Atheist Church Launches The ‘Godless Congregation’ Self-Worship Service

The Sunday Assembly describes itself as “a godless congregation that will meet on the first Sunday of every month to hear great talks, sing songs and generally celebrate the wonder of life.”

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19

An idea who time has truly come

We live in what the bible calls the “last days”, otherwise known as the end times. The scripture has warned for nearly 2,000 years that it would be a time of great and open apostasty, where people would be on the throne and not the Holy God of Israel. The “time of the mockers” is here, and for the true believer in Jesus Christ, things are going to get pretty rough.

“Even so, come Lord Jesus” Revelation 22:20

From The Blaze: The concept of an atheist church is certainly a curious one. An ideological movement that rejects the existence of a higher power would generally seem, at least on the surface, to shun houses of worship. However, British comedians Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans recently decided to launch The Sunday Assembly, an atheist church in the United Kingdom that has quickly gained hundreds of members and international attention. Already, the response has been so monumental that church leaders are planning to travel to Scotland for special performances.

athiest-church-sunday-assembly

Originally, Jones and Evans hoped that 50 people would attend the first service in London. Instead, 200 congregants showed up, with this number growing to 300 at the second meeting.

The Sunday Assembly describes itself as “a godless congregation that will meet on the first Sunday of every month to hear great talks, sing songs and generally celebrate the wonder of life.” It provides non-believers with the opportunity to experience church community without buying into God and other related elements that secularists overwhelmingly reject. The church’s success after just one month has been mind-boggling.

Perhaps most striking are the patterns The Sunday Assembly follows, as it uses traditional church practices and adapts them to a non-believing audience. Take, for instance, this recent description from The Guardian:

The Sunday Assembly may be godless, but a churchgoer who stumbled through the wrong door would find much they recognised.

The service opens with a song, led by Evans and an enthusiastic band at the front; instead of a hymn, however, it is “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen (“We’ve chosen something that allows hamming it up to the max”). The service features a reading, a moment of reflective silence, even a collection to pay for the rental of the church, during which people are invited to turn in the pews and greet those sitting beside and behind them. The plan in future is to engage members in community-based good works.

There is also a sermon, of sorts, on the day’s theme of “wonder”, which sees Dr Harry Cliff, a particle physicist from Cambridge, talking about Dirac’s equation predicting antimatter (“the most amazing theory in history”) and the enormous statistical odds against the universe existing in the first place. The congregation then stands to sing Superstition by Stevie Wonder.

“And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” Revelation 9:20,21

The church’s founders believe that they have tapped into something that has gone unsatisfied for quite some time in the non-theist community: The urge for a sense of togetherness. This is a phenomenon in the atheist community that the TheBlaze has analyzed extensively. Examining past events that activists have organized like the Reason Rally and Rock Beyond Belief, it is clear that many non-believers are seeking community and a cohort of others who, like them, reject belief in a higher power.

“It is intended to tap into a feeling of wonder, that atheists have like believers, to challenge beliefs and give you something to think about for the week ahead,” Jones recently explained. “People also love to feel part of something and in a sense you lose that when you lose God. Our view is you don’t need to believe to get that back.”

As the church grows, one wonders whether others will sprout up in Europe and across the globe. As atheists seek community and use theistic blueprints to achieve their goals, they’ll likely be faced with increased scrutiny when it comes to denials that atheism has become a faith system in its own regard.

Tokyo Olympics Open In Japan With Celebrities Singing The Atheist National Anthem ‘Imagine’ Inviting People To Live In A World Without God

John Legend, Keith Urban, and Angélique Kidjo led a version of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s utopian anthem “Imagine” at the Tokyo Olympics, which featured Legend, whose net worth is an estimated $75 million, belting out the line “imagine no possessions.”

This is the dream of all God-rejecting Liberals everywhere, to live in a world unencumbered by the perfect, righteous and holy God who will hold them accountable, and instead invite you to ‘imagine’ a a place where there is no hope of Heaven. That place is called Hell in the Bible, and you better pray that the imagination portrayed in that song does not come true for you. So after 17 months of a global pandemic, the whole world is coming together to imagine living without God.

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.” Jeremiah 18:12 (KJB)

In your King James Bible, the word ‘imagination’ appears 14 times, and in every one of those times it points to the wickedness and evil of the unregenerate human heart. I wonder if John Lennon knew that when he wrote the anti-God atheist national anthem ‘Imagine’? Fun fact, your Not Inspired Version NIV bible removes all 14 instances of the word ‘imagination’, providing only 2 spots with the word ‘imagination’, not matching the King James, and floundering in watered-down meaninglessness.

“Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin’ for today
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one”

John Legend, Keith Urban Lead Singing of ‘Imagine’ at Olympics Opening Ceremony

FROM BREITBART NEWS: The Opening Ceremony kicked off on Friday with several artists participating in a rendition of “Imagine” — which asks listeners to, ironically, imagine there are “no countries.” The Suginami Junior Chorus and Spanish musician Alejandro Sanz were also featured in the number.

