‘I spent the next 4 days in prison clutching and reading the Bible the inmate gave me, that opened the door to the blessed opportunity to pray with one man to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ.’ All because of a Bible behind bars.

I received an email the other day, name withheld, from a person who wished to donate to our Free Bible and Gospel Tract Program. In the email, he told me of a harrowing tale of being unjustly accused and imprisoned, and what a dark, dark place that jail can be. I would like to share a little of that with you today, and to tell you of the amazing, new thing that the Lord is doing here at Now The End Begins.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18,19 (KJB)

The email began like this: “After spending the better part of the day in a holding cell, I was then handcuffed to a bar while the officer processed me in. I was made to strip in front of guards, given ill fitting prison clothes, handed a smelly bedroll, and escorted to the pod and placed in general population. Utterly terrifying.” I can hardly imagine what that must feel like, the fear that must have been racing and raging through their mind. But there was a ‘light’ hidden there in the darkness, someone had a Bible! “I asked a guard for a Bible and he didn’t have one BUT a fellow inmate that happened to be walking by and heard me ask had one and gave it to me. I spent the next 4 days clutching and reading that Bible. As a result, that opened the door to the blessed opportunity to pray with one man to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Others were likewise witnessed to and prayed with. We even had a Bible study in my jail cell wherein the Holy Sprit manifested and several men rededicated their lives to Jesus. It was an absolutely unbelievable thing to watch to God work in a horrible place like that jail. “ You may walk by your Bible a dozen times a day without hardly ever opening it up, but I guarantee you that in prison, if you’re saved, it would be the greatest treasure you could find.

You all know how, over the past few weeks, God gave us an opportunity to send a literal truckload of Bibles to the St. Lucie County Jail, in Fort Piece, Florida. Today I received in the mail a wonderful letter from the Sheriff of St. Lucie jail, thanking all of us for supplying them enough Bibles for every inmate in their 1,325 cell facility, and then some. Since then, we have received inquiries from other jails, asking if we could supply their people as well. We fulfilled every request this week.

Our Free Bible Program has just given birth to the NTEB Bibles Behind Bars Program where we will work with jails and prisons across America to get Bibles into those dark places.

At The Annual Christmas Parade In Dalton, Georgia, The Gospel Truth Jail Ministry Gives A Huge Shoutout To Bibles Behind Bars On Their Float

The Gospel Truth Jail Ministry gave Bibles Behind Bars an awesome shoutout with the float in the annual Christmas parade in Dalton, Georgia

Pastor Rick wrote to me the other day and said “Hello Bro. Grider, we are entering a Ministry Float in the Dalton Christmas parade. We are recognizing both ministries. It will be December 4th at 6: PM. We want our local community to be aware of the need and blessing of the local jail ministry. We will have a couple of men dressed as inmates on the float and a couple of preachers witnessing to them, and about four more dressed as inmates walking along the street beside the float. I thought you would like to see this. Look at the BIBLE BEHIND BARS logo. Thank you again for supplying the Word of God to the men.” Blessed beyond words.

What started out as just a case or two of King James Bibles we sent in response to an email from Bro. Micah Hedges up in Georgia back in 2020, has grown to Bibles Behind Bars literally blanketing the jails in north Georgia with thousands of Bibles through our association with the Gospel Truth Jail Ministry. What an honor it was for them to recognize us on their Christmas parade float, and we very much appreciate that. It is also a prescient reminder to me that we are working against a ticking clock as we watch the Church Age coming to a close and that ‘voice like a trumpet’ getting ready to sound. Just one more soul!

Orange County Corrections Chaplain Wesley Hooker Writes To Tell Us They’ve Just Handed Out The 32 Cases Of KJVs We Sent And Need More As Soon As Possible

Our inbox is filled with requests from jails and prisons across America from chaplains in desperate need of King James Bibles in English and Spanish

Chaplain Hooker at the Orange County Corrections in Florida wrote to us earlier to say ‘thank you’, first and foremost, for the 32 cases of KJVs we sent them last year. They see an average of 30 people getting saved per week, and our large print KJV is the most-requested Bible they have. He then asked could we send him some more as soon as possible? We just finished processing his request right before I started writing this article. My inbox is full of emails from chaplains who desperately need Bibles, and we’re sending them out as quick as we can, and we need your help.

In addition to that, we are sending 300 RVG Spanish KJVs to our friend Chaplain Bob at the Harris County Jail in Texas. We just sent pocket-sized Spanish New Testaments to the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility, and 100 Ruckman Reference Bibles for the ADA County Jail in Boise, Idaho. We are still looking to send Bibles to the Franklin County Regional Jail in Frankfort, Kentucky. Chaplain Dean at the Sierra Conservation Correctional Center wrote to say he was overwhelmed when they received the 160 KJVs we sent to them. 2025 will go down as the year we went out the most Bibles to jails and prisons than we ever have. Come help us to fulfill this amazing course the Lord has given us to do!

The Willacy County Regional Detention Facility In Texas Has Just Reached Out For Pocket New Testaments In Spanish For The 400 Inmates In Their Charge

A very specific request for pocket Bibles in Spanish comes from Chaplain Martinez at the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility In Texas

Last summer, Chaplain Eric from the Willacy County Regional Detention Facility In Texas reached out to us in need of Bibles in English and in Spanish, and we were more than happy to meet that request for him. Now, Chap has again reached out with a more specific need, Bibles in Spanish but they have to be small, pocket size, or the inmates will not be allowed to take their Bible with them when they are moved out of Willacy. Jesus came to set the captives free, that’s our mission.

“And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.” Isaiah 24:22 (KJB)

As Americans, we all have an opinion on immigration, legal and illegal, with people coming across our southern border with Mexico, I get that. But as Christians there can be no debate, all those immigrants are precious souls before the Lord in need of salvation. So when we have an opportunity to send Bibles directly into detention centers housing immigrants, what a blessing that is! Make no mistake, there are plenty of American citizens in that jail as well, and we must reach them, too.
