Now Is A Good Time To Learn About Mitt Romney’s Religion Of Mormonism
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. “ Galatians 2
RELATED STORY: What The Mormon Church Won’t Tell You

Ask Mitt if he wears the Mormon "magic underwear"...it's a fair question if you are thinking about electing him as leader of America.
Most of us have had a Mormon Missionary knock at our door. If you have ever invited them in and listened to a presentation of their beliefs, you probably found most but not all of what they said very similar to those beliefs held by Christians.
However, while trying to convince you that your Church is wrong and the Mormon Church is right, there are several points they intentionally leave out. Below is a list of Mormon beliefs the missionaries will be reluctant to tell you about:
|
• |
God was not always God - “We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345) |
|
• |
Jesus and Satan are brothers - “The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind.” (Milton R. Hunter, Gospel Through the Ages, pg.15) |
|
• |
Jesus was a polygamist -”I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children.” (Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses 2:210)
The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were ‘Mormons’”(Jedediah M. Grant, Journal of Discourses, 1:346) |
|
• |
Adam was God - “Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner! When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize this world. He is Michael, the Archangel, the Ancient of Days! about whom holy men have written and spoken–He is our Father, and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do.” (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 1:50)
“I have learned by experience that there is but one God that pertains to this people and he is the god that pertains to this earth–The first man. That first man sent his own son to redeem the world…”(Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses 4:1) |
|
• |
Brigham Young said only polygamists become gods - “The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy.” (Journal of Discourses 11:269) |
|
• |
The bible cannot be trusted - “I believe the Bible as it read when it came from the pen of the original writers. Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph smith, pg.327)
“But the Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that any two of them read alike.” (Orson Pratt, The Seer, pg.213) |
|
• |
You must accept Joseph Smith as a prophet to be saved - “There is “no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. The word “salvation,” used in this context, must really mean “exaltation” because former Mormon apostle Bruce R. McConkie stated in his book Mormon Doctrine that general salvation is given to everyone regardless of belief. Personal salvation or exaltation to the highest form of Mormon heaven comes only by accepting Joseph Smith as a prophet of god and by following the laws of the LDS church.” (Tenth LDS President Joseph Fielding Smith in his book, Doctrines of Salvation) |

Just as the Apocrypha is not considered official correct scripture or doctrine of the broader christian world, so it is with the writings you are quoting here. Not a single one of them comes from a source considered to be scripture or official doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are writings based on ideas and opinions of various persons. They are no more accepted as official doctrine than the Apocrypha is by the Catholics or other Christian denominations.

I agree with what is in the article, but I have to look at all the evidence and I think leaving the Muslim in the White House is a far greater danger. In this case it really is the lesser of two evils. At least with a Mormon we know they teach good morals when it comes to dealing with others. Obama is like Arafat was, he uses the Arab custom of Taqiyya in his dealings with the American people.
well said Dan, “Obama is like Arafat was, he uses the Arab custom of Taqiyya in his dealings with the American people.” Just look at his coming out on gay marriage. perfect example of Taqiyya!

The apostle Paul said that ANYONE who taught a “false gospel” was to be accursed – eternally damned – and that is EXACTLY what Mormonism is…a FALSE gospel.
I certainly agree with #1 Dan. Muslims are out to destroy everything that is not muslims and that includes murdering all infidels (non-muslims). Obama has no morals based on Biblical principles.
On the other hand, Romney certainly is not a believer in the God of the Bible, but they are not murderous towards people outside their cultish beliefs. They also teach good morals; they don’t support abortion or gay marriage.
Hopefully, Jesus will return before the election and we won’t have to be concerned about who to vote for!
I know that is not likely, but I can hope can’t I?

The Mormons also believe Jesus fathered the white race, and Lucifer fathered the black race. Then they explain that is why the blacks have so much trouble in the world: because they are “inherently” evil. What is truly evil is a religion that condemns an entire race! Yes, they raise moral children. But they do not know the Lord, and are not saved. It is truly a false gospel. They are following weak, imperfect men, not God.
I’m thinking you need to REALLY research what the Mormons believe cause you “Heard” wrong. Although I’m inactive in the religion….I never once heard that the blacks were from Satan. That’s not a true statement. You have been lied to and are continue spreading the lie.
And how do you know I don’t know the Lord? You don’t know me. You talk about people condeming a whole race being wrong but don’t you think condeming a whole religion is wrong or are you perfect?

