Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico on Wednesday as the strongest storm to hit the U.S. territory in nearly 90 years, downing power to most of the island, flooding some areas and ripping windows out in the capital, San Juan.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Texas is still digging out from Harvey, here in Florida we still don’t have power in lots of areas after that nasty woman Irma, and today tiny, little Puerto Rico was absolutely slammed by Maria. Oh, Jose is about to hit New York and Lee is coming right on the heels of Maria. Ever feel like God is sending a message? 

Maria, the second major hurricane to roar through the Caribbean this month, made landfall near Yabucoa, on the southwest of the island of 3.4 million people. Thousands of people were seeking safety in shelters.

Carrying winds of 140 miles per hour (220 kph), driving high storm surges and drenching rains, Maria’s eye was located about 25 miles (40 km) west of San Juan shortly before 11 a.m. ET (1500 GMT), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

Tracking Hurricane Maria and Jose:

Broken windows, mangled awnings and gutters dangled haphazardly from buildings in San Juan or were ripped off entirely. Toilets bubbled noisily and belched foul air as the hurricane rumbled through the city’s water and sewage lines.

Up to 90 percent of the island was without electricity, El Nuevo Dia newspaper quoted Governor Ricardo Rossello as saying. In the southcoast city of Guayama, west of where Maria blew ashore, storm waters turned streets into fast-running rivers carrying wind-downed debris.

Maria killed at least two people in the French territory of Guadeloupe as it barreled through the Caribbean. It devastated the tiny island nation of Dominica and caused widespread damage on St. Croix, one of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Hurricane Irma, which ranked as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record, also left a trail of destruction in several Caribbean islands and Florida this month, killing at least 84 people in the Caribbean and the U.S. mainland.

“God is with us; we are stronger than any hurricane,” Rossello said in a Twitter message on Wednesday. “Together we will rise again.”

Maria was expected to dump as much as 25 inches (66 cm) of rain on parts of Puerto Rico, the NHC said. Storm surges, when hurricanes push ocean water dangerously over normal levels, could be up to 9 feet (2.7 meters.) The heavy rainfall could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides, it added.

“This a catastrophe we’re going through,” said Madeline Morales, 62, a saleswoman in San Juan who abandoned her coastal home before the storm hit to seek refuge in a hotel on higher ground.

Maria was set to be the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico since 1928, when the San Felipe Segundo hurricane slammed the island and killed about 300 people, the National Weather Service said.

Before hitting Puerto Rico, Maria ripped off roofs and downed trees as it passed west of St. Croix, home to about half of the U.S. Virgin Islands’ 103,000 residents, as a rare Category 5 storm, the top of the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale.

Some 65 to 70 percent of the buildings on St. Croix were damaged by the storm, said Holland Redfield, who served six terms in the U.S. Virgin Islands senate.

“There were a lot of homes that had lost their roofs. It was a sad sight,” Redfield said in a phone interview, describing viewing the island. “I’m in a very densely populated area now and I see a tremendous amount of confusion. A lot of trees are down.”

In Guadeloupe, at least two people were killed, according to France’s minister for overseas territories. Many roads were blocked and some 80,000 people, or 40 percent of the population, were without power, the overseas territories ministry said in a statement. In the largest city, Point-a-Pitre, there was flooding of more than three feet (a meter) in parts of the city, access to the port was blocked and a hospital was damaged, it said.

‘IRMA WAS NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS’

Maria was on a track to pass just north of the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic on Wednesday night and Thursday, the NHC said. So far, it did not look likely to threaten the continental United States.

“Irma was nothing compared to this,” said Juan Pablo Alvarez, a 61 year old retiree in San Juan. “This is going to do a lot of damage.”

Even though Irma grazed north of Puerto Rico and did not hit the island directly, it knocked out power for 70 percent of the island, and killed at least three people.

Puerto Rico is grappling with the largest municipal debt crisis in U.S. history, with both its government and the public utility having filed for bankruptcy protection amid disputes with creditors.

