Faith Healer Rod Parsley Turns To Modern Medicine To Battle Cancer

So the next time you are tempted to go to a "healing crusade" and have a millionaire televangelist lay hands on you and heal you, just remember what they do when they get sick. They go to the doctors and the hospitals just like everyone else does. Does God still heal? Absolutely He does. Just not through a phony healing crusade by a powerless faith healer.

If Mr. Parsley really believed he had the apostolic gift of healing, why wouldn’t he go on his own television show and, before a global audience, receive the miraculous healing power from God he claims to have?

“Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” John 4:48 (KJV)

Faith healer and prosperity preacher Rod Parsley has for many years made his living by dramatically laying hands on people, “slaying them” in the spirit and pronouncing them to be “healed” as they fall backwards in comical obedience to his commands. Now, faith healer Parsley has been diagnosed with throat cancer, and he’s doing a strange thing. Instead of having someone in his church with the “anointing” to lay hands on him, or go to another high-profile “healer” like Benny Hinn or Peter Popoff, Rod Parsley is taking radiation treatments at his local hospital.

Look at this ridiculous video from one of his “healing services”, where people fall down like Keystone Cops. What’s not funny about this video is how false teachers with false doctrine deceive people, promise things they can in no way deliver, and end up ruining people’s lives. Why isn’t Rod up there “getting healed”? Hmm…excellent question.

Parsley says this about his treatment: “Whatever medication I take, I stand against any side effects. I say, “This medication will do exactly what God and my doctors purpose it to do, and will harm me in no way.” The Bible says, Mark 16—and I’ve stood on this, “If they drink any deadly thing, it shall not harm them,” meaning whatever comes in to my body to help bring healing will not harm me, for I’m a child of God.”

Now we here at NTEB certainly do wish a speedy and full recovery for Mr. Parsley in his cancer battle, make no mistake about that. But we also wish to point out the true powerlessness of self-proclaimed faith healers, and the damage their false doctrine does to the body of Christ. We do not live in the days of the apostles, and as such, the apostolic gifts of healing do not exist in our present Church Age. This is what the Bible teaches us. Rod Parsley is one of the highest-profile faith healers on television today, and yet he is completely unable to obtain the “miracle healing” he has purported to be able to freely dispense to others since he began in the ministry in 1977.

If Mr. Parsley really believed he had the apostolic gift of healing, why wouldn’t he go on his own television show and, before a global audience, receive the miraculous healing power from God he claims to have? Why doesn’t he invite TD Jakes, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn or any of the others to perform a healing on him while the cameras are rolling? He won’t do that because it would be the end of his ministry, and the end of the ministries of any of his faith healing buddies when they publically failed to heal him.

Rod Parsley — Sow your seed of $54.17 For Victory!

So the next time you are tempted to go to a “healing crusade” and have a millionaire televangelist lay hands on you and heal you, just remember what they do when they get sick. They go to the doctors and the hospitals just like everyone else does. Does God still heal? Absolutely He does. Just not through a phony healing crusade by a powerless faith healer.

Because Rod Parsley is getting medical treatment at a hospital for his cancer, we can conclude the following:

  • Rod Parsley does NOT have the gift of healing
  • Rod Parsley’s church members do NOT have the gift of healing
  • Rod Parsley’s friends in the ministry (Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, etc) do NOT have the gift of healing. If they do, then they are cruel in not healing their friend.

Which leads us to our conclusion:

  • Since neither Rod Parsley, his congregation, nor his ministry peers have the gift of healing, we must conclude that everything that has taken place in their “healing crusades” has been a lie. Let’s just say, as an example, 6 months from now Benny Hinn has another huge “healing crusade”, right? Well, what a tragic joke that would be for Rod Parsley who was denied a healing. Why are not all the modern-day faith healers stepping up to heal their friend Rod? This is what they have been claiming to have to power to do for decades now. So why can’t they do it for Rod?

Think about that. God gave you a brain for a reason.

Get well, Mr. Parsley, and when you do, go back to your church and start preaching the actual gospel. It’s time to get out of the “healing business”.

Whoa, wait a minute! If healing is not for today how do you explain James 5:14-15.

    • James is written to Jews in the time of Jacob’s trouble, the great Tribulation.

      • Don

The bible teaches no such thing that I can see, God used people to preform miracles and healings in the Old Testament also. I have felt virtue leave my body, praying for my mother with cancer, and her 98 percent cancer probabilty was not cancer. I have seen with my own eyes a preacher speaking in tongues (this brought me to Christ 30 years ago) who had already stated that a suicide demon was gripping someone that night, he was praying, began to speak in tongues (this was in a field by our apartments, and the guy was our friend) and said come out in Jesus name, this guy started flipping like a baton , head to ground, feet to ground in miliseconds twirling like a rag doll, all the while a groan emitted from him, Like a movie.

So I disagee whole heartedly with you, with respect.

No where does the bible say the gifts will end. Why would God end the gifts of the Spirit ?

The Bible also says “It Rains on the Just and the Unjust”…Thoughts & Prayers going out to Pastor Parsley <3

          • Grover Syck

Yes, thoughts and prayers. Drop dead.

        • The gifts OBVIOUSLY ended because no one today has them.Rod Parsley is sick because there are no faith healers today. If there were, don’t you think he would go to one and get healed?

Sometimes God wants you to use your BRAIN as well as your faith.

          • jay keen

I have been healed 4 out of 5 times. I went before the decons of my church and they simply laid hands on me, annointed me with oil and prayed. It’s up to God not us. Still love your website please keep up the good work!

          • Don

Don’t you have the gift of dicernment brother ? Even the Holy Spirit is called a Gift. I have the Gifts of the Sprit, God also showed me a vision in 1986, telling me the “Man of Sin is Here” the to prove His vision true (us doubters lol) God showed me a vision of Jimmy Swaggart preaching in a Huge auditorium, to maybe 10 people, within 2 weeks he had fallen from Grace.

And many men of God are taken by sickness for God’s own reasonings, that has no bearing on the Gifts of the Spirit. God has His own timing.

We will agree to disagree. If everyone agreed about everything the world would be boring. God Bless.

Wake up Don. Get a grip on your inner self and start smelling the coffee. Non of the imaginary friends you believed in every existed. Non of the imaginary friends ever came down to earth or went to “heaven”. We Atheists have to fight the battle of survival alone because we are surrounded by idiots who still believe in fairy tales and just never grew up. For goodness sake man!

You really need to watch this!

          • Concerned

Dear Geoffrey. I particularly enjoy almost all of your articles. but this one is careless. You perhaps concentrate on what’s going on in America. Do you really know what’s happening in our continent Africa. Do you know that the gift of healing was more or less suppressed because God operates only through True Sons and True Sons have not emerged for a long time and that is why Creation is groaning for SONS to come forth. The game plan has changed. Right here on our continent the emergence of sons are rising at an alarming rate and the Apostles have come forth. There are many apostles of churches BUT FEW APPOINTED BY CHRIST HIMSELF. We have a few authentic apostles by Christ here back home and signs and wonders are happening at an alarming rate. Healing is evident in large numbers. We cannot penalise Rod Parsley based on him not being healed. That’s God’s business and must not speculate. You sound like Job’s friends. Could be fault Job when he was riddled with calamity. Let some things be dealt with by God. Whatsoever things are pure good and holy, think on those things. Pray for our dear brother and dont attack him. Now is not the time to do that. Have compassion and mercy and let God vindicate if he is wrong.
By the way I dont know Rod personally. Just read some devotions that he wrote

          • Catherine

            Hi Mr. Grider,
The gifts didnt end with the disciples. This is for today as well. God’s word is true.

        • Julie

Sorry, I do not agree. We still have power, through God, to pray for others who are sick and afflicted in order for them to receive healing….from God. We are not the healer, it is God THROUGH us.

        • 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

          That’s when it ended

        • Jeff George

“when the perfect shall come, the part shall cease.” The Word Christh has come and
the part (tongues, healings, etc) shall cease.

        • James

I’m 32… I grew up in a pretty radical Christian church that taught end times and all that stuff. I also hear people speaking in tongues and it was one of the creepiest moments of my life. BUT!! not as creepy as now, when I realize that it is all a huge sham and you sucker yourself into believing such nonsense.

Have you ever heard of Dan Barker? or Matt Dilahunty?? Look these men up. They have changed their minds on religious nonsense that people like you believe in.

I don’t wish to offend you personally, I just think you beliefs are ridiculous. Seriously!

“….the apostolic gifts of healing do not exist in our present Church Age. This is what the Bible teaches us.”

Can you please site chapter and verse?

    • Sure, read this:

    • Heather

The biblical record shows that miracles occurred during particular periods for the specific purpose of authenticating a new message from God. Moses was enabled to perform miracles to authenticate his ministry before Pharaoh (Exodus 4:1-8). Elijah was given miracles to authenticate his ministry before Ahab (1 Kings 17:1; 18:24). The apostles were given miracles to authenticate their ministry before Israel (Acts 4:10, 16).

Jesus’ ministry was also marked by miracles, which the Apostle John calls “signs” (John 2:11). John’s point is that the miracles were proofs of the authenticity of Jesus’ message.

After Jesus’ resurrection, as the Church was being established and the New Testament was being written, the apostles demonstrated “signs” such as tongues and the power to heal. “Tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not” (1 Corinthians 14:22, a verse that plainly says the gift was never intended to edify the church).

The Apostle Paul predicted that the gift of tongues would cease (1 Corinthians 13:8). Here are six proofs that it has already ceased:

      1) The apostles, through whom tongues came, were unique in the history of the church. Once their ministry was accomplished, the need for authenticating signs ceased to exist.

      2) The miracle (or sign) gifts are only mentioned in the earliest epistles, such as 1 Corinthians. Later books, such as Ephesians and Romans, contain detailed passages on the gifts of the Spirit, but the miracle gifts are not mentioned, although Romans does mention the gift of prophecy. The Greek word translated “prophecy” means “speaking forth” and does not necessarily include prediction of the future.

      3) The gift of tongues was a sign to unbelieving Israel that God’s salvation was now available to other nations. See 1 Corinthians 14:21-22 and Isaiah 28:11-12.

      4) Tongues was an inferior gift to prophecy (preaching). Preaching the Word of God edifies believers, whereas tongues does not. Believers are told to seek prophesying over speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:1-3).

      5) History indicates that tongues did cease. Tongues are not mentioned at all by the Post-Apostolic Fathers. Other writers such as Justin Martyr, Origen, Chrysostom, and Augustine considered tongues something that happened only in the earliest days of the Church.

