VATICAN CITY — At one point during a major summit of the Roman Catholic hierarchy that ends this weekend, a senior conservative bishop took the floor inside the Vatican’s assembly hall and promptly charged his liberal peers with doing the devil’s work.

Archbishop Tomash Peta of Kazakhstan captured the intensity of the divide, raising eyebrows — and even a few incredulous laughs — as he decried some of the policy changes being floated at the synod as having the scent of “infernal smoke.”
It was just another day at a synod that — more than any single event since Francis began his papacy in 2013 — has highlighted the extent his outreach to once-scorned Catholics has triggered a tug-of-war for the soul of the Catholic Church. More important, it underscored just how hard it may be for Francis to recast the church he serves in his image.
In fact, the pushback by traditionalists has been so strong at the synod that the chances of fast changes on hot-button family issues — including whether to offer communion to divorced and remarried Catholics and more welcoming language to homosexuals — have substantially dimmed, if not gone completely out.
As the synod races towards a close, there has been a last-ditch push to find common ground that could at least open the door to policy alterations. But some observers are already comparing Pope Francis to President Obama — a man whose reformist agenda was bogged down by a conservative Congress.
“Francis has the same problem that Obama had,” said the Rev. Thomas Reese, a senior analyst for the National Catholic Reporter. “He promised the world, but Congress wouldn’t let him deliver. If nothing much comes of this synod, I think people will give the pope a pass and blame the bishops for stopping change.”
For Francis, the synod — the Vatican’s second in 12 months on issues related to the family — sets up perhaps the most important decision of his papacy.
The 270 senior church officials from 122 countries are set to finish voting on a final document by Saturday. But Francis has the final say, holding the power to simply accept the synod’s recommendations, go beyond them, or withhold judgment to encourage further debate. All of those avenues, however, carry a measure of risk.
Using his powers to go beyond the synod’s recommendations could rouse the wrath of conservatives, some of whom are already openly questioning the trajectory of his papacy. Yet if the final recommendation of the synod falls short of liberal hopes, simply rubber stamping it, or encouraging more debate, could generate disappointment among Francis’s fans worldwide. They may begin to see him as a revolutionary in gestures and words, but not on substance.