There were hurricane warnings and watches in effect for the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Culebra, and Vieques, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the southeastern Bahamas and the Dominican Republic from Cabo Engano to Puerto Plata. source

The system appears to be assembling itself, one vaccine patch, one digital identifier, one biometric sensor and one cryptocurrency transaction at a time. When the man of sin finally steps onto the world stage, he will not need to invent the machinery of Revelation 13; he will simply inherit it, unite it and demand worship through it. The Bible gave us the finished blueprint two thousand years ago, and now fallen man is manufacturing every component with breathtaking precision and rapidity. NTEB and For His Glory Ministries Are Partnering To Open A Bible And Gospel Tract Printing And Distribution Center In The Philippines

The 8th NTEB Old-Fashioned Camp Meeting is officially one month away, and we are soooo excited to see everyone. As you know, our theme this is missions – local and foreign -and will be present a roster of speakers who are actively engaged in missions in these last days. Over the past several months, we have gotten to know and spend time with newlywed couple Mike and Michelle Burton, and we bring you the good news of their surrendering to be boots-on-the-ground missionaires to Angeles City in the Philippines. Not only that, NTEB will be partnering with them and their For His Glory Ministries, to open up a Bible printing facility and evangelization outpost! We just wrapped up a podcast with them, and you can watch it below. We have prayed a long time for the Lord to give us an opening in the Philippines, and now He has in a mighty and incredible way.

“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. Ever since we started our Free Bible Program, it has been our hearts desire to establish an NTEB base in the Philippines for the distrubution of Bibles in English and Tagalog, as well as gospel tracts and scripture portions. We get thousands of requests per year, and have always wanted to have a facility there. But try as we might, as we prayed for this over the years, the Lord never opened up that door for us, until now that is. Mike and Michelle, along with Philippine national Edgardo Gatchalian, have secured a location in Angeles City where they will not only be living, but will also serve as base of operations for printing Bibles and tracts, as well as a distrubution center. NTEB will be providing them with Bibles and tracts, as well as helping to cover some of the costs of getting their new facility up and running. We Went From ‘Operation Epic Fury’ To An ‘Economic D-Day’ As Donald Trump Desperately Searches For A Victory His War Against Iran Failed To Deliver

The headlines coming out of the Iran war today confirm that Donald Trump’s promised victory has become a strategic defeat unfolding before the entire world. What began in hubris as Operation Epic Fury has sadly morphed into Economic D-Day as Trump’s dreams of an easy victory has turned to dust. After nearly six months of American bombing, Iran is now threatening 46 commercial ships with detention or confiscation, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has collapsed from more than 130 daily passages to approximately 16, and Tehran is negotiating with Oman over shipping lanes and the collection of transit fees. Trump entered this war promising to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program, dismantle its missile forces, reopen Hormuz and bring the Islamic Republic to its knees. Instead, the regime remains standing, its missiles remain operational, its nuclear ambitions remain unresolved and its control over the world’s most important energy chokepoint is stronger than it was before the first American bomb fell. Iran did not need to defeat the United States on the battlefield; it only needed to survive long enough to expose the limits of American power. Donald Trump has made this war all about him, and that’s exactly how history will remember it. They will say “Trump did this”, and they’ll be right.

Iran’s currency is collapsing and its people are suffering terribly, but economic misery is not the decisive American triumph Trump promised. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is diverting so many forces into this expanding Middle East quagmire that a major military exercise with South Korea has reportedly been canceled, weakening American readiness against China and North Korea. The self-proclaimed “president of peace” has spent tens of billions of dollars, wounded hundreds of American service members and killing 18, disrupted the global economy and reduced American military flexibility—only to leave Iran standing defiantly at the gates of Hormuz. Trump may call it maximum pressure, economic warfare or “D-Day,” but the world sees exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to manufacture victory after his war failed to deliver one.