      6) Current observation confirms that the miracle of tongues has ceased. If the gift were still available today, there would be no need for missionaries to attend language school. Missionaries would be able to travel to any country and speak any language fluently, just as the apostles were able to speak in Acts 2. As for the miracle gift of healing, we see in Scripture that healing was associated with the ministry of Jesus and the apostles (Luke 9:1-2). And we see that as the era of the apostles drew to a close, healing, like tongues, became less frequent. The Apostle Paul, who raised Eutychus from the dead (Acts 20:9-12), did not heal Epaphroditus (Philippians 2:25-27), Trophimus (2 Timothy 4:20), Timothy (1 Timothy 5:23), or even himself (2 Corinthians 12:7-9). The reasons for Paul’s “failures to heal” are 1) the gift was never intended to make every Christian well, but to authenticate apostleship; and 2) the authority of the apostles had been sufficiently proved, making further miracles unnecessary.

The reasons stated above are evidence for cessationism. According to 1 Corinthians 13:13-14:1, we would do well to “pursue love,” the greatest gift of all. If we are to desire gifts, we should desire to speak forth the Word of God, that all may be edified.

    • Anneke Barnard

It has never existed and never will. You can heal yourself by the power of your own mind, not with prayers from a book of nonsense directed to a non existing deity.

      • Bruce

Wow! What are you so angry about, there will come a day when you will see Him

  • RC Nice

It’s sad when a fellown christian has cancer and another christian like yourself gets on his case for his believes. Whether you agree with the way he believes or not, you should be praying for him. That’s what a real christian would do, not condemn him. You are showing your spiritual maturity. I assume you go to the doctor when you get sick. If so, if sickness is God’s will, why do you go to the doctor. You are going against God’s will. Your arrogance is showing.

    • Did you just IGNORE the 3 places in my article where I wished Rod well and hoped for a “full and speedy” recovery? Or did you just ignore it because you wanted to? And I never said “sickness is God’s will”, you said that.

      • Steve

Not sure why you think miraculous healing ended.Just because you haven,t been a part of or a witness to healing does not mean it has ended.I know people who have been miraculous cured of cancer and also witnessed a healing concerning a family member.

        • I never said that “miraculous healing has ended”. No where have I ever said those words. But, what I do maintain is that God is no longer using apostles by which to implement that healing. The apostolic gifts are NOT for today, but God healing people miraculously has not stopped. Do you see the difference?

Because Rod Parsley is getting medical treatment at a hospital for his cancer, we can conclude the following:

          – Rod Parsley does NOT have the gift of healing
          – Rod Parsley’s church members do NOT have the gift of healing
          – Rod Parsley’s friends in the ministry (Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, etc) do NOT have the gift of healing. If they do, then they are cruel in not healing their friend.

Which leads us to our conclusion:

          – Since neither Rod Parsley, his congregation, nor his ministry peers have the gift of healing, we must conclude that everything that has taken place in their “healing crusades” has been a lie. Let’s just say, as an example, 6 months from now Benny Hinn has another huge “healing crusade”, right? Well, what a tragic joke that would be for Rod Parsley who was denied a healing.

Think about that. God gave you a brain for a reason.

You wrote,”We do not live in the days of the apostles, and as such, the apostolic gifts of healing do not exist in our present Church Age. This is what the Bible teaches us.” It sounds like you are indicating we, as Christians, are unable to pray for the healing of those that are sick because we are not living back in the days of the apostles.
Perhaps if this is not what you meant, it might have been worded a little differently.

What about another one of the multi-millionaire ‘faith healer’ charlatan blasphemers that could not heal himself??????
            – where was his ‘faith’??????

‘Faith Healer Benny Hinn Is Admitted to Intensive Care For Heart Problems’ – ‘Friendly Atheist’ – March 24, 2015 by Terry Firma
            – Irony alert:
‘Televangelist Benny Hinn was admitted to the intensive care unit in an Orange County, California hospital this weekend after suffering heart problems in Brazil last week. The 63-year-old healing evangelist is expected to make a full recovery, but recognizes that he may have overdone it during a week-long crusade in South America.

“This is a challenge, but I’m getting good reports,” Hinn told Charisma News. “We don’t have all the answers … as we get older, our bodies need repair.” ‘
            – Excerpt from article @

            – “And many FALSE PROPHETS shall rise,
            – and shall DECEIVE many.
            – And because INIQUITY shall abound,
            – the love of many shall WAX COLD.”
            (Matthew 24:11-12, KJB)

How few there are that will read and believe during these ‘last days’ of exponential increases of ‘spiritual confusions, delusions, deceptions, deliberate deceits, and outright lies’ that we are STRONGLY WARNED about by “our beloved brother Paul”:
            ~ [1] THIS KNOW ALSO,
that in the last days perilous times shall come.
[2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
[3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
            [4] Traitors, heady, highminded,
            lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
[5] Having a form of godliness,
            but denying the power thereof:
            ~ FROM SUCH TURN AWAY.
[6] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
[7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
[8] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses,
so do these also resist the truth:
men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
[9] But they shall proceed no further:
for their folly shall be manifest unto all men,
            as theirs also was.
            (2 Timothy, Chapter 3, KJB)

          • Eno

The statements you made in your epistle are highly disturbing. I am both a doctor and Christian and I have seen cases where miraculous healings took place and where medication was needed to achieve healing.

The bible says clearly that the devil has come to steal, kill and destroy, and that God has come to give life and to give it more abundantly. The devil has no power to heal. Only God heals. Therefore anything that has to do with healing and giving life more abundantly comes from God.

            Think about this:
            a) Who made the Cinchona plant or the Qingqhaosu plant from where we get Quinine and Artemisinin which doctors have used to treat malaria in Africa and saved millions of lives in Africa? Was it the devil or God?

            b) Who created the human immune system from which we get total healing of illness and protection from everyday pathogens? I hope you know that even medical treatments need a fully intact immune system to work 100%.

            c) Who gave the knowledge of how to create vaccines which utilize the God-given immune system process to save people from countless diseases that afflict people?

d)The original penicillin which was a medical breakthrough of the 1930s came from a fungus called Penicillum notatum. All antibiotics are created from the basic structure of the beta-lactam and amide bond of penicillin. Who created the fungus? God or the devil? It was by God that all these things were made.

            e) God put Adam to sleep to take his rib to form the woman. It took modern Medicine thousands of years to discover and apply the concept of anesthesia which is still in use today.

I can go on and on. EVERYTHING THAT PERTAINS TO LIFE AND GODLINESS CAME FROM GOD’s DIVINE POWER. (2 Peter 1 v 3). God is the originator of all healing. Some healings come instantly by divine power, some come from medications which came from God’s creations and from His divine knowledge, and that is how it is.

I have seen divine healing without medical intervention. I have seen healing with medication. As a Christian doctor, I am positioned to see both sides of the equation and they all work towards the ultimate purpose of giving life more abundantly. God is the source. Men of God are only channels and therefore God is he one who decides by which of these methods He will convey his healing. Both methods are complementary and not contradictory.

I would ask you Mr Geofrey to go before God and seek revelation about this matter and stop deriding men of God. I got this revelation and it has freed my mind to work as a doctor and a Christian knowing that God’s gift of healing works both ways.

      • Ice

Rc and as the bible states we are to call out False prophets. Sorry I do not know actual scripture off hand but I am sure Geoff does. This is our job as christians to bring awareness to false prophets so they don’t mislead the church which is exactly what Geoff has done. Thank you Geoff

    • Wendy

How do you know that Geoffrey is NOT praying for him?? You’re making assumptions about his motives.
He stated his good will towards the MAN. it’s his MINISTRY that is concerning.
A Watchman of the Lord, which Geoffrey is, is COMPELLED to tell others the truth in the form of warning.
I assume that you are a person who would prefer to not be deceived. Do you wish others to be??

  • Yes, Rod Parsley has taught some erroneous things that have definitely had a bad effect on the church and I am not a fan of his in any way. But, as for the comment in this article and I quote, “We do not live in the days of the apostles, and as such, the apostolic gifts of healing do not exist in our present Church Age. This is what the Bible teaches us.” This is just as false a statement as some that Rod Parsely may have made. Let me explain. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the gifts of healing have stopped or would stop with the Apostolic age! Quite the contrary actually. God is still healing those that believe that he can and will! The problem with those that believe this doctrine of no miracles for today is that God is not going to work in the midst of those that don’t believe he can and does! I have personally witnessed many miracles of healing in my body and my family and church family. In 1966 I was miraculously healed of seizures after my preacher grandfather prayed for me. In 1981 my wife was instantly and totally healed of rheumatic fever as she lay on her bed after she was prayed for by her father. Again, my mother was totally and completely healed of blindness in 2009 after her bother layed hands on her and prayed for her in her home. I could go on and on about personal, first hand knowledge of healings that have occurred! This doctrine of miracles, signs, & wonders passing away with the apostles is a doctrine that was made up yrs ago by Baptists who either did not have or did not want anyone else to have what God promised to his church as long as the church is here on earth. It is neither historically or Biblically correct!i challenge anyone to prove in scripture that these gifts have “passed” away with the disciples.

    • God can heal us since he formed us in our mothers womb(Psalm 139), but I have yet to meet a man with healing gifts in all 47 of my years. One thing I do know, is that false prophets abound, as we were warned time and time again by Jesus and Paul. See the scriptures:

    • Char

Amen, Chuck! You are correct! I’ve seen miracle healings too. “Christians” that don’t believe in healing for today are just missing out on ALL of God’s blessings and knowledge. I guess they think that God said you can only have SOME of the gifts of the Spirit, not all of them for today. Sad.

      • trisha

        Chuck and Char:
Re-read what he wrote. Do you understand the difference between the gift of healing vs. incidents of healing that occur from time to time? The gift of healing healed entire areas of people, altogether different from today.

    • Rhonda

Praying for others’ healing depends on that person’s faith also. It is faith in Jesus, our Healer that heals us. Because we are human, we don’t always have enough faith. Perhaps Parsley had enough faith for others but not for himself.

Paul said in II Corinthians chapter 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

    • Marylynn

Amen, Chuck, I could not agree with you more. The only thing I could add would be my own testimonies of miraculous healings I have witnessed, prayed for, and received myself throughout the years since I came to know our all-powerful, all-loving, ever-present (in us and with us) LORD in 1998. For the very life of me, I cannot understand HOW the Word gets so twisted as to be ineffectual; but perhaps even more astonishingly, I can’t comprehend WHY man works so hard to dilute it. You know, “dilute” isn’t even the right word: “eviscerate” it is, (Mark 7:13) making it of none effect through their traditions. Oh, how I pray for Christians to open their hearts and realize what God will do for them if they’ll just give Him that opportunity! Thank you for sharing your faith.

    • Chuck you are right God is the same yesterday today and for evermore he still performs miracles and i have seen lots of it with my own eyes my mother had an accident with internal bleeding, she was unconscious when they brought her to the hospital God helped her regain her consciousness she told the doctor not to minister any thing to her she was taken back at home and the ministers of God anointed her and prayed for her she was healed and also her right hand that was broken was healed as well.God has healed me so many times Geoffery please you err when you cherry pick scriptures i donot watch Rod neither do i favor most of his teachings but God still heals even today and the book of James also applies to us as well if the blood of Jesus is able to save us from our sins and we live you new life don’t you believe that that same blood is powerful to heal us may the Lord give you an understanding of the scripture in Jesus name please do not put God in a box for he is able to do exceedingly abundantly than what we ask or think God bless you

  • laura

This is sick. I have not studied Rod Parsley personally to know if he is of the Word of Faith sect. That is a non-Christian sect falsely protraying itself to be Spirit-filled. It’s false doctrine of salvation and who Jesus is outside of biblical faith… and many of these are “on television”. But, I have not studied Rod Parsley in particular.