You seem to have missed what I said. I said I agree with the article. I think you are missing the fact that Obama is the more dangerous individual.
As for their gospel I never implied I agreed with any of it. Please don’t read into what I wrote. I’m talking about the future of our “Nation”. I would never go to either one of those faiths to know God. Please take the blinders off, Our Nation is in grave danger! http://danbel.webspawner.com

I don’t know how people can truely accept the concept of mormonism, when all they have to do is read the bible and see that we have a loving God that is our healer, our provider, our protector, our savior. We can’t just pick out the parts of Gods word that fits our need for the present time we have to accept Gods entire word and know that the only way to heaven is to belive in Jesus.God makes it very clear that a blood sacrifice is the only way we can live in heaven, and that was given to us when Jesus died on the cross.I cant see how anyone can belive that joseph smith being a mortal man can belive he is the way to heaven.I guess that in conculsion I must say to the people that belive in the false belief please read your bible and find the truth,if you don’t you will surely very soon find yourself in hell.No matter what Obama says,we are a christian nation. I agree with Dan also. Mormonism is a lie and all who are mormons follow a false God and are in danger of spending eternity in hell if they do not come to Jesus. That being said I will be picking the ” lesser of two evils “come November. I will be voting for Mitt Romney because I’m hoping it will at least postpone America going over the cliff. But I will pray our Lords will be done.

Truly the only comfort for what is occurring in America is Ps 2. Our godless nation desired a king (1 Sam 8:7), and look at the consequences.
Writing in a candidate is the option I choose, as we each must give an account.
I guess most people who look for an answer don’t bother to look too hard. If you examine any religion other than Christianity you will see in their core beliefs that you must work for their definition of Salvation. Through Christ you must ask for it. Obama and Romney are and will remain lost unless they accept the true Christ. Carrie you may be correct about a write in candidate, but you probably already know it won’t make a difference. It really comes down to knowing God and being properly saved, not just some notion of it. God bless

Thanks for the refresher on Mormonism. God help us! The only thing that calms and gives me and my family hope is that, 6-of-one or half-a-dozen of the other, Jesus’ return, the Rapture, is at the door. We know Jesus is Lord of nations and controls history. “Forgetting what’s behind, [we] press onward toward the high upward call of God.”

But what are we to do about this. Romney is the only choice now. They all had some bad qualities to some degree.

Both Romney and Obama are front men for the global elite. Both have connections with Masonry. The general public choses from the two choices offered to us. Our political system, the media and national sovereignty are completely gone. We are far beyond the point of no return. The NWO is into play. The only hope we as Christians have is Christ. Not this world in any sense of the word. We can only wait til the Lord’s return. THIS IS NOT OUR HOME.

Dan agreed.
The Bride of Christ urges repent and believe the gospel to all, refusing to acquiesce to promoters of religious syncretism (“everyone is a Christian”; “jesus love everyone”; and,”your best life now”, etc.).
The world body politic is double-minded; thus, whether the beaten dog mantra “third parties” or a write-in “split the vote,” resulting in a guaranteed second term rests in the hands of God.

Hi to all, we have been in the “End times” since the advent of the Lord Jesus Christ. and now we see an even greater proof of his glorious appearing. ( Hebrews 9:26 / Titus 2:13.) I implore ALL Bible Believing people to humble themselves under the mighty hand of God and ” Liftup your voice like a trumpet…( Isaiah 58:1). If there is to be a great revival in this land, it will only come at the expense of catastrophy. ‘Outside of that, until the Lord returns, we must rescue the lost from this present evil world one by one. Do not expect the carnal, ungodly churches to do this. I seen a church sign recently promoting “beach vollyball”. the time is short….”.RESCUE THE PERISHING, CARE FOR THE DYING. ‘SNATCH THEM IN PITY FROM SIN AND THE GRAVE…..” No one will do this except the Bible Believing child of god.

NTEB Desk is stating facts when it comes to the Mormon Doctrine. I have their books. Joseph Smith’s revised version of the King James Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. Not only did he teach that they would be gods if they followed the teachings of the church, he also taught that the Holy Father [Elohim], Jesus and himself would judge all mankind. Of course that is in direct contradiction to scripture, which states that Jesus will judge everyone. A true prophet by biblical standards is correct 100% of the time. If he is wrong even once he’s not from God. Joseph Smith said that the New Jerusalem would be established in the US. And thats just one thing he got wrong. Lord help those who follow what tickles their ears, instead of following truth. The gate into Salvation is very narrow, and the path to destruction is wide. He told us He was the only way, to follow anything that just comes close is still wrong.

