nice home. Thanks be to God for the blessing, as it is paid for. But, even then, is that a good thing or a bad thing? What if they decide they want it? With all the new changes ovomit is making and trying to make in the Constitution, who knows if we will keep what is ours? Or, what if we can’t pay the taxes if they raise them so high people can’t pay? So whether your place is paid for or not, time will tell, what will happen. If they take it, we are out 300,00 to the government!!! That will be a bad thing!!! We have a school bus. I told my hubby to make a mini home out of it, encase we have to flee our home. LOL Check this out:::: Tiny-House-Living.com

          • Thats it hey Suez,

There is a loophole for everything, as you said, all the laws that are being changed with most people not aware, and if they are they think that it won’t affect them.

Same thing happening here in Australia, not of the magnitude in the U.S, but all the same anyway, the devil will find a way to force everyone to submit to him, the mongrel he is.

Good idea about the school bus though, make it zombie and reptilian proof!! ;)

          • suez says:

            @Down Under, Oh, OK,,,LOL I do hate snakes!!! :-)

          • Yeah, I think we need to build up our spiritual house, that’s all that matters, anyway, right? :)

1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    • Ron Murphy says:

America has abandoned God, STL. You didn’t abandon America, Mexico is America. I didn’t care what part you are in. Dane, needs to learn patience, just like the rest of us.

    • suez says:

STL, try not to get to comfortable, the money will collapse in every country. We will all be on the NWO’s currency in the not to distant future!!! :-) So, I wouldn’t feel to cocky yet, if I was you!!! LOL

  22. STL says:

Teresa: Each time I hear people say, God came to destroy the world/earth, but that’s not true, God’s going to recreate this earth into a new earth. The problem that people are in the wrong place at the wrong time, the unrighteous will be destroy, not the earth!

    • Teresa B says:

Amen STL have a great day

    • Ron Murphy says:

I have to disagree a little, STL.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

We really can’t said what will happen, a new heaven might be a new galaxy. Either way, we will have spiritual bodies at that time and that is things we don’t know much about yet. God may indeed make this earth over but it will be much different. The fact that the sea is gone says a lot.

      • suez says:

Ron, Well I hope he at least has some very large lakes!!! LOL I couldn’t imagine a world without some bodies of water!! I will miss the mountains also. God created the earth beautiful and good. It is man that has messed it up…sadly!

  23. walker50 says:

Pro choice all the way. If youre against abortion……dont have one. Simple as that.

    • Teresa B says:

walker50, so you are ok w Aborting life? Why exactly are you on here? We may not be aligned in beliefs but thank God your Mother did not have one, wouldn’t you agree?

    • @walker 50 in real terms…Pro killing babies all the way. If you’re against killing babies…don’t kill one. Simple as that.

    • Frank says:

Unfortunately, Walker, Your choice overrides the baby’s choice to become a productive member of our society. Your choice to snuff out a life tells God that you don’t give a dang about His decision to create a new life. So go ahead, Walker, keep thumbing your nose at God.

  24. buehlz says:

It is exactly due to Hobby Lobby’s non-hypocritical devotion to their beliefs that makes them my Craft store of choice. All of the critics who want to demonize HL, you should put the blame where it is deserved, at the feet of the immoral left who believe it’s fine to kill a human life to cancel irresponsible sexual activity, but are so quick to condemn the adherence to sacred non-violent religious beliefs. The govt could provide religious waivers to such companies, and allow tax deductions to offset the cost of these medicinal abortion drugs.

  25. STL says:

Ron Murphy: when all this mess is over with at the end of the Tribulation, Jesus will recreate this earth in 45 days, as I believe, will happen with Sun Burst of 5,000 degrees of heat as stated in 2 Peter 3:10, then with the continents relying, asteriods hitting the earth, Planet X swinging by earth, giant earthquakes, poor unrighteous ones, being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    • Ron Murphy says:

Well, STL, be what I read he will reconstruct the Middle East, but Rev 21:1 says there is no more sea that’s when He completely destroys the world after the millennium, after the dead are judged and death and hell are thrown into the lake of fire. If hell in in the ground, then just what does all this mean? Something to think about.

  26. Sandy Green says:

I am sad that they would willingly put people out of work because of birth control. No Abortion would be covered by federal funds. Birth Control is NOT and abortion pill. If they are so fabulously Christian, and follow all that is written in the bible, then their employees should not be allowed to eat shellfish, their smocks should not be made of a different material than any other part of their clothing. If any of their single female employees are not virgins, then they should be calling their fathers to stone them. They seem to think their religious views dictate what every person in their employ does. More importantly, Hobby Lobby should have titled their store Christian Hobby Lobby because they REFUSE to carry anything from any other religion. As a Catholic, having gone to a Catholic school we were taught to honor and respect all religions. I haven’t been in that store since they started this crap. Michaels, much better variety, much better treatment of all people.

    • Teresa B says:

Sandy the store carrys Crosses, Rosarys, what else Catholic would you like them to carry?

Birth Control might not be labled an Abortion Pill, but that’s one function.

I used to own a Sporting Goods store and was not mandated as to what I chose to sell nor should anyone be.

What part of the Bible do you follow? Pick and choose? Stone? Eating habits? Might want to check that.

Why does everyone assume the employees are unhappy? I read months ago a list of thousands of employees that supported their Employer.

If one does not believe as them why would they even apply for a job there.

You are wrong comparing Michaels to them as Hobby has a way larger Inventory than Michaels, it crosses areas to choose from. Michaels is more of a craft store. You also must not shop regularly there as most things I buy are 70% or or so. I don’t pay full price unless its within budget.

Why would I Honor any Religion, I am only to Honor the Lord.

      1 Samuel 2:30

Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteem

      Exodus 20:3

      King James Version (KJV)

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me

    • 50000000dead says:

There needs to be a line in the sand and HL is drawing it on this issue. Abortion is a heavy topic, and I commend HL for standing their ground on it. There is a wide spectrum of beliefs regarding what is right/wrong – from regular birth control to morning after pill to abortion – and HL is standing on the principle that they WILL NOT support what they are being forced to support.

Presently abortion IS funded by taxpayer dollars via Planned Parenthood and the likes. This is very offensive to pro-life people that their tax dollars are funding an organization that performs abortions.

I’m not trying to open a wide discussion about PP and pro-life vs. pro”choice” I’m just pointing out that abortion is already covered by federal funds as if that isn’t offensive enough. HL is drawing the line regarding the insurance THEY provide for THEIR employees and this is one line they won’t allow gov’t to cross, if they don’t stand up for your principles at some point then they’ll continue to get run over and forced to do things they don’t believe are right.

Also I don’t think HL is claiming to be “the perfect Christian company” and I don’t think a person/company needs to be perfect to have the right to stand up for their principles, do they? Are they really hypocritical in doing this?

  27. Hedylou Gassmanhedylou says:

Thank you Hobby Lobby for standing with JESUS. Your convictions, your work ethics, and your product selection keep me shopping at Hobby Lobby. I’ve passed this article on to all I know and have been following this issue for some time. My prayers will be with you. Sincerely, Hedylou Gassman

  28. Cathy says:

I hope Hobby Lobby has taken into account that without a regular regimen of hormones contained within the contraceptives, my acute blood loss and dysmenorrhea resulting from severe endometriosis never would have stopped; quite frankly I never would have stopped bleeding, my anemia never would have subsided, my debilitating migraines would have continued and my uterus would never have become a viable environment to carry my only son. I still need the contraceptives if I am to have more children and I am thankful I have the means to do so; it would be such a shame to have that opportunity stripped away from the hard working women of hobby lobby with horrible reproductive disorders like me.