What you are doing is attacking ALL SPIRIT-FILLED CHRISTIANS!!

This legalistic heresy that the Holy Spirit is not for today… that JESUS has changed… that JESUS does not have the same power today in the saints He had 2000 years ago… it’s ridiculous.

You can try to say that JESUS CHRIST and HIS BLOOD have lost their power… but you are a liar!!

The SAME SPIRIT that raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in us.

No Christian who comes against the Holy Spirit will take part in the endtime move or escape tribulation.

Knowing there is an escape doesn’t mean you will escape.

What Rod Parsley is in his faith… I don’t know. I did see him do a tape against the NWO and Federal Reserve exposing that evil system. So, that says something for him… but I don’t know more about him personally.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself in your attack of the Holy Spirit.

If you think the Holy Spirit is going to usher you out of escape from tribulation… honey, it’s only through apostolic anointing through the apostle He has sent… me.

And you’re not going to make it with your present attitude.

    Laura Lee
Apostle of the Church of Philadelphia

    • If faith healing is for today, then why does Mr. Parsley not have an apostolic healing for his cancer? The actual apostles had NO problems healing someone on the spot.

No, this article PROVES that no one has the gift of healing as the apostles did, and neither should they. Signs are for the Jews, as the Bible says.

The fact that neither Rod Parsley, any of his church people, or any of his high-profile faith healer friends can heal him should be telling you something. No?

      • Tusitala

I have a question regarding the apostles being able to heal on the spot. I remember that there were a couple of instances where Paul did not heal people, Trophimus whom he left sick at Miletum and Timothy to whom he simply gave dietary advice for his stomach troubles. Paul was the greatest apostle and now I am confused about this. Could Paul have healed them but chose not to or could he not heal them at all? It is difficult for me to believe that he could not heal them, but why would he not? I find this discussion spirited but a bit intimidating, everyone is so sure that they are correct. I keep going back to my King James…!!

        • Excellent question! Here is your answer: Paul, being the last apostle, absolutely had the apostolic gifts of healing. In Acts 20 he raises Eutychus from the dead. That’s proof that he had the power from God. But, as you point out, towards the end of his ministry, he is unable to heal his closest friends like Timothy and Trophimus. Why? Because the apostolic powers were of a limited duration. They were there as a proof to the Jews (Jews require a sign) that the apostles were commissioned by Jesus. But when the work they were chosen to do was done, those apostolic gifts were withdrawn as the Bible obviously shows.

Throughout the centuries, many Christians have claimed to have those powers. There is a woman named Laura who started commenting here lately whose website says that she is an “apostle” of the Philadelphia Church. (She also says that the Tribulation started on 9/30/15, but that’s another story.) She CLAIMS the apostolic gifts, like Parsley, Hinn, Dollar and all the rest do – BUT – when push comes to shove they come up empty. It is the easiest thing in the world to stage a phony “healing crusade”, and sprinkle people with oil and make them “fall backwards” (a sign of the Devil). But when they themselves get deadly sick, neither they nor ANY of their faith healing friends can cure them. Why is that?

Because they are fakers who do NOT have the apostolic gifts.

          • Tusitala

Thank you for the explanation, I am understanding this all much better. I am very careful what I put stock in because of having been Catholic and being taught to blindly believe or else, as you well know. I did note the website you speak of, but I did not examine it because of what the Bible considers an inappropriate role for a woman in the church. I stick with the King James and listen to a very few brothers in Christ like yourself who stay to the Word. Even then, I have become a Berean and pore over the scriptures. I steer far clear of the faith healers, “These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.” Jude 1:12-13 … Or words to that effect…

          • Bro. Nick

Another thing that ALWAYS needs to be remembered by those that truly and literally believe “the certainty of the words of truth” – it is always the sovereign will of “the Lord God Almighty” whom HE will heal ~ AND whom HE will not heal.
How often do those who read “the word of the Lord” remember what the Apostle Paul wrote of himself:
[5] Of such an one will I glory:
yet of myself I will not glory,
[6] For though I would desire to glory,
            I SHALL NOT BE a fool;
            but now I forbear,
lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be,
or that he heareth of me.
the messenger of Satan TO BUFFET ME,
            (2 Corinthians, Chapter 12, KJB)

AND – the ratio of physical births and physical deaths is 1:1

            – CAPITALization of “the word of the Lord” is for emphasis – Bro. Nick

      To Apostle Laura Lee,

      Just one question to you,

Why is it that Jesus did not have any “Apostlettes”?

All the apostles in the new testament (“the twelve”) and Paul and those he identified as apostles who ministered along side him were men.

Please explain this instruction from the Apostle Paul:

“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence” (1 Timothy 2:12)

and one more thought….Why are the bishops and deacons to be “husbands of one wife”? (1 Timothy 3)

  • You have got me FIRED UP!!

You are no different from the antichrist pope who declared that the life of Jesus, His blood, and the cross ended in FAILURE!

    • Paul

“honey, it’s only through apostolic anointing through the apostle He has sent… me.”
THIS is a quote from Lauras’ blog!
Laura, are you saying you were especially SENT to us by Christ? WOW!
You may now be silent (stop preaching) as women are not permitted. Thanks in advance

    • A Friend

But you didn’t answer the question!!!!!

  • RG

    Dear Greg,

Every time my faith gets restored in you after reading some of your seemingly awesome articles, you write something so horribly false and judgmental. I thank God for the grace to recognize the mistakes I’ve been able to recognize, so as to remind me I can’t trust your teachings because although you possess a gift of writing and a well of knowledge, self righteousness frequently gets in the way. I don’t mean to judge you; I’m not perfect either. But I wish you would separate your opinion from fact. Every time you claim your beliefs (that are up for dispute v. essential doctrine of the Bible) to be absolute truths, you do exactly what you criticize others of doing. Why don’t you submit your opinions to your readers’ discernment, rather than pontificate. I have witnessed the gifts of the Holy Spirit being alive for 30 years. All you have to do is ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fill you with His gifts, and He will. But first please ask Him for humility so He can more fully be your Lord and truly be the Lord of your webiste. We are all growing. I want to be pure too. So No condemnation is meant. … As regards to why Rod hasn’t yet been miraculously healed: We don’t control the gifts of the Spirit, for we aren’t God. … I adjure you, please stop grieving the Body of Christ. Reading your website has so frequently grieved my spirit and by grace my spirit is in Christ. We are all supposed to be on the same team.

    • But we are not all “on the same team”, are we? When you have FAKERS like Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley, Creflo Dollar and all the others, we are certainly not all on the “same team”. Since 2010, I have issued a challenge through this site for ANYONE to show me the apostolic gift of healing. Not in a church, not in a stadium, but in a HOSPITAL where all the actually sick people are. Not ONE brave soul has stepped up to take that challenge. Not one.

But you do not see “faith healers” at the hospital for precisely the same reason you never see psychics win the lottery. Hmm…

  • patricia s

    Another fine article!
To Laura: You seem to be confused… If a Christian believes God worked differently in the various dispensations, that- in no way- is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, the blood of Jesus,or calling the crucifixion a failure, etc. This was an honest and frank critique! How do you jump from that to saying the author “attacked all spirit-filled Christians”? Aren’t we allowed to disagree? And what on earth is a Christian if they aren’t “spirit filled”? And who are you to claim that God will make the author face the Tribulation? How very arrogant.
I agree with the author. If this man has spent 40 years preaching it is God’s will to heal everybody, of all things, at all times– which is ridiculous, deceptive, and harmful to those weak in faith– he needs to be called out. These frauds need to be dealt with, and are part of the apostasy.

    • edwitness

      Very good Patricia s,
My sentiments exactly. There are healings to be sure. But, they are the result of God’s will, yea or nay, in each situation. Not someone with the apostolic gift. Calling these men out as the charlatans they are is very Biblical. I too pray for a quick recovery and a new heart of repentance for Rod.
      Thanks Goeffrey.

Calm down, people. Can’t you see that someone who goes in front of a television audience to heal people, then takes a different route for his own healing should raise eyebrows?

I have no doubt that God heals people without doctors, as I personally know folks who have had that experience… but not as part of a TV spectacle.

If you don’t get that many public figures are money-grubbing hypocrites, well… I guess that’s why so many money-grubbers get on TV and perform.

    Faith-healer, heal thyself.

    • Elaine

      Amen, and thank you!

    • They can’t heal themselves or anyone else, and their followers get mad when you point that FACT out. Think of what an AWESOME moment this is for Parsley to show the world he has the gift. To immediately heal an actual, diagnosed and verified case of cancer.

But…he can’t. And he never could.

      • Karen

They don’t claim to heal themselves, they claim the Holy Spirit does the healing. My friend lays hands on people and annoints them with oil, and a lot of them get their healing, but some don’t. She never takes the glory, but always says, “We will see what God will do.” Maybe it is not God’s will for Rod Parsley to heal or at least not in that way. Some heal miraculously and some are led to medicine. God’s ways are not our ways. If we believe that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, then we can believe where the Bible says to call the elders of the church to annoint you with oil, lay hands on you and pray to receive healing, but it is still up to God. We are supposed to believe. Otherwise, why would you even bother to pray for healing for your sick mother or child.
Jesus told his disciples that he was imparting his gifts on them. If we are disciples, the same holds true. We have to believe . . . and then see what God will do.

  • Jim Smalley

You know your Bible but seem to leave out 1 John the command to love brother in Christ!

    • I don’t follow. My article wishes Mr. Parsley well multiple times. But does “loving our brother” also include turning a blind eye to obviously false teachings?

      • Heather

A huge Amen Geoffrey! I applaud your courage dear Brother!

    • Jim – if you do not confront someone’s sins, especially sin that involves lies to other believers, then you are not loving them. Love involves helping get people away from sin, to the blood of the Jesus Christ of the Bible…because and eternity in hell awaits those who remain in their sin.

  • kiwiwatcher

Dont know dear Mr Parsley personally, but I missed something in the original post, which hospital was he working at?

  • Audrey Burns

As someone who has been supernaturally healed, I have also been healed through medication and surgery. God heals through a whole range of methods. I am sure that Pastor Parsley is using every possible means to receive his healing and there is nothing wrong with that.

    • And I do not doubt that God did heal you supernaturally – but – it was not at the hands of some “apostle”.

  • Marian

I John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God.

    Love and truth are inseparable.

