The Gospel Truth Jail Ministry gave Bibles Behind Bars an awesome shoutout with the float in the annual Christmas parade in Dalton, Georgia

Pastor Rick wrote to me the other day and said “Hello Bro. Grider, we are entering a Ministry Float in the Dalton Christmas parade. We are recognizing both ministries. It will be December 4th at 6: PM. We want our local community to be aware of the need and blessing of the local jail ministry. We will have a couple of men dressed as inmates on the float and a couple of preachers witnessing to them, and about four more dressed as inmates walking along the street beside the float. I thought you would like to see this. Look at the BIBLE BEHIND BARS logo. Thank you again for supplying the Word of God to the men.” Blessed beyond words.

What started out as just a case or two of King James Bibles we sent in response to an email from Bro. Micah Hedges up in Georgia back in 2020, has grown to Bibles Behind Bars literally blanketing the jails in north Georgia with thousands of Bibles through our association with the Gospel Truth Jail Ministry. What an honor it was for them to recognize us on their Christmas parade float, and we very much appreciate that. It is also a prescient reminder to me that we are working against a ticking clock as we watch the Church Age coming to a close and that ‘voice like a trumpet’ getting ready to sound. Just one more soul!

Our inbox is filled with requests from jails and prisons across America from chaplains in desperate need of King James Bibles in English and Spanish

Chaplain Hooker at the Orange County Corrections in Florida wrote to us earlier to say ‘thank you’, first and foremost, for the 32 cases of KJVs we sent them last year. They see an average of 30 people getting saved per week, and our large print KJV is the most-requested Bible they have. He then asked could we send him some more as soon as possible? We just finished processing his request right before I started writing this article. My inbox is full of emails from chaplains who desperately need Bibles, and we’re sending them out as quick as we can, and we need your help.

In addition to that, we are sending 300 RVG Spanish KJVs to our friend Chaplain Bob at the Harris County Jail in Texas. We just sent pocket-sized Spanish New Testaments to the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility, and 100 Ruckman Reference Bibles  for the ADA County Jail in Boise, Idaho. We are still looking to send Bibles to the Franklin County Regional Jail in Frankfort, Kentucky. Chaplain Dean at the Sierra Conservation Correctional Center wrote to say he was overwhelmed when they received the 160 KJVs we sent to them. 2025 will go down as the year we went out the most Bibles to jails and prisons than we ever have. Come help us to fulfill this amazing course the Lord has given us to do!

A very specific request for pocket Bibles in Spanish comes from Chaplain Martinez at the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility In Texas

Last summer, Chaplain Eric from the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility In Texas reached out to us in need of Bibles in English and in Spanish, and we were more than happy to meet that request for him. Now, Chap has again reached out with a more specific need, Bibles in Spanish but they have to be small, pocket size, or the inmates will not be allowed to take their Bible with them when they are moved out of Willacy. Jesus came to set the captives free, that’s our mission.

“And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.” Isaiah 24:22 (KJB)

As Americans, we all have an opinion on immigration, legal and illegal, with people coming across our southern border with Mexico, I get that. But as Christians there can be no debate, all those immigrants are precious souls before the Lord in need of salvation. So when we have an opportunity to send Bibles directly into detention centers housing immigrants, what a blessing that is! Make no mistake, there are plenty of American citizens in that jail as well, and we must reach them, too.

When we send Bibles to jails and prisons, we’re not just ‘sending a book’, we are sending the preserved words of God, and flooding their cells with a Light above that of a thousand suns. We are Hope dealers to people society has cast off and rejected, precious souls who desperately need this live-changing gift of a Bible.
