Last year seems a lifetime ago, but even then, cash was no longer king. The greenback had already lost its premier role as Americans’ medium of exchange in dollar terms. Plastic card and digital transactions had taken over. The COVID-19 Plannedemic may be final nail in that coffin.

Since the start of the Internet Age back in 1994, the world has been on a collision course with becoming a cashless society, as the Bible says we will be in the end times. Naturally, this idea is resisted by some and embraced by others. The unforeseen wildcard of the COVID-19 coronavirus Plannedemic is rapidly pushing global society to embrace a cashless existence.

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” Revelation 13:16-18 (KJB)

I had said through most of 2019 that I was expecting 2020 to be the ‘year of prophecy’ and it has been exactly that, a highly-prophetic year and it’s barely 5 months old. Since COVID-19 started here in America, there has been a relentless media campaign to make us afraid, and cash is absolutely of the things they want us to be too afraid to keep using. Remember Congress talking about using a digital dollar tied to the stimulus plan(s)? Yeah, that will come back, don’t you worry.

FROM BOSTON HERALD: COVID-19 has accelerated this process for several reasons. Cash cannot change hands at a distance of six feet, and besides, who wants to grab that dirty bill? Sheltering at home means more purchases are being done over the internet.

The move away from legal tender was well on its way pre-virus. Some stores and eateries had stopped accepting cash altogether. If you’re a sandwich shop doing a brisk lunch business, processing plastic takes less time than waiting for someone to fish 55 cents out of their pocket. The restaurant chain Sweetgreen ran a stopwatch and found that cashless payments could be completed up to 15% faster than ones using paper money. That would enable businesses to hire fewer of what we used to call “cashiers.”

The Federal Reserve reports that debit cards are the most frequently used means of paying. Cash is employed in 26% of all transactions and 49% of those under $10. But every age group up through the baby boomers is doing more of them using digital means and plastic than cash. Not surprisingly, millennials lead the pack.

Despite these trends, a few states and cities have passed laws requiring businesses to accept cash, and here’s why: Some elderly people still don’t do technology. They don’t even have a cellphone, much less a PayPal account for transferring money. Many poor people don’t have credit cards or even bank accounts. Some 6.5% of American households are “unbanked,” according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Cashless establishments discriminate against this group.

The Pew Research Center found 29% of adults reporting that they made no purchases with cash during a typical week. But those making less than $30,000 a year were about four times as likely as higher-income Americans to say they make all or almost all of their purchases using cash.

Given that the average check price at the Dos Toros Taqueria was only $11.50, it seemed odd that the fast-food chain would attempt a nationwide ban on cash payment. But it did before reversing course when forced. Some of us who are not poor prefer cash for valid reasons. Those wanting to control spending like it because psychologically, cash still feels like real money in a way plastic cards do not. Cash is anonymous, making transactions more private. That protects users from identity theft (though it makes them more vulnerable to pickpockets). Meanwhile, waiters, drivers and hairdressers seem to like cash tips.

For business owners, on the other hand, not having a lot of cash in the register deters robberies and saves them the trouble of hiring armored trucks. And they don’t have to worry about counterfeit money.

Cash has long been a medium for hiding criminal activities. The society that no longer uses it can better monitor drug dealers and tax cheats. The federal government in 1969 made the $100 bill the highest bank note obviously to force drug cartels to carry more bills, making them more detectable. The $500 bill, with William McKinley’s face on it, is no longer issued, as well as the $1,000 (Grover Cleveland) and $5,000 (James Madison) bills. READ MORE

Pastor Joe and his team have been faithfully serving for 31 years with their group at the Gordon County Jail, and Bibles are nearly impossible to come by now

The jails in North Georgia are reaping a Bible bonanza as requests are flooding in and King James Bibles are being sent back out. So far, we have supplied Bibles and books to The Floyd County Jail, the Houston County Detention Center, the Cheetooga County Jail, the Whitfield County Jail and the Murray County Jail. This week, we’ve received additional requests from the Gordon County Jail and the Catoosa County Jail. All these facilities are located throughout north and central Georgia.

