Beware Of The Charismatic Evangelical Collab Called ‘The Return’ That Takes Scripture Out Of Context And Places The Church In The Time Of Jacob’s Trouble!
Leaders of ‘The Return’ are charismatic and evangelicals preaching revival by putting Christians in the time of Jacob’s trouble at the Second Coming.
The verses in Joel 2 and 3 are addressed to and speaking of Israel in the time of Jacob’s trouble at the end of the great Tribulation, something no Christian will ever experience.
I was made aware of something called ‘The Return’ the other day, and on the surface it was intriguing, but only for a minute. It calls for a day, September 26th, for Christians to come together in Washington, DC, for ‘individual, national and global repentance’ before the Lord. But the red flags began firing when the site starting taking me to Joel 2 and 3, Matthew 24, 2 Chronicles 7:14, all places that doctrinally deal virtually exclusively with the Jews and the nation of Israel. Why would you want to do something like that? You won’t find Christians in any of those places.
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (KJB)
So after digesting the dispensationally incorrect bible references, I then went to the page where it shows you the leaders of ‘The Return’, people like Jonathan Cahn, Pat Robertson, Anne Graham Lotz, and Steven Strang who is the founder of Charisma Magazine. The vast majority of the leadership board of ‘The Return’ are hardcore charismatics, and the rest evangelicals. They have people like John Kilpatrick, the man who orchestrated the phony Brownsville Revival in Pensacola, Florida. Now everything started to make sense.
THE COMING LITERAL, VISIBLE AND PHYSICAL THOUSAND YEAR REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST ON THIS EARTH FROM JERUSALEM
- CHRISTIANS AT THE SECOND COMING
“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” Revelation 19:13,14 (KJB)
If you read the information presented on the ‘The Return’ site, and I strongly urge you do, what you will find is a bunch of charismatics and evangelicals trying to prepare you for the Day of the Lord at the Second Coming. But not how the bible teaches it in Revelation 19:14, with us on white horses returning with King Jesus. No, the folks at ‘The Return’ put Christians on the ground in the Tribulation. They make zero mention of the Church being removed in the Pretribulation Rapture, and instead want to ‘prepare you’ for an event you will never see if you’re saved right now. That is not only dangerous teaching, it is false teaching.
- CHRISTIANS REMOVED BEFORE THE TIME OF JACOB’S TROUBLE
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 (KJB)
TEACHING THAT THE CHURCH WILL GO THROUGH THE TRIBULATION IS ANTI-SEMITIC REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY
They talk about having a day for ‘repentance’ and that is always a good thing. Christians should always keep short accounts with the Lord, and be constantly seeking to get closer to Him. But you don’t do that by stealing promises made to Israel alone, and putting the born again Church in the middle of that. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJB) is a promise made to the Jews and national Israel, not transferable to any other nation or people. That is Replacement Theology! The verses Joel 2 and 3 are addressed to and speaking of Israel in the time of Jacob’s trouble at the end of the great Tribulation, something no Christian will ever experience. Quoting John the Baptist telling people that the ‘kingdom of Heaven is at hand’ has no application of any kind to anyone living in the Church Age. Why? Because we are in the Kingdom of God, and the two kingdoms are not the same.

“And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.”Acts 28:30,31 (KJB)
In the end, we see that ‘The Return’ is just another charismatic smoke and mirrors pitch, trying in vain to gin up revival when Revelation 3, and 2 Timothy 4 clearly show us revival is not coming in the end of the Church Age. These people know nothing of the dispensations we see in the bible, they do absolutely zero rightly dividing of scripture, and they use the ESV. I didn’t find one King James Bible person anywhere connected with ‘The Return’. For all the reasons we have stated here, and many more besides, you would do well to avoid any connection to this doomed from the start, last days attempt at man-made revival. I didn’t find a single verse quoted on their site from the apostle Paul, our apostle we are told to follow. Why not?? You know why.
- THE BIBLE IS AGAINST ECUMENISM
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3 (KJB)
Let me close with this. On their site, they say “The Return is not about any single organization, denomination, or person and has but one agenda—revival. A global movement of this size is only possible because of an alignment of God’s people to pursue his will and bring about revival.” Meaning? Meaning it is an ecumenical effort, doesn’t matter what you believe, what bible you use, how you view scripture, or anything else. Their only concern is that “everyone comes together” to work for a “higher purpose”. But how can two walk together unless they be agreed? Answer – they cannot. Am I to believe the bible tells me to join forces with false teachers like Paula White, Jim Bakker, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland and all the other charismatic fakers and phonies? No, it does not, it tells me to expose their false teachings, not join hands with them for ‘revival’.
