Covid-19 has spotlighted the promise and peril of transhumanism, the idea of using AI technology to overcome sickness, aging and death and achieve eternal life.

Ever since the Tower of Babel, fallen man has dreamed, schemed and plotted a way that they could have eternal life apart from the One who created them, that is God. They don’t want to die, no one does, but neither do they care about or wish to be accountable to a holy and righteous God who has every right to demand that from His own creation. Transhumanism is the idea that with enough advances in technology, unregenerate man will eventually figure out how to be immortal. But that will never happen.

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14,15 (KJB)

It will never happen, because in order to do that through transhumanism, man has to somehow be able to leverage the intellect God gave him, in the body God gave him, while breathing God’s air, while feeling his heart that continues to beat in his chest only because God allows it to, and create an eternity that God is not allowed to be a part of. Did you know that the bible has a name for a place where that will happen? It’s called Hell. Don’t go. Transhumanism offers the illusion of eternal life while blinding you to the truth of the word of God.

A SHORT 5 MINUTE VIDEO PRESENTING THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT HEAVEN AND HELL

Looking Forward To the End of Humanity With Transhumanism

FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: It sounds bitterly ironic now, in the midst of a global pandemic, but not long ago some of the most forward-looking people in the world believed that humanity was close to abolishing death. “If you ask me today, is it possible to live to be 500? The answer is yes,” said Bill Maris, the founder of Google Ventures, in 2015. Three years later, biomedical researcher Aubrey de Grey estimated that “people in middle age now have a fair chance” of never dying.

Eternal life through advanced technology seems like a pipe dream for a society that, until recently, had trouble manufacturing enough masks to save doctors’ and nurses’ lives. Yet Covid-19 may turn out to be just the kind of crisis needed to turbocharge efforts to create what its advocates call a “transhuman” future. With our biological fragility more obvious than ever, many people will be ready to embrace the message of the Transhumanist Declaration, an eight-point program first issued in 1998: “We envision the possibility of broadening human potential by overcoming aging, cognitive shortcomings, involuntary suffering and our confinement to planet Earth.”

Transhumanists, many of them associated with nonprofits and think tanks like Humanity Plus and the Extropy Institute, have long been driven by the fear that our entire species could be wiped out by nuclear war, asteroid collision, technological accident—or a pandemic. In March, as the coronavirus was spreading around the world, the science writer Tom Chivers observed that it proves the need for technological protection against such existential threats: “Humans could be around for a billion years, or more, if we don’t screw it up. Coronavirus won’t be the thing that kills us all, but it’s a bloody good illustration of how something could,” he wrote in the online magazine UnHerd.

People have always feared death and dreamed of escaping it.

But until now, that hope has been formulated in religious terms. Transhumanism promises that death can be conquered physically, not just spiritually; and the movement has the support of people with the financial resources to make it happen, if anyone can. Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are among the Silicon Valley moguls who have invested in life-extension research. In 2013, Google entered the field by launching the biotech firm Calico, short for California Life Company.

Transhumanists envision several possible avenues to immortality. Nanorobots could live inside our cells and constantly repair damage, halting aging in its tracks. Genetic engineering could eliminate the mechanisms that cause us to age in the first place. Such technologies are still out of reach, but transhumanists believe we will be able to master them sooner than most people think, with the help of superpowered artificial intelligence.

Ultimately, however, the hope is that we won’t just use computers—we’ll become them. Today, cognitive scientists often compare the brain to hardware and the mind to the software that runs on it. But a software program is just information, and in principle there’s no reason why the information of consciousness has to be encoded in neurons.

This may sound like science fiction, but it’s also the natural conclusion of the technological advances of the last 20 years. The internet has already made it largely unnecessary to physically visit places like banks, post offices and movie theaters, and the lockdown has given a big push to this trend. As our physical worlds shrink in an effort to avoid contracting Covid-19, our virtual worlds are expanding to make up for it. For the foreseeable future, many of us will be attending virtual schools, worshiping at virtual churches and socializing at virtual parties. And the history of the internet suggests that once things move online, they seldom move back—just ask department stores and CD manufacturers.