  • Washedintheblood

I hate cancer. Seems like a plaque of our time, I am not sure if this is the correct word to use. Pastor Parsley has a trial to face. May the Lord heal him. I understand Grider is an dispensational preacher. I also know the big names on TV have more than a million dollars easily. They lay burdens on people that are too heavy to bear. They are always needing money yet live in mansions and drive expensive cars. Why don’t they sell what they do not need and live like most of their congregation. Back to healing, Grider states God still heals but you do not need a “faith healer” to heal you. God works with doctor’s and prayer but we should also ask believers of Christ to pray for our healing. I will not give my money or faith away to lavish living TV evangelists. Jesus is not for sale.

    • I was diagnosed with skin cancer a few months ago, and I went to the doctor and had an operation like everyone else does. I was cured of my cancer, and I give God all the credit for it I believe He worked through doctors to heal me. God allowed me to have the money to buy health insurance. God guided the hands of the surgeon. God did it all. The Bible clearly shows that the apostolic gifts were for the APOSTLES only. Lots of people CLAIM to have them, as we see all these televangelists claiming to heal people.

But when the faith healers get sick, they ALWAYS go to the doctor. Why is that?

      • washedintheblood

Geoffrey, yes the Lord healed you. All glory to Him. I have attended MANY of the popular TV preachers meetings when they were not yet household names. I know that they have no gifts more than what every believer has from Christ. A church pastor and believers can all pray and ask God to heal. I will never counsel anyone not to trust in God to move in medicine and doctors. This is one of the heavy burdens faith healers put on believers along with prosperity living. What a burden on people. To live up to what these men and women put onto others is not biblical. I know I have tried to live up to their teaching and find it is not true. I love Christ Jesus and trust Him and not any man or women that is famous on TV or any place else.

  • I want to take a minute to express my thanks to the work that goes into this web site and the prophet info that I have gotten from this brothers site. there are things on here news wise that are very informative and most of it, as for as the prophecy is concerned is right on target! The soon coming of the Lord is at hand and this world as we know it is gettinng redy to see some major changes. But concerning the isssue at hand, I know people, including preachers, that seem to have a “blind spot” when it comes to issues that others see plainly. there is no one reading or commenting on here that has absolute perfect knowledge of God’s Word! A man is a fool that would make that claim!
With that said, just keep in mind people. A man with an experience is not at the mercy of a man with an argument! Just because their is a dozen men on TV preaching an apostate doctrine, does not take away from the real, true gifts of God’s Spirit. I have been preaching over 30 yrs and have seen God perform numerous instantaneous healings for many people. Some are even documented by the medical world. No they weren’t done in front of the TV crowd but usually in a private or church setting. For those who refuse to believe in modern day healing, it is their loss! As for Mr. Parsley’s illness, we cannot put God in a box and say that because he has not been healed that he has no faith or healing is not for today. God’s ways are so much higher than ours and we only frustrate ourselves and others by trying to totally figure out all his ways. There are some things we will never know the answers to. As a preacher with an experience in this area, they have come to late to tell me that God’s not still working miracles for those who will believe him for them!

  • RC Nice

You want to blast someone you disagree with and make fun of their beliefs, and then wish him well. Again, your love and concern shows through your disdain for anyone who disagrees with how you believe. Your theology is totally wrong. You are lacking in love and compassion, two things Jesus said that were more important than anything. Does God still heal, yes, do we all receive our healing, no not always. Does everyone get saved when we pray. No. Your sudden change of heart concerning Parsley does not change the fact your article is very harsh and rude. The man has cancer and could die, all all you want is to prove yourself right. What a shame.

    • washedintheblood

RC Nice, to me the point is many, many and many more are looking to men and women for health, wealth and riches. I know because every name Grider named I have personally been in their teachings along with others not named. They run in each others circles. They write books based on God’s word and make millions and live that way while I work a fulltime job to support myself and they want my money and yours to support them. The Apostle Paul was truly gifted and called by God with healing but he NEVER lived like these people. He loved the people and would not fleece them.

Although I’m not a big fan of Rod Parsley I do know my God still heals. Be it by faith or medicine. This article as also some of your recent articles have left me somewhat numb. I find it hard to continue reading this type of material. So please remove me from your mailing list. I will be praying for you.

  • Leess

I was healed of stage 4 cancer 25 years ago. My pastore told me that healings did not happen anymore. I told him that I believed that GOD could do anything he wanted. I told him to do as it says in the book of James. He held a special service called all the eldrers to lay hands on me,and pray, annointed me with oil, everyone was confessing their sins to one another. The Dr.s had told my family there was nothing left to do. I was 33 years old. My pastore went to the hospital with me the next day for surgery. I will never forget when i woke up, my patore was holding my arm,up and saying “The cancer is gone” That is his testimony now. Previously to that i had over 6 surgeries. That was 25 years ago, never had cancer again. I went to a new Dr. A few months ago, he looked at my medical report, then looked at me, he said that i should not be here right now. JESUS healed me. He does heal today! Praise His Mighty Name!

    • I was healed in exactly the same way…hep c,stage 3 cirrhosis, aneurysm, brain tumor,& now have something else I have to call on them for…but it works! all you have to do is exactly what it says,& BELIEVE!UNWAVERING,& WITHOUT DOUBT!!!

  • washedintheblood

Geoffrey, KEEP warning the people that no man can make claims and not back them up. Jesus had much to say to people laying burdens on ordinary everyday God fearing people. I have seen truly God loving people hurt deeply by pastors and evangelists telling them it was their faith not working. I just counseled and prayed with a woman with hives everywhere on her because she needed meds daily and believed her faith failed her. My heart breaks for her and others that believe if only…. whatever they think would give them a better result. Jesus will sustain us everyday but it is not by men or women that place themselves above us.

    • Thank you 🙂 We sure will, as the Lord gives us power to do so.

  • Esther Graaham

Sorry to say but you are blinded. None of these servants of God claim to heal people. They claim to be vessels used of God and it is our blessed Saviour that does the healing and yes it can be through the miraculous healing of Jesus, through medication or surgery. But in the end He has the last say and there are great men of God every day that go home to be with Him because of sickness. So in the end they received heir healing – its just that simple. Stop trying to be an expert in every area of life – only God has the answers – you do not. Every time you are so negative
you loose a blessing and put down a fellow Christian that needs to be lifted up. You and only God know what you harbor in your heart trying to sort through so many of these issues. It is not healthy!!

  • Valarie

so – i had NO clue he was ill sad to hear this however —
to carry on and become as huge lying on JESUS – has – consequences i pray – souls wake up- this clears UP for me – what i understood years ago – watching so called christian tv-
JESUS told me ——————–turn it off – come to me, now i see why
to Obey GOD is far better than sacrifices! I pray souls wake up to JESUS and how
he wants US to come to him- and abandon traditions of men. this is a sad object lesson From GOD’S gracious Hands. i pray mr Rod wake up !

  • Char

What about Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Notice it says we ARE healed, not we WERE healed (when the apostles prayed only). It’s just a shame that some people just don’t get it and probably never will, so they will stay blind to this gift and will NEVER be healed for their lack of faith because they are hung up on wanting to see a spectacular healing on TV. God is in the healing business, not in the entertainment business.

    • WHen the Bible says that we are “healed by His stripes”, it is talking about the healing of our souls by saving us through His shed blood. It’s an eternal healing He gave us. It has nothing to do with getting sick in our bodies while we live on Earth. Our bodies get put in the trash, anyway, but our souls live forever.

  • RG

    Amen. Good Reply.

  • RG

  • Roberto

I pray that he gets better, just like I would pray for anyone else, cause we do not rejoice that people suffer and are sick and so forth…BUT may be NOW he will understand how sad and disappointed and depressed are THE SICK that he PRETEND TO HEAL with his shamanism and clown stuff that he is being doing all those years FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Amen, I agree with both your points. Wouldn’t it be GREAT if as he goes through his healing process with radiation at the hospital, that something would click in his head and convict him of all the fraud he has done with all his obviously phony “faith healing”…and become a real preacher of the actual gospel?

      Now THAT would be a…miracle.

  • Char

Disagree, Geoffrey, I know you don’t believe in the healing power of the Lord in this day. That’s your prerogative, so you just keep believing the way you do and never get healed. That’s okay with me. God loves us both! It has nothing to do with Rod Parsley or his beliefs either. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

    • Why would you tell a lie like that? I never said those things. God healed me last month from cancer! I absolutely, 100% believe with all my heart that God is still healing people today. What I am equally positive of is that people like Rod Parsley, TD Jakes, Peter Popoff and all the rest are fakes and phonies. Why are NONE of them stepping up to lay hands on Rod and heal him? Not a single one of them. Why not?

  • I’ve been miraculously healed using those exact verses, hep c..gone,stage 3 cirrhosis…gone,& not a trace of scarring,aneurysm..poof…gone,brain tumor…just like aneurysm…missing on 2nd MRI….but it wasn’t a faith healing like on tv…i was led to read the verses by The Holy Spirit, then i went by faith to my pastor each time & CALLED on the elders to lay hands on me…it doesn’t say anything about a preacher laying hands on you & shoving you to the floor…I followed exactly what the Bible said, believing, not wavering, but in faith…& I got what I needed…& I have the medical records to back up everything that happened & docs couldn’t explain

    • joyce lamaster

God is real his word is real so dont lose faith Jesus is with us he will never leave us nor forsake us…when we are weak he is strong….I be
live ….by Jesus stripes we are healed ,,,I belive in healing and I stand on Gods word for healing for Rod Parsley he is a man after Gods heart and Jesus loves him….

  • Geoffrey,
    Please read Smith wigglesworth’s
Book on healing. God asks in his word when he returns will I find Faith in the world? Put off your unbelief. God will not put on a show for your unbelief, but Mark well,he will put you in a place where you will have to believe if you keep up your rant about healers. There are true spirit filled men of God who have been given a signant ring so to speak but still only operate in the will of God.

    • If faith healers exist, then tell me why is Rod Parsley still sick?

      • Heather

I want to thank you brother Geoffrey for your efforts in helping to try to awaken a sleeping Church in these last days. I do not at all see you saying that God does not heal anymore, though many still miss your point.

Perhaps if one would take a moment to read Bro Nick’s comments above a second time- for he hit the nail on the head!

boy!!! i hope most of you dont read your bible the way you read this artical!!! most of you above have twisted disected everything he said. This is why the church is a mess! not one sentance said GOD doesnt heal any more? most of you are feeding of each others drama!!! be quick to hear and slow to speak. i believe GOD heals today through any one faith.most responses ive read. i would be ashamed to have written. we need more praying than acusing for the kingdom! mr.grider said nothing in this artical to receive all the histerics and toung lashing!!! PLEASE CHURCH GROW AND GO IN PEACE.

    • Heather

David, there is so much truth in your comment and it’s so prevalent for the current days that we live in.

      Proverbs 18:19
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

    • trisha

      To David Flynn:
Yes!!! How can so many Christians on this site not be able to understand Grider’s points? He was crystal clear! They ARE reading their Bibles the same way they read this article… With their emotions only.

    • Bro. Nick

David Flynn – Thank you for your comment.

