Greece said it would close banks on Monday in a bid to prevent its banking system from collapsing after the European Central Bank moved to cap the amount of emergency loans it provides for the country’s cash-strapped lenders.

Greece’s move to avert the threat of a bank run comes amid a dramatic escalation of the country’s debt crisis after Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras surprised European policy makers Friday by calling a Greek referendum on whether to accept the terms of the country’s creditors to unlock badly needed financial aid.

Headed for historic default

Mr. Tsipras’s gambit means Athens will almost certainly default on a €1.54 billion ($1.72 billion) payment it owes the International Monetary Fund on Tuesday. Greece’s international bailout expires the same day, meaning the country would no longer be under the umbrella of an international rescue package. Finance ministers of other eurozone countries rejected Greece’s request for a one-month bailout extension to give it time to hold the referendum.

The ECB said earlier on Sunday that it wouldn’t increase the lifeline of emergency liquidity that has been sustaining Greece’s banks, even as nervous Greek depositors appeared to withdraw their money at a greater pace over the weekend. source

Everything is go going to start to unravel. God’s judgement may be realized through economic meltdown.

I’m surprised the Federal a Reserve hasn’t offered them a bailout, though anything they have received from the IMF came in large part from US taxpayers. As we move toward Sept 13 we can expect to see some major economic shifts.

      • AM

        Why September 13?

        • John

Day of Elul, the end of the Shemitah. Major economic declines followed the last two Eluls in 2001 and 2008. Looks like events are lining up for the same thing this time around. One would think all the Jewish personnel at the Federal Reserve and other Central Banks would see this pattern, understand it, and accept it’s inevitability. Perhaps some do.

          • Mike

Plus the whole thing with the UN voting on Israel/Palestine situation, etc. September is going to be a month to watch more than ever.

          • Heather

            HUGE things happening in September!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. Revelation 6:5-6

      Not yet, but soon.

Friday Scotus rules on Gayle Marriage and the world celebrates. Monday Greece closes it’s banks and the meltdown begins. Not a coincidence.

The US has been on a direct collision course with the judgement of God since 1973. We have been given plenty of time to repent but have instead doubled down on our depravity. We are all guilty. If Daniel felt the need to confess his own sins and those of the children of Israel I hope no one in this hedonistic country thinks they do not share in the sins of our country. Abortion, homosexuality, violence, rampant illegal and prescription drug addiction etc. are owing in great part to the breakdown of the family through foolish marriages, divorces, and alienation within families due to most living/working for things and forsaking God.

God’s perfect plan is defitinely coming together just as His Word says.

It could be that the world economic crash will occur when the Lord comes for His Church. Government funding will certainly nose-dive due to the Christians not being here to contribute to their evil entities.
Poor leaders, how will they survive on less money when they’re always needing more funding to save us. lol I could see how the “world” would follow a “leader” who promises to save them.

As others say, Come Lord Jesus. We trust in Your Word.

    Hold on to your hats.

The timing of the greek bank closings, along with the slap in the face of God by the Supreme court gay marriage ruling, and the positioning of troops throughout America under Jade Helm is no coincidence.

Perhaps we are about to see the fulfillment of David Wilkerson’s prophecy:

It appears like things are unfolding fast this year. So many events are coming together. The ecumenical movement, the coming UN agenda 21 on steroids, and now your country has legalized homosexuality the ramifications of this is huge and I believe many have not sat down to think of them. For us in Christ its exciting but my heart is weary for the billions lost and dont even know it. They have been brainwashed by medias elite they actually assume what they have is reality yet there comes a time when accessing a loaf of bread will be a matter of heaven or hell

Here is another interesting bit of information. On Tuesday, June 30, there is a supposed to be a convergence of Jupiter and Venus. This has not happened since 2000 years ago. Some think that this is the “Star of Bethlehem.” Coincidence? Signs in the Heavens?

The signs are everywhere. Things are moving at lighting speed. The time of Grace will end soon. We need to pray that some will wake up repent and be saved.

      Andrew,

My heart is full for you. God sent Jesus into this sin ravaged and cursed world to save you. I agree that these are scary times but a child of God has nothing to fear because our God will prevail.

If we spend our day looking on the horizontal plane, we can lose hope and end up in despair. But the true, born again child of God has something that no unsaved man has: “The Blessed Hope” (Titus 2:13).
As we look unto Jesus, (Hebrews 12:2)we see that God’s plan is in full operation and we may very well be the generation that will see the return of Jesus Christ. Those who are truly saved will experience what believers in time past have longed for, but if his return is not yet, we still have the hope to keep us from falling.

Andrew, Do you know that you are saved? Have you come to a point in your life where you knew that you are wrong and God is right? (Nehemiah 9:33) God Calls us to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
God loves you in spite of yourself and sent Jesus to suffer and die on the cross so that you could be forgiven from your sin and find peace and hope in this world. He loves you.

      Be well,
      Mike (2 Timothy 1:7)

It is my Biblical understanding that there are just two (2) ways that Christians can view and react to
    – that which is happening in the Biblical hub of Prophecy – ISRAEL
    – that which is happening here in wicked ‘Amerika’, which is not even mentioned in “the word of the LORD”
    – what is happening in Greece – which may be Prophetic
    – and the soon coming ‘events’ in the month of September 2015, which MAY, OR MAY NOT have any real Biblically Prophetic significance –

~1) Be aware that we are indeed living in the very evil days before “the day of the Lord” ~ YET:
    Ҧ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
    (Prov 3:5, KJB)

-2} Be aware that we are indeed living in the very evil days before “the day of the Lord” – AND do what Israel did:
“… every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
    (Judges 21:25, KJB)

My personal choice is to say each and every day ‘Perhaps today dear Lord’ and to LISTEN
    – for I know that one of these days – I know not when – will be ‘The Day’ when:
“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord,
that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
~ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven WITH A SHOUT,
~ with THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL,
~ and WITH THE TRUMP OF GOD:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:
and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
~ Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
    (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18, KJB)
    .

Aleksis Tsipras is NOT the person who ordered the banks to close. The European Central Bank (ECB) gave the order to force people to vote “YES” in the referendum, blaming Tsipras for the closed banks.