The pandemic is also exposing one of the biggest challenges that will emerge along with the transhuman future: new kinds of social inequality that will make the existing ones seem minor. During the months of lockdown, a sharp division emerged between people who work with information—images, words, numbers—and people who work with objects—shelving groceries, delivering packages, nursing the sick. The former can shelter in place and communicate through screens, but the latter have to venture out into the physical world, putting themselves at risk of infection.

As technology makes it possible to escape more of the burdens and dangers of physical existence, this class and professional divide could deepen into an existential one, with a virtual elite being served by an embodied working class. Of course, wealth and power have always offered some insurance against life’s risks. During the Civil War, Americans could pay a substitute to take their place in the draft; soon, you may be able to pay someone to take your place in the disease- and danger-ridden physical world, while you stay behind the safety of a screen.

A transhuman future in which mortality is optional may sound like paradise, but if it arrives sooner for some of us than for others, it could prove to be a dystopia. READ MORE

When you contribute to this fundraising effort, you are helping us to do what the Lord called us to do. The money you send in goes primarily to the overall daily operations of this site. When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. Even all the way to South Africa. We even restarted our weekly radio Bible study on Sunday nights again, thanks to your generous donations. All this is possible because YOU pray for us, YOU support us, and YOU give so we can continue growing.

But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 15,860+ people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 150,000+ followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 15,900 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.

OpenAI Disbands Safety Team That Was Put In Place So Artificial Intelligence Would Have Safeguards In Mad Rush To Bring About The Singularity

OpenAI on Friday confirmed that it has disbanded a team devoted to mitigating the long-term dangers of super-smart artificial intelligence.

The changes are happening so fast now that you might not even be aware that you are living in a science fiction futuristic movie where AI computer technology catches up with every day human life, beginning the process of taking over everything on every level. Your King James Bible has long shown you end times technology, you just didn’t know what it was when you read it. Now you do.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.” Revelation 13:15 (KJB)

We live in the southernmost state in America, in the country, surrounded by bucolic views of gorgeous farmland with scenes that likely have not changed much in a century. Life appears to move slower down here, yet it does not. Everyday I get in my car to drive to work, up to 30 different microchips spring into action to allow the smooth-running of my Jeep. I go to make a phone call while I ride, but first must pass the facial recognition shield protecting my mobile device. Far overhead, a ring of thousands of satellites are circling the Earth, constantly monitoring activity far below. It is at that moment it hits me again that we are living in very modern times, in fact, living in the future that writers, artists and filmmakers said would one day arrive. It is here. Headlines announcing Air Force pilots encountering UFOs barely get a notice anymore, everyone knows ‘they’ are here now, it’s become commonplace. We are the generation that sees the merging of man and machine, but we are also the generation that boards Flight #777 on Titus213 Airlines. That’s what time it is.

OpenAI disbands team devoted to artificial intelligence risks

FROM YAHOO! TECH NEWS: OpenAI weeks ago began dissolving the so-called “superalignment” group, integrating members into other projects and research, according to the San Francisco-based firm. Company co-founder Ilya Sutskever and team co-leader Jan Leike announced their departures from the ChatGPT-maker this week.

The dismantling of an OpenAI team focused on keeping sophisticated artificial intelligence under control comes as such technology faces increased scrutiny from regulators and fears mount regarding its dangers.

“OpenAI must become a safety-first AGI (artificial general intelligence) company,” Leike wrote Friday in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Leike called on all OpenAI employees to “act with the gravitas” warranted by what they are building. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman responded to Leike’s post with one of his own, thanking him for his work at the company and saying he was sad to see Leike leave.

“He’s right we have a lot more to do,” Altman said. “We are committed to doing it.”