If he agrees fully with the synod’s recommendations, “there might be a collapse of his popularity in world public opinion, but there might also be an increase of his popularity among Catholics,” said Massimo Franco, author of The Crisis of the Vatican Empire and a columnist at the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
Even by Vatican standards, the level of drama at the synod has been extraordinary.
As recently as Wednesday, the Vatican strenuously denied a report in the Italian press that Francis had a small brain tumor. That came after the synod started off with a bang in early October, when another leak in the Italian press brought to light a letter to the pope signed by 13 conservative cardinals — including Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York — that seemed to question the pope’s handling of the synod process.
Adding to the mystery, some of the 13 denied they had signed the letter. Some Vatican watchers saw Francis’s recent warning to the synod not to be taken in by conspiracy theories as a thinly veiled reference to the missive. To some senior Vatican officials, the letter appears close to open sedition.
“The widespread opinion I perceived among the fathers has been a sense of disgust,” Bishop Marcello Semeraro, one of the senior clerics who will draft the final synod document, told the Vatican Insider web site.
Yet by telling bishops that nothing is off the table for discussion, Francis has undoubtedly lifted the lid on what can be examined — including his management style. Conservatives bishops, however, see him as having also opened a Pandora’s box, allowing a free flow of ideas that have startled some traditionalists and provoked a sharp backlash.
Of the many issues under debate here, two have emerged as the most polemic.
One is whether to grant divorced and remarried Catholics — who are technically committing adultery in the church’s eyes — access to communion. In addition, there is the question of whether to offer a warmer welcome to gays and lesbians, including striking references to homosexuality as “intrinsically disordered” from church teachings.
The divide is not just liberal vs conservative, but also geographic with prelates in Africa, for instance, denouncing the “Eurocentric” and “Western” fixation with issues such as homosexuality. Guinean Cardinal Robert Sarah linked the push for gay rights to abortion and Islamic extremism, comparing them all to what “Nazi-Fascism and Communism were in the 20th century.”
The vehemence of the backlash has shocked even some moderate conservatives, suggesting the rise of a Tea Party-like faction of bishops within the hierarchy.
“Some of them are talking now like this is Armageddon,” Archbishop Mark Coleridge of Brisbane, Australia, said in an interview with The Washington Post.
“They see themselves as the sons of goodness and others as the sons of darkness and evil. I have been very surprised by this apocalyptic view of things at the synod . . . This isn’t the way discussions are done,” he added.
The sniping has gone surprisingly public — and personal. The powerful conservative Cardinal George Pell, for instance, suggested in an interview with Le Figaro that an epic “battle” was taking shape in the church between the conservative theology of Benedict XVI and the liberal German Cardinal Walter Kasper, who is seen as a Francis ally and the architect of some of the most progressive measures being fielded at the synod.
Pell’s comment provoked a rare public rebuke this week from the German Cardinal Reinhard Marx, who called out Pell by name at a Vatican press conference.
“In the synod, we are not in a battle. We are not Ratzinger vs. Kasper,” Marx said, using Pope Benedict’s birth surname.“That is not okay.”
The plot thickened further on Thursday as an article appeared on a conservative Catholic Web site claiming to be from “ a very wise, knowledgeable and highly influential cleric” and entitled “The Failed Francis Pontificate.”
In it, the author writing under the pen name Don Pio Pace and using insider terminology, argues that the divided church is now “intrinsically ungovernable” and decried this “strange synod” for being overwhelming focused on “adulterous couples and homosexual couples.”
Some have also denounced the general sense of chauvinism hanging over the debates in which only male clerics have voting rights.
Maureen Kelleher, an American nun serving in one of the non-voting roles at synod, told the National Catholic Reporter that there were “times that I have felt the condescension so heavy, you could cut it with a knife.”
Speaking of women in general, she added: “I see a high level of non-acceptance of us as holding up half the sky.” source

A new billboard campaign has appeared declaring, “JESUS IS NOT GOD,” followed by the equally blasphemous claim that Jesus Christ did not pre-exist in Heaven. That is not merely bad theology, it is a direct attack on the identity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The billboard says “Scripture says,” but Scripture says the exact opposite. The King James Bible declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus did not begin in Bethlehem. Bethlehem was the place where the eternal Word was made flesh and stepped into the world He created. Jesus Christ is God the Father in a human body, take it or leave it, like it or lump it.
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1 Timothy 3:16 (KJB)
Jesus Christ Himself said, “I came down from heaven.” He prayed concerning the glory He possessed with the Father “before the world was.” He declared, “Before Abraham was, I am.” Paul tells us that all things in Heaven and Earth were created by Him and for Him, and that He is before all things. A man who began his existence in Mary’s womb could not have created the universe, shared glory with the Father before creation, walked with Israel in the wilderness or come down from Heaven. The billboard cannot be reconciled with the words of Christ because its message is built upon denying them.
This is how religious deception operates. It keeps the name Jesus, quotes selected verses, speaks reverently about God and then quietly replaces the biblical Christ with a counterfeit. A Jesus who is not God, did not pre-exist, did not create all things and did not come down from Heaven is the “another Jesus” that Paul warns us about. He may wear the name, but he is not the eternal Word of John chapter one, the great I AM of John chapter eight, the Creator of Colossians chapter one or God manifest in the flesh of First Timothy chapter three. Satan has always desired a Jesus without deity, a cross without saving blood and a gospel without the power to save.