About a day ago, I wrote a rebuttal refuting the false and exaggerated claims made about the LDS church and its doctrines and provided Biblical substantiation for same. I find it disturbing that you allow so many falsehoods to be posted, but will not allow any truth to get through your review process. This tells me a lot about your site and the content you provide. It is also interesting that the contributors and editors of this site believe they are Christians, but reject the true, restored Church of Jesus Christ. It reminds me of how the Pharisees and Sadducees rejected Christ and his message and crucified him. In case you missed my point, you are the Pharisees or Sadducees and the words of Christ to them would also apply to you. Ye strain at a gnat and swallow a camel…

Here is the post that did not go through last time:
This article and many of the comments in this thread show complete ignorance regarding The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (colloquially called the Mormon Church), its doctrine, and the scriptures used by its members. Lets start with the basics. The “Articles of Faith” authored by Joseph Smith describing the beliefs of Christ’s restored church are as follows:
http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,106-1-2-1,FF.html
1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Joseph Smith
——————————————————————–
Moreover, the doctrine of the LDS Church is not a new gospel, but another testament of Jesus Christ and teh Book of Mormon contains of further record of what Christ did when he visited the American Continent. You would think that supposed Christians would be interested in knowing what else Christ did among the “other sheep not of this fold” he spoke of that He must visit.
Regarding whether Mormons are Christians of whether the Book of Mormon is a Christian book. 2nd Nephi 25:26 states:
“And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.”
Further, the Book of Mormon is the most complete account of the mission of Jesus Christ and of his atonement than any other book of scripture and is the companion to the Bible long ago prophesied in the Old Testament:
Ezekiel 37:16-19
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
——————————————————–
Regarding whether men can become Gods through the atonement of Christ and be heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ – Of course! That is also found in the Bible:
Romans 8:14-18
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
———————————————————–
In fact, all of the doctrine that makes the LDS unique and distinct from all other Christian churches can be found in the Bible. There is nothing about the doctrine of the church that cannot be established using the Bible itself as a reference, providing you understand what you are reading.
Further, the version of the Bible used by the LDS church is the King James Bible. It is not a special version. Having said that, there are footnotes with links to clarifications provided by Joseph Smith, but they are separate from the Bible itself.

Colby Clark, you sound very convincing except that you have rejected what the article is about. As stated before I have read your churches books and what Smith and others after him taught is in contradiction to scripture. There is no evidence what soever that the Book of Mormon is based on any facts. None of it has been proven, Period! Joseph Smith taught that plural marriage was from God and if you didn’t follow it you could not be a god. If that were true than your modern church is full of people who will never reach that status. You see if a book is from God it will never change and men can’t come along later and say He told them something different. That is blasphemy and God takes that very serious. Mohammed and Islam, and Charles Taze Russell have done the same thing. Saying God changed His mind and there is new evidence. Good luck with that when you stand before Him, at that time you can repeat that He lied! You can walk around with those blinders but like your church is so fond of saying I ask that you pray to the true God and ask Him for discernment. Jesus was and is the creator, not a spirit brother with Lucifer whom He created. There is no evidence at all of these claims. If you go to damnation it’s on you, but if you bring others with you think of how much worse it will be on judgment day! God is and always was as He is now, He was never a man that my friend is what Budda taught.

If you want facts that prove the Book of Mormon true beyond a shadow of a doubt, go to the following link and obtain the videos mentioned or watch the youtube video. Rod Meldrum proves it true through archeology and DNA (Haplogroup-X in mitochondrial DNA). : http://www.bookofmormonevidence.org/
What you say about plural marriage is partially true, but it is not necessarily all performed in this world. Most of Joseph Smith’s wives were sealed to him posthumously.
The Book of Mormon nor the restored Gospel changes with the times. However, just as the commandments of the Old Testament gave way to the doctrine of Christ and later was lost in the dark ages, God continues to reveal more truth as people progress and are ready for it and takes it away when they fall into wickedness and sin. Later, he restores it again, line upon line and precept upon precept.
God has bestowed and taken away gospel truths time and again throughout the entire history of the world, since the time of Adam. This pattern is not new, nor is the truth given from God to man limited to the Bible and the Book of Mormon. There are undoubtedly countless records that have been lost. Consider how many books or scriptures were left out of the Bible, many of which are referred to in the Bible.
Regarding Mohammed, the scripture in Galatians most likely refers to him. The Qur’an truly is another gospel not of Christ and he stated that an angel of light (claiming to be Gabriel) appeared to him and dictated the words of the Qur’an to him.
I am not her to convince or convert you, just trying to interject a measure of truth among so many misunderstandings, lies, and distortions.
If you want to know the truth about the Book of Mormon, all you have to do is pray about it, as stated in Moroni 10:3-5 and you can know the truth of all things. The Holy Spirit is always there to testify of truth and as many as want to know the truth will be edified:
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how amerciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and bponder it in your chearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would aask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not btrue; and if ye shall ask with a csincere heart, with dreal intent, having efaith in Christ, he will fmanifest the gtruth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may aknow the btruth of all things.