    • Teresa B says:

Cathy, your condition is not that common but serious. But aren’t you assuming the women there are unhappy? I have heard no one complain since this all started, as a matter of fact at one time I read hundreds of names supporting their Employer. Read this and then tell my why Govt can do this to anyone? If I worked there and had your situation, I would have dif healthcare.

    • LT says:

HL isn’t against you having that. They are not trying to ban birth control. They are against the idea that government should force them to violate their religious beliefs.

Do you think government should force people to violate their religious beliefs?

    • suez says:

Well gee, maybe you mom should have aborted you, then you wouldn’t of had all those problems!!! That is how stupid that sounds!!! Lets all just worry about ourselves, and not be concerned for the millions of babies being tortured and murdered every year! :-(

  29. STL says:

Sandy: The reports are coming out that in 2013, there were more abortions than all the deaths in WW1,WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq 1&2, Afganstan wars.

  30. Jenna says:

I wish Hobby Lobby would just close, so other craft stores could pick up the slack and hire more people. We don’t need more homophobe bigots or men deciding that raped women should carry the baby. I sincerely hope HB crashes and burns.

    • Teresa B says:

Jenna who are you and why are you here? To be Blasphemous to our God? How many Employees of HB do you think got raped and had to carry their baby? Really?? Who do you hear about been raped and had to carry their baby? NO ONE HAS TO CARRY A BABY.

Do you understand what you said? I wish Hobby Lobby would just close, so other craft stores could pick up the slack and hire more people. How many mom and pop Craft Stores could pick up slack, they cant even get loans due to Govt Regulations or employ more than a number of people to NOT be FORCED OBAMACARE.

    • suez says:

Oh, Jenna, what a sweetie pie you are!!! :-( Not!!!

  31. ed says:

I like Hobby lobby and totally support their faith. I only am saddened with the lack of faith displayed by so called Christians. We are in the last moments of the dispensation of Go’s Grace, and (so called, or self named Christians) rather have a social club, then study the Bible II Timothy 2:15.

  32. John says:

I’m a Christian and I think you all are completely nuts!! The CEO of Hobby Lobby is a crazy person. If being hateful towards people that don’t believe in the Christian God….makes me not want to be a part of Christianity. I’ve been married for 65 years. I’d say my morals are pretty good. But you people and your “judgements” towards non-christians….terrible.

    • Teresa B says:

John, no one is judging here. Who on here is judgemental? Because we quote Scripture or tell truth? One cannot straddle a fence w Christ its one way or another and we are to stand for the Gospel. When one makes accusations such as being judged I appreciate if it is pointed out. Thank you, have a good day

    • 50000000dead says:

I don’t see how HL is being hateful. The issue isn’t about retribution or trying to get even, it’s about a very practical issue that they won’t go against their principles, isn’t it? Any employer should have the freedom to provide whatever kind of benefits they want, so forcing them to provide coverage they don’t want to support is rather hateful too then isn’t it? Is HL forcing it’s employees to work there? Are they taking something away from them?….because they never had that coverage before so how is it hateful not to provide it? And is it really so expensive to pay for these pills that people need insurance to cover it? Seriously?

HL never offered the controversial things in their medical insurance benefit before, they’re merely refusing to ADD coverage that they don’t want to provide.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding you about how they’re being hateful or hypocritical?

    • watchman48 says:

John you can abortion what ever you wish but God calls the fetus life at conception…. Read The Greater Message for proof….. http://watchman48.blogspot.com/

      • suez says:

@Watchman48! Amen Brother! Jer 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

    • suez says:

@John Tit 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. John what makes you a “christian”? It is not being a good person and having good morals, although we should have them, but our works do not save us. The blood of Jesus Christ does! Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

  33. Mary B says:

Sadly, outlawing legal, safe abortions will NOT stop abortions. Hobby Lobby closing over this issue will only put people out of work; not exactly a Christian act.

    • 50000000dead says:

The gov’t puts people out of work every day with regulations on all sorts of industries, like the coal industry. I’m not saying regulations are bad and not trying to argue about the coal industry – rather I’m saying if putting people out of work is soooo horrible then why is it OK for the gov’t to do it? Are all gov’t actions justifiable simply by virtue of being the gov’t?

Besides that, isn’t it judgmental of you to claim that HL putting people out of work is un-Christian?

I’m not trying to accuse you of anything, just trying to understand your position.

You are right that outlawing abortions will not stop abortions, but it would be nice if taxpayer dollars didn’t fund abortions, and outlawing would certainly slow it down a ton and force a change in our culture’s mentality towards sexual “freedom”.

  34. STL says:

Everyone this Hobby Lobby sound like the same thing was going on a few weeks ago with the Duck Dynasty, the do’s and don’t’s,
nothing will get solve from these issues.

  35. STL says:

Its a terrible thing for a woman to be rape. But since she’s with a baby, she needs to carry it to birth, then give the child to a needy family that can not concieve. But abortion in God’s eyes is murder!

  36. Brian S says:

I am a Christian. Did it ever occur to any of you that God gave man the knowledge of how to perform abortions? I am not for abortion, however, my Bible tells me not to judge others as only He knows all, and judges all, and there may be a reason beyond my comprehension as to why people seek abortions and why He allows it to happen.

    • STL says:

Brian S: How do you kmnow that God gave man knowledge of how to perform abortion? It could of well be it was Satan gave these doctors, the knowledge to perform abortions. If these doctor that have read Jeremiah 1:5- Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I concrated you.

Then these doctors would of known they were mudering these babies?

    • A doctor learning to abort babies is not a gift from God…it is from the pits of hell.

    • Ron Murphy says:

Brian, that’s like saying God gave man the knowledge to worship idols or to sin. All knowledge comes from God. It’s man that corrupts that knowledge.

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Gen 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
STL, looks like God already destroyed it once.

    • watchman48 says:

Brian – Knowledge and wisdom is not the same thing….. Wisdom is gained from what man has experienced in life, but true wisdom comes from God. There is nothing in this life that man can say for a certainty, unless he has seen, or experienced directly or indirectly that which pertains to his statements, beliefs, or faith.

    • suez says:

@Brian. What a sick perverted concept of God you have. God doesn’t sin, man does. You must have forgotten there is also a Devil, Satan, the dragon. Could it been his idea? Why yes, I think it might have! God said he would allow them to do what ever their hearts would conceive. But they will be heavily judged for their evilness!!! :-( This is why God will destroy these type of people if they do not repent and turn to him. I suppose God gave men the skill to sacrifice to idol’s also??? Rape and murder? What a sad way to think about God. God gave people a free will, it is man that chooses evil, just as Adam and Eve chose to sin against God in the Garden. Man is still sinning against God and his commandments! God said not to kill, then you say “maybe God gave them the knowledge to kill babies??? Would God go against himself, and his word? Sir you need to start reading the Bible!!! God is Holy!!! Period!!!