“And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.” Acts 13:49 (KJB)

Over at Gordon County, Pastor Joe wrote to tell us this “For the past 31 years, a team of Preachers & some women go in every Tuesday Night from 7 to 9:30pm at the Gordon County Jail in Calhoun, GA. To preach, Testify, or just talk to the in mates. I have not kept a number on the Bible’s. But this year we have gone through 4 distributors. We are having a hard time getting bibles now.” We hear that from so many chaplains and jail workers now, that it’s nearly impossible for the smaller jails – 150 to 550 inmates – to get their hands on much-needed Bibles and Christian literature. Pastor Joe and his team have been faithfully serving for 31 years with their group at the Gordon County Jail, and it’s an honor to help the supply lines open for them and all the others that Bibles Behind Bars serves. They need 500 Bibles. The Catoosa County Jail is the most recent facility to come aboard, and Bro. Roger there says “we have 250 inmates average, we need 50 Bibles for the meeting rooms and 100 to give to inmates as they request them. We need 10 Spanish Bibles.  We don’t have that many arrests of Hispanics. Weekly, we preach to around 100. Whatever you can give us is very much appreciated”.

As if all this wasn’t enough, the Lord has also led Project South Africa to our door, they have a shipping container heading out from Statesboro, Georgia in a few weeks, and would dearly love us to put a couple of thousand King James Bibles onboard. Wow, our cup truly is running over with opportunity to serve the Lord. To fully finance these three requests, it will take somewhere between $10-12,000 that will purchase between 2,500 to 3,500 King James Bibles divided up among the 3 groups. Come help us, we need you, and all these souls are counting on us.

PROJECT SOUTH AFRICA: The Same Church Planting Group Connected To Kidnapped Missionary Josh Sullivan Has Reached Out To Us For Help With Bibles

Project South Africa is in need of Bibles and has reached out to us for help with getting God’s preserved word there in abundance

Do you remember a few months ago the incredible story of American church planting missionary Josh Sullivan who was kidnapped and held for ransom in South Africa? When the call to pray for his safe return went out across social media, millions of Christians held their breath and fervently prayed for his safe return. Amazingly and miraculously, the Lord did just that. Now that same collective of missionaries have reached out to us asking for help in putting King James Bibles in a container heading to Africa shortly.

“And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.” Acts 8:27-29 (KJB)

Today I received an email from Bro. Kevin Hall, he and Bro. Mark Coffey work with a group called Project South Africa, they help to plant churches and maintain a Bible college called Bay Baptist Bible College of Port Elizabeth in South Africa. Josh Sullivan teaches Bible in that school, and is part of this amazing team of people evangelizing South Africa. Bro. Kevin wrote to me and said “I spoke to you this morning about Bibles for our container being shipped to South Africa. Pastor Rick Spence of Dalton, GA gave me your contact info as you had supplied him with Bibles for jail ministry in North Georgia. Vision Baptist Missions is the mission board under which myself, and Mark Coffey work. Mark is the one organizing the container. A ministry called Directline Ministries is helping with the shipping of the container. Josh Sullivan is a fellow laborer in our city. We work together. He is a friend, fellow church planter and teaches in our shared Bible College.” So not only is the Lord having us supply virtually all the jails in North Georgia with Bibles, now it would seem He’d like us to send some to South Africa, as well.

The Lord sure is funny sometimes, isn’t He? One day we’re all praying for Josh Sullivan to be returned home safely, and the next those same people are reaching out to us asking for help with sending Bibles to South Africa. Depending on how much we raise, I’d like us to send a minimum of 1,000 Bibles (cost $3,590) up to perhaps 2,500 Bibles (cost $8,975). But we can’t do it without your help.
