Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s in-the-works Saudi Arabian megadevelopment NEOM is being touted as a futuristic paradise — but tech privacy pundits are concerned for the rights of residents.

We told you last year about the super-cities being planned in Saudi Arabia by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. NEOM is the main city, and its subdivisions, or regions, are called THE LINE, OXAGON, TROJENA and SINDALAH. The idea is a sustainable 15-minute city that, despite its glamourous and beautiful marketing, reminds me of a high-tech prison. In 2023, we find that the crown prince is floating a partnership with the Communist Chinese which would take the project to a whole new level, and a whole new outcome. Kinda feels like somebody might have tried this before, right? Get ready for launch in 2024.

The whole world is rushing to single access point, everything digital, everything electric and everything sustainable. The deeper you dive into it, the more it becomes apparent that when they say something is ‘sustainable’, it’s akin to Soylent Green, the Stepford Wives and Minority Report. As beautiful as the images from NEOM are, make no mistake about it, NEOM is a cage meant to trap and hold prey. The only question is just how big the cage will be.

Saudi Arabia’s futuristic new city could be ‘scary’ surveillance state

FROM THE NY POST: Known as Neom, the $1 trillion city is a pet project of the prince and is set to feature an artificial ski resort, robots and AI for the project’s inhabitants, and two 1,600-foot-high buildings running parallel to each other across a 75-mile strip of desert and mountains, as The Post previously reported.

There will be 10 regions, including a zero-carbon area called THE LINE where AI will use 90% of inhabitants’ data to personalize services — far more than the approximately 10% of resident data used in current smart cities, Insider reported.

“NEOM is designed to leapfrog those other smart cities, to begin from the ground up in sort of an entirely designed fashion to collect data and use that data for the purposes of the city,” James Shires, a researcher at London’s Chatham House think tank, told the publication.

This has a concerning amount of potential to mutate into less of a science fiction dreamscape than a metropolis at the mercy of state surveillance, warned Marwa Fatafta, a policy manager for the digital rights organization Access Now.

NEOM is a region in the north west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. NEOM means ‘new future’ and with more than 2,800 staff – from 86 countries – already living and working here onsite, it has already become a home for people who dream big and want to be part of building a new economic model for the country and the world.

Although Neom and other cities like it are being marketed as “smart” or “eco cities,” they’re actually “surveillance cities” because “essentially they’re built on an architecture that is fueled by people’s personal data, and in a country like Saudi Arabia where there is no data protection or safeguards, no oversight, no accountability, no transparency, no separations of powers, and the fact that Mohammed bin Salman is actually ruling the security agencies,” Fatafta told Insider, adding “It is a scary idea.”

China is playing a major role in distributing surveillance technology, so as to enable the creation of such cities — part of the nation’s leader Xi Jinping’s larger plan to “normalize and seek to legitimize its vision of a state-led cyberspace and surveilled public,” Harvard University fellow Bulelani Jili commented to Insider.

It would appear that the Saudi Prince — whose ties with Jinping have recently grown stronger — is eager to assist in realizing this vision on a grand scale. READ MORE

A huge earthquake in Turkey and Syria registering 7.8 on the Richter Scale has already killed 3,700 souls, injuring countless thousands more, was like ‘watching the apocalypse’.

This week is off to a gangbusters start from a prophecy perspective, with a once in a generation earthquake rocking Turkey and Syria, open worship of Satan at the Grammys sponsored by Pfizer, as well as minor earthquakes in New York and Georgia. Russia is preparing to unleash a 500,000 soldier contingent on Ukraine, and Chinese spy balloons fly over America with impunity. Things get much hotter and it might be time for a little ’23 skidoo’, and wouldn’t that be great? In the meantime, here we are at the beginning of sorrows.

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. She reported this morning that “Yes thank God I’m all right.  I’m living in Istanbul and this horrendous earthquake happened in the southeast of Turkey a few hours away from me. But it is turning into quite a disaster for the nation.  Thank you for your prayers and your concern. We have been told to restock our “earthquake bag” in case we too become affected. We just learned Pastor Hakan and his wife in Anitoch went to be with the Lord , leaving behind a young son. We have so few Turkish Pastors. Tragic” Please continue to pray for LuAnn and her efforts in Turkey, that the Lord would continue to keep her safe and give her and her team much fruit for His Kingdom. And pray for the untold tens of thousands of souls devastated by this earthquake.

Major earthquake kills 3,700 in Turkey and Syria, weather hits survivors

FROM YAHOO NEWS: A huge earthquake killed more than 3,700 people across a swathe of Turkey and northwest Syria on Monday, with freezing winter weather adding to the plight of the thousands left injured or homeless and hampering efforts to find survivors.

The magnitude 7.8 quake brought down whole apartment blocks in Turkish cities and piled more devastation on millions of Syrians displaced by years of war. It struck before sunrise in harsh weather and was followed in the early afternoon by another large quake.

In Diyarbakir in southeast Turkey, a woman speaking next to the wreckage of the seven-storey block where she lived said: “We were shaken like a cradle. There were nine of us at home. Two sons of mine are still in the rubble, I’m waiting for them.” She was nursing a broken arm and had injuries to her face.

“It was like the apocalypse,” said Abdul Salam al-Mahmoud, a Syrian in the northern town of Atareb. “It’s bitterly cold and there’s heavy rain, and people need saving.”

The earthquake was the biggest recorded worldwide by the U.S. Geological Survey since a tremor in the remote South Atlantic in August 2021.

In Turkey, the death toll stood at 2,316, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said, making it the country’s deadliest earthquake since a tremor of similar magnitude in 1999 devastated the heavily populated eastern Marmara Sea region near Istanbul, killing more than 17,000. French President Emmanuel Macron celebrated his 45th birthday in the Roman ruins city of Jerash in Jordan by Selah Petra

The Middle East site Al Bawaba reported today that ‘Emmanuel Macron visited Jerash on Wednesday, accompanied by a group of people as they all were listening to Egyptian soprano Farrah el-Dibany, according to a video shared online. Macron came to Jordan from Qatar to participate in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership. The conference was held in Jordan’s Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Upon his arrival in Jordan, Crown Prince Hussein welcomed the French president on Tuesday.’ Now what in the actual and literal Hell could Macron be doing there? Oh, you know.

The Great Roman City Of Jerash In Jordan

FROM TRAVEL TIME TURTLE: Jerash was actually founded as a Greek city by Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC. But it was under the Romans about 300 years later that it truly began to flourish. Jerash and Petra existed at exactly the same time and were just 300 kilometers apart. And they were both in this economically-glorious position of being in the middle of overland trade routes connecting the continents.

Jerash was the trading centre for the Romans, with goods coming in and out of their empire in Europe to the northwest. Petra operated as the trading centre for goods coming from Arabia, Asia and Africa. These two cities connected these two enormous spheres of trade, and they both were enriched by it.

Jerash grew and grand buildings worthy of this wealthy city were built – theatres and temples, a hippodrome for chariot races, an enormous oval-shaped plaza surrounded by colonnades. It was one of the most impressive Roman cities to ever exist in the world. READ MORE
