Outrage As Baptist Pastor Dan Freemyer Gives Benediction Prayer At Baylor Graduation Asking God To ‘Deliver Us’ From The Evil Of ‘Straight White Men’ And ‘Fossil Fuels’
Baylor University graduation prayer given by Pastor Dan Freemyer of the Broadway Baptist church in Texas asked God to ‘deliver us from straight white men’.

Get a load of the racially-charged ‘prayer’ delivered at Baylor University’s 2019 commencement by Dan Freemyer, the pastor of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
A number of years ago, I created a category on NTEB called “The Church Of Laodicea“, for articles and stories about churches and pastors claiming to be Christian yet were incredibly either lukewarm or full-blown apostates. For a long time there was little to no stories involving Baptist churches. Sadly, over the past year, that has changed. Baptist churches are falling just as far and just as fast as the Liberal megachurches are.
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:14-16 (KJV)
So everyone let’s give Pastor Dan Freemyer of the Broadway Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas, a hearty NTEB welcome! (Bronx cheers only, please). Their LinkedIn page says they have been in operation since 1882. Well, 2019 is as far as you go, I guess. What type of ‘prayer’ is concerned about fossil fuels, climate change, and straight white men? The prayer of the lost social justice warrior wolf in sheep’s clothing who uses God and the Bible as a cover to promote a Liberal Socialist Progressive agenda.
Oh, in case you were wondering, the About Us section of the Broadway Baptist church site says they are ‘fully affirming of women in lay and professional ministry roles and fully inclusive of LGBTQ+ persons.’ You can feign surprise now if you like. I’ll just be here typing and rolling my eyes. ‘Baptist’ church, is it? Go kid your grandma.
Baylor University Prayer Denounces “Straight White Men”
FROM TODD STARNES: “God, give them the moral imagination to reject the old keys we are trying to give them to a planet that we are poisoning by running it on fossil fuels and misplaced priorities – a planet with too many straight, white men like me behind the steering wheel while others have been expected to sit quietly in the back of the bus,” the minister prayed.
Did you notice the cheers from the crowd?
A friend from Get Religion sent me a link to an exclusive story about the prayer written by Rod Dreher, a fine writer for The American Conservative.
“This is appalling,” Dreher wrote. “Whoever would have imagined that ‘straight white men’ would be denounced in prayer at a Baylor University graduation ceremony? I wonder how many straight white men are Baylor donors? I wonder how many straight white male and female parents of high school students will understand the meaning of this signal, and look elsewhere for their children’s Christian college education?”
Folks, it is imperative that you do your homework before sending your kid off to what you thought was a Christian university.
If you are a college-bound straight, white man you might want to consider removing Baylor University from your list of schools. Your kind may not be welcome.
I reached out to the university’s director of communications for a statement about the politically and racially-charged prayer. Does the university condemn the pastor’s prayer or do they stand by the prayer?
Baylor University Spring 2019 Graduation
This benediction prayer by Pastor Dan Freemyer is significant because the pastor directly references the use of fossil fuels and straight male privilege in today’s world. This is surprising given Baylor’s conservative leanings in the heart of Texas.

When you contribute to this fundraising effort, you are helping us to do what the Lord called us to do. The money you send in goes primarily to the overall daily operations of this site. When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. Even all the way to South Africa. We even restarted our weekly radio Bible study on Sunday nights again, thanks to your generous donations.
But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 12,832 people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 151,781 followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 14,000 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.