LOL… You completely miss the point! What is described in Galatians has nothing to do with the Book of Mormon! It applies to the Qur’an and other anti-Chritian doctrines.
By your logic it invalidates all books and scriptures contained in the Bible that were written after that passage was written. Moreover, the Bible was not actually a single book until it was compiled many hundreds of years AFTER Christ and his apostles had died. Prior to that, it was a bunch of disparate writings from prophets, most of which were not included in the actual Bible, because it did not meet with the desired content of the canon.
Further, the writings of in the Book of Mormon were written between 600 BC and 400 AD and compiled into 2 books of metal plates. So, it was written contemporary with the Bible and as prophesied in Ezekiel 37:16-19, it is “The Stick of Joseph” and is a second testament of Jesus Christ and his divinity. It does not take away from or in anyway nullify the Bible, but further substantiates it and provides even nor information on the mission of Jesus Christ.
Remember the words of Paul, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” The Bible is one witness. To be true to his own word, would not the Lord provide another?

People say Latter Day Saints gain salvation by works, when faith is all that is required. James 2:14-18 states that both faith and works are required for salvation. Too many say “I’ve been saved!” and leave it at that. Surveys show that the LDS are some of the most giving of people in this country. And that is not JUST to other LDS either.
Also, 5:48 has the Savior stating that we are to be perfect (Greek word means “whole” or “complete”, consult Thayer’s NT Lexicon) which tells me even the Savior, not just His brother James, felt that personal progress is mighty important to where we end up, not just saying it, but doing it.
As to not adding more to scripture, John was referring to his book. Other books were written after the Book of Revelation, like 1, 2, and 3 John. Are they to be rejected because they were written after Revelations? Somehow, I don’t think so.
There was a falling away, an apostasy, in the early church. It is mentioned throughout the NT. 2 Thes. 2:2-3 is probably the most specific, in that, speaking of the coming of the Savior, this wouldn’t happen until an apostasy would occur.
As to polygamy, no LDS remains LDS if they practice polygamy. Yes, it is part of our history. It isn’t now. Abraham, David, Solomon were polygamists and the Lord allowed it then. It isn’t allowed now. Does that mean He changed? No, but there obviously are times when this is called for, and times when it isn’t.
No matter what you think of me, know this, I love you. You are a child of God, even the Savior said that. Hate us if you want, but in my case it is unrequited. God bless you all.

The Quran like the book of Mormon were written after Paul. The books in the Old Testament where what Paul referred to and the books in the New Testament were written before all the Apostles had died. What Joesph Smith wrote was even after Mohammed. I am not in a crusade to harm anyone, but the truth is any of these other books are considered being from cults. A cult is any organization that teaches anything which falls outside of accepted doctrine. Joseph Smith was a false prophet and that is so easy to prove it’s almost laughable. Yes the wrath is coming and people must turn from false doctrine or face it. Mormons teach a gospel of works, Christianity teaches a gospel of Grace only. “Sola Fedi Regula” The Bible is the only Authoritative Voice of God.
“Mormons teach a gospel of works, Christianity teaches a gospel of Grace only.”
Is not Christianity about Christ and his teachings? Well, what did Christ teach? Did he teach “eat, drink, and be merry”, for you can rely on grace to save you?
Christ’s was a gospel of WORKS! Why give commandments if people are not held accountable to them? No, Christ taught, by words and by example, what we are to do in this life. And, he did so through works. Anyone who says otherwise does not know Christ.
Dan, you yourself said above we will be judged by Christ. Well, what is there to judge if we are not held accountable to our “works”?
The truth is, we will all be judged by Jesus Christ, the son of God and our Savior, by our works in this life. We will be held accountable for every minute of our life, not just whether of not we commit sin, but we are commanded to serve our fellow men, which is again, WORKS! Now, given this, one could do all this and still would not be able to be redeemed from the fall without the atonment of Christ. This is where Grace comes in. But, we are still expected to do all we can, aka WORKS. For if one does not do this, he/she is not following the teachings of Christ. If one loves Christ and has faith in him, he/she would keep his commandments. Again, WORKS. Christ’s teachings are all about WORKS and FAITH. But faith, without works, is dead.
So, how can any Christian claim to know Christ and say his is not a gospel of WORKS?
Sorry Todd, wrong again. In the old testment, it was faith and works. In the new testment after Calavary, It’s fatih alone. During the tribulation, it’s faith plus works again. YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE BIBLE (II TIm 2:15). Stop being lazy

