Are We About To Witness The Rise Of Petrus Romanus?

According to the prophecy, the next pope is to be the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman. Some Catholics believe that the next pope on St. Malachy’s...
"In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven- hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End."

“And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” Revelation 16:13,14

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2

Is this man ‘Petrus Romanus’?

RELATED STORY: Pope Benedict Unexpectedly Steps Down

First published in 1595, the prophecies were attributed to St. Malachy by a Benedictine historian named Arnold de Wyon, who recorded them in his book “Lignum Vitæ.” Tradition holds that Malachy had been called to Rome by Pope Innocent II. While there, he experienced the vision of the future popes, including the last one, which he wrote down in a series of cryptic phrases.

Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Archbishop emeritus of Cape Coast (Ghana), was born on 11 October 1948 in Wassaw Nsuta, Ghana.

According to the prophecy, the next pope is to be the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman. Some Catholics believe that the next pope on St. Malachy’s list heralds the beginning of “great apostasy” followed by “great tribulation,” setting the stage for the imminent unfolding of apocalyptic events, something many non-Catholics would agree with.

This would give rise to a false prophet, who according to the book of Revelation leads the world’s religious communities into embracing a political leader known as Antichrist. In recent history, several Catholic priests – some deceased now – have been surprisingly outspoken about what they have seen as this inevitable danger rising from within the ranks of Catholicism as a result of secret satanic “Illuminati-Masonic” influences.

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven- hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.” – Malachy’s Prophecy Of The Last Pope

These priests claim secret knowledge of a multinational power elite and occult hierarchy operating behind supranatural and global political machinations. Within this secret society are sinister false Catholic infiltrators who understand that as the Roman Catholic Church represents one-sixth of the world’s population and over half of all Christians, it is indispensable for controlling future global elements in matters of church and state. The dark forces seek to fulfill a diabolical plan they call “Alta Vendetta,” which is set to assume control of the papacy and to help the False Prophet deceive the world’s faithful (including Catholics) into worshipping Antichrist. As stated by Michael Lake on the front cover, Catholic and evangelical scholars have dreaded this moment for centuries.

Unfortunately, as readers are told, the time to avoid Peter the Roman just ran out. source – WND

(Editor’s Note: We present this to you for your consideration, as it is a widely-discussed story. However, please note that as bible believers, we put our faith only in the prophecies mentioned in God’s word – the Holy Bible – from Genesis to Revelation, and not in the word of man outside of the bible, as was Malachy and the “prophecy” of Petrus Romanus.)

A couple of great vids about this by Gary Stearman and Hal Lindsey. Very informative!

February 11, 2013 5:45 pm

As far as the pope goes read Daniel 11:20-25 explains it all!!

February 11, 2013 5:49 pm

They discuss that passage in depth in the videos…and more.

February 11, 2013 5:52 pm

Didn’t Hal Lindsey predict the return of Christ in 1988. Hmm.

Actually he did Frank I have read his book. Not only did he say Christ would return in 1988 but he also predicted the last seven years to be between 1981-1988.

Just stating the facts. I wouldn’t put to much stock in anyone who sells 100 million copies of anything and makes at least $10 a copy which is a billion dollars on one book then goes on to write more after making false predictions.

Just the facts. We are not to be deceived. Some people may not like it but the information is out there to read.

I put my trust in the bible. Gods word.

February 11, 2013 6:50 pm

Well, I see you’re still stirring the pot, NY. I think those predictions by Hal Lindsey were never preceded by, “thus sayeth the Lord,” or “the Lord told me,” but were couched with, “BECAUSE Israel was reborn in 1948 (a FACT), and IF a Biblical generation is 40-years (a CONJECTURE), then Jesus 2nd coming COULD be in 1988 and that COULD put the time of the Rapture of the Church 7-years before in 1981 (also a CONJECTURE).”