Legend, an overtly leftist Hollywood activist, belted out the lyrics, “Imagine no possessions/I wonder if you can/No need for greed or hunger/A brotherhood of man/ Imagine all the people/ Sharing all the world. The multi-millionaire “All of Me” singer, who considered fleeing the U.S. because of former President Trump, is no stranger to the hypocrisy.

Last year, he teamed up with failed Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams for a “Rock the Runoff” get-out-the-vote concert, which featured tickets costing up to $25,000. The climate change hardliner, along with his wife Chrissy Teigen, also took a private jet to perform for Joe Biden’s inaugural event in January. That was not the first time the millionaires took such action.

In February 2020, Legend and Teigen flew 500 miles just for a Valentine’s Day date — an action that would be impossible if Legend lived up to the utopian lyrics he performed in his Olympic rendition of “Imagine.” READ MORE

When you contribute to this fundraising effort, you are helping us to do what the Lord called us to do. The money you send in goes primarily to the overall daily operations of this site. When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. Even all the way to South Africa. We even restarted our weekly radio Bible study on Sunday nights again, thanks to your generous donations. All this is possible because YOU pray for us, YOU support us, and YOU give so we can continue growing.

But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 15,860+ people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 150,000+ followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 15,900 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.

Bible Scholar Joseph Atwill In His Book ‘Caesar’s Messiah’ Argues That Jesus Was A Myth Created By The Romans To Keep The Jews Pacified And Paying Taxes

In his new book ‘Caesar’s Messiah’ bible scholar Joseph Atwill exposes Jesus Christ as a hoax created by the Romans to keep the Jews in Palestine quiet.

Christianity is a baseless religion that was designed by the Roman empire to justify slavery and pacify the citizens, according to controversial Biblical scholar Joseph Atwill.

I usually get in trouble when I am speaking without a filter, so I will say this as charitably as I can. There is not on this earth anywhere a dumber group of people than those select individuals that call themselves ‘bible scholars’. Whenever one of those special people open their mouths, it is a near guarantee that what is about to come out of that mouth is the rank heresy of the educated atheist. With that, let’s say hello to bible scholar Joseph Atwill, he was written an entire book called ‘Caesar’s Messiah’ that “exposes the greatest secret in world history’ that Jesus of Nazareth was a ‘creation of the Roman government’ designed to keep the Jews pacified and paying taxes. 🤔

“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”  2 Peter 3:3-7 (KJV)

The very premise of ‘Caesar’s Messiah’ is so categorically stupid that I almost didn’t want to take the time to write an article refuting it. You don’t argue with people who claim that gravity doesn’t exist, or people who think the earth is flat, why would you want to waste your precious time doing that? But this ‘scholar’ taking a swipe at my Saviour cannot go unanswered, I value far too much the precious Blood that was shed to buy my pardon to not step in and say something.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6,7 (KJV)

So let’s answer a fool according to his folly, shall we? For starters, Atwill conveniently neglects nearly a thousand years of Old Testament prophecies regarding the then-coming Messiah with over 300 prophecies that were fulfilled with 100% accuracy with the birth and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. The vast bulk of that prophecy was written hundreds of years before Rome ever even existed as a world power. Second, there is the personal and first-hand testimony of hundreds of witnesses regarding Jesus and the miracles He performed. Third, if Jesus was simply a “roman creation” would the Roman government then made themselves look so foolish as to allow Him to rise from the dead on the third day? I mean, how hard is it to keep a mythical corpse in a tomb? Yet, Rome had some massive egg on their faces on that first Resurrection Morning.

“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (KJV)

Would the apostles have given their lives for a hoax…would YOU die for something you knew wasn’t true? And even if you would, could you convince dozens of other disciples and apostles to kill themselves for a hoax they knew was a hoax with you? I mean, come on. The only thing that Rome is guilty of inventing is the counterfeit of biblical Christianity known as the Roman Catholic Church. That they did create, and that is certainly a hoax when compared to the Bible.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)

Jesus of Nazareth is most certainly not a hoax, for if He was, the Romans wouldn’t have crucified Him on the cross between two malefactors. Bible scholars like Joseph Atwill are the same bunch that has been trying to steal not only your faith but also your Bible with their endless procession of “new and improved” bible perversions that do nothing but attack the deity, power and authority of Jesus Christ. They constantly drag you to the “hebrew and greek’ to inform you that “a better translation says” blah, blah, blah.

“Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” Ecclesiastes 8:4 (KJV)

So I will say a hearty “no thanks!” to mountains of books produced by the bible scholars, and I will stick with my King James Holy Bible, written at a 6th grade comprehension level and in plain English so that even a non-scholar like me can get a hold of it.  Jesus loves me. this I know, for the BIBLE from Genesis to Revelation tells me so. What a thing, man, what a thing!

Story of Jesus Christ was a HOAX designed to control the people, Biblical scholar claims

FROM THE EXPRESS UK: In a blog on his website Mr Atwill wrote: “Christianity may be considered a religion, but it was actually developed and used as a system of mind control to produce slaves that believed God decreed their slavery.” The scholar argues that at the time, Jewish sects in Palestine were awaiting a ‘warrior Messiah’, which became an increasing problem after the Roman Empire failed to deal with the problem with traditional means.