There’s so much that needs to be said here. I don’t quite know where to start.
I’m well aware of the quotes mentioned in the article. I think it’s important to note, however, that members of the LDS church believe that even great and wise men are still entitled to an opinion. In that regard, the Journal of Discourses (and other similar reading), while often very interesting, should not be viewed as a reliable source for LDS Doctrine.
The suggestion that Jesus was a polygamist, for example, is mere speculation by a certain few individuals, at best. Maybe he was a polygamist, maybe he wasn’t. Maybe he was married to just one woman, maybe he wasn’t married at all. It is both unfair and incorrect, though, to claim that “Mormon Doctrine” includes any official position on the matter.
I know that misconceptions are easily had. I also know that the frailties of the mortal men and women throughout LDS history can create plenty of opportunities for criticism and question by those not of our faith. More than anything, though, I know that Jesus is the Christ – my Savior and Redeemer. I know that it is through Him and His gospel that we can return to our Heavenly home. Today, as in any day in the past, the Lord sends messengers to guide His children to all truth. Joseph Smith was one of those messengers and has been succeeded by more than a dozen men, called to serve as prophets, seers, and revelators in the Lord’s church. The mission of every one of these men has been to bring souls to Christ.
Much of the criticism that I see centers on distortions and outright misrepresentations. I hope that the honest-in-heart will seek to see through the “noise”, and learn about the beliefs of the LDS church by focusing on those things that we regard as doctrine.

@Dan: Would you agree that your belief about the truth of the Bible distills down to a spiritual witness? The book itself is tangible, but you nor anyone else has “cold, hard proof” that Moses parted the Red Sea, or that Jesus gave sight to the blind, turned water into wine, and eventually atoned for the sins of all mankind. Yet you and I both know that those things actually happened.
I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God the same way that I know the Bible is the word of God: By the power of the Holy Spirit. And just as I know that Abraham was a prophet, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet.
In regards to the “gospel of works”, LDS doctrine teaches that it is through the grace of Christ that we are saved. There is no other salvation than through the grace of Christ. I don’t understand, though, how some who claim to be disciples of Christ can be so dismissive of the importance of “works”. You and I both believe the Bible, right? If you DO believe the Bible to be the word of God, then do you not also believe that “faith without works is dead”?

Colby,
Dan, and others including NTEB, have done a magnificent job in contending for the faith (Jud 3) in light of Gal 1:8-9. Note the reference to any “man” or “angel” being accursed for proclaiming what did not come from the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Word and God (Jhn 1:1), Creator (Gen 1; Rev 4:11); Immanuel (Is 7:14), absolute fulfillment at first advent of that Christ (Mal 3:1; Mt 11:10; Mk 1:2). The LORD is no mere prophet (Mt 11:9, 14:5, 21:26; Mk 11:32; Lk 1:76, 20:6); moreover, Joseph Smith referred to himself as “the second Muhammad”!
Last evening a mountain T-storm knocked out web; thus, my contribution to this conversation was delayed. Colby, I beseech you in the Name above every name and at which every knee shall bow (Is 45:23; Rom 14:11), including Satan and all his minions (Dan 8:10); for there is no other Name given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12, 13:39; 1 Tim 2:5; cf. Mt 1:21).
Recall the rebuke issued by the Lord Jesus Christ to the Pharisees, “And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. (Mt 12:26-29; Mk 3:23; Lk 11:18; REV 12:9)
Mormonism’s founder, Joseph Smith, Jr., established in the 1800s yet another religious bondage (Babel – confusion, see 1 Cor 14:33), he was a diviner, seer, adulterer, polygamist, murderer, and false prophet. Were he not false, where are the golden plates? Is it not convenient, not to mention self-serving, the Moroni had to take them back? “Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel than that which we have preached let him be accursed. If any man preach any other gospel than you have received, let him be accursed.” (Gal 1:8-9) Strong language, why? “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” (John 1:1) = the Lord Jesus Christ God incarnate.
The Book of Abraham is patently false, based upon proper translation of the original papyri, from which Smith created BOA out of whole cloth, by Egyptologist. This is historical fact that came to light in 1966, when the source document for BOA was discovered at NY Museum of Art; and, The Deseret News of Salt Lake City acknowledged its rediscovery in 1967. (Source: http://carm.org/book-abraham-papyri-and-joseph-smith)
It is an egregious error to imagine the Lord Jesus Christ and and satan “spirit brothers,” not only is this blasphemous but a damnable heresy (2 Pet 2:1). As for the angel Moroni:
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” (2 Pet 2:4)
The serpent (Gen 3) first seduced the flesh’s (pride) desire for apotheosis, mankind’s desire to be like god, and Satan (dragon, serpent of old, Destroyer a.k.a. apollyon, abbadon, etc.) persists in deceiving those seduced by such lofty delusion. There is but One God, Triune, equal in Divinity, Omniscience, Omnipotence (Mt 28:18; Rev 19:6), Omnipresence (Rev 3:1).
Far from being pharisees, to warn of the judgment to come is obedience to our Master, Savior, Lord and friend Jesus Christ the King of kings and Lord of lords who shall return as Judge of all who reject Him (Jude 14-15; Rev 19, 22:13). He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and apart from “repent and believe on the gospel” (Mark 1:15) no man shall see God.
The LORD prophesied of false christs, false prophets coming to deceive (Mt 24:24); and, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Cor 11:14-15) Thus, it is crucial to grasp the desperate need every man has to be forgiven and cleansed by the Atoning Blood of the Holy One of Israel and not lend ear to deceivers.
Mormons do not physiologically alter at the cellular level into “real Jews” via baptism. Jewish people are elect of God, and shall always remain so (Jer 31:37) in spite of what many claim today.

