Finland has become the first country in the world to start bird flu vaccinations for humans, health authorities announced on Tuesday. Is this Disease X?

Oh, you can tell it’s an election year here in America. CSL Seqirus, the company that makes the vaccines, in 2022 partnered with Arcturus Therapeutics to access their late stage self-amplifying mRNA vaccine platform technology. Bird flu: Finland becomes first country in the world to start vaccinations for humans

FROM THE EXPRESS UK: The Nordic country plans to offer preemptive bird flu vaccines as soon as next week to some workers with exposure to animals, according to authorities. Finland has bought vaccines for 10,000 people, each consisting of two injections, as part of a joint EU procurement of up to 40 million doses for 15 nations.

Australian manufacturer CSL Seqirus, who created the doses, said to Reuters that Finland will be the first country to roll out the vaccine.

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare said in a statement: “The vaccine will be offered to those aged 18 or over who are at increased risk of contracting avian influenza due to their work or other circumstances.”

In recent years, the H5N1 strain of bird flu has killed hundreds of millions of poultry globally. More recently, it has increasingly been spreading to cow herds across the US and, in some cases, to humans.

While Finland has not detected the virus in humans, the country is eager to roll out vaccinations given high transmission risks posed by its fur farms.

Chief Physician Hanna Nohynek, at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, said to Reuters: “The conditions in Finland are very different in that we have fur farms where animals can end up in contact with wildlife.”

Last year, widespread outbreaks of bird flu among mink and foxes in Finland’s farms led to the culling of some 485,000 animals to stop spread of the virus. READ MORE

Kansas on Monday sued Pfizer, accusing the company of misleading the public about its COVID-19 vaccine by hiding risks while making false claims about its effectiveness.

There is no way the COVID vaccines are safe because too many safety procedures and protocols were violated in the mad rush to get something to market. Warp speed is a good thing for interplanetary space travel, but it is a horrible thing for medicine. NTEB warned you against taking anything connected with mRNA, and as new drugs are coming to market, that warning remains solidly in effect. The words Pfizer and Moderna will forever be associated with death and suffering on a global level.

I would love to see a Nuremberg 2 situation where the people connected with the pandemic and the vaccine were brought to trial to give account for their actions during that time, and the vast majority of people reading this right now would agree with me. But that would also mean putting ‘father of the COVID vaccine’ Donald Trump on the stand as well. He could have gotten rid of Fauci, but he didn’t. For someone who promised to drain the swamp, that should have been low-hanging fruit, but for some reason Fauci was protected. Pfizer sued by Kansas for allegedly hiding COVID vaccine risks, making false claims

FROM THE NY POST: In a lawsuit filed in the District Court of Thomas County, the state said the New York-based drugmaker’s alleged false statements violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act. It is seeking unspecified money damages.

“Pfizer made multiple misleading statements to deceive the public about its vaccine at a time when Americans needed the truth,” Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, a Republican, said in a statement.

The lawsuit claims that, beginning shortly after the vaccine’s rollout in early 2021, Pfizer concealed evidence that the shot was linked to pregnancy complications, including miscarriage, as well as inflammation in and around the heart, known as myocarditis and pericarditis.

“The representations made by Pfizer about its COVID-19 vaccine have been accurate and science-based,” Pfizer said in a statement, adding that it believed the lawsuit had no merit.

The Food and Drug Administration in June 2021 added a warning about myocarditis and pericarditis to the vaccine’s label. The side effects are rare and most often occur in adolescent boys and young men. A 2023 review of 21 studies by the US National Institutes of Health concluded that COVID vaccines were not linked to miscarriage.

Kansas also said Pfizer falsely claimed that its vaccine, which was developed with German partner BioNTech for the original strain of the virus, retained a high effectiveness against mutated variants, and that it would prevent not only illness but transmission. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a similar lawsuit against Pfizer last year, which remains pending. Pfizer has also called that case meritless. Kobach said on Monday that other states had been collaborating with Kansas in its investigation and are expected to file lawsuits as well. READ MORE

Moderna on Monday said its combination vaccine that targets both Covid-19 and the flu was more effective than existing standalone shots for those viruses in a late-stage trial.

I am 63 years old, and to date have never taken a COVID shot, and have never taken a flu shot either, and never will. Over the years we’ve done many stories on the dangers of the flu shot, but the number of victims for that pales in comparison with the number of victims that the COVID shots have claimed. Messenger RNA technology is not safe, and there is no incentive on this earth that could compel or entice me to try it. The 3,000,000 dead people who took COVID mRNA injections during the Pandemic are not wrong about its safety or efficacy. Moderna wants to put mRNA in everything, you’ve been warned.

So now they’ve taken a bad thing, the flu shot, and combined it with a worse thing, the COVID shot, to create the perfect zombie knock-out punch that they want to inject inside your body. Moderna’s combination Covid, flu vaccine is more effective than existing shots in late-stage trial

FROM NBC DFW: The biotech company is the first to release positive phase three data on a Covid and flu combination shot, giving it a potential lead over rival vaccine makers Pfizer and Novavax. Moderna plans to file for regulatory approval for its combination jab this summer in the U.S. and hopes it can enter the market in 2025, the company’s CEO Stephane Bancel said in an interview.

Moderna’s messenger RNA combination shot, called mRNA-1083, is made up of both the company’s vaccine candidate for seasonal influenza and a newer, “next-generation” version of its Covid shot. Both of those experimental vaccines – mRNA-1010 and mRNA-1283 – have shown positive results in separate phase three trials.  The ongoing late-stage trial on mRNA-1083 examined the combination shot in 8,000 patients.

The study compared the combination shot with an enhanced flu vaccine called Fluzone HD and Moderna’s currently licensed Covid shot, Spikevax, in one group of patients ages 65 and above. The trial also compared Moderna’s combination jab with a standard flu shot called Fluarix and Spikevax in another group of participants between the ages of 50 and 64.

In both age groups, a single dose of Moderna’s combination vaccine produced “statistically significantly higher” immune responses against three strains of influenza and the Covid omicron variant XBB.1.5.

Moderna said the safety of the combination shot, along with how well patients could tolerate it, was acceptable. The most common side effects were injection site pain, fatigue, muscle pain and headache. The majority of those effects were mild to moderate in severity.

Moderna is also developing a combination shot targeting the flu and RSV, and another vaccine targeting all three respiratory viruses: Covid, flu and RSV.

Meanwhile, Pfizer and BioNTech also are studying a vaccine that targets both Covid and the flu in a late-stage trial. Novavax is developing a combination for those viruses as well, but its Covid shot uses protein-based technology. READ MORE