Altman promised more on the topic in the coming days. Sutskever said on X that he was leaving after almost a decade at OpenAI, whose “trajectory has been nothing short of miraculous.”

“I’m confident that OpenAI will build AGI that is both safe and beneficial,” he added, referring to computer technology that seeks to perform as well as — or better than — human cognition.

Sutskever, OpenAI’s chief scientist, sat on the board that voted to remove fellow chief executive Altman in November last year.

The ousting threw the San Francisco-based startup into a tumult, with the OpenAI board hiring Altman back a few days later after staff and investors rebelled. OpenAI early this week released a higher-performing and even more human-like version of the artificial intelligence technology that underpins ChatGPT, making it free to all users.

“It feels like AI from the movies,” Altman said in a blog post.

Altman has previously pointed to the Scarlett Johansson character in the movie “Her,” where she voices an AI-based virtual assistant dating a man, as an inspiration for where he would like AI interactions to go.

The day will come when “digital brains will become as good and even better than our own,” Sutskever said during a talk at a TED AI summit in San Francisco late last year. “AGI will have a dramatic impact on every area of life.” READ MORE

While it may sound like an episode of Black Mirror, Americans can now purchase a flamethrower-wielding robot dog online from Throwflame called Thermonator.

Have you ever spent a hot, summer afternoon at a water park? I have, and it’s one of my favorite things to do. There is this curious moment that takes place after you enter into the water, right before the thundering force of the jets carry you forward. In that brief, little space, you are calm and peaceful, luxuriously basking in the cool water. Then you reach the main current and woosh!! you go at what feels like a million miles per hour. This is where we are right now with the incoming tide of AI and robot technology, in that brief little moment before the avalanche sweeps us inexorably forward into only God knows what’s coming next.

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.” Habakkuk 1:5 (KJB)

The opening years of the 20th century was an overwhelming outpouring of information and global travel and exploration, exactly as Daniel had foreseen in chapter 12 of his book. In America, so many new things were being invented that we felt that nothing was out of our reach, and that we were on the verge of create a thousand year reign of peace and prosperity. Many of the Christian scholars were amillennial, secure in their thinking that we were ‘bringing in the kingdom’. Then WWI hit, and the world watch as all that technology we had just invented was now being used to wage war as never seen before in entire annals of human history. Soldiers literally went insane watching the ‘benefits of modern technology’ helping them to live a ‘better and more prosperous life’. Now here in 2024 we have flamethrower-wielding robot dogs named Thermonator here to meet all our flamethrowing needs as Hell continues to enlarge itself. Check your watch, Christian, it’s later than you think.

Meet the Thermonator: First ever flamethrowing robot dog that shoots jets of fire up to 30 feet hits US market

FROM THE DAILY MAIL UK: Ohio-based Throwflame opened sales for its ‘Thermonator’ Tuesday, selling its 37-pound quadruped machine for $9,420 that is legal in all US states except Maryland. A demonstration video shows a Thermonator creeping and jumping through a forest before torching its surroundings with a 30-foot jet of fire spewing from a flame thrower on its back. Throwflame, based in Cleveland, claims to be the oldest flamethrower manufacturer in the US.

The company released the first-ever full-sized, commercially available flamethrower in 2015, which shoots flames up to 50 feet. ‘This unregulated flamethrower sparked a significant media response relating to legality,’ Throwflame shared on its website. ‘However, flamethrowers remain federally unregulated. This means anyone can buy one without background checks or a waiting period.’

Thermonator appears to be designed like most quadruped robots but has one of Throwflame’s devices attached to its back. The robot dog boasts a variety of cameras and sensors, allowing it to autonomously move throughout its surroundings and find targets to set ablaze. The machine is remotely operated – the demonstration video shows a handler controlling it with a smartphone.

Social media users have weighed in on the machine, comparing it to an episode in the fourth season of Black Mirror titled ‘Metalhead.’