  37. Mindy says:

Yeah it is sad, I like the store.. but what they are doing is wrong. They are saying that to work for us, you have to believe the way that we believe. In essence they are doing the same thing as the law. The only difference is that as God does, the law gives the person the right to make his own choice. Whether it is wrong or right,it is still their choice to make. So giving good jobs to good people is a fantastic thing to do…trying to make them believe in what you believe in is not with what God has taught us.

    Two things:
    1) David Green’s decision doesn’t change anything in terms of “leaving people without jobs.” Those are David Green’s jobs, to do with as he pleases. He built the company. He took the risks. He gets to decide.
    2) it is odd that you criticize Mr. Green for choosing to sacrifice jobs. He’s doing so because it’s the only way he can avoid forced participation in what he believes is murder. If face with a decision of of death on on hand or continued employment on the other, I’d choose life every time. You can get another job, but you can’t grant someone another life.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves – Matthew 7:15

You won’t hear it, see it or read it in the mainstream news, but the persecution of true believers in Jesus is greater today than in any other time in modern history. Christians across the world are the targets of discrimination, marginalization, and even murder in wholesale numbers. In America, our Christian faith was once considered inviolable and our Judeo-Christian heritage was viewed as the cornerstone of our spirituality and culture. Today, Christians in America are being forced into subjugation by the laws of a corrupt government. Despite this full frontal assault on true Christians, the pulpits are virtually silent.

Beyond the silence from the Church, something even more insidious is taking place. Something that’s not being addressed, save for the few who are standing up to fulfill their roles as true watchmen and ministers of the Word of our fathers—by our Father. The Word as ministered, spoken and recorded from the apostles and prophets is being perverted by the purveyors of “Pulp Prophecy.” The body of God’s church is not only under attack, but many are being led astray from within the church through false or perverted doctrines from the panderers of the pulpits.

Deception, ever so subtle in word and deed, is being preached and taught by those who are leading their flocks to a certain, predetermined end. Look closely, for you will see not just the imprimatur, but the fingerprints of the devil himself on a doctrine that is totally alien to true Christendom. It’s a doctrine which is being embraced in wholesale numbers by many who are seeking salvation without spiritual discernment.

It is much easier for many to believe in false doctrines over true salvation when pastors, priests, and ministers embrace and preach the ideals that demand conformance to a socialist utopia that is slickly marketed by global despots to the “franchise-ministers of the mega-ministries.” The doctrines that will lead many astray, and those behind the pulpits pushing these doctrines, purposely omit any reference to the power of the resurrection and overcoming matters of the world, as such doctrine is socially, personally and politically inconvenient.

Much like the multi-level geopolitical chess game being played on the world stage, so too is the multi-level infiltration of false teachers leading Christians astray through their false doctrines. We need to get back to the fundamental truths—the faith once delivered to us by the apostles and prophets and unsullied by Satan. The stakes could not be greater, for it our eternal salvation at risk.

One of the main reasons why I do not attend any church.

I think that intense prayer and reading of his word is the only way to be strengthened.

Ive been praying every morning and night for 1/2 hr each time or more, and been reading for 2-3 hrs a day, and I squeeze in a quick read if I have to duck out somewhere!

And I have some good sites bookmarked on how to reason, sorry, correct JW’s!!

Why are people laying the blame on Hobby Lobby for “laying off all those workers”? The blame lays squarly on our corrupt government. The Greens went into business believing America was a free country–I’m sure they never imagined the gov’t would try to force them to pay for something that kills an innocent life. And it is absurd to think that they would comply with such a mandate.

The gov’t changed the laws that will leave all of these people without jobs. The Greens are simply staying true to the convictions they have held since they started.

  42. I don’t think Hobby Lobby is trying to say you have to believe their way I think they are saying the government and obamacare is trying to take our freedom to make our own decicisions as a person and as a employers and employees.

Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby: Christian company makes video explaining what’s at stake

January 26, 2014 by Cheryl Carpenter Klimek 0 Comments

While waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its challenge of the government contraceptives mandate, the family behind the Hobby Lobby Stores has made a video to explain its position.

Forty-four years after family patriarch David Green started the company by selling picture frames made in his garage, Hobby Lobby now employees more than 22,000 workers in 500 stores in 41 states, according to the video.

The company was built on biblical principles and Christian family values, Hobby Lobby employee Mandi Broadfoot says in the video. When the Health and Human Services Department mandated that employee health plans include coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, the Greens felt compelled to defend their religious liberties.

In a statement on HobbyLobbyCase.com, David Green said:

My family and I are encouraged that the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to decide our case. This legal challenge has always remained about one thing and one thing only: the right of our family businesses to live out our sincere and deeply held religious convictions as guaranteed by the law and the constitution. Business owners should not have to choose between violating their faith and violating the law.

The Greens have agreed to provide 16 of the 20 Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptives required under the mandate and “do so at no additional cost to employees under their self-insured health plan,” according to the website.

The Supreme Court announced it will hear oral arguments in the case at 10 a.m. on March 25, to “address the Constitutionally-guaranteed rights of individuals to operate a family business without violating their faith,” according to The Becket Fund.

You want to complain about the government forcing you to go against your beliefs, yet you are threatening to close and put hundreds out of employment if the government doesn’t bend to your will.

If it really was only about the medical coverage you would provide your employees with alternative options and information so they could avoid being in a situation where they would need to use such medicines.

  48. Paige says:

Being Christian doesn’t give anyone the right to choose what healthcare options any of their employees wish to take advantage of. As a business you can’t pick and choose who or what you want to cover because of religion, that’s not the way this country works.

    • watchman48 says:

You fail to understand that we have freedom and no company, Christian or otherwise has ever been made to provide coverage that they did want to provide…. With your thinking – If you tell your babysitter that you will pay her $6 per hour and she says no you have to pay me $12 dollars per hour than you have to pay the $12 per hour because you have no right to deny the babysitter that pay (Benefit).

  51. David says:

If you look on Hobby Lobby’s website, you’ll see that they are not presently planning to close any stores. This article is wrong, and the CEO did not pen that letter.

At issue is not whether abortion is right or wrong…everyone has the right to decide for themselves. Presently, it is a permissive law, meaning a woman is allowed to get one if she wishes. The contention is over whether the government can require Christians to violate their own core beliefs to keep the healthcare mandate. That would be tantamount to rendering unto Caesar that which is God’s, wouldn’t it?

That violates the First Amendment “free exercise” clause and borders on trampling the “establishment” clause.

    Just one Christian’s view.

  52. STL says:

Terry: If you do not our beliefs as christian, then why your pushing your comment on us of this web site?

  53. Teresa B says:

According to 1 Timothy 3:16, the mystery of godliness was manifested in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world and received up into glory. Who or what accurately and completely meets all of these criteria? Jesus Christ of course.

Jesus Christ IS the mystery of godliness. Jesus Christ, and all He did, now makes available to us the ability to have a real, true, vital and spiritual relationship with God. This relationship is in and through the faith of Jesus Christ and nothing else. This relationship cannot be obtained through the outward acts of religious observance or ceremonies performed in the flesh. Godliness can only be found in Christ Jesus.

To me, one of the most exciting and invigorating truths taught in the New Testament is that the end result of everything Christ did for us and God did for us through Christ is the ability to have the same kind of spiritual relationship with God that Jesus had while on earth. In Christ Jesus we have the ability to communicate, listen, receive revelation, perform miracles and proclaim the Gospel. We truly can do all things through Christ who strengthens us and infuses us with HIS power.