As Atwill presents in Caesar’s Messiah, the Flavian Roman imperial family created Christianity to pacify the militaristic opposition to their rule. Even more incredibly, they placed a literary satire within the Gospels to mark their handiwork.  This symbolic framework is the hidden history of Western civilization. In his follow-up book, Shakespeare’s Secret Messiah, Atwill shows how this typology was understood and employed by Marlowe and Shakespeare, and what it means for the future of the Christian world. source

As a result, the rulers resorted to psychological warfare which would appear to give the citizens what they wanted, while at the same time making sure they followed their rules.

Mr Atwill added: “They surmised that the way to stop the spread of zealous Jewish missionary activity was to create a competing belief system. That’s when the ‘peaceful’ Messiah story was invented.

“Instead of inspiring warfare, this Messiah urged turn-the-other-cheek pacifism and encouraged Jews to ‘give onto Caesar’ and pay their taxes to Rome.

“Although Christianity can be a comfort to some, it can also be very damaging and repressive, an insidious form of mind control that has led to blind acceptance of serfdom, poverty, and war throughout history.”

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS AND THE BIBLE: STEP THREE BROUGHT ME FACE TO FACE WITH THE LIVING GOD OF THE UNIVERSE

Mr Atwill even goes so far to say that “to this day, especially in the United States, it is used to create support for war in the Middle East”. He says he first discovered this revelation when noticing Jesus is “the only fictional character in literature whose entire life story can be traced to other sources”.

By comparing the New Testament to the ‘War of the Jews’ by Josephus – the sole surviving account of first century Judea – he found the parallels between the two are uncanny.

Mr Atwill: ”What seems to have eluded many scholars is that the sequence of events and locations of Jesus ministry are more or less the same as the sequence of events and locations of the military campaign of Emperor Titus Flavius as described by Josephus.

“This is clear evidence of a deliberately constructed pattern. The biography of Jesus is actually constructed, tip to stern, on prior stories, but especially on the biography of a Roman Caesar.” READ MORE

Stephen Hawking Now Has The Answer To Life’s Most Fundamental Question, But It Came Too Late To Save Him

The belief that heaven or an afterlife awaits us is a “fairy story” for people afraid of death, Stephen Hawking has said. “There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark,” he added.

Professor Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76 – more than 50 years after he was given just two years to live.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” Psalm 14:1 (KJV)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Stephen Hawking was regarded by his peers as the smartest scientist since Albert Einstein, his book entitled A Brief History Of Time sold over 10 million copies. But Stephen Hawking and his celebrated intellect was unable to grasp one simple truth that my kids all had a hold of before the age of 10. That everyone of us are sinners who need a Saviour, and that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah of Israel who paid our sin debt on the cross 2,000 years ago. Ironically, in the same words where he steadfastly denied the very existence of the God of the Bible, he said he was ‘grateful for the grand design’ of the universe. Hmm….any first year art student will tell you that without a Designer there can be no design. Hawking at this very moment is hyper-aware of the reality that God does exist, that Jesus Christ is the only way, and that Heaven is real. But sadly, that information does him no good now. He died in his sins with no one to pay for them but himself. Want to be smarter than the smartest man in the world? Ask Jesus to save you on the basis of His death, burial and resurrection, and when you die, instead of burning in a fiery Hell reserved for the Devil, his angels and the unsaved, you’ll be in Heaven with Jesus. Heaven or Hell? You don’t need a college education to see which one of the those two things is better.

The world’s most celebrated scientist passed away peacefully at his home in Cambridge this morning after a long battle with motor neurone disease, his family has revealed.

His children, Lucy, Robert and Tim said in a statement: ‘We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today. He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years

‘He once said, ‘It would not be much of a universe if it wasn’t home to the people you love.’ We will miss him forever’. They also said their father’s ‘courage, persistence, brilliance and humour inspired people across the world’.

Professor Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963 when he was 21 and he defied medical experts who said he would be dead within two years.

In the following 55 years he became the world’s most famous scientist since Albert Einstein for his work exploring the mysteries of space, time and black holes despite being wheelchair-bound and only able to communicate using a computer and his famous voice synthesizer.

Notable quotes from Stephen Hawking:

  • “We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.”
  • “There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, and science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works.”
  • “We are each free to believe what we want, and it’s my view that the simplest explanation is; there is no god. No one created our universe, and no one directs our fate.” source

Fellow physicist Lawrence Krauss tweeted: ‘‏A star just went out in the cosmos. Stephen Hawking fought and tamed the cosmos bravely for 76 years and taught us all something important about what it truly means to celebrate about being human. I will miss him’.

The belief that heaven or an afterlife awaits us is a “fairy story” for people afraid of death, Stephen Hawking has said.

In a dismissal that underlines his firm rejection of religious comforts, Britain’s most eminent scientist said there was nothing beyond the moment when the brain flickers for the final time.

“I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark,” he added.