The episode explores what could happen if these machines turned on us, revealing the terrifying quest for survival in a world where robo-dogs can outrun and outsmart humans. X user Rob Sheepe posted: ‘Some real-life Black Mirror ‘Metalhead’ terror right here. How is this legal?’

However, Maryland is the only US state that bans flamethrowers – California requires a permit to own one. Possessing or using a flamethrower in Maryland is punishable by a $250,000 fine and up to 25 years imprisonment.  In 2015, Congress introduced a bill that would treat flamethrowers like machine guns, but was stalled and later dismissed. Should You Be Scared? OpenAI Introduces Sora ‘Text-To-Video’ AI That Absolutely Stuns Social Media With Mind-Bending PhotoReality

SHARE NOW THE END BEGINS:

OpenAI is launching a new video-generation model, and it’s called Sora. The AI company says Sora ‘can create realistic and imaginative scenes from text instructions.’

Social media right now is on fire, in a total state of shock over the new hyper-realistic videos created in under 30 second by an AI program called Sora from OpenAI. It is the most-realistic AI video you’ve ever seen, and text-to-video technology is still very much in it’s infancy. For a comparison, think of how different things had been if the first plane successfully flown at Kitty Hawk would have done 60 miles-per-hour instead of the 6.8 MPH it actually did. That would have made for a completely different development curve. That’s Sora, and she’s here to blow your mind.

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Daniel 12:4 (KJB)

We are right now in a period of time where AI programs like Sora can be given a text prompt like “show me two kittens eating tacos in a snowstorm in August”, and in under 30 seconds you are looking at that video. What does that mean? It means that from this moment on, no photo can be trusted, no video believed, there is zero guarantee that anything we are shown from this point on is actually real. These text-to-video creations are starting hyper-realistic, but in a few months to a year they will be indistinguishable from an actual video or movie. AI is like that old movie ‘The Blob’ with Steve McQueen in the 1950’s. It’s oozing out of every crack and crevice, and there is no where to go to get away from it. AI is of the Devil, and it’s here to prepare the world for the arrival of Antichrist.

Now, the really mind-blowing part of all this is that the videos are created from words, spoken or typed, and the AI ‘gives birth’ to the video. God created everything using words. AI so very much has the fingerprint of the Devil all over it. Avoid it for as long as you can, but fair warning, soon it will be impossible to avoid.

OpenAI introduces Sora, its text-to-video AI model

FROM THE VERGE: Sora is capable of creating “complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion, and accurate details of the subject and background,” according to OpenAI’s introductory blog post. The text-to-video model allows users to create photorealistic videos up to a minute long — all based on prompts they’ve written.

The company also notes that the model can understand how objects “exist in the physical world,” as well as “accurately interpret props and generate compelling characters that express vibrant emotions.”

The model can also generate a video based on a still image, as well as fill in missing frames on an existing video or extend it. The Sora-generated demos included in OpenAI’s blog post include an aerial scene of California during the gold rush, a video that looks as if it were shot from the inside of a Tokyo train, and others. Many have some telltale signs of AI — like a suspiciously moving floor in a video of a museum — and OpenAI says the model “may struggle with accurately simulating the physics of a complex scene,” but the results are overall pretty impressive.

A couple of years ago, it was text-to-image generators like Midjourney that were at the forefront of models’ ability to turn words into images. But recently, video has begun to improve at a remarkable pace: companies like Runway and Pika have shown impressive text-to-video models of their own, and Google’s Lumiere figures to be one of OpenAI’s primary competitors in this space, too. Similar to Sora, Lumiere gives users text-to-video tools and also lets them create videos from a still image.

None of this is real either

Sora is currently only available to “red teamers” who are assessing the model for potential harms and risks. OpenAI is also offering access to some visual artists, designers, and filmmakers to get feedback. It notes that the existing model might not accurately simulate the physics of a complex scene and may not properly interpret certain instances of cause and effect. READ MORE