Regarding faith vs works, James was quite clear:
James 2:20
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:26
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Like I stated earlier, ALL of the doctrine followed by the LDS that makes us distinct from other Christian religions is found in the Bible. It just so happens that we believe in these doctrines and other Christian religions do not. Why is a mystery to be explored by everyone. All LDS religious beliefs are Biblical based. It just so happens we have further light and knowledge in the Book of Mormon and also have a true and living prophet alive today. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If it existed anciently, it must exist again.
Moreover, how does one show he truly believes in the Lord if not by following Him who he believes in? A driver of a car is the person driving it. The pilot of a plane is the person flying it. Is not a Christian the person observing the commandments of Christ and following in his footsteps. Are not works also important or is it sufficient to believe only, yet break all of the Lord’s commandments and still be sanctified and blessed by Him whose commandments one has forsaken because of the doctrine doctrine of faith WITHOUT works?
You show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works. Consider the following words of the Lord and if works are important:
Matthew 21
28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
If works did not matter, neither son would be required to do anything to be rewarded. That does not ring true.

Somehow there is a misconception in Christiandom that Mormons are not Christian, that we do not believe Christ is diving or that we worship Joseph Smith. All of that is untrue and frankly quite silly.
Christ is the foundation of our religion and we are actually the only church in existence to have named our church after Him whose restored church it is. Our church is called “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” It is the the Lutheran Church, the Catholic Church, the Baptist Church, the Methodist Church, or the church of some entity other than Jesus Christ. It is Christ’s restored church and is the closest church on the earth to what He setup during his earthly ministry.
Of course we believe that Christ is the Savior and Son of God and the only means for man to be saved. We also believe that to follow him, we must obey his words. Somehow this puts us outside the realm of being Christian. Not only is this ironic, it is ludicrous and laughable. How can one serve his master if he does not obey him? Something to think about.
I wish all who believe themselves Christian well. And, it saddens me to see so much division in those who worship the same being. As I stated earlier, “If we are divided, we fall united.” It is time to look past petty bigotry and be united before our God and His Son whom we serve. Let us not judge one another, but let God judge us, who knows our hearts.

I am a Christian, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, and a subscriber to the website Another Voice of Warning [which is where I heard of this blog]. I am voting for Ron Paul, and I expect the Rapture to occur soon if Ron Paul wins the election. Why? that’s a long story best told by going to the website….

Carrie, I must say your post speaks volumes and my hat goes off to you. I find your words full of His wisdom. Thank you.
As for the works issue it has been stated by many Mormons when questioned about salvation of Grace that the individual does what they can and Jesus fills in the rest. That is works! because in essence it says I can earn my way to Paradise. The gospel of grace is very simple. Jesus did it all! Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. You see we aren’t earning our Salvation but by our works we are evidencing it. I have no animosity towards any Mormon, instead I have great concern because of your blindness. We could be brothers and sisters in Christ, but because you follow a different god, we aren’t. As for the parting of the Red Sea it has been proven when they went and looked to this day their are chariots, wheels and all sorts of other things buried where it was parted. Of course modern science doesn’t speak of that much. Because some of us defend our faith you call us bigots, thats a cute ploy. It’s like saying I hate blacks because I find Obama is not the man for our Country. Defend your religion and stop playing childish games. I don’t hate you, I implore you to go to this page and read the article on Salvation which is based on biblical truth.

