Duck Dynasty scores largest cable audience ever

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

On today’s sex-drugs-and-alcohol-soaked cable television landscape, where immorality, deceit and dishonesty have taken firm hold, a show about a close-knit Christian family who make duck calls and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ has just broken the all-time cable viewership record. Guess it shows you what America really wants.

And yes, we’re fans of the show.

WEST MONROE, La. — Today Duck Commander, the Robertson family duck call business made famous by A&E’s hit reality show “Duck Dynasty,” is more of an empire.

Alan Robertson, the “beardless brother” and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, joins the Duck Dynasty cast as it reaches epic proportions.

But in the beginning Phil Robertson made his duck calls in his backwoods Louisiana backyard. And as the oldest son, Alan Robertson served as one of his dad’s first employees.

Alan Joins Season 4

Although he’s the oldest brother, fans of “Duck Dynasty” probably didn’t know he existed until now. Alan debuted on the show’s Season 4 premiere to a record-breaking audience. Nearly 12 million people watched, making it the largest audience ever for a nonfiction show on cable.

Alan likes to joke that he’s responsible for the ratings bump, but in the Robertson family, all glory goes to God.

The day after the record-breaking premiere, Alan led dozens of Duck Commander employees in the company’s weekly devotion. The workers show up an hour early for the weekly ritual.

“Duck Dynasty” funny man John Godwin opened the group in prayer.

“Thank you so much for the cross and your grace and your mercy and we praise His name. Amen,” he prayed.

With his wife Lisa beside him and his daughter Alexis across from him (she and her husband work for Duck Commander, too), Alan preached about God’s love, reading from 1 Corinthians 13.

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” he quoted the passage.

“Without love we’re in serious trouble right?” he went on to say.

A Bumpy Spiritual Road

It’s something he knows well. Before rejoining Duck Commander a year ago, Alan pastored White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ for more than 20 years. But as a young man he never dreamed he’d become a minister.

“My high school years were just terrible and it was all a secret life- running around and drinking and cutting up,” he said. “So I was at the worst possible place – I was hiding in plain sight. I was in the church but I wasn’t a Christian. I wasn’t living for Christ.”

After he graduated, Phil told him he either had to shape up or move out so he wouldn’t be a bad influence on his younger brothers. Alan moved out, relocating to New Orleans where he found more trouble.

His life got so bad that it scared him straight and after about a year he moved back home. He made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ and Phil baptized him in the river behind their house.

The ‘Feather’ and the ‘Sledgehammer’

Since then Alan estimates the Robertson men have used the same water to baptize at least a thousand others. Now most weekends Alan and his dad travel the country together preaching the Gospel.

“I call us the feather and the sledge hammer,” Alan told CBN News. “I come in and I get people laughing. I get their tickle bone because I’m kind of the humor guy.

“And then dad comes in with a sledgehammer – boom! – you know, ‘This is what God has done for you. This is what our nation needs. Boom, boom, boom'” he continued.

At Duck Commander Headquarters Alan shares an office with his wife, Lisa, who also works for the business. The couple’s daughters and their husbands do, too.

Each day hundreds of requests come in for a family member to speak or appear at an event. “We’re on the telephone; we’re working schedules for the family,” Alan explained.

They also greet fans. While the other Robertson’s travel to different appearances, Alan and Lisa serve as family ambassadors. Now that Alan and Lisa will be appearing on Duck Dynasty, they can expect a lot more attention.

Alan’s daughter, Alexis, said she thinks her dad felt a little left out and said she’s glad he’s back with the family business and on the show.

“They know what they’re getting into because they’ve seen it with the brother’s,” she said. “But I think they are still going to be shocked whenever everywhere they go people know who they are.”

Such a Time as This

“Alan is just a natural fit anyway,” Godwin said. “He’s such a people person, you know, keep us grounded and keep everybody else grounded.”