Tragically, most people – not only here in ‘Amerika’, but all around the world – now believe only what they like and what they want to hear – just exactly as the Apostle Paul WARNED about these ‘end times’ we are living in NOW:
      “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
      but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables.”
      (2 Timothy 4:3-4, KJB)

It is my personal Biblical understanding that we truly are living in the days of ‘cafeteria christianity’ when many folks choose which ‘Bible they possess because it is ‘the newest’ ‘translation’ – or ‘version’ – or ‘paraphrase’, and it is advertised to be ‘the most literal’ and/or ‘the most accurate’ – that they will read only occasionally
      – Thus what they personally choose to believe is because – ‘my personal choice is ….’ / ‘I like this …’ / ‘Yes, I sure do like that …’ / ‘Oh NOOOOOOO, I don’t agree with that …’ / Oh yeah, I’ll take a triple portion of thus and such
      – Just as it was in the days of olde:
“In those days there was no king in Israel:
every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
      (Judges 21:25, KJB)

A very Biblically sound Pastor that I listen to on YouTube often makes the comment that ‘Biblical knowledge in ‘Amerika’ is mostly 35 miles wide and 1/8 inch deep – – – and getting shallower by the moment’
      – But how many that call themselves ‘Christians’ – ‘pastors’, ‘teachers’, ‘pew occupiers’ – know or even care about “the certainty of the words of truth” that were written in “the word of the LORD” thousands of years ago:
Ҧ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
      because thou hast rejected knowledge,
      I will also reject thee,
that thou shalt be no priest to me:
seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God,
I will also forget thy children.”
      (Hosea 4:6, KJB)

Thank you Brother Nick…..for your words gathered from the Scriptures over the last while. On a personal level – they benefit me greatly, in correcting, encouraging and strengthening my spirit.
If you were inhabiting my family’s ancestral monastery in 8th Century England – you most likely would be bestowed with the name ‘Brother of Spiritual Reason’.

So for taking the time and effort in this day of haste – I must acknowledge your wisely selected contributions. I will always be grateful for your appropriate Scriptures, and may be, one day I can carry your luggage.

        1 John 4:7
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”

        2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

        God Bless you

  • It’s heartbreaking that people of this caliber would not humble themselves to accept correction to their errors. No wonder God can’t help people in this age. Am so ashamed that people also like David (above comment) whom I supposed should be an English man has soon trashed the English meaning of words. Words have not lost their meaning, neither have English my dear David. Who has bewitched you that you lie?

How on earth do you want to interpret the following words of NFEB to confuse yourself???….

“We do not live in the days of the apostles, and as such, the apostolic gifts of healing do not exist in our present Church Age. This is what the Bible teaches us.”

Which Bible teach who? The apostolic gift does not exist???

How can you deny such an obvious errotic-statement you made. Pls refrain from pride and correct that devilish statement. Am sorry to use that expression. But that’s what it is. Anything that can kill is devilish. See?

You can’t prove that DOCTRINE of yours by the Bible and by what God is still using these men of God to do. Unless you call them occultic???

    • Heather

Since you have taken it upon yourself to point out David’s method of writing skills, may I suggest to you that name of this website stands for NTEB and not NFEB.

      • Heather

Many in the Church of these last days are asleep.

Title: Is your Church part of the great falling away?

      • kiwiwatcher

He had taken a literal approach to the verse in
        2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight:”

But as you say…..a pair of glasses may be required.

  • Tiebet Joshua

The issue here is very interesting. Let me comment on two aspects. 1. That the apostolic gift of healing do not exist in our present church age. This you do not show a proof from the Bible and I want to say that based on Matt. 28:16-20 and Acts 16:15-18, you are not correct. As long as the Great Commission is still in force every of the Bible promises relating to it is also in force. The promise is ‘I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world’. Since you agree that God still heals, I ask you through who does God do this.
Even if Mr. Parsley or his follow preachers pray for him to get well those who don’t believe in divine healing will never believe because it is a matter of belief. Now compare 2Cor.12:7-10 and Gal. 4:13 to Parsley’s situation would you because Paul was unable to take care of himself and so he he had no healing power?
You omitted an important aspect that should have given credibility to your conclusion. You never went to any of those people Parsley prayed for to find out whether they truly got healed or not.
The gospel of Christianity is a gospel of faith but unfortunately Europe and America have thrown the aspect of faith into the Sea. Yet, they are crying about how their governments have turned them to gays, lesbians, what do you call yourselves again?
If you are a Bible believer, then Mark 11:22-24 is for you.

    • You are CONFUSING divine healing with faith healing. We absolutely 100% believe in God’s ability to bring about miraculous and divine healing in peoples lives. What we do not believe, however, is that there are “apostles” present today like in the early church to be the instruments of that power.

This article is PROOF that neither Rod Parsley, Benny Hinn, Peter Popoff or any of the others can heal anyone.

  • Martin_ZA

    Dear Geoffrey,

i don’t see why you are so judgmental about this person. personally i have not seen Rod’s “works” or what have you, but don’t you think your article is a bit out of line? its like a personal attack on this person. If i was a atheist or other non-believer or believer in some other religion and i read this article of yours, do you feel confident that you, through your words and tone in this article, will be able to lead that person to Christ? im just saying… im not judging you, i’m just asking the question.

if he gets sick, he opened a door somewhere in his life for the enemy to come in and attack his health. Refering to other pastors and asking questions about why doesn’t TD Jakes come and pray for him… this just ridiculous. did you maybe think he didn’t ask them to come and pray for him??? to call TD Jakes a fake or phony is really a step in the wrong direction. There is still anointing on TD Jakes as a pastor and that means he is a man of God. Don’t call a man of God a fake or a phony . What make you that different then?? just asking…

i’m not defending Ron in any why, as i stated i don’t know his works and ministry, but who are you to judge him if he gets sick??? there is maybe a plan for a massive testimony to come out of this, how would you know??remember, its not the person who heals, its God who heals.

and then about the healing… Apostolic age or not, God still heals wherever the faith of that person allows God to work. Period. Healing will take place and miracles will take place only if its to the Glory of God.

    • Show me ONE person, any where on the face of the Earth right now, that can lay hands on someone and heal them.I bet Rod Parsley would give a million dollars of his ill-gotten wealth if such a person existed. But they don’t, obviously. If they did, he would be healed, right?

      • Harvey Rosieur

Geoffrey, Am I misunderstanding what you are saying? Jesus gave his disciples a command to make disciples of all Nations and to teach them to do all the things which he had commanded them (the disciples) to do.I have healed (placed my hands on people and spoken the words that they’ be healed in the name of Jesus.’ I have seen many healed because of this.I have cast out demons as well. Many others I know have had this same experience. Not all are healed by any means. That has always troubled me,of course, because a true disciple would heal all, as Jesus did. Some have even died later, but that does not stop me from praying (as I have described ) for the sick.I have exercised all 9 of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and rely on them very much. Are you claiming that these gifts are not for today?. I am not a faith healer nor do I consider myself a ‘quack’. Are you what some call a ‘cessationist’ believing that the gifts of the Holy Spirit passed away with the early apostles?t

  • mmm….Well maybe Mr. Grider has not or can not or will not be Healed, but I have. Several times; one with EMPIRICAL X-RAY PROOF THAT MANY LUNG TUMORS JUST ‘POOF’ WERE GONE; I had asked healing prayers of Everyone I talked with. This healing was for a vey rare disease; Wagners Gramulatosis-which I had in Both Lungs.

I am STILL healed decades later. And BTW Mr. Grider I am one of those ”’Practicing Catholics”’ that you love to hate on. I Know whom I have believed….as for Rod; went to his church many times yrs ago; he is WAAAAYYY TOO MUCH INTO THE $$$ PART; TALKING ABOUT $$$ TAKES 3/4 OF HIS SERMONS….

    • 1). Rod Parsley is a money-hungry faker.
2). I belive in divine healing, I do not believe that ANY human on the face of the earth in the Church age can heal anyone else.
3). I don’t “hate Catholics”, used to be one. Then I got saved and became a Christan.
      4). Thanks for writing 🙂

  • Martin_ZA

Excellent comment by Tiebet . Thank you

  • Tony

As a Catholic Christian I pray that Mr. Parsley has a speedy and complete recovery.

    • As a Christian, I also pray he receives a full and complete healing. I also pray that he stops teaching lies about being about to heal people when he cannot even heal himself.

  • Jewish Voice

Yeshua said that when He returns He is going to find very little “Faith” on earth (Luke 18:80…If you Protestants are such good Christians how come you are losing 85% of your families to the world with each passing generation until now less than one-half of one percent (1%) of our young people have a biblical world view, let alone a Christian one…The number of righteous left in this country is so “small” now that God can’t spare America from the nuclear annihilation to come (Jeremiah 25:32-33)…I have been to your spiritually-dead churches and people are requesting prayer so that they can endure the pain. No healings and no salvations.

  • Patricia Pickard

Son, you are treading on dangerous ground…..

    • Jewish Voice

Patricia, greater is he that is in me that he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)…I am not afraid of those religious people who are attacking the Penecostals… At the time of the rapture, these people will have so little “power” that they can’t make it pass the ceiling. They are your “left behind” christians.

      • Bro. Nick

Jewish Voice – You sure do consistently show a lot of quite strong animosity against those of us that are supposedly your ‘Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus’.
Have you ever thought about the truth that is written in “the word of the Lord” about those that “hateth his brother”?
[8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you,
which thing is true in him and in you:
because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
        – [9] He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
[10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
        – [11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness,
        – and walketh in darkness,
        – and knoweth not whither he goeth,
        – because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
        (1 John, Chapter 2, KJB)

There is NO mention about man made DENOMINATIONS or categories written anywhere in “the word of the Lord”
        – so ‘the Rapture’ will be only for the true “church” – which is everyone that is truly a Biblically “born again” believer and follower of “our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” – “the church”.
        – AND – we are to personally acknowledge our weakness as the Apostle Paul did:
“… for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
        (2 Corinthians 12:10b, KJB)

AND – to truly believe and depend only upon “the Lord God Almighty” for our strength:
        [10] Finally, my brethren,
        be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might.
[11] Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
        (Ephesians 6:10-11, KJB)