“And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” John 17:5 (KJB)
The truth remains unshaken: Mary did not create Jesus Christ; she gave birth to the human body prepared for Him. The One lying in the manger was the One who made the stars shining above it. The infant wrapped in swaddling clothes was the eternal Creator entering His own creation. The Man nailed to the cross was the Lord of glory shedding His precious blood for sinners. The One who rose from the dead was not merely a prophet vindicated by God—He was God manifest in the flesh, victorious over death, Hell and the grave.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4 (KJB)
So let the billboards shout their lies from the roadside. The King James Bible answers with thunder: “The Word was God.” Jesus Christ existed before Abraham, before Mary, before Adam, before the angels and before the foundation of the world. He is the eternal Son of God, the Creator of all things, the great I AM, the crucified and risen Saviour, and the coming King. The billboard says Jesus is not God. Thomas looked upon the risen Christ and gave the only answer the Bible allows: “My Lord and my God.” That’s exactly who Jesus Christ is.

Israel’s rebirth as a nation in 1948 was not the forthcoming and prophesied spiritual redemption of Israel. It was the prophetic regathering of a people brought back to the land in unbelief, exactly as the prophets said would happen before the Lord would deal with them in the fire of Jacob’s trouble. The modern State of Israel is a miracle of Bible prophecy, yes, but it is not yet a saved nation. They are back in the land, but they have not yet looked upon Him whom they have pierced. They have a flag, a military, a capital, a government, and a homeland, but nationally speaking, they still reject their Messiah.
“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” Zechariah 12:10 (KJB)
I find it fascinating that gold melts at exactly 1,948 degrees farenheit and Israel was brought back to the Land in 1948. What’s the connection? Plenty. The Mark of the Beast, as we have shown you many times, is a human-implantable biometric device that will allow the user to engage in buying and selling in the coming global economic sytem under Antichrist, and it will need pure gold to operate. Jesus warns in Revelation 3 to “get the right gold”, the gold that Jesus alone provides and that doesn’t canker, rust or corrupt. Why is that important? Because James tells us that the day is coming, in the Tribulation, when God is going to change the molecular structure of pure gold into something that can and will rust and corrupt. Imagine what that will do to the insides of the bodies with the Mark of the Beast, it will be brutal.
“Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.” James 5:1-3 (KJB)
There is a massive difference between national restoration and spiritual redemption. Israel’s return to the land is prophetic, but redemption cannot come until the Second Advent. Ezekiel saw Israel restored physically before the Spirit of God entered them. The bones came together first, the breath came after.
“Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.” Ezekiel 37: 5,6 (KJB)
The Jews are physically back in the land, but their full spiritual awakening comes by the hand of the LORD. Modern Israel is not the fulfillment of Romans 11:26, not yet. It is the stage being set for it. God had to bring the Jews back into the land so that the prophecies concerning them being scattered one last time under Antichrist could come to pass. Regathered to be scattered is strange thought, I’ll grant you that, but that’s exactly how Isaiah sees it.
“For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.” Isaiah 28:21 (KJB)
For a brief moment, it will appear that Israel has finally secured her future. The temple system restored, sacrifices resumed, and the world celebrating a new age of peace in the Middle East. Isn’t that what Donald Trump’s Abraham Accords are all about? Isn’t that what Donald Trump’s Gaza Board of Peace is all about? Amazing how many things that are connected with the Antichrist in the near future are also connected to Donald Trump right now. But I’m sure that’s just a coincidence. Halfway through that final seven-year period, the mask comes off. The peacemaker becomes the persecutor. The covenant-maker becomes the desolator. The man Israel thought was protecting them will demand worship from them. Then, lights out. God rains down judgment from Heaven, and only the remnant will make it through.
“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:9-11 (KJB)
That is the essence of Antichrist: he does not merely oppose Christ, he replaces Christ. He offers peace without repentance, security without redemption, worship without God, and a kingdom without the King. Modern Israel is therefore not awaiting utopia, she is awaiting Jacob’s trouble. That trouble will be the furnace through which God purges the nation. The same people who returned to the land in unbelief will be driven into the fire of the time of Jacob’s trouble, not because God has abandoned them, but because God is going to finish what he promised. The Antichrist will deceive many, but he will not destroy the covenant purposes of God. There will be a remnant.
“And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.” Zechariah 13:9 (KJB)
That remnant will be refined, broken, awakened, and brought to national repentance. Israel’s redemption will not come through the United Nations, American foreign policy, Donald Trump, military strength, rebuilt temple worship, or a peace treaty with the Beast. Israel’s redemption comes when Jesus Christ returns at the Second Advent as the Deliverer from Sion. That is the prophetic bottom line.
“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” Luke 1:31-33 (KJB)
Israel in 1948 was restored nationally, but not redeemed spiritually. They are back in the land, but still blind to their King. They have returned to the geography of prophecy, but not yet to the God of prophecy. And because they rejected the true Messiah, they will fall prey to the false one. But the false messiah’s reign will be short. The Beast will rise, deceive, persecute, and demand worship, but Jesus Christ will return and destroy him. The gold will melt, the lies will burn, the remnant will be redeemed, and King Jesus will take the throne of His father David in Zion.