Lighten up NY or you MIGHT be too heavy for that “Sweet Chariot” to pick you up in the Rapture! 😉

Like I said I am just looking out for people. Many people will refuse the truth because it is inconvenient or not what they want to hear.

But the information is out there if your not set in your ways. Do not be deceived. Not a good idea to be set in your ways. The Jews were set in their ways when Jesus came and they crucified him for it. But again with prayer you to may see the light.

Face it, NY, you LIED about what a Brother in Christ, Hal Lindsey, said! Quoting you with emphasis:
“Not only did he say Christ WOULD (a LIE) return in 1988 but he also PREDICTED (another LIE) the last seven years to be between 1981-1988.”

And THEN, you impugn Hal Lindsey’s motives with this vicious accusation:
“Just stating the facts. I wouldn’t put to(sic) much stock in anyone who sells 100 million copies of anything and makes at least $10 a copy which is a billion dollars on one book then goes on to write more after making false predictions.”

Literally MILLIONS of saved people will be eternally grateful to Hal Lindsey for writing his books…including ME, because I was born-again back in 1972 after reading his first book, ‘The Late Great Planet Earth!’ Have YOU made that kind of impact for the Lord’s salvation message?

As outlined in my first reply to your screed about Hal Lindsey: NEVER did he EVER say he was a prophet or speaking prophetically! Just like the rest of us, he was PERSONALLY exercising his freedom in Christ to give his exegesis of Scriptural prophecy.

Are you SURE you are a Christian, NY, because arrogance and spite fairly… Read more »

You are right Frank. I have ALL of Hal Lindsey’s books ,including The Late Great Planet Earth, Planet Earth 2000 A.D., etc. Hal Lindsey has never ever set a date. I’ve read all of his books multiple times. This person does not know what they are talking about. They either misunderstood something, or maybe he quoted someone who was setting dates, or they’re thinking of someone else. I have been following Hal Lindsey since I was a little girl. I have never heard anything about him setting dates. But, there was some guy who started some world church out in California who did set the date of 1988. I think they are confusing Hal with him. Hal Lindsey has a credible reputation. He has never done such a thing.

February 11, 2013 6:18 pm

Been following Hal Lindsay since 1972? got rich off prophecy

February 11, 2013 8:56 pm

Me too. They’re thinking of someone else.

February 11, 2013 8:53 pm

No. You’re thinking of someone else. Hal Lindsey has never set dates. I can’t remember the guy’s name..but I know who you are talking about..and it is NOT Hal Lindsey. It is the guy who started that big world church..again, I can’t remember his name. But trust me when I say it was NOT Hal Lindsey. Hal Lindsey is a credible prophecy scholar, not a date setter.

February 12, 2013 6:55 am

You are thinking of Herbert W. Armstrong. The guy who use to put out the Plain Truth Magazine. Hal Lindsey never set a date but he did come close to doing so,in the book Countdown to Armageddon. Bless his heart that he didn’t.

March 9, 2013 7:51 pm

You are right, it was a man that started a big Church of Christ in Indiana, Forget his name or the church name. He gave out the meaning of each number in the 1988 date saying because of what the numbers did stand for that Christ would return then. Lindsay wrote that Christ “could” return then based on a forty year generation. However a generation can be 40, 80 or 120 years by Bible standards, it depends on which generation is used.

February 11, 2013 6:00 pm

I only believe Bible prophecy…it ALWAYS COMES TO PASS.

February 11, 2013 6:01 pm

February 12, 2013 1:20 am

Thank you. I was going to write something similar. Well said!

February 11, 2013 6:04 pm

Sorry I said God light NTEB, instead of God’s Light.

February 11, 2013 6:19 pm

No one likes people who bring messages they do not want to hear. But again just the truth. No one gets deceived on my watch. Here to help if it means I need to be the bearer of bad news or news you don’t want to here I will at least shed some light on the subject.

usc4life2 is right, our info is in the bible.