1 Corinthians 2:14 reveals a very important truth when it comes to understanding godliness:

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The person who is not born again (or the born again Christian with no knowledge of what they have in Christ Jesus) is incapable of receiving the things relating to the Spirit of God. Those spiritual matters are foolishness unto him and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned. Obviously the solution to this horrible problem lies in first receiving the Spirit of God via the new birth and then receiving instruction and knowledge regarding what one has received.

How many Christian groups ignore instructing believers as to who they are and what they have in Christ? How many Bible teachers choose to ignore the epistles of Paul and in so doing fail to enlighten believers as to the spiritual realities they have in Christ Jesus? To me, it is a tragedy that billions of Christians have never been taught who they are in Christ and what the power of the Holy Spirit within allows them to be and do in this life.

Jesus Christ, because of His relationship with the Father and who He was, boldly told the people; “He who has seen me has seen the Father” . This statement of course was one of the main reasons the religious leaders of the time felt compelled to crucify Jesus. How dare He make such a blasphemous statement!

The truth of the matter is that when we, as children of God and filled with God’s Holy Spirit, renew our minds to God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit within to guide us, can make the same statement as Jesus. When the Holy Spirit of God within is overflowing and being manifested by us, we can boldly say that he who has seen us has seen the Father (as manifested through Christ within us).

Due to ignorance, most Christians never understand that the purpose in living is not limited to doing good works or outward acts of religious ceremony. The great reality, as revealed in the writings of the Apostle Paul, is that because of who we are IN CHRIST JESUS and because of the power of God’s Holy Spirit within us, we have the ability to have a spiritual relationship with Almighty God that is real, true, vital, living and spiritual. All I can say is, WOW!

  56. David says:

    Teresa B,

I have thought about my comments and will craft them very carefully so as to not criticize or judge for it is now my job. But, as a Christian I do believe that at times people may need accountability. In proverbs it says to accept rebukes and listen if they are wise. I realize I am a stranger and you don’t know me, but we do share the same God and faith in Christ, so therefore we are connected.

But, from what I have read you have asked many people, “Why are you on this site, if you’re not a Christian?” And then used scripture to tell them how their wrong. To this I have to ask why? We as Christians and Christ followers are asked to enlighten people and bring people them Christ. You are dismissing them and telling them to come back when they know more about scripture and God. Aren’t we supposed to be able to accept them, (Not believe as they do), and share as Christ did? Christ dined with sinners, prostitutes, tax men, etc, those of the lowest character. He didn’t tell them, “Why are you here if you don’t believe in me?” Or tell them, “Go away until you know more about me.” He told them to sit down and listen. He washed their feet, a high honor, and graciously showed them that there is a better life through Him.

What if those people you told to leave were looking for Christ in their life? Needed Christ in their life? What if one of them was curious about Christ as their Saviour? Is this site solely for only Christian followers, or should we welcome non-believers so that they may inherit the Kingdom of God. We are told through the Bible to bring them to Him. Not come back when they no more.

What if they were Atheists. You don’t have to believe what they believe, but we are asked to accept them and share our beliefs, not condemn them for theirs. All that has been done is to reinforce their notion that Christians are elitists, and that there is no room for them in Christ. We know life through Christ is better, it is for use to show them that through our lives and actions.

We are called, by God and Jesus, to be fishers of men. Not to cast judgement or deny the word to these people. We are called to love our brothers and sisters from every tribe that was sent out from the tower of Babel. We are to love those foreign and alien to our country. In case you are wondering these are quotes as well from the Bible, paraphrased of course. Those people you told to go away were tests for you. People are going to challenge your beliefs and ideas everyday and every turn. The test was is to try and reel them in, not to chase them out. We are to stand firm in our beliefs and be fishers. Even on the internet. God wants us to see them as people and needing Him. My life is not perfect for I am a sinner, and I make mistakes. Have a great day and God Bless.

David Co, thank you. You misunderstand my intention. I ask them why they are here when they don’t ask questions they just state their opinion, which is fine, except to continue in a difference of opinion I guess is something I would not do unless I was trying to make a point. Is that it? When I put the Scripture there it was only to follow thru on my comment. Yes I do think they are wrong, but it is not my intention like I said to say so. I put the Scripture because Jesus said so.

Down under Dog: Give you some good insights moving to Peru.
There is alot bad there, but what good you get, is much more relaxing to you, life slows down there. Remember your a guest in their country and act as your a guest. Their culture and the Catholic religion is a big influence in there lives. But there very family like, they stick together always. Alway treat your wife’s mother with flowers and candy, its wise to have her on your side. Because when you have disagreements with your wife, the is no need to argue, just go to your mother-in-law, tell her your problems with a translator, then problem will be over in a few minutes, because your wife is never too old to be beaten by her mother. The women runs the household! Until you learn enough spanish, you’ll be basically by yourself.

I love it here in Mexico, life is more simple here. Because the Mexicanos believe their government is against them always, so when the government screws them over, they never even think a second about it. If you have police problems just asked them how much a ” Mordida” will cost you, usually its a few pesos only.

I drive my car in Mexico without a Driver License, if I’m pulled over by a cop, he walks up to my window, we shake hands, talk a few miniutes about our families, then I ask how much for the ticket, I pay it to him, that a Mordida.

If I was back in the states (USA) first I get the ticket, then I have to go down town, find parking pay for that, wait hour for the judge to tell how much the ticket is, then pay it. Then I lost a full day of wages for that ticket.

So Mordida are faster and easier!

When building a house here, if I went by the rules it would take at least one year for all the permits before you start building that house, but with a Mordida to the building inspector, all paper are signed that very minute!

Mexicans alway party first then pay there bills. Most of the time there broke after their fiestas. Then when they pay there electric, water bills their always paying a late charge! But that normal here!

Rancho life is very different than living in the cities of Peru, Since I live in the Rancho, its very quite and peaceful.

    • Thanks for the inside information buddy!

Ill definitely take it from someone that has lived in South America for quite a long time.

I wouldn’t want to go there without learning local knowledge and be able to communicate basically, because as you said I would be very much alone.

I suppose its like that anywhere, if you go somewhere and can’t
communicate or don’t have any manners, whether you are aware or not if you are offending someone, then you will be shunned, or life will be very difficult as you said, but I certainly wouldn’t go there without being able to communicate because working there would be impossible.

I have had that drummed into me that about the mother in law!

My respect for strangers is of the greatest all times, so her family is my family also :) every time they are on the phone they tell my wife to tell me that they love me, I get good vibes from them…….but being face to face with them and living under their roof would be very different I’m sure.

Yeah, the western world is too spoilt and brainwashed to see what our governments are really up too, the catholic thing would be a massive burden and test of my faith, but I know that her father is a Christian at heart and not too influenced by the catholic religion, if I could communicate with him then, im sure we would get along.

