Welcome to the Jewish New Year, and welcome to the start of a regional war with Iran. Things really got rolling to a boiling point just hours ago as French president Emmanuel Macron called for an arms embargo on Israel, resulting in a scathing response from the Jewish leader. Netanyahu is having none of it, but what he is having is a massive military reply to the 200+ ballistic missiles sent over by Iran, with many of them landing on Israel. The powder keg is full, the match has been lit, it’s showtime.

Netanyahu says Israel has a ‘duty and right’ to hit back at Iran over missile attack as Macron calls for arms embargo

FROM THE TIMES OF ISRAEL: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday repeated his promise to strike back against Iran for its ballistic missile attack on Israel earlier in the week, saying it is a right any other country would have. Speaking from the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said: “No country in the world would accept such an attack on its cities and citizens, and Israel won’t either.

“Israel has the duty and the right to defend itself and respond to these attacks — and it will do so.”

The Israel Defense Forces said earlier Saturday the response would be “serious and significant.” Iran’s rocket barrage, the second such attack this year, came amid the war against terror groups Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Iran said it fired the missiles into Israel in response to attacks that killed leaders of Hezbollah, Hamas and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. It referenced Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Revolutionary Guard Gen. Abbas Nilforoushan, both killed in an Israeli airstrike last week in Beirut. It also mentioned Ismail Haniyeh, the former leader of Hamas who was assassinated in Tehran in July in an attack widely attributed to Israel.

The IDF says the missile fire from Iran to Israel is ongoing and that citizens should stay very close to bomb shelters until further notice

It has begun, Iran has fired a minimum of 500 ballistic missiles at Israel, and all citizens have been instructed to follow the orders of Home Front Command and to stay in or very close to bomb shelters. The airports have closed until further notice. Reports are now coming in that missiles have landed and are already doing damage.

Iran launches massive aerial attack on Israel, 500 missiles sent

FROM THE JERUSALEM POST: “You are asked to stay in a protected area until further notice,” the military says in a statement. It adds that explosions heard across the country are interceptions or impacts. Some 500 rockets were launched onto Israel on Tuesday night by Iran, the Jerusalem Post understands, following rocket sirens across the country.

Magen David Adom’s CEO Eli Bin announced that there was a direct hit to a building in north Tel Aviv, on George Weiss street.

Multiple other falls were recorded in Tel Aviv, as well as in Dimona, Nabatim, Hora, Hod Hasharon, Beer Sheva and Rishon Lezion. Video footage from KAN showed falling fragments of interceptors and missiles in the Dead Sea.

Iran has fired missiles from Iran toward Israel. The Israeli military said Iran fired missiles at Israel and air raid sirens sounded across the country. IDF soldiers entered southern Lebanon as part of a ground assault on Monday night as the conflict with Hezbollah continues to escalate, AFP reported.

After a stunning direct hit on Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut last Friday, IDF troops have officially entered into southern Lebanon in their quest to dismantle the complete organization of the terror group. The IDF at 8:39 p.m. Israeli time took additional last-minute concrete measures leading toward an invasion, declaring closed military zones at Metulla, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi. So the question we ask, does this go all the way to the border of Iran? It’s sure starting to look like that from where we sit.

IDF troops invade Lebanon, according to foreign reports

FROM THE JERUSALEM POST: This is the first IDF ground operation in Lebanon since the Second Lebanon War in 2006. This follows earlier reports that Israel notified the US that it intends to launch a limited ground operation into Lebanon that could begin within hours, a US official confirmed to CBS on Monday. Other news sources have reported that an Israeli incursion could come within the coming days. The IDF invasion follows an ongoing pattern of escalation between Hezbollah and the IDF since the start of the Israel-Hamas War.

On Friday, the IDF carried out an airstrike on Hezbollah’s central headquarters, killing former secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah. Previous IDF strikes have killed numerous senior Hezbollah terrorists in recent weeks, including a strike on Beirut that killed at least 16 high-ranking Hezbollah members, including Hezbollah’s Operations Division chief Ibrahim Aliq.

⭕A surface-to-air missile launcher storage facility that Hezbollah had positioned approx. 1.5 km from Beirut’s international airport was dismantled in a precise IDF strike.

This also follows a series of widespread incidents throughout Lebanon and Syria where several communications devices owned by members of Hezbollah, such as pagers and radios, mysteriously exploded, killing several and wounding thousands. Hezbollah and foreign reports accused Israel of being behind the incidents.

Israel steps up attacks on Lebanon, Yemen amid fears of all-out war in Mideast | DW News

Israel is widening its attacks on Iran-backed groups, both inside Lebanon and across the region. On Sunday, Israel’s military said it carried out strikes in Yemen targeting Houthi rebels, hitting sites in the city of Hodeidah on Yemen’s Red Sea coast. At least four people were killed and around 30 others wounded. Dozens of Israeli warplanes took part in the operation. A day earlier, the Houthis fired a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv’s international airport. The group has also repeatedly been attacking Red Sea shipping allegedly linked to Israel.