  • Malachi

To whom it may concern, I once went to a church ( not mentioning denomination ) . This was about a year after I got saved and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with signs of speaking in tongues. This church I was heading to I figured this must be the church that I will grow and learn about God in and be involved in the community . However this church was about 3 miles away and I had no way to get there, so being the new believer I was I prayed and said “God if there is a way please make it so I can go to this church” At that moment my wife’s mother came into the room and said hey we just got this new bike if any of you want to use it . So I took that as a sign from God and said ” surely this is the church I am called to be at ” I got on the bike and rode as fast as I could to this local church 3 miles away , speaking in tongues the entire ride there. Upon arriving at the church I looked around no one was present I was so eager to find out where everyone was. I continued down the hall way picking up pamphlets as I walked . I had such excitement in my spirit this was where I was called to be. I finally arrived at a room with the door closed, I opened the door and found the church gathering they were having bible study lead by a man of God who has undoubtedly wrote 50+ books amazing. I found an empty seat and sat down awaiting what the preacher would say . As I made contact with the seat the preacher stated, ” The Holy Spirit and his gifts are not for today, the Holy Spirit’s gifts stopped moving upon the last apostles dead we no longer need them because we have the scripture.” He continued, ” Healing’s, speaking in tongues, holy laughter, all of the spiritual gifts described in Corinthians ceased to exist and anyone who claims they have them are being fooled by the devil and surely will go to hell.” I was awestruck, I just received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and could speak in tongues and now you say I am going to hell? I raised my hand and said ” Sir, I can speak in tongues listen…” I began to speak in tongues for about 15 seconds, the preacher began screaming and yelling I have only witnessed this level of anger from a pastor once in my life and this was it . I don’t blame the man but I do understand Jesus warns us of this , Mark 11:22-24 . I realized what it was as I stated, “sorry” The Pastor got more furious and stated I need to leave the church as he had two of his deacon’s escort me out. I left the place riding on my bike crying as a young Christian on the 3 mile ride home, thank God not being drove away from Jesus and Christianity . You see.. Geoffrey I went back a year or two later as a more mature Christian and walked into the door. I figured what had happened was just a fluke they surely must not be like that all the time . I walked in and they were all reading from a hymnal – I began to raise my hands to worship because this is how I have always worshiped God Psalm 63:4. At the end of the service the pastor and his deacons came up to me about 6 of them all surrounding me , I began to feel threatened. I explained to them Im sorry for any disturbance I have caused last time I was here, I just want to let you know The Holy Spirit and his gifts are for today. I quoted mark 16:17-18 , he explained ” Ok then since you think you can drink poison drink a bottle of rubbing alcohol” , Upon saying this he told his deacon to lead me in the back and get the rubbing alcohol. As we went back I began to get nervous we grabbed the bottle and rendezvous with the pastor up front. The pastor looked at me and said ” Go ahead let’s see if your God will save you ” immediately struck in my heart the words of Jesus when the devil tempted him ” IT is written you shall not put the Lord your God to the test.” I grabbed the alcohol handed to me and began to put it to my mouth, at this point I knew the Lord was on my side everything lined up . I was being persecuted by the church, I was talking with a Pharisee the very ones that killed Jesus. So Geoffrey I hope you read this and understand, these articles you are writing , they have the potential to steer young Christians away from the faith and away from our Lord. These Articles are preaching false doctrine just so you can make a point. I want you to understand something Geoffrey I believe you’re a good man , and you do love the Lord but why make foolish arguments? Understand Geoffrey, a person with a testimony is NEVER at the mercy of someone with an argument. Revelation 12:11 And I want you to know, the gifts did not pass away, before you quote 1 Corinthians 14:22 understand, you are the unbeliever the passage is talking about. Not a non-saved person . I will leave you with the words of St. Augustine “IN ESSENTIALS UNITY, IN NON-ESSENTIALS LIBERTY, IN ALL THINGS CHARITY.” Let’s all agree to not agree ? God Bless brother. Honestly.

    • “holy laughter” is not in the Bible…total scam.

      • Martin_ZA

With comments like these, i dont respect this content anymore. Clearly you have never fallen under the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. No true, spirit filled person will denounce holy laughter. Its a way of experiencing the spirit. The word Trinity and Rapture is also not in the Bible, are you calling that a scam as well? Yet you preach about the Rapture…

        God bless you my friend

        • Max

          You are nuts Martin

      • Christie

I was touched greatly by the Holy Spirit at a women’s conference. I had been sick and feeling condemned and the presence of the Holy Spirit was so strong. My pastors wife said she had sensed the despair I was feeling and she laid hands on me and started praying. With both started weeping and then, as if oil was being poured over my head, a tremendous sense of peace and joy came over both of us. We both started laughing out of pure joy and thankfulness for what the lord and his Holy Spirit were doing. It took a good 2-3 minutes before the laughter stopped (I tried to stop sooner for fear of making a scene, but decided to let the lord lead). Afterward, there was a total peace over both of us. There is no doubt that this “Holy laughter” was from God, as neither one of us would do such a thing on our own, and it was one of the best moments of my walk with the Lord. I’m so thankful that he took my tremendous hurt at that moment, and turned it into pure joy, as only he can-beauty for ashes.

  • AD

Your conclusions about Pastor Parsley are wrong. Just because they have faith healing ministries does NOT mean they do not seek medical attention. NO Christian in their right mind ignores medical help while praying and having faith for healing.
They teach (any good pastor worth their salt) to maintain their health and seek medical attention, check ups, etc.
People need to start getting their facts straight.

***OH…and by the way…Pastor Parsley does NOT have cancer any longer. Why don’t you go look THAT one up on his website!

And let’s be clear so you understand GIFTS – those are from GOD. MEN don’t heal the people – people with that GIFT are used by GOD. GOD heals.
I just love when people keep taking whacks at something you know so little about. Clearly you don’t have a clue. You just would rather bash, ridicule and mock something that you have no understanding of – nor how it works…or God. How sad.

If you’re gonna start taking pot shots at something? You might want to actually use FACTS in a debate or when making a point.
You won’t look nearly as foolish.
Or simply ask questions as to WHY these things occur the way they do because it doesn’t make sense to you.

And just for the record, people who are Christians still go through things even after becoming Christians. Christ did throughout his life….unto death.
Only a fool would believe that life is lived through rose-colored glasses and “all would be well” if they think there are not trials to go through. And only a fool would believe that any human being is more pure than Christ and therefore, would be exempt.
There has only been ONE who was ever called perfect…and was and is.

So, before you start finding out you have room for BOTH feet in your mouth, you MIGHT want to start getting your FACTS straight before opening that hole that is in your face that allows words to come out…and start choosing them more carefully before they are said.

If GOD chooses to give men a gift of any kind, it comes from GOD.
MAN doesn’t replace God and do it on his own – or he’d have been doing it without Him in the first place! (And then we are going into a whole other avenue)

You can take it or leave it, but the truth is the truth – there are no versions of it.
Your taking pot shots at who or what God decides to do is only going to leave YOU answering that to Him face to face. Good luck with that.

  • Char

Geoffrey, you contradict yourself. You say you were healed and then you say you don’t believe in healing for this day and age. Hmmm….which one is it?

If you noticed, most people on this website have said the same thing to you as I have, so I don’t think I am misinterpreting your article. God Bless you and pray for God to reveal the scripture(s) to you regarding healing.

    • NO, I **never** said that. Ever. Not even once. How many times do I have to repeat myself. One more time, stay with me now:

1). I 100% believe in God’s ability to provide divine and miraculous healing for Christians in this age.

2). I do NOT believe that ANY man, woman or child, alive now on this earth, has the apostolic gifts of healing that were given ONLY to the apostles in the Bible.

Are we clear? Please say you understand me! 🙂

  • Dawn

Please remove me from your page. Anyone who says the healing power of God is over is wrong. The word apostolic hits a nerve, which goes back to my catholic days. Men are men, no one more than the other. My Yeshua does what He thinks is best and resting in that is my peace. I know personally because my husband died last week due to pulmonary fibrosis. He has his ultimate healing and I rest in that. I pray your eyes to be open and see the risen Yeshua as He is.

  • Char

Dawn, Amen to your beliefs and comments. I’m sorry to hear about your husband, but as you know, he is in a better place than we are.

Geoffrey seems to think that the human apostles were higher than us modern day humans. I don’t understand that, but we will have to agree to disagree on this topic because there are several people on this article that don’t agree with him, but he just doesn’t understand, so that’s the way it goes.

  • Char

Geoffrey, as you say: One more time, stay with me now: and: Are we clear? Please say you understand me!

I do understand what you’re saying, I just don’t agree with you and that doesn’t give you the right to talk down to me like I’m an imbecile. I understand the scriptures too and apparently you don’t. So let it go, Geoff. We (as in most of the people on this chat line) disagree with your opinion, so let it go at that!

I’m sorry to talk like this because it’s out of my norm, but some times it’s necessary. God Bless you!

    • Bro. Nick

Char – You say that Geoffrey ‘spoke down to you’ – and then you ‘talk down to him – ‘I understand the scriptures too and apparently you don’t.’

Just because you and most people do not agree with Geoffrey does not mean that the majority {aka ‘the church of popular opinion’, aka ‘the lukewarm proud church of Laodiceanism’, aka ‘cafeteria christianity’} is correct.
      – It merely means that most people choose to believe what they want – regardless of the meanings of the words that are written in “the scripture of truth”, “the word of the Lord” say – just as ancient Israel did:
      “Son of man,
thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house,
      which have eyes to see, and see not;
they have ears to hear, and hear not:
for they are a rebellious house.”
      (Ezekiel 12:2, KJB)

The Apostle Paul clearly WARNS those few who will listen:
      [3] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
      but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
[4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables.
      (2 Timothy 4:3-4, KJB)

  • I have enjoyed reading some of your opinions on your website Geoffrey, and I have refrained from flat out disagreeing with you in writing in the past, because some things can be chalked up to “Disagreement” rather than accuse someone of arrogance.

But my fellow brother in Christ, and I believe you to be, you cannot claim to have the entire interpretation of the scripture. It is my belief that Jesus Christ has the full Revelation from YHWH, and the scripture is of no private interpretation…You may claim that verse is for the Jew in Jacob’s Trouble as well, and I would agree, however the entire of scripture was written for our exhortation, to be rightly divided.

Because there is something in your upbringing that you may not be too comfortable with, does not make it impossible for God to perform those things with others who will step out in His faith to let Him heal someone.

I have personally prayed over myself on 3 different occasions (many more as well) within the past 6 years of graduating Bible College when I was being overwhelmed with what appeared to be a sudden flu attack each time.

Each time got progressively worse to the point of physical demonic abuse (I’ll spare the details, suffice it to say I went from flu trembling to what felt like several demons ripping the flesh off my body), each time I felt the presence of the Trinity encouraging to fight a spiritual battle not to accept the flu. I fought fervently with prayer, scripture and praise to the Lord and my God, only to have them go from flu symptoms to out right attacking the very flesh I wear.

Each time after approx. 2 hours of spiritual battle (which we happen to be in, if one hasn’t noticed) the demons fled, and I did bask in the presence of the Lord praising Him for the authority He gives to those who believe. It is He who fights the battle, it is He who they fear not me. It is scripture & praise to Him that they detest.

But it is in His name that they must flee.

Now, you might consider that I was a little overtired, a little crazy, or just hallucinating, but I can assure you that none of these fly, as two of these experiences happened in the last couple months of Bible College just before graduating, and I watched as others in my class accepted the symptoms that were thrown at them. Yet because I chose to do battle when the Lord showed me to, I wasn’t with the flu for 2 weeks like my fellow students, but walked in health.

I do not claim to have it all figured out, I am still learning, but I am willing to let God out of the box.