But, we have only thought about this as a future option, there are so many things to consider, the main thing for me is raising my daughter in the safest and most loving environment as possible with the best opportunities available for her future :)

But I’m patiently waiting for Jesus to come back, and I am hoping that she is raised in His world rather than this sin infested earth that we are currently enduring ;)

      Thanks for the information :)

You sound like you are very happy, I have handed my life over to Jesus, so what ever happens, ill let it happen ;)

I have 2- 150 feet by 48 ft. Green houses for our vegetables to grow year round. We have wind mills and solar panels with hot water panels. I have 5 mexican laborers that work for me. God supplies 360 days a year of sunlight, so we are off the Grid. I have stored up 2 years of dry goods and 10,000 gallon water tank and 500 gallon gas container for our car and pickup and my harley motor cycle!

It took me 20 years to get to this point in my life! Basically we are very happy with everything in life and we have God for our protection, because without him we would never have anything now!

    • Thats awesome,

Completely self sufficient, you only have to go to the shops for toiletries and condiments etc, and without the workers there I’m sure that it would be impossible to maintain.

      Living the good life ;)

  70. David says:

Paige tell me how this country work? Since Obama and co took office is this country working any better? Is the constitution protecting you Do you have the same rights? Is the economy any better? Are you safer from government intrusion and monitoring in you life? Can you say what you like including being critical of the Whitehouse? Is your environment safe? Do you and your family have a future?

  71. STL says:

Teresa; Thank you for the update on the currents in our area, its very nice today, 20% humility with 79 degrees F.

  72. tired of Teresa says:

Teresa, please shut up already. Your annoying and loud. The bible also says don’t judge, so stop. Im sure there is a reason that you no longer own a sporting goods store…..I can imagine….

    • Teresa B says:

wow that’s nice, I know longer own 6 or them because I sold them. I don’t apologize for being annoying and loud for Christ, pretty simple to me, have a nice evening.

      • Don’t judge ahey? Are you judging ?

Ahh…..the mentality and maturity of some people, who ever made this comment to Teresa needs to lighten up!

        • STL says:

Down under (DOG): The same idiot came after me by changing the names, now attacking Teresa B.

          • There are many too people out there with nothing else better to do than be a pain.

I think we should just laugh at the immaturity, they are not even worth responding to.

It might be that Dennis guy that said we all had Christ psychosis!

            What a fruitloop he was!

  73. Jason says:

I don’t want to see any one lose their jobs, but if it was me losing my job….I would feel proud to have been part of a Company that honored God’s Words, before the satanically influenced Government.

  74. Dusty says:

So does that mean you treat your employees as slaves? The bible clearly supports slavery.

    • Ron Murphy says:

The Bible doesn’t support slavery no more than it does fornication. It was just a part of what life dished out to the pour and helpless. Being a servant is different than slavery.

      • STL says:

Ron Murphy: I believe some people do not understand being a servant than slavery?

As a servant, they recieve some sort of wages and room and board. But in salvery you are forced to work and your living conditions are almost nothing.

    • watchman48 says:

Dusty – How in the world do you see that HL is treating their employees as slaves?
You certainly have absolutely no knowledge of what you are talking about….. The Bible does not support slavery….. true the Israelites were slaves.

We are slaves to sin without Christ Jesus….

      Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

      1 Corinthians 7:20-22
Each person should remain in the situation they were in when God called them.
Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you—although if you can gain your freedom, do so. For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave.

  75. David says:

Dusty where does the Bible support slavery? Employees usually work at a place because they want to It is called freedom of choice

  76. Jupiter says:

If it’s not about turning a profit, then why don’t you just pay the fine?

    • watchman48 says:

Why is it so hard to understand this…. It isn’t about the money! It is about one’s moral integrity is standing up for what you believe in…. Abortion is nothing less than murder and those that contribute to murder receives on their own hands, the blood of those murdered. Absolutely nothing, is hidden from God’s eyes or ear’s. Why are you perpetuating this untruth that even Dave Green wishes would die? This is from a USA today story in 2012…Hobby Lobby is in fact opening several stores in 2014. Verifiable on their own website http://bit.ly/1fV6Yjd .

      new article stating their position.

  78. Sandy should be saying what she said to President Obama. He is the one forcing the issue and potentially putting people out of jobs and closing stores, not Hobby Lobby.

  79. Rebecca says:

It would kill me if this place closed, I support my daughter ALONE on the income from this company. Thanks for looking at it from an actual person that it effects perspective. NOT.

    • Teresa B says:

Rebecca I don’t know if you know the Lord, but if you do then you know why he says that. the fine is astronomical. I am very sorry for you, and we all pray this will not happen, Have a good rest of the week.

  80. Free Thinker says:

Well, not everyone’s ideals and morals are the same as Hobby Lobby’s. Thank goodness we live in a country where we celebrate freedom of choice. Hobby Lobby is not above the law and frankly, deserves to be fined if they do not comply. I hope they make an example of them before our legal system is tied up with other cases where companies think they can play the religion card.

  81. Lois Steele says:

Thomas Jefferson and our founding for fathers believed that we should have freedom of religion that no branch of the government could infringe upon those believes. It is Hobby Lobby’s company and they have the right to do as they will with it. I will miss this wonderful place my daughter takes her children there almost everyday for one thing or another, I understand. But when our government places bad laws with good ones on a single bill for self interests, it is up to every American to say no, this is unjust. I believe that each law should stand on it’s own NO attachments only one item at a time in doing so it would slow down the process of stripping our people of the God (not government given) rights, enabling the people and Congress the time required to access the need for a new law at all.

  82. Ryan says:

So what about the employees that work at Hobby Lobby that are not Christian.Shouldn’t they have the right to choose what medications they take according to their beliefs/religion or is this a one sided street. If HL is required to provide insurance for their employees they should not be able to pick and choose what is covered and what is not. What treatments each employee recieves should be between that employee and their insurance not HL. There are a lot of different religions and beliefs within those religions. I think HL needs to respect their employees beliefs and not force their ideals upon them.

    • They should have a right…..once out of the store, the employees dont own the store…therefore, no they dont have the priviledge of making the rules…If I go into your home and started to dictate your house that wouldn’t work out to well with you would it? Yet you would allow that in someone elses property. These stores are not government property they are the individuals who created them! What right do you have to dictate how they run their stores?

    • Teresa B says:

Wait a minute Ryan I worked off and on my whole life, and no 2 places had the same insurance, ea one picked what they wanted to carry. Insurance did not work the way you think it should.

  83. Alot of people here seem to be missing the point of this lawsuit and the problem at hand…I am in no way religious but you dont need to be a Christian to understand this. In this day and age since Obama has been in office its kind of funny how the muslim religion seems to be the only religion gaining rights here, and all others seem to be losing them. I like to speak objectively but If companies can limit things like smoking and gun control on their properties for no other reason than they simply dont like them, than I think the right to have their stores follow their beliefs…you know since they are the ones that created the company and OWN it…is completely legitimate. There is really no such thing as emergancy contraception the best and only thing you can do to stop childbirth is simply dont have sex. Theres a reason that babies are made after sex because thats what its intended for, not fun!? Rape, yes its bad but if we cant kill the rapist why can we kill the baby? Years have gone by and Obama continues to over step his boundaries stating rediculous things including cutting out the congress in order to force his garbage onto us. I believe its time some of you liberals woke up and did some research befor voting next time. and that little thing about selfishly putting people out of jobs because of beliefs….remember whos really respondsible for that, the guy you voted for. MAKE A STAND!

  84. tuxmuppet says:

I understand that, in all likelihood, this will be ignored, but it needs to be pointed out that the personal religious beliefs of the companies owners are not actually the issue at hand.

