Bibles Behind Bars will help Vineyard Transitional Center to open location to house recently released inmates looking for work in Clay County here in Florida

On Tuesday at the Bookstore, we were visited by two men, Pastor John Sanders and Joseph Smith, both of them from the Vineyard Transitional Center in nearby Green Cove Springs here in Florida. They told us of their ministry assisting recently released inmates in providing temporary housing for them while they look for work. They said they were doing a BBQ Pork Butt Fundraiser to help pay for the cost of the construction of the building which is about halfway completed, and would we like to contribute. As I opened my mouth to reply, I could hear the Lord already answering for me. We would help them, yes, but for much more than just BBQ.

“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.” Acts 16:9 (KJB)

With all the work we’ve done over the years through Bibles Behind Bars, all the hundreds of thousands of books, Bibles and tracts we’ve sent out, here is a chance in our own backyard to assist inmates who are no longer behind the bars. They showed us photos of the construction in progress, and it is truly remarkable what is being done. As the 4 of us continued to talk, the Lord showed me plainly how we needed to help them. First, Lori said that we would donate books and Bibles, enough to create a beautiful reading library at VTC.  They were overjoyed by that. Then, I told them we would do a fundraiser through NTEB with the goal of raising $10,000 to help with the construction costs of finishing the Center. That’s the equivalent of buying 250 of the BBQ pork butts from their fundraiser! Honestly, I am hoping we can raise more than that, but reaching that goal would be amazing, and miraculous and wonderful. Come help us to provide this blessing to them.

When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. We have a Gospel Billboard program. We are now broadcasting Bible studies, Podcasts and a Sunday Service 5 times a week, thanks to your generous donations.