There are moments in history when the gears of prophecy seem to audibly grind as they move into position, and we may very well be watching one of those moments right now. The rapidly expanding war centered on Iran is no longer a regional flare-up, it is a geopolitical wildfire drawing in nation after nation until the entire Middle East looks like a powder keg waiting for a single spark to set it off.

What began as a direct confrontation between Israel, the United States, and Iran has now metastasized into something far larger. Missiles are flying across borders, drones are swarming the skies, naval forces are positioning in strategic waterways, and at least 20 nations are now either directly involved or caught in the blast radius of the conflict. Bases are being struck, alliances are activating, and the global chessboard is rapidly rearranging itself.

If you have even a passing familiarity with Bible prophecy, you should feel the hair on the back of your neck standing up right now. The Bible does not predict a peaceful road leading to the appearance of Antichrist. Instead, it tells us that the last days will be marked by escalating wars, chaos among nations, and a global system struggling to maintain control. Jesus Himself warned that this would be the atmosphere of the end times.

What we are watching unfold in the Middle East fits perfectly into that prophetic framework. This is not the end yet, but it is exactly the kind of destabilizing global conflict that moves the world closer to the moment when a false messiah will step forward promising peace. And that peace will be a lie. Trump’s Board of Peace in Gaza is doomed to failure before it ever even gets off the ground in you believe the prophets. “Believest thou the prophets?”
Emmanuel Macron orders armada to the Mediterranean
France is deploying about a dozen naval vessels, including its aircraft carrier strike group, to the Mediterranean, Red Sea and potentially the Strait of Hormuz as part of defensive support to allies threatened by the conflict in the Middle East. Speaking in Cyprus before visiting the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, which arrived this weekend in the eastern Mediterranean, President Emmanuel Macron sought to reassure his Cypriot counterpart after drones were intercepted heading towards the island last week. The prophet Daniel tells us that Antichrist will come to power through diplomacy and deception, presenting himself as the man who can solve the world’s impossible problems.
“And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.” Daniel 8:25 (KJB)
Think about that for a moment. What kind of world would be desperate enough to accept a global political savior? A world exhausted by war, a world terrified by instability, a world watching alliances collapse and nations burn. In other words, a world that looks exactly like the one we are watching develop right now.
The Middle East has always been the prophetic epicenter of end-times events, and Iran sits right in the middle of several key prophetic trajectories. Whether you look at Ezekiel 38, the alignment of nations around Israel, or the constant drumbeat of conflict surrounding Jerusalem, the pattern is unmistakable. The stage is being set.
“For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” Revelation 17:17 (KJB)
Now, does this current war mean that World War III has officially begun? No. But it absolutely demonstrates how quickly the entire planet could be dragged into one. The last century proved how regional wars can explode into global ones. World War I began with a single assassination. World War II began with a territorial invasion. Once alliances begin activating and major powers begin maneuvering, events can spiral out of control faster than anyone expects. And right now, the dominoes are standing closer together than they have in decades.