The actual issue is if they should be allowed to express those beliefs through a wholly separate entity, namely the Hobby Lobby Corporation.

I hope no one takes offense, but this is Business Law 101 stuff.

  85. If its their Company then the answer should be plainly obvious. This government we have now with these career politicians isnt working, and they will tear apart our coutry for personal gain…Obamacare, controlling buisness, and economy this is just a start.

  86. Not to mention doing everything they can to sweep away the belief this country is founded on. This kind of thing will work only to hurt the economy and snuff these jobs out. Theres a reason the economy continues to plummet and thats simply because they dont care, as long as the liberals continue to promise free stuff to uneducated people why work for it?

  87. Kekeg says:

This is simple. A commandment that was established long ago! ” thou shall not kill.” Only God has the power and ability to give life and to take it away. The moment we decide that we can do those things we step into the mindset of thinking that we are powerful enough to be God. I support this movement . Too many Christians sit back and do nothing about things like this. Let’s take a stand for the teachings that have been set before us. The teachings that people and disciples have lost their very lives over, making sure that we were able to freely serve our one and only true living God. God bless all. The end is near.

  88. Laawana says:

Pardon me, but this is bull! You can follow your faith, but you should let everyone else do the same. You can’t shove your religious convictions down someone’s throat. Do what you feel is right for your family and pray for others. GOD will deal with them. Don’t blame this closure on Obamacare. YOU choose to close your store.

    • suez says:

@Laawana, Well we will wait and see, what you may be blaming on obummer care before this is all over dear!!! This is just the start of it. :-(

  89. I believe when a family makes a stand for God, He will see that company is preserved! This is so wrong and shows the Christian is in for the fight of their life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • watchman48 says:

God has allowed many to be martyr who stood on their religious principles…. Many Christians in America have no real understanding as to what it means to be a Christian because they haven’t been serious with their walk with Christ. Jesus said, they persecuted Him and they will persecute and kill us…. We are coming to the close of this age of Grace and the persecution that awaits us is going to be great, but we who stand firm on our faith wins the prize in the end.

  90. Alexis says:

So now all of the HL employees will be jobless, not able to feed their families because HL isn’t getting their way in not letting those employees choose what they want to do with their bodies. This is why I stay as far away from churches and “Christians” as I can. if its not your way, then everyone is wrong. Let’s just take our toys and go home because I don’t like what is being offered to our employees. Let’s make them struggle to pay their bills, feed their kids, etc because there will be coverage for a procedure I don’t agree with, that they may never use. Awesome.

    • Teresa B says:

They do offer Insurance they just don’t agree w the Pill, and I have yet to hear employees complain quite the opposite I read 1000s signed paper backing them.

Kyle Duncan, an attorney for the pro-life legal group Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said in a statement that hobby Lobby doesn’t plan to offer its employees insurance that would cover the drug while its lawsuit is pending.

“The company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees,” Duncan said. “To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.”

  91. STL says:

Suez: So you think I’m wromg that the USA never ever go to other countries and force our will on them, then you do not know much about how our government policies work. Oh! yes, we tell them we want to give you democacies but did we ask them if they wanted it in the first place, if we give our military to them, then we have to control them, tell them how their to perform for the USA policies. Then our Politicans tell the military we are giving them freedoms, but it all comes down to it be forced freedom.

Look at the history of the USA, we invade other countries, we do not go their friendly there, we want to control there assests. As Vietnam, our big oil company wanted their off shore oil, and many years we was pumping oil from them. Let’s look at WW2 with Japan it was over oil, and the USA put Japan on limited oil to their country, so they got tried of our policies and attacked the USA. Every country in this world hates big brother policies, one country really loves us at all.

    • All the countries will fall in the end, STL…………….there will be one ruler…………………..Jesus! King of kings, and Lord of Lords. :)

Rev_17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Rev_19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

    • suez says:

STL, I never said you were wrong Steve. But is it truth that I said. I know the American Gov. has shoved it’s way in too many places that is shouldn’t have. I wasn’t disagreeing with you, but just trying to point out what the muslims really believe, about killing the infidels! No offense meant to you brother..don’t get your undies all knotted up now! LOL :-)

  92. STL says:

Suez: Yes your completely right, do not get too cocky, but the USA will fall first, an the US Americans are the biggest complainers in this world. Your problem is your to cocky being an American, you think everyone need to act like an American in this world, as you believe we have the best policies in the world.

Then if our government policies are so great, why do we have so many people in the USA are homeless? Why we as Americans support our troops, but their only words no actions. Our troops come home from wars and without legs and it takes them over a year before they recieve there benefits.

Cocky you say, I’m ashame being Naturalized as a American.

Who started this ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, it was the American government. Who allowed the American government to start NWO, people like you!

When Iraq war started, President Bush tried to force President Fox of Mexico into the war, but President Fox, said no, but then USA policies were cut off to Mexico.

But still USA need Mexican oil. Yes we will all fall in the end, but who going to fall first?

  93. Scott says:

Bible belt idiots. This one article just made me an ex-hobby lobby shopper. Let your employees decide their own health needs and stop blaming Obama for everything. BUSH sucks.

    • Teresa B says:

Scott get off the BUSH wagon we all voted for him and I to was wrong but quit blaming him for the Scandals at present and the Regulations and law putting people out of business, the Islamic take over of Govt, Get on a different train.

  94. STL says:

Suez: Guess what? Your under Obama rules and regulations, I’m not if Obama comes after your land, you will have to deal with it, not me. I’m in Mexico, so far, Obama not ruling Mexico. I’ll keep my land. Where do you think all your vegetables that your paying high prices from, its Mexico, actually from the State of Sinaloa, that my state. Each time you buy a tomato it cost over a dollar, but to us its just a few pennies.

Did you ever listen to God in your life to prepare for the worse?

You have 10 acres, how much of this land you grow vegetables on it. We have here 3 seasons to grow vegetables, and I have two giant Greenhouses for winter growing of vegetables, did you ever believe times was going to get this bad in your life? You always believe the American Dream, was going to take care of you until your death? Can your horses plow a field for you, or are they their for your enjoyment only?

    Your the Cocky one!

  95. STL says:

Suez: Your complaining about the posts against others comments on Abortion, Question, did you ever go to these Abortion Clinic and protested against them and get arrest, sent to jail? I did in the 1980′s.

There is no way we are going to stop this actions any where in this world, its in God’s hands, not ours. At least each little one is in heaven with Jesus Christ.

    • suez says:

STL, No I haven’t, and NO I will not do that. I am not a rebel rouse-r as the Bible calls that type of thing. If you have, bully for you!!! My you are really on a rant, for one tiny little thing I said, that I never meant to be a bad thing, aren’t you…Such anger!! Where is that forgiveness you pray for each night Steven??? I not seeing it. :-) You jump on me multiple times for saying not to be cocky, when you have called me every name in the book? Hmmm

  96. Really says:

You people are cra cra! Thanks for reminding me why i dont go to church anymore with all your judgemental and holier than thou garbage. At least it was an entertaining half an hour read! And before you ask “why are you here then” because it was posted on facebook and i dont plan on being back. Birth control is not abortion, you crazies. Didnt jesus say something about those among you without sin cast the first stone or first pull the beam out of your own eye? Sure are worked up about some stupid craft store closing because of selfish reasons. Might do u more good to go volunteer at rhe homeless shelter because u arent doing much good witnessing to people on this board. All i see is a bunch of judgemental people patting each other on the back. Weirdos.