Dan, I hope you don’t hate others, but your comments sure don’t sound christian. The Savior was harsh to those who thought they were righteous, but weren’t. They were playing a part, an act.
Anathasius, an early church father, stated that he believed that deification was the goal. There were others that thought that. Trying to make the Savior into some kind of etheral combination of Heavenly Father and the Holy Ghost always confused me, as the Savior made a point of proving that He was resurrected with a body of flesh and bones. He DOES look like Heavenly Father, He said so himself in reply to a question from Thomas.
You are so quick to condemn. This is your tragedy and your burden. Personally, I’m content to wait until the final Judgement. If you want nothing from the LDS church, that’s fine. I know I certainly won’t change your mind. But if you truly are “Christian” and serve Him as you maintain, isn’t there room for loving those who believe differently than you? He did. His Atonement saved all mankind from death, if not all from the consequences of their actions, whether they believed in Him or not. That IS by Grace. No, I can’t do enough to save myself. But if I love Him like I say I do, you should be able to tell that being like Him is important to me. Is it important to you?

All of you who want to deny further light and revelation from God, I have a question of you. Did not the Jewish and Israelite people in the OT deny prophets that came among them and tried to help them repent? Yet we believe them now and cherish these prophets, like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Malachi etc. Each generation had revelation given to them for their time. You quote John in Revelations, but where does it say we can’t receive revelation now? In the most pivotal time of mankind’s history, why wouldn’t we be given guidance for OUR time?
Those who are honest at heart, who are open to the truth, think about this. Those who have made up their minds already, the above isn’t for you.
Ok, this is my final try here. You tell me you hope I don’t hate others but I don’t sound Christian. that is just another attempt at trying to deflect the truth of the bible. You say the prophets of the old testament were out of line and I agree, because everyone of them have been proven just. But Joseph Smith has been proven to be a liar. Read the article above that Carrie shared about the book of Abraham.
I have no problem accepting that prophets are still sent from God, but as always the test is weather they are correct 100% of the time. You call Joseph Smith a prophet but he has been proven wrong.
You call me a bigot or a man of hatred because I don’t buy into the false teachings, but really who is the one that has blinders. I have never said people shouldn’t do what Christ taught, but you can’t buy your way into heaven.
It is easy to forget so much in Scripture that points to Christ as God, not another god like J.W.’s teach but God.
In I Cor 10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
You can’t take this and others like it and then come around in 1832 and say He is different. That my friend is calling God a liar. Because weather you like it or not the Bible is God breathed… He will never communicate anything different than what He has already said. Which means what a person [Prophet?} says must backup what has already been told.
In conclusion I keep telling anyone who has read my comments I don’t hate you. Actually I love you enough to speak the truth. You don’t want to hear that, but truth is unless you come to Jesus on His terms only, you are without hope.

Brother Dan
Do not back down, i’m with you. The Bible says “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. “ Galatians 2
Unless i’m just slow, let him be ACCURSED is a pretty Strong word. LET MORMONISM AND ALL OTHER FALSE RELIGIONS BE ACCURSED!!

Small correction; the prophets in the Old Testament were considered wrong, but have been proven correct.
Dan,
One more time. Members of the LDS church do NOT believe they can “buy their way into heaven!” No mortals “works” could ever be good enough to earn salvation. Do you understand what I am saying? Only through faith in Christ can one be saved. Period. Having said this, Christ gave us commandments and if you are a disciple of Christ, you will obey those commandments. You will serve others, AKA WORKS!
If you are correct, what is Christ to judge if not our “works”? If we are not held accountable for what we do on this earth, there would be nothing to judge.
I will give you an analogy of what I believe. Let us equate salvation to passing a class in college. Faith it Christ would be the equivalent of allowing all to “pass the course.” In other words, through faith in him all can be saved. However, I believe there is more to it than just “passing the class”. For example, in a class, people pass with A’s, B’s, C’s, etc. This is where I believe “works” come into play. This is where I believe the judgement of Christ is affixed. Christ gave us commandments, instructions, and an example to follow in this life. He did this for a reason! To judge us according to our obedience to his instruction. But it is not one’s performance in this life that saves, for it is through Christ alone that one can be redeemed from his sins.
I don’t know how I can be anymore clear. So, I hope this at least clears up your assertion that the LDS Church believes they can “buy their way into heaven” through their works. Only through the Grace of Christ can this occur, as you have stated. Then, we will be “judged” by Christ of our obedience (works) to his commandments and teachings.

Todd, you really need to learn how to RIGHTLY DIVIDE your bible (II TIm 2:15). There’s a reason why God tells us in this Dispensation to Follow Paul as he Follows Christ (1 Cor 11:1). You’re a GENTILE. Christ told his diciples strictly not to go to the way of the GENTILEs (Matt 10). God sent the Apostle Paul to us GENTILES (Acts 9:15). We’re saved by grace through faith, NO WORKS AT ALL (Eph 2:8). We WORK because we are saved and love Christ. NOT because if we don’t we’re in bondage to go to hell in anyway.