February 11, 2013 7:28 pm

Who is being deceived New York? Are you talking about the King James bible or what? And Hal Lindsey is not like all these false prophets, i believe he is truly a man of God. If he did state that or suggest that in a book written in 1969, i am sure he has repented of his sin, like we ALL do when we get something wrong. I am well aware and have been telling people about all these false preachers and scam artist for many years now. I think you need to be very careful when or if you declare some one a false teacher. Remember that God has the final say in who will and will not come to Him…Romans 9. When you say something like no one gets deceived on my watch, it comes across a little boastful, just saying be careful about what you think you know. Many will be saved by God’s Grace at the last minute, by the skin of their teeth and who are we to say someone will or will not be enlivened by the Holy Spirit the last second of their life. Being humble and still telling the STRONG… Read more »

It did not matter is what I meant to say, about who was sitting at the table in 1500 and ? Sorry don’t remember the exact date at this moment. My spelling gets ahead of my typing sometimes or vs a verse a. LOL

February 11, 2013 8:59 pm

I don’t mind truth..but when someone has their facts all messed up, they need corrected. It is ungodly to spread false rumors that are not true about someone else. That is in the Bible… it is wrong to damage someone else’s credibility with such rumors. You need to research that, or write Hal Lindsey personally and ask him about this. I write back and forth with him from time to time..he will answer you back. The Bible commands us to take up a problem with another believer. Instead of spreading potentially damaging rumors..which is a sin…you should be writing him. And when he writes you back, I would love if you would share his reply. In fact, I think I’m going to go write him myself. In the meantime, share no rumors or misunderstandings until you get your facts straight.

February 11, 2013 9:21 pm

My facts are highly accurate. As I have read the books and done the investigation and matched up to Gods word. Again do not take it personally I have just stated facts. You can search these facts yourself our you can argue and cry and scream I am a lunatic that just plain doesn’t agree with what you posted. But again I did not post to attack anyone I just merely put the truthful information out there of which there is evidence for. Up to you to see it as good or bad and you can only do that by seeing the evidence yourself and finding out for yourself. Otherwise your doing what most people do. Believe anything without actually finding out for themselves what is true. Attack away!! God Bless!

Hal Lindsay is a nice man and has fruit.

February 11, 2013 9:52 pm

He made money? You Made money to!!! God gave Hal a heavenly perspective and you must be envious of that? You are transgressing into Gods area. May the Great “I AM” forgive you for self- boasting and i believe envy. Everyone on this planet saved and unsaved, gets what they get from God. Your job, the roof over your head, the food you eat and on and on. When someone is enlivened and the blessed Holy Spirit starts remove the old nature, old man, old self ( A life long thing..Your sin) this is called edification and santifacation. You are still going to sin for all your mortal life. We are brought to the feet of our God through sin ( Does this give you permission to sin…God Forbid, you would ever thing that) Please read the Psalms and get a good perspective on your sin nature. I very sorry that you did not take the time to read what i wrote. I have found over the years from listening to people and through my own flaws that, when someone cant see there own flaws and refuse correction that something is not right in their union with God. Pride goes… Read more »

Frank, you’ve said it all, as it needs to be said to NY. I have felt the need to say it to him myself before, being moved by the Spirit to admonish him about his haughty spirit and his pride being damaging to young Christians seeking answers. He hasn’t listened. Thank you. Your words are kind, loving, and correct. God bless you.

February 28, 2013 8:45 pm

I am so sorry Jody. I missed your comment, it was very kind and uplifting to read a comment from a true ETERNAL Sister in Christ, that I will know for all eternity…..Yes isn’t it so cool knowing that our true brothers and sisters, the one’s that we will be with, not just 60, 70, 80 earthly years BUT all eternity, OUR TRUE FAMILY!!! I am so excited, that God has chosen us to live in this most glorious of times. Again i am so sorry for missing your comment the first time. As I sit here the Holy Spirit has put upon my heart that I found your comment exactly at the prefect time, for it has made my day. God Bless You Jody, my eternal brethren and see you in the clouds shortly. Frank