    • @ Really, you are another one of those ‘Ive been to church before know it alls’

Your attitude and heart just shows why you don’t have the truth.

Turn back while you still can ;)

    • Teresa B says:

Really crazy, so what is the pill for abortion? Stopping a live is stopping a life no matter how you cut it. Morning after pill, what would you call that one?

No one is casting stones, just speaking truth which is very hard to take.

I for one do help the Homeless among other things.

No on thinks they are holier than thou, some of us used to think as you do.

Have a good rest of the week.

  97. dworthy1 says:

You’re misinformed and misguided about the Plan B emergency contraception. Please review the SCIENTIFIC research. If you can’t make sound, informed decisions, then I hope you do go out of business.

  98. Kayla says:

Flat out ridiculous. You care about your employees but will take away that many jobs because our your PERSONAL belief?! When you turned into a corporation things change. You have a BUSINESS to run and employees who are counting on you!

  99. STL says:

Brenda: You said, your grandfather said, never trust an Arab?

How do you think they feel about us?

Remember when President Clinton was handling foriegn affairs, he got a Congressman Charlie and a Senator to privately funded the Afganstan People with weapons, with tax payer money, so they fight off the Russian War? Then the senator promisied that when the war was over, USA would rebuild Afganstan. But we were funded Osama Bin Laden warriors. But as soon the war was over, President Clinton said, stop the funding. So basically we lied to them, and you wonder why they turn on us and attacked the Twin Towers?

We did the same thing to Japan back in the 1940′s, what happen they turned on us.

    • suez says:

STL, what in the world are you talking about?

      • STL says:

Suez: Do you believe Jesus Christ will rule as a dictator?

        • Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Then why does he say he will rule with a ron of iron?

Simple reason, every baby born in the 1000 years are born with the curse, that why Satan is release from the pit at the end of the 1000 years for a season, to try and take anyone he can with him. So these children that grow up in the 1000 years will be born in sin!

However, I am not for people saying they should have the right of choice, but taking someone else choice away. What an employee does in private is there choice if it does not effect their job. Who is really being forced to choose Hobby Lobby or the Employees that are being forced to choice someone else’s personal beliefs?

If you are pro life, you should be anti Hobby Lobby.

    • Teresa B says:

Hobby Lobby offers birth control coverage to its employees but refuses to provide coverage for the morning-after and week-after pill, which it believes are abortifacients THEY OFFER HEALTH INSURANCE JUST NOT THAT PART. THE GOVT WILL BUY YOU THE MORNING AFTER PILL.

Obviously you know nothing about Business, but that has nothing to do w Healthcare forced on you.

  112. Hope says:

I am really interested in why there are so many who obviously have no knowledge of the Bible and no appreciation for mainstream Christian viewpoints are posting on this topic here. Did you find it related to the Hobby Lobby stance or because of the end times focus? I’m going to assume just examining the odds that it is because of the anti-abortion topic. Respectfully, you are entitled to your opinions, but Hobby Lobby is entitled to theirs. I am sure none of you lost any sleep or sweat any blood over the morality of this decision. The livelihoods of thousands in a tough economy placed in jeopardy because of a belief about birth control? Their own financial futures on the line? And yet they will close if needed? Should we all have such strength in our convictions. One of the themes that keeps coming up in this discussion (mostly related to the Little Sisters of the Poor’s similar dilemma) is that the employees can use their wages to buy abortifactants anyway, so the employers may as well buy them. Do anti-gun employers have a right to control whether or not employees buy guns? Do employers get to decide what candidates their employees contribute to? The list could go on. The argument is specious. Hobby Lobby is talking about how they directly spend their money. Another issue is that Hobby Lobby employees shouldn’t want to buy abortifactants anyway. That is silly. Hobby Lobby isn’t a church. It employs people who don’t necessarily share their convictions. Outside of this topic, I am sure most of you have realized already, by the way, that most of the people who post on this site are not exactly on topic or on target regarding their viewpoints. This is primarily a social network for a few rather non-conventional people. Rational Christian debate will be found better elsewhere. That being said, the issue of how God is working in our times is very important. Not only is he very real, what he is doing in this world is more serious than a heart attack. We can hold any opinion on that as we want, it doesn’t change God. Our belief or non-belief doesn’t change whether he exists or not. We are not talking about Santa Claus here. The owners of Hobby Lobby understand that. As others who understand that, we will pray for anyone here who does not. God can speak to you and someday it may make sense to you. May God bless you all.

Awesome. Close the doors please. Don’t let the screen door hit ya.

  114. MommaM says:

I kind of think it is disingenuous to call these medications and devices the equivalent of abortions. Morning after type drugs only work if ovulation has not yet occurred. That is their mode of action, as well, to prevent ovulation. I find it impossible to believe that Hobby Lobby has not had these medical facts explained to them. I just don’t know whether they actually believe the abortifactant canard or are cold-bloodedly using it as a rallying cry (along the same lines as “death panels”) in their fight against the ACA. I am a Christian and find this reaction sad.

  115. Charlotte says:

I am a Christian. I do not agree with the Green family but that does not change my Christianity . Perhaps if birth control is the issue are they going to exclude vasectomys from their plan? Silly isn’t it? But we can’t pick and choose. The morning after pill that is being talked about for insurance is in emergency. Such as in the case of rape, incest or danger to the mother. They are not asking that insurance pay for seconds thoughts after a one night stand. That is not what the law is about.

    • Teresa B says:

Charlotte my understanding is the Morning After is free from the Govt thru the ins.

      • watchman48 says:

Tersa B _ Please at least get this one thing in your head – If the government says something is free, don’t be so stupid to believe this, nothing is free from the government…. Someone had to buy the thing and most likely it was us taxpayers.

  116. Diana says:

Do you guys realize what the morning after pill actually is? Yeah i didnt think so. Let me explain it to you. If you are already preganant, the morning after pill does NOT terminate the pregnancy. Sperm can live inside the vagina for up to 5 days. The morning after pill stops the the woman from ovulating, just like the birth control pill does. Once ovulation is stopped, the woman does not release an egg. If the sperm and egg dont meet, there is no pregnancy. However if you are already pregnant, no amount of morning after pill is going to change that. Those of you who are arguing about how bad the morning after pill is had better not be taking birth control either than because it is the same exact thing only in a lower dose. Actually my doctor told me that the morning after pill is no difference than me taking 3 of my regular birth control pills. You are welcome for the explanation. Didnt see anyone else post it.

  117. Ken Sturmer says:

Well unfortunately, our founding fathers made a point of making sure our country had separation of church and state. If you don’t like it, move to a country that subscribes to your particular poison!

  118. Diana says:

Oh and theresa, your understanding is wrong. The insurance company covers it when you pay your insurance. The government isnt going around handing these out. The lawsuit is so that hobby lobby doesnt have to put this on their insurance plan at all. Doesnt have anything to do with government at all except the government is saying they should be covered under hobby lobbys insurance coverage.

    Baaaaaaaa!

