Liberals are livid at Sen. Charles Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) decision to oppose the White House’s nuclear deal with Iran, and have threatened to launch a full-scale war as retribution.

EDITOR’S NOTE: It is a very rare thing for me to agree with a liberal, especially a New York City liberal, but this time I sure do. Recognizing it for the bad deal that it truly is, Chuck Schumer has decided to stand against Obama’s Nuclear Treaty Deal with Iran, and to stand with Israel. Great job, Mr. Schumer, hope it has a ripple effect.

Activists and former top officials within the Obama administration are openly contemplating whether Schumer’s stance disqualifies him from serving as the next Senate Democratic leader — which he is primed to do — and seeking to temporarily cut off money to Democrats in the upper chamber.

It’s unclear whether Schumer’s announcement will have a devastating effect on the White House’s efforts to prevent Democrats from killing the deal when it comes up for a vote in Congress next month. But it’s clear that he will be Public Enemy No. 1 for liberal activists throughout the August recess, as they aim to rally support from Democrats on the agreement.

“This is a real and serious backlash, one that comes from deep within the Democratic Party’s base, and I think we’re only going to see it grow,” said Becky Bond, the political director for Credo Action.

Liberal groups including Credo, MoveOn.org and Democracy for America are rallying supporters to flood congressional mailboxes and town halls over the course of the next month to demand lawmakers support the agreement. On Friday, they launched a new website, 60DaysToStopAWar.com, to list upcoming town halls and aid in the push.

Late on Thursday evening, Schumer upended the congressional debate over the Iran agreement by announcing in a lengthy statement that he “must oppose the agreement” and “will vote yes on a motion of disapproval” when it comes up for a vote in September.

He also will vote to override President Obama’s veto of legislation to kill the deal, Schumer’s office confirmed. The move puts Schumer at odds on the most significant foreign policy issue of the year with both Obama and Hillary Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

That left many liberals furious, and stunned at how the presumptive next Senate Democratic leader could break with virtually every other leader of their party.

Even though the No. 3 Senate Democrat released his statement in the middle of the first GOP presidential debate — practically ensuring it would be buried in the media — activist groups including MoveOn and Credo pounced within moments.

“No real Democratic leader does this,” MoveOn.org political action executive director Ilya Sheyman declared less than 30 minutes after Schumer’s statement was posted online. “If this is what counts as ‘leadership’ among Democrats in the Senate, Senate Democrats should be prepared to find a new leader or few followers.”

In retaliation, Sheyman called for MoveOn.org’s 8 million supporters to cease donating money to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and any Democratic candidate who opposes the deal.

Bloggers at the liberal website Daily Kos called Schumer a “warmonger” who would “be a disaster” as the top Senate Democrat.

Ex-Obama aides including Dan Pfeiffer, Tommy Vietor and Ben LaBolt similarly condemned the stance, questioning whether Schumer would be able to lead Democrats in the upper chamber after so publicly breaking with the leader of their party.

“Chuck Schumer, who said it was a mistake to pass Obamacare, now comes out again the Iran Deal,” tweeted former White House speechwriter Jon Favreau. “This is our next Senate leader?”

In their outrage, multiple defenders of the deal referenced Schumer’s claim in December that Congress was focusing on the “wrong problem” in passing ObamaCare in 2009, as well as his 2002 support for the invasion in Iraq.

For some, the biggest sting appeared to be less about Schumer’s position than about his timing.

The New York Democrat had long been critical about the Iran deal, and few people watching the congressional debate were surprised that he ultimately came out against it.

But many expected him to wait for weeks, so that other Democrats would already have made their decision and would not be influenced by his call.

James Fallows, a national correspondent for The Atlantic, who is liberal, said on Twitter that he “can understand” why Schumer would oppose the deal.

“But if he lifts a finger” to convince other Democrats to oppose the agreement, the “party should oppose him as Senate leader,” Fallow tweeted.

Obama and Hillary Clinton, he added, “should join in.”

White House spokesman Eric Schultz retweeted a part of Fallows’s message, seemingly endorsing the message.

On Thursday, Schumer confirmed that he will “try to persuade fellow lawmakers that the vote to disapprove is the right one,” but rejected the idea that he would be able to force any Democrats to follow his lead.

It’s unlikely that the debate will substantively diminish Schumer’s chances at taking the reins of the Senate Democratic caucus next year, though liberals insist that the bitter taste in their mouth isn’t going away any time soon.