I, like others on here will respectfully disagree with your theory that the gifts of the Spirit have seceded, no where in scripture does it claim they have, and it’s sad that this, like the Pre-Trib Rapture divides some of us because we are uncomfortable, or have never experienced His miracles.

I also do not claim to have some special ministry of healing, but have seen Him heal with my hands, and without my hands, just by the words I spoke in obedience on others SEEKING His healing power. But, I will let Him use me as He chooses, not as I…

Geoffrey, I sincerely hope you never need His healing touch, but I also pray that if you do He opens your eyes to His ways, which are not our ways.

As for Rod, and Benny, I have some skepticism of my own (with Benny it goes back to OCC, but nothing on a personal experience), but one way we’ll know for sure if they were performing His will is if they are with us in the Rapture, if so, this is mute, if not, I pray for all those left behind…

I have many stories I can share with you if you are more interested, and open as those in Acts 17:11, drop me a line, and I’ll even give you my phone number…

    God bless, in Christ Jesus

  • the other mary

Every time I come across one of these scam tv shows, just did late the other night, I shake my head at the evilness of it. The guy also sold healing oil at every commercial break too…well, wait it was free but I guarantee when you call the operator asks for a gift. Who could refuse paying something for the gift of healing….why would there be any sick people in this country if these people really had the gift? They should be locked up.

  • TM

It’s unfortunate that you believe the gifts have ceased, because I can promise you that they are alive and well in the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not by our own power but by the power of the Holy Spirit that we speak in tongues. Romans 8:26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” I will pray for you and ask God to open your eyes and give you wisdom on this topic. I challenge you, Mr. Grider, to get in your prayer closet and pray and worship and ask the Lord to show you the truth. Through His spirit is where we obtain our power over the fleshly desires and principalities of darkness.

  • 1 John 4:1

    @ Geoffrey Grider

I often read how you are well-mannered with the posters here.

I briefly looked into Rod Parsley’s background. Parsley is selling Expensive so-called miracles. Why isn’t everyone around here talking about that? I realize some individuals want to point a finger at you and others aim to defend their biblical perspectives. But what happened to talking about Rod Parsley’s fraud over the years? Parsley has been guiding individuals to buy expensive miracles. Miracles are not for sell.

For Jesus’ supernatural healing onto the Body of Christ, I thank Him.

When healing occurs or does not occur, I thank Jesus. Many in the bible went straight to the Lord to worship Him, even though they did not always receive their favored outcome.

For several years now Christian Chin people from Burma have fled persecution only to face more persecution in India. Unaccompanied minors walk throughtout India and are raped, discriminated against and persecuted. Oh How I want each one of the Christian Chin people to have their fellowship with believers and family. I know they are isolated and in danger daily. Scripture says we are to be with them in person or in heart. I want the individuals who believe you can buy miracles read their bibles and hear Jesus tell them I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. And the Body of Christ is to serve one another.

    • Heather

Paul went out of his way not to be a financial burden during his ministry. But look what we have happening today. The total opposite.

For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God (1 Thess. 2:9).

For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you (2 Thess. 3:7-8).

Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ . . . I have made no use of any of these rights, nor am I writing these things to secure any such provision . . . What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel (1 Cor. 9:15-18).

      Acts 8:20 KJV
But Peter said unto him, thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

      • kiwiwatcher

Excellent sister Heather – those Scriptures are so inspirational that I’ve copied them down.

I am totally unaware of Mr Parsley and wish him well. Whilst he receives the best medical care I am reminded and pray for those people who are ill and can not afford the appropriate treatment. My heart goes out to them.

        2 Corinthians 1:8-9
“For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:

But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but IN GOD which raiseth the dead:”

In reading the original post and viewing the video – I wondered IF a person truly had a GIFT from God to heal – could they then make money from the GIFT?? Reminded me of what Jesus thought.

        Matthew 21:12-13
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

Guess that reaction would still apply today.

          Thank you kiwiwatcher,
I’m not sure if you have ever heard of Kenny Jacobs, but you may enjoy this video. He does daily prophecy updates as it relates to Bible prophecy. This one is packed with all the latest.

          • kiwiwatcher

Very much appreciated sister. Listening now…as Kenny is saying – the signs are all about us…very apparent.
            Home soon Lord Jesus.

      • 1 John 4:1

I agree. You posted inspirational Scripture. And I like to read each chapter for each verse.

If Rod Parsley would read these verses and evaluate himself, he will realize he can not ask individuals to buy miracles. I hope he confesses and repents of his sins.

The following is just the beginning of the checklist info Rod Parsley uses for one order page. It seems to me, Parsley is not only asking individuals to buy miracles, Parsley is asking individuals to submit money for prayer requests.

        “Yes, Pastor Parsley!

I am sowing my sacrificial gift of one week’s income, one day’s income, or my very best seed gift believing God to honor my Resurrection Seed offering and bring me a Perfect Harvest in my areas of need.”

I have never heard of Ron Parsley before…But I do know that it is a lot easier to pray for someone else than it is for oneself…How many hundreds have been healed because of Ron’s ministry? How about Benny Hinn’S ministry?…I pray in tongues and these prayers go stright into the throne room via the Holy Spirit in me and I get answers in short order (Romans 8:26-27)…The only prayer that doesn’t seem to ever get answered is rain, lots, lots of rain…No, I don’t prophecy or interpret prophecies… I don’t believe that there is a single prophet alive today that hears from God.

    • Max

Rod Parsley is the stem part of the plant and leaf Parsley are the leaves.

      • Kiwiwatcher

        Matthew 15:13
“But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up”

  • God is sovereign! He is the healer! He is in charge of who is healed and who is not. Our faith does not heal us, God heals. God still heals today but not through Apostolic ministry as He did in the infant church! Anyone who knows and loves our Lord Jesus can pray for the sick. Our Lord still heals people today. I know because he healed me in a very sovereign way. No one laid hands on me. No one anointed me with oil. I didn’t strain to work up extra faith. I simply relaxed and put myself in His hands for the outcome. Prayer was offered near and far by many. I suffered 2 very major heart attacks. My heart sustained sever damage. People prayed! My doctor sent me home from the hospital on a ton of medication. Two weeks later I suffered more sever chest pain and was hospitalized again. Tests were done to determine why. My doctor came into my room a day or two later and said, “I have no clinical explanation for this but all of your heart damage is gone!” He took me off all medication and sent me home. That was 15 years ago and I’ve never had another problem with my heart. At the time I was the director of a children’s ministry for the county in which I lived. God simply wasn’t through with me yet and had future ministry for me to do and He wanted me well enough to continue to serve Him. I praise the Lord for extending my life to be able to do that.

  • EJBT

Geoffrey…I have been reading here for several months and this is my first time to comment.

I agree with your interpretation of the scriptures on this subject and do not understand why so many here are attacking you for what you are not even saying. How many times must you repeat that you know God is still, of course, in the healing business?

Is it lack of comprehension on their parts or just spiritual blindness?

I appreciate you speaking truth. Guess some people just don’t want to hear it.

    • Well, hey there, and welcome to the boards! I believe, with ALL my heart, that God is still in the “healing business” today. Last month I got diagnosed with skin cancer, I prayer for a healing, went to the doctor, and God worked through them to heal me. But what I cannot understand, no matter how hard I try, is why Christians would fall for the OBVIOUSLY phony “faith healers” who ONLY want your money. The only thing I can chalk it up to is that the spiritual blindness of the Laodicean Church is in full swing.

People like Rod Parsley. who begged people for $1.6 MILLION or he would go bankrupt, or Crefelo Dollar who asked his people to give him $65 MILLION for a new jet plane, and Benny Hinn who a few years back begged for MILLIONS to stay in business. Oral Roberts back in the 1990’s said he “had to have $12 MILLION dollars or God would kill him”. And the list goes on and on. Google what I just told you and you will see it.

I hope Rod Parsley gets well, I truly do. I also hope he stops teaching lies and fleecing the flock of God.

  • Jewish Voice

EBJT, Geoffrey is attacking Pentecostals and violating Psalm 105:15. He is grieving the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).

    • No, I am not “attacking Pentecostals”, what I am saying is that FAITH HEALERS cannot heal anyone. If faith healing was true, Rod Parsley would not need to go to a doctor for his cancer.I watched lots of videos of his “healing services” in which he purported to “heal people of cancer” just by touching them and blowing on them! And YET – in REAL LIFE – when he gets sick with a real disease he is POWERLESS. All of his ministry friends are POWERLESS to help him.

      Why is that?

  • EJBT

Geoffrey is not “attacking” anyone. Stating truth is not an attack.

The gift of healing was given pretty much only to the apostles & their close assiciates to validate the gospel message. In this day, we are to seek after truth, not miracles (Matt. 12:39.)

    • Heather

Perhaps the real offense here is “Pride” from those who are of the Laocedian false Church?
Pride that the Church in the age of Grace, does not possess the same abilities that were granted the Apostles, and will come back to the 144,000. Everything is not ALL about the Church.

    • Heather

      Amen to EJBT!

  • Jewish Voice

Geoffrey, yes, you are attacking God’s anointed (Psalm 105:15)…You know yourself that man can’t heal anyone…Like Oral Roberts used to say, his hands were the contacts that God was using to heal people… God was doing the healing. Oral Roberts was the contact…The “power” that flows into a body feels like electricity and, boy, is it ever powerful…The Jews were the first Pentecostals and it looks like we are going to be the last …The 21st Century Protestants are spiritually-dead and powerless (2 Timothy 3:1-5, 13).

    • Max

      Mister Jewish Voice

You seem to think “attacking” is a bad thing … Well how about ACCURSED?
Anyone who preaches another gospel other than the FREE GIFT of eternal life promised to those who rest in God’s love in giving us His Son Jesus Christ as a full and final sacrifice for sin … Well the WORD of YHWH says in Galatians let those false teachers be ACCURSED.

You sir are the white washed tomb my Lord and Savior warned everyone about.

Change your mind about Yeshua and receive eternal life.

  • Joseph D’Hippolito

I would like to offer some perspective.

Keep in mind that during the First Century, Paul confronted a lot of so-called “apostles” and others trying to “make merchandise” of early believers. It wouldn’t surprise me if some of them did so through healing “miracles.” I won’t say whether Rod Parsley is fraudulent or legitimate. I simply don’t know. However, Paul himself did heal and cast out demons while trying to fight the frauds. Even before Paul was converted, Simon Magnus thought he could buy the power to impart the Holy Spirit to others.

Here’s the point: First, nothing is new under the sun, end times or no end times. Second, don’t allow yourselves to disregard legitimate supernatural healing because of the frauds. Third, don’t rely solely on supernatural phenomena to generate or buttress faith. Finally, and most importantly, pray for and use discernment at all times!

  • Steven

I am no Rod Parsley fan but your false assumption demonstrates you do not understand spiritual gifts. The gifts are given to someone for the benefit of others, not ones self. Therefore he would not not able to administer healing superaturally to himself through a gift of healing. However, as any Christian he could exercise faith but just because his personal faith for himself may not be strong enough for his own healing that does not prove that he personally does or does not have the gift of healing. Your position is very convenient to believe when you don’t need faith to exercise it, just an argument. Disappointing.