“I really feel like God had prepared us for such a moment at this,” Alan said, “And when America needs some family to say, ‘Hey, we can make mistakes, you know, we can come from nothing – we can have all these things now, but ultimately none of it matters except that we’re saved and we’re going to be in heaven forever with Christ.'”

Lisa added, “And Kay always says, too, that, she says that whenever she prays she says if the money or the fame or anything ever takes us away from Christ, then take it all away and leave us with nothing. You know, because when we’re with nothing, we’ve got everything with Christ.” source – CBN

The Children At The Glory Fellowship Orphanage Have Not Eaten A Meal In The Past Three Days, So We’re Stepping In To Help Keep Their Supply Lines Open

The food has run out for the children at the Glory Fellowship Orphanage in Kenya, and the Lord has given us the calling to step in and do what we can

I got on a video call this morning with Pastor Dancan in Kenya for our weekly Bible Study and discipleship time, and almost immediately I could see he was highly preoccupied with something else. I asked him what was going on, and he said he was troubled because the local people who normally donate beans, rice, banans and oil to help feed the 84 kids in his charge had not supplied him with that recently, and he wasn’t quite sure how to solve the problem. When I asked how long it was since the children had eaten, and he said 3 days, that hit me hard.

“Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.” Isaiah 1:17 (KJB)

I will be honest, my first reaction upon hearing the kids hadn’t eaten in 3 days was not so much sadness, it was anger. Not anger at any person, but it made me mad that such a situation could take place. Fighting mad. So immediately, I instructed our contact in Kenya to deliver to Pastor Dancan enough rice, beans, maize, bananas, cooking oil and salt to solve the immediate need for all the children, some of which has already arrived at the orphanage. The rest, Lord willing, will arrive tomorrow. I am praying that we will be able to keep them fed for the next month or so, and that many reading this article will want to partner with us to meet this pressing need. But what we really need to do for them is get them self-sufficient by planting some basic crops and getting them some chickens, a goat and a cow. The cost to supply them with foodstuffs for the next month is $3,500, and I am right now researching the most feasible way to help them build a little farm. The system appears to be assembling itself, one vaccine patch, one digital identifier, one biometric sensor and one cryptocurrency transaction at a time. When the man of sin finally steps onto the world stage, he will not need to invent the machinery of Revelation 13; he will simply inherit it, unite it and demand worship through it. The Bible gave us the finished blueprint two thousand years ago, and now fallen man is manufacturing every component with breathtaking precision and rapidity. NTEB and For His Glory Ministries Are Partnering To Open A Bible And Gospel Tract Printing And Distribution Center In The Philippines

The 8th NTEB Old-Fashioned Camp Meeting is officially one month away, and we are soooo excited to see everyone. As you know, our theme this is missions – local and foreign -and will be present a roster of speakers who are actively engaged in missions in these last days. Over the past several months, we have gotten to know and spend time with newlywed couple Mike and Michelle Burton, and we bring you the good news of their surrendering to be boots-on-the-ground missionaires to Angeles City in the Philippines. Not only that, NTEB will be partnering with them and their For His Glory Ministries, to open up a Bible printing facility and evangelization outpost! We just wrapped up a podcast with them, and you can watch it below. We have prayed a long time for the Lord to give us an opening in the Philippines, and now He has in a mighty and incredible way.

“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them. ” Acts 16:9 (KJB)

Ever since we started our Free Bible Program, it has been our hearts desire to establish an NTEB base in the Philippines for the distrubution of Bibles in English and Tagalog, as well as gospel tracts and scripture portions. We get thousands of requests per year, and have always wanted to have a facility there. But try as we might, as we prayed for this over the years, the Lord never opened up that door for us, until now that is. Mike and Michelle, along with Philippine national Edgardo Gatchalian, have secured a location in Angeles City where they will not only be living, but will also serve as base of operations for printing Bibles and tracts, as well as a distrubution center. NTEB will be providing them with Bibles and tracts, as well as helping to cover some of the costs of getting their new facility up and running. Please pray about helping us to do this bold and mighty work for the Lord, and if God has prospered you, please click on the donate link to help us.