“You can imagine a scenario where, let’s say Republicans win the presidency and Democrats are not only in the minority but there’s a Republican in the White House, and who will the Democratic Party want to lead them?” asked Bond, the Credo Action political director. “The guy that said ObamaCare was a mistake? A guy that championed the first Iraq war? A guy that helped Republicans take us into, if successful, a new war of choice in the Middle East? That’s not going to be the guy the Democrats need to lead.”

“There’s a lot of time between now and that vote, and the progressive base is pushing back hard,” she told The Hill.

While nominally directed at Schumer, the anger could also be read as a thinly veiled message to other Democrats who are currently on the fence about the deal, including Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.).

That message: Schumer doesn’t give you cover.

Schumer’s Thursday evening bombshell flipped the script on the congressional narrative surrounding the deal, which has been gaining support from voices such as Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) and Schumer’s own New York colleague, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).

Opponents still have a steep hill to climb to tear away the 44 Democrats in the House and 13 in the Senate needed to not only advance legislation to kill the Iran deal but also override Obama’s veto.

“We’re going to get the Iran deal done with or without Sen. Schumer or anyone else who insists on being trapped in the past when it comes to conflict resolution in the Middle East,” said Charles Chamberlain, the executive director of Democracy for America, in a statement to The Hill.

“Senator Schumer was wrong when he voted to back the war with Iraq and he’s wrong to work with Republicans to kill this nuclear deal with Iran, period,” he added. Schumer was a big win for opponents, but they appear to still be far from the magic number.

“I think the impact is that now the hope of killing a resolution of disapproval on an initial vote with 41 Democratic votes against is now gone,” added another person who is following the vote. “But I still think 34 Democratic votes upholding the presidential veto is more likely than not.” source

For weeks now we’ve been telling you that the Department of War was about to declare war on Venezuela, and moments ago Trump ordered a naval blockage around them. Seems like a president doesn’t need approval from Congress anymore to declare war, he is doing it by sheer force of his own will, and no one is pushing back on him. What does he want? Land and oil, that’s the memo.

Trump orders blockade on Venezuelan oil tankers, escalating pressure on Maduro regime, says he will ‘seize oil and land’

FROM ABC NEWS 6: The announcement follows the U.S. seizure of an oil tanker off Venezuela’s coast last week, an unusual intervention that came amid a stepped-up U.S. military presence in the region. In a statement posted to his social media platform Tuesday night, Trump accused Venezuela of using oil revenue to fund drug trafficking and other criminal networks, and he signaled that additional military deployments are underway.

“Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest armada ever assembled in the history of South America,” Trump wrote. “It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — until such time as they return to the United States of America all of the oil, land, and other assets that they previously stole from us.”

The military buildup has coincided with a series of U.S. strikes on small vessels operating in international waters in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. At least 95 people have been killed in 25 documented strikes, a campaign that has prompted bipartisan concern in Congress about the scope and legality of the operations.

Administration officials have defended the effort as a key tool for reducing drug shipments to the United States and rejected suggestions that the campaign oversteps legal boundaries.

While the White House has repeatedly framed the operations as counter-narcotics missions, Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, appeared to link them directly to efforts to pressure Maduro. Don’t call it antisemitism, the outrageous attacks on Jews around the world since October 7th can only be called Anti-Jewish terrorism and it’s getting worse by the day

With each tick-tock of the end times clock, born again Christians draw closer and closer to the glorious catching away mentioned in the Bible we call the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church. But like we’ve long told you, that event when it happens will be like a helicopter rescue behind enemies lines where we will be so close to the ‘action’ that the tips of our shoelaces will be melting from the flames of battle. I have long believed we will be taken up and away in the midst of much ‘small t’ tribulation. But what about the Jews? They go into the time of Jacob’s trouble, which by all accounts, seems to be doing it’s level best to make an early appearance.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Daniel 9:27 (KJB)

For most of the post-World War II era, the Western world liked to tell itself a comforting story: we learned our lesson. Never Again, right? The idea that antisemitism was an old demon chained up in the basement of history, something you might spot on the fringes, but never again in the daylight. However, just the opposite is true.

Because in 2025, antisemitism isn’t hiding in the basement. It’s walking the streets, showing up at schools, splashing across social media, and in too many places it has now crossed the line into outright terrorism and bloodshed. When the Jewish people must ring their synagogues with barricades and armed guards in nations that once promised “never again,” you are watching a moral collapse in real time and from the Bible’s standpoint, you’re also watching the spiritual hatred the Word of God has been warning about for thousands of years.

“Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.” Psalm 44:13,14 (KJB)

The hard part is that this new antisemitism often wears a suit, holds a microphone, and wraps itself in “activism” language. It frequently claims to be about Israel, or “Zionism,” or “politics.” But the pattern keeps revealing itself: when Jewish homes, Jewish schools, Jewish businesses, Jewish holidays, Jewish students, and Jewish worshippers become the target — it’s not “geopolitics.” It’s Jew-hatred.

A new multi-country benchmark, the J7 Annual Report on Antisemitism 2025, compares incident rates across seven of the largest Jewish communities outside Israel. On a per-capita basis, the report shows the scale of the problem is not evenly distributed — but it is widespread, and in some countries it is staggering. For example, Germany’s per-Jewish-capita incident rate in 2023 exceeded 38 incidents per 1,000 Jews, and the UK exceeded 13 per 1,000 in 2023; in Australia the rate jumps dramatically in 2024 (17.60 per 1,000), reflecting the post–Oct 7 shockwave rippling across societies.

United States: record-breaking totals and high-profile violence

ADL’s Audit of Antisemitic Incidents 2024, published in 2025, recorded 9,354 antisemitic incidents in 2024 in the United States — the highest number since ADL began tracking decades ago — with increases in assault and vandalism as well. Then in 2025, antisemitism didn’t just remain “an atmosphere.” It manifested in headline violence. The U.S. Department of Justice announced federal charges after the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy staff members outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. (May 21, 2025).

United Kingdom: still historically high — and targeted synagogue terror

In the first half of 2025, CST recorded 1,521 antisemitic incidents across the UK — the second-highest first-half total CST has ever reported. And CST notes that 51% of those incidents referenced or were linked to Israel/Palestine, Oct 7, or the ongoing conflict, showing how often “Israel talk” becomes the delivery mechanism for targeting Jews where they live. And in October 2025, Britain saw what many feared was coming: a terrorist attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur, which the UK Home Secretary called “an evil act of antisemitic terrorism.”

Australia: extreme levels for a second year — then the nightmare at Bondi

Australia’s national Jewish security reporting shows the same “new normal” pattern. The ECAJ Report on Anti‑Jewish Incidents in Australia 2025 documents 1,654 incidents from Oct 1, 2024 to Sept 30, 2025, with the report noting that totals remain about three times higher than any year before the post–Oct 7 wave.

Then came a fresh horror: on Dec 14, 2025, the New York Times reported gunmen opened fire at a Jewish holiday celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, killing at least 15 people in what officials described as a targeted antisemitic attack. “Bondi has often been a place where Jews come to be a community together,” said Ms. Haber, 62. “This is our worst nightmare.”

Canada: “record-setting heights”

B’nai Brith Canada reported that 6,219 incidents targeting Jews were recorded in 2024, describing it as the highest number in the history of their audit (dating back to 1982).

Germany: “no decline” — 24 cases per day

Germany’s RIAS annual reporting (published in 2025 for 2024 data) recorded 8,627 antisemitic incidents in 2024, a 77% increase compared to the previous year — averaging 24 documented cases per day. It also states 68% of incidents were related to Israel and the Gaza war, and reports a major increase at universities (from 151 to 450).

France: elevated levels, even when year-over-year dips occur

France’s Interior Ministry reported 646 antisemitic acts in the first half of 2025 — down from the first half of 2024, but still more than double the same period in 2023. And France recorded 1,570 antisemitic acts in 2024 (still near the post–Oct 7 surge level). The point is not “which country is worst.” The point is that multiple countries with modern democratic institutions are reporting numbers that would have been unthinkable not long ago — and Jewish communities are living with it every day.

One of the dirtiest tricks of the age is linguistic. People will say, “I don’t hate Jews — I hate Zionists,” then they proceed to target Jewish students, Jewish institutions, and Jewish neighborhoods. The most chilling shift in 2025 is not just the raw totals. It’s the cultural mood. A society that once would have instantly and unanimously condemned antisemitism now too often argues about whether the Jews “deserved” the threat, or whether the victims were “connected to Israel,” or whether the hate crime label is “political.” It’s a stain that seems to be leaking out of every corner of social media with no end in sight. We stand with the Jews, we stand with the nation of Israel and we pray for the peace of Jerusalem. But we also tell them the truth about what’s still to come.

In the movie ‘Civil War’ that shows a 21st century America ripped apart by insurgents and ideology, we watch as a militia soldier interrogates a group of Liberal journalists, asking each of them one-by-one a question. “What kind of American are you?”, he says. The reply comes back “American”. The soldier then asks “What kind of American?” The entire movie is a fairly mediocre melodrama with the exception of that one scene, that nailed it. What kind of American are you? Let’s find out.