  120. PROOF ONCE AGAIN THE GOVERNMENT IS THE VERY WORST CRIMINAL ORGANISATION OF THE NATION, ABUSING IT’S POWER TO DESTROY WHAT GOD WANTS TO LIVE & instituted the government to be His representative on earth to protect the good and punish the evil!

Now that murder of the unborn has been legalised by declaring the unborn child not-human (which was justification in the past to murder blacks …since they were declared not to be human but animals. The Jews having declared all non-Jews animals (goyim) justify and approve of all murder of non-Jews by declaring we are not humans but animals! This is evidence of satan as their father!) the government is no longer God’s representative, and is therefore illegitimate, as it resorts to more and more tyranny.

Embracing lies for truth, it is impossible to remain a legal government, as it has to enforce lies for truth by brute force!

  121. @#322 written by Diana – You may be wrong and your doctor may be a murderer! The morning after pill contains progestogen a hormone that prevents the settling of the fertilised egg in the wall of the womb, and this would be abortive. IUD’s are also abortive devices for this reason.

I just read that the copper of the IUD’s – let me copy it: “The primary mechanism of action of copper-releasing intrauterine devices (IUDs) as emergency contraceptives is to prevent fertilization because of copper toxicity to sperm and ova.” NICE TRY! But I DON”T BUY! If copper is being released by the IUD in suh an extent that it poisons the sperm and ova, it is poisoning the woman alltogether! This would be be a reason for taking it off the market and being forbidden b the different authorities. (quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_contraception )

It is noteworthy the the Roman Catholic church has forbidden IUD’s for being an abortive device (not for being a contraceptive). So the morning-after pill…how did this discussion come to this?… as an abortive device should not be taken.

If you did not want to become pregnant you should have obeyed God and not haven intercourse at all!

  122. Diana says:

The egg not being fertilized isnt abortion, moron. Thats just ignorance. And having sex when you are married is ok with you?Maybe i dont want 25 kids. I have never had to use the morning after pill because my husband had a vasectomy. So dont presume you know anything about me or my life. Google the morning after pill if you dont believe me. Im making a guess that you are an ignorant man and you only want to believe what you want. Google “how does the morning after pill work” and ” will i loose the baby if i take the morning after pill?’ Go ahead, educate yourself. I dare you. Then when you are done with that, figure out what the word “ovulate” means. While you are at it, google clitoris too. I bet you think its on the inside.

  123. Diana says:

By the way , dutchy, your link you posted says that the morning after pill prevents ovulation and fertilization. Hmmmm, i think someone doesnt have a leg to stand on! Would you call an unfertilized egg an abortion?

  124. Read what you want Diana. You do not want the truth. You want to hear what suits you. 2 Tim.3: 3,4

The IUD is an abortive device because it prevents the furtilised egg to nestle in the womb and connect to the woman through that which will become the umbilical cord that feeds the baby inside the womb. So denying the baby the connection to food, it dies, hance it is an abortive device.

The information about the working ofthe morning after pill is confusing, and often contradictory because the doctros themselves often do not agree.

Simply take the safe way: Do not have sex outside of marriage and then only with one’s own husband / wife.

As far as your attitude: You are not a good recommendation for your nation.

If your husband knows what I know and am still learning about women also in this area, your bed will be wet every time you…

  125. Hope says:

If the morning after pill simply prevented ovulation, these cases would be laughed out of court. The whole issue centers around devices and pills that prevent the fertilized egg from implanting. There is some lack of knowledge about the actual mechanism by which these work and there is also purposeful deception. There is no doubt, though, that there is valid religious objection to the pills based on abortifacient issues.

I love Hobby Lobby and just recently one started in our town. I am glad you are sticking to your beliefs. If other companies would follow suit, these LAWS could be changes or better yet, not make them.

  134. Debra) says:

I’m just glad that a few companies are exercising their freedom of religion rights in court. A cake company was recently put out of business by a high court because they would not make a wedding cake for a homo. couple. It was against their religious beliefs. Christians ARE BEING PERSECUTED FOR THIER BELIEFS NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE THINKS.

  135. James N. Fox says:

I agree totally with the founder of Hobby Lobby. Our Federal Government (Ours is all of us) has overstep the boundries of our founding fathers, and needs to correct their policies.

  136. Franky says:

“Mary became pregnant by god”. Am I the only one noticing how ridiculous this sounds? Must have been a great party… Even had sex with a dove. No matter how you picture it, an egg is not a chicken. We, atheists, have a lot to do to educate this ignorant people…

  137. watchman48 says:

@ Franky – For the man who thinks he knows all that there is to be known, is nothing but a fool unto himself. Wisdom is gained from what man has experienced in life, but true wisdom comes from God. There is nothing in this life that man can say for a certainty, unless he has seen, or experienced directly or indirectly that which pertains to his statements, beliefs, or faith. In other words, for man to say, “I know God does not exist,” just because he personally has not experienced a life changing event is nothing less than pure ignorance.

Even if a wise man claims he is wise or he displays his degrees from years of studying, without faith in God he still lacks the ability to comprehend or understand the existence of …God, because his wisdom is that of the world’s. If you say you are wise then please, what is God’s purpose for man? And tell me if you can, why should God reveal himself to someone that does not seek Him, or to someone that is not seriously wanting to know him in a personal way, much less to someone that does not believe in Him?
God has chosen to hide Himself, but to those who fear Him, He will reveals His heart’s desires. In Psalms 91:1 He refers to His place of hiding as the secret place. Only those who fear God will find this secret place, as we are told: The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. Psalm 25:14 NIV.

Franky, it your not afraid of finding out the truth read “The Case for Christ” written by Lee Strobal, who was a atheist…. Or should you be interest an amazing short story read “The Greater Message” at watchman48.blogspot.com

  138. Denial is a shock absorber from reality. Ther’s no such thing as Obama care. It’s affordable Health Care Act. Also, Hobby Lobby isn’t closing it’s doors. Another ploy to use the racist fear factor on uneducated, ignorant white people who choose to live in a world of hate. You’re being used by the corporate world in the name of god while they suck you dry.

  139. pat says:

Typical Christian. You fail to realize that your beliefs as a company do not reflect the beliefs of your employees. I know you may not support abortion but who are you to ruin thousands of lives by closing your doors. As a religious person you should see that giving in and paying more insurance for an option does more good than bad bc people have work. You don’t like your fellow employees to have the option of doing something you think is a sin well im sorry but as a Christian you should refrain from being judgemental and realize ultimately they will have to answer to the Lord for their choices right or wrong. Weigh the pros n cons before you make a bad decision bc either way people hurt and if faced with such a situation choose the one where people hurt less

  140. watchman48 says:

@ Pat – Bottom line here is your telling a company that they must support through the insurance they provide their employees the murder of the most innocent of all life…..
Would you like it if your baby sitter was using her wages to support the extermination of puppies and kittens? And they are just animals….
Life begets life and it’s own kind… The egg of the woman is life and the sperm of the man is life and at the moment of conception there is a new human being formed… No other parts are added other than nourishment just as there is after birth.

  141. Phil says:

Well if its your personal decision to close then do so. Although I strongly suspect the lure of the almighty dollar will be stronger than that of your religious conviction and that will TRULY show show which theistic deity you ascribe to…
That said, let others have the choice of their convictions to and do NOT force your beliefs upon them. They will forever remain your beliefs. Let others come to their own determination and decisions based upon THEIR beliefs not yours.