All of you appear to be missing the point that it doesn’t matter whether a Mormon or Muslim is elected President since both Obama and Romney work for the same global bankers who are ceding U.S. sovereignty to the one world government. Research indicates that both Obama and Romney’s biggest donor is Goldman Sachs. Paul Ryan is also supposedly colluding with Goldman Sachs:
http://www.alternet.org/election-2012/paul-ryan-insider-trading-story-wont-die-because-its-legitimate
The U.S. may very well have already lost its sovereignty which is why Obama is trying to take away American guns and rights. Romney is just another Goldman Sachs prostitute who will finish destroying the U.S.

I read some of the above statements. I am Francis Vessigault, a convert to the LDS Church, or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized on April 6 of the year 1997, and few weeks later became a priest in the lower Aaronic priesthood. Much later on, I was ordained an Elder on March 1, 1998 in the Holy Higher Melchizedek Priesthood and Endowed in the Holy Temple of the Lord on May 22 of the year 1998 before serving a LDS mission in France from 1998 till 2000 AD.
Although I was married in the Temple on June 2, 2001 and despite my divorce, I am keeping my Temple covenants that will allow me to earn and gain the great reward of Exaltation and Eternal Life with Godhood powers because I give all credit to Heavenly Father.
There is dispute as to whether the Lord was married or not. To me, knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ is married in Celestial Glory is important to my faith because the Lord followed Heavenly Father’s example of marriage. If the Lord’s junior Officer in the Priesthood, Earthly Patriarch Adam was married by God the Father in Eden to mother Eve, The LORD Jesus Christ, the Great Jehovah God followed to the letter God the Father’s commandment in taking Mary, Martha and Mary Magdalene as His Eternal Wives.
I will cite a scripture from ST Paul as recorded in 1 Corinthians 11:11 “Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man in the Lord.”
The terminology LORD refers the Lord Jesus Christ who set the example to obey Heavenly Fahter’s law on eternal marriage and commading the prophets and Saints of all ages to do the same.
Apostate christian teachings reject the notion of eternal marriage and the idea of Eternal life based on marriage as practiced by Heavenly Fahter, Jesus, Adam, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…
The bearing of children makes a man and woman a father and mother in mortality and the bearing of spirit children makes a glorified man and glorified woman an Eternal Father and mother in Celestial Glory. Period.
Eternal progression to Godhood is a true doctrine as it involves work, perseverence, struggling and fulfillment and joy. The trials that the Lord Jesus Christ went through and much more, even the Atonement were patterned after what His Father God went through before. That is why Heavenly Fahter and the Savior can comprehend us and our sorrows because They felt these before.
The extreme pain that I Francis Vessigault went through my divorce was felt by the Savior in Gethsemane. As I am faithful to my Temple covenants, I will in time be exalted in Celestial Glory, after finding a Female companion during the Millenium.
I WILL NEVER BE RELEASED AS A FATHER, AS GOD IS TRAINING ME FOR ETERNAL GODHOOD, KINGSHIP.

Wow you have put so much information in your statement that it’s hard to know where to begin. But lets take a look. Gal 1:6-9 “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. “
It is so very important that you understand exactly what that means. I know that you have heard the teaching from missionaries and that in your heart you think God has spoken to you.
“The terminology LORD” is the english translation of the word God.
Aaronic priesthood Old testament Levites from the family of Arron
Melchizedek Priesthood Jesus is the only one! He is the example to us of what Abraham showed when he paid tribute.
Holy Temple of the Lord Only one was in Jerusalem and is going to be rebuilt. As of right now no such place because the Ark of the Covenant isn’t in any building.
When you or any other Mormon state that you will have Godhead powers, you are actually committing blasphemy. You see their is only one God who manifests Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Not an exalted man who became his own god. Budda taught the same thing.
“The LORD Jesus Christ, the Great Jehovah God followed to the letter God the Father’s commandment in taking Mary, Martha and Mary Magdalene as His Eternal Wives.” That is one of the stranger ones. Jesus Himself said that they were in error when they asked about the widow of 7 brothers. Who’s wife would she be? He said you don’t understand because we will be like the Angels neither marrying or giving in Marriage. So you call God a liar when you repeat that message. “Apostate christian teachings reject the notion of eternal marriage” You need to look and see who the true apostate is.
The pain Jesus felt in the garden was in direct relationship that He knew the Father would for those hours on the cross remove His presence from Him. Jesus had yours, mine and everyone else’s sin placed upon Him for 6 hours that day while He was on the cross. It had nothing to do with eternal marriage, but instead eternal Salvation.
My friend I do understand that you want so much to believe but you need to put down Joseph Smiths books and get a true Bible and read the real word. If you go to your grave accepting this false revised gospel you, you put your eternal soul in grave danger. Please go and read the article on Salvation. God bless