  • Rod

My Lord Jesus Christ is so merciful , his Love is so BIG than the world can’t understanding that , even as He came not to be ministered unto but to minister and to give His life a ransom for many ( Matt20 : 28 ) , be humble , do not accept talk , which are useless .

The All story is about Faith .

“And all things , whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer , believing ye shall receive ” now the topic is to say WHO believe or not in Jesus Christ . oooooooh i am so proud to know the gospel ….Alleluiah .

  • Barb Barwich

Why do you say that there are no apostles today, if scripture SAYS, for it is written, that God gave apostle, prophets, evangelists, teachers and pastors to the church, to the body of Christ?

    • If you say there are apostles today, then how come they cannot manifest the SIGNS of an apostle?

  • Lori

I feel sorry for you that you don’t know the Power of God. If it was you, and you were diagnosed with cancer and had so many days to live, you might want prayer too. I’ve been healed over and over again. My granddaughter was born 15 weeks early at 1lb 6 oz with a 1% chance to live. We had everyone praying for her. The doctors would come in her room to start their day and pray with our family and for that baby because they said they could feel the Power of God in her room. You are talking about something you know nothing about because when you experience, you will never doubt. And who at someone’s lowest point in life, writes an article like this???? Jeremiah 32:27. “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there any thing too hard for me?” Pastor Rod we will be praying for complete healing.

    • Lori

By the way, my granddaughter is our Miracle Baby. Even the doctors call her that. No surgeries, no glasses needed, no heart or brain problems, which the doctors said she would need, she is perfect! She turns 2 this month and at 2, she lifts her hands in church and praises God like the rest of us.

  • Jacqueline

The original article is very disturbing.

I’m always amazed by the sheer volume of commentary given to the things of God; yet how little commentary is given to new age practice and other such practices across the world.

I believe in divine healing 100%. This is come about through laying on of hand; being anointed by the elders; prayer and fasting; a dream or vision; meditation on healing scriptures 24×7. They all have one thing in common faith.

Example 1: My dad was given 24hrs to live, his kidneys and liver and heart were all failing. I was not prepared to have him die for so many reasons. I cried out to God in desperation, and God heard me and answered by cry. Just as I prayed, the doctors repeated the tests on my dad’s kidneys and liver and documented not understanding how his kidneys and liver was now functioning normally. A foreign consultant heart specialist arrived at the hospital and my dad was the his first operation to perform a 3 bypass operation, that became a 6 bypass operation. He said, something in him was guiding his hands throughout the 18 hour surgery. He didn’t understand what it was, but he knew he had to do everything possible to save my dad’s life and to provide him with a good quality of live. I know who guided him (God the father, son and Holy Ghost). Please note that throughout the operation, I muttered Ps 118:17 at least 5000 times, until, it superceded every other through and became my families experience. Its now 16 years since the operation. My dad is 100% fine.

Example 2: I suffered Bell’s palsy with half my face paralysed. The doctors said my face would never be the same again. I was only 32, so I could not accept a twisted face for the remainder of my life. To God be the glory, 2 church sisters combined their faith with mine, laying lands on my face and praying for 3 hours straight. I perspired throughout the prayer session, as though I was in a sauna. The next day, my face was totally healed. I went back to the doctors, who said they had no explanation for what had happened. I have an explanation. A miracle from God through GREAT FAITH, by combining the faith of 3 people.

Example 3: I was having a full medical, when the GP said that they were concerned by their recordings that I should have had a severe stroke several weeks earlier. They couldn’t understand why the results of tests were at odds with how healthy I looked. Well, I had the answer. The Holy Spirit alerted me in a dream to the risk of a stroke. I said nothing to anyone, and used our fasting programme at church to go on three 21 days fast. On day 14 of the 3rd fast, around 12:15am, as I sat on my bed in prayer and meditation, I felt a chain break off my hands and a weight leave the left side of my body. I knew immediately, that the stroke which started as something spiritual had left me. When I got out of bed, every strange sensation in my body had disappeared.

Example 4: I had 2 massive blood clots to my left leg in the same year, but 6 months apart. In-fact two Sunday’s ago, at church, my GP hugged me when she saw me. She shared again, that she didn’t believe I would make it to the hospital alive. My faith was weak. I had enough strength to worship, but nothing else. I raised an altar to the poor (Ps 41:1-3). My husband carried me faith wise by doing a 7 day dry fast, followed by a 21 day I contributed by blocking my ears to every negative report and meditating on healing scriptures only. I recited 1 Pet 2:24 about 100,000 times over the year that I was off work sick. When I went back for a scan, the clot had completely disappeared and my protein s level was back to normal.

I am citing these examples to say, God can use whatever means He wants to bring healing to us. His only requirements are belief and faith. To be healed through medical intervention requires faith, just as healing through laying on of hands or anointing oil or fasting and praying or worship or meditating on the word 24×7. FAITH IS THE COMMON INGREDIENT of all these approaches to healing.

Medical intervention only works after sickness or disease is dealt with spirtually.

I would imaging the Rod would have raised a seed to the poor, prayed and fasted, meditated on the word days and night for months to deal with the ROOT CAUSE OF THE DISEASE long before medical intervention which was effective because the root cause had been dealt with.

LOVE TO ALL (1 COR 13)

PS. Whatever negative feedback, no one can deny me my experiences, and I have all the documentary evidence to encourage my faith in other lifes challenges.

    • Jacqueline,
The only thing I would add is that you be careful not to place your faith in the miracles. Our faith is to only and always be in the person Jesus Christ.
Jesus chastised those who followed Him because of the miracles. And Rom.10:17 tells us that the ONLY way to have and grow in faith is “…by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. We do not get or grow our faith through experiences. No matter how miraculous they may be.

  • DL Eyestone

Pastor Parsley is my Pastor. I have seen people healed when he laid hands on them. If you attended his church you would know what the Lord had spoken to him as to why he was sick. God expects us to use wisdom and God uses doctors also. I have seen miracle healings since I was in the first grade. Jesus is still the healer, and we are in the last days and will see many more signs, wonders and miracles. Before say things against Pastor Parsley you might want to look in your Bible and see what God says about saying things against His anointed. The scripture that was referenced that the gifts were until the Perfect One comes was after Jesus left and He hasn’t come back. The Bible also says the gifts are for him who believes, so if you don’t believe then you won’t have them. I believe and have seen, I want everything God has for me.

    • I have seen videos where “pastor” Parsley laughingly “cast out the Devil” and “healed people”. But he wasn’t laughing when he got cancer, was he? And he did not get a “miracle” healing, did he? So basically his ENTIRE ministry was proved to be a FRAUD.

  • I’m just gonna leave this right here:

But then again, I find any argument with a cessationist cannot be constructive.

  • Oj Azuka

The point of contention is that if truly Rod Parsley has d gift of healing like the men of the bible did,he should have gotten healed supernaturaly! My question to those saying such is this; did Elisha have the gift of healing as recorded in the bible? Did he truly perform miracles n raise the dead?did his bones in his grave truly brought a dead man back to life? If yes as the bible records, why did he die of SICKNESS then according to 2 kings 13v14? Why didn’t he HEAL himself like you accuse Rod Parsley of not doing with the healing gifts?does Elisha dying of a sickness invalidates all that was said of him and his performing of miracles? When God asked Isaiah to tell Hezekiah that He(God)will heal him after he prayed, how did God heal him? 2 kings 20v7 tells us it was with local herbs! Any form of Healing is a Miracle! So sad how we impose our views without bible verses! No verse of d bible says anything about the divine gifts ending with the apostles! Infact, Mark 16v17 says, WHOEVER(nt apostles with special gifts)believes shall lay hands on the sick n they shall recover! If the gift of healing has ended, then the ministry gift of the evangelist and the act of evangelism has ended as well, because the GREAT commission as contained in mark 16 spells out ALL that goes with the GREAT commission,so,if 1 part of it sizes to operate, then the entire commission has ended as well! If u go about talking about FAKE preachers, then please show us the ORIGINAL 1s because for there to be a FAKE, an ORIGINAL has to be in place 1st! NO ORIGINAL,NO FAKE! Is John 14v16 in your bible that says: The Holy Spirit is with us FOREVER,nt for a period? So,how come The Holy Spirit is with us FOREVER, but His gifts have gone with the apostles? NONSENSE!

  • Paula GRaves

If someone prays for you to get better and you do, then you call it a miracle. If someone prays for you to get better and you don’t, then it was God’s will. Why even bother to pray if it is God’s will in the end?

    Elisha’s Final Prophecy
14When Elisha became sick with the illness of which he was to die, Joash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over him and said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” 15Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and arrows.” So he took a bow and arrows.…

If I were to apply the analogy, since Elisha healed many people, that he was a fake too? If he were a prophet, he should have healed himself?

    Ignorance gone to seed?

    Matthew 27:42Common English Bible (CEB)

42 “He saved others, but he can’t save himself. He’s the king of Israel, so let him come down from the cross now. Then we’ll believe in him.

Does anyone see any similarity between this scripture and the threadline of this blog?

    • Edwitness

      Common sense,
You describe an interesting dilemma. “Do we believe the teaching because of the miracle”? Or in Rod’s case the lack of one? The answer is a resounding NO WAY. This was the point Jesus made to the people when He told them that the miracles they claimed to have done were done by those He did not know. Mt.7:22, 23 And He told the disciples that the blessing was for those who while not seeing, yet believed. John 20:29
It is Rod Parsley’s teaching that makes him wrong in his doctrine. Not any possible “miracles” he may or may not have performed.

If you gain nothing else from the words of Jesus regarding those He does not know, learn that miracles do not save anyone. Nor do they confirm a teaching is true.

And in answer to your question about this blog. NO! There is not a single similarity between your point in the use of Mt. 27:42 and this blog.

God still heals today through the name of Jesus. God has healed me many times. I was supposed to have had operations but instead choose to beleive in God’s word. The gifts are as real today as they were in the Bible

God is God and He is in control. Sometimes people are healed instantly and sometimes they are not. The gifts have not ended. Perhaps he did go to one. They are only men and God uses them but it is all in God’s hands. Even when Jesus prayed for the blind man. He saw men as trees walking and Jesus had to pray for him again and then the man’s sight was restored

  • Common Sense

First, the woman with the issue of blood first went to the doctors. There is nothing sinful about going to the doctors since no one was ever reprimanded for doing so. Second, God is a God of healing as stipulated numerous times in scripture. My personal belief is that He is also involved when using doctors just as He is involved when one is moved to help an orphan or a widow. God uses people. Last, God wants everyone to be saved yet people still go to hell… is one to assume, then, that those who preach salvation aren’t preaching the Gospel? I don’t think so. As Jentsen Franklin said “Criticism is the death gargle of those who are under achievers”.
