Bibles Behind Bars is expanding our gospel literature lineup to include “CPR The Biblical Guide To Soul Winning”, “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” and “Justified Outlaw”

This is the third year of the Bibles Behind Bars program, and as it grows it’s also maturing as we respond to the needs of the chaplains, pastors and personal workers who write to us asking for Bibles. In 2024, with the Bibles we starting sending copies of “What Must I Do To Be Saved” with other gospel literature, and the chaplains were very happy to receive them. Then in November, the LORD gave us an opportunity to rebuild the entire inmate library at the Jefferson County Jail in Wisconsin. Now here in the opening month of 2025, the LORD is expanding our prison outreach yet again. Praise the LORD!!

“So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” Nehemiah 8:8 (KJB)

Prison ministry is hard work, and the people that God calls to that field labour very intently and intensely. Yes, the inmates need a King James Bible, that’s first and foremost, but in addition to that, as they get saved and grow, they need other literature to assist them in that process. How great would it be if the chaplains had access to excellent books like “CPR The Biblical Guide To Soul Winning”, and “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” Talk about a one-two punch! Rounding that out, and geared directly to the inmates, Roy Bell’s book “Justified Outlaw”, something that they can not only relate to, but hopefully see as a positive and motivational force for their spiritual growth.

One our Tuesday night Bible study program last night, I asked the people listening live in the chat room if they thought that this was something we should do, and the response was immediate and certain. Going forward with each new request for Bibles, we will also be sending copies of all three of these books. The chaplains who receive them can prayerfully decide how and when to distribute them to the inmates. At the moment, we are still raising funds to send Bibles to the Santa Rosa Correctional Institution, Northwest Florida Reception Center Main Unit, the Baker Re-Entry and Work Camp, and to the main Texas prison system under Chaplain CF Hazlewood.

We responded to his request with cases of the Ruckman Refence Study Bible, as well as a case of “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” by Dr. Bill Grady.

At 11:58 AM this morning, 2 minutes before the start of our Friday Podcast, an email came in from Chaplin Dyer at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center, and he said this: “NNCC is a medium custody men’s facility with approximately 12-1300 offenders here. I get requests all the time for King James Version Bibles and they are extremely hard to get donated to where I can hand them out. The Chapel doesn’t have a budget, so I have to get everything donated. Any help you could give me in this area, would be greatly appreciated by myself and the offenders.” Why is it so hard for jails and prisons to receive copies of God preserved word? Because nearly all of the established leaders active in ministries that publish and send out Bibles to inmates don’t want to send out the King James 1611 Authorized Version Holy Bible. But we sure do, lots of them!

“Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.” Jeremiah 30:2 (KJB)

What Chaplain Dyer told us is nothing new, in fact, we hear it all the time. As words continues to spread that Bibles Behind Bars sends King James Bibles out, more and more facilities have been reaching out to us for help. We responded to his request with cases of the Ruckman Refence Study Bible, as well as a case of “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” by Dr. Bill Grady. Did you know that NTEB purchases more Ruckman Reference Bibles than anyone else in the world? Praise the Lord, we do, and the amount we purchase on a yearly basis continues to increase because people like Chaplain Dyer can’t get help any place else. When you support the Free Bible Program and Bibles Behind Bars, this is what you’re helping to do.

At Bethany Baptist Church during our Sunday Service time, Bro. Ed recounted a story in Sunday School about praying in need of a “hug” from the LORD, however He wanted to work that out. The LORD responded to Ed’s prayer by sending him a blessing that exactly fit his need. He always does. At the NTEB Bookstore on Monday, a man came in after being told that this was a place where he could freely receive a copy of God’s preserved word, and when it was delivered the LORD had a hug for both parties.

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32 (KJB)

On Monday morning, I was in the back of the Bookstore in the Studio, testing the equipment and preparing the Monday Podcast, so I was not aware of what was happening up front. Intently focused on the work before me, I paid little attention to Lori coming in to sit at her desk, failing to notice that her eyes were moist with fresh tears. She sat for a moment then her voice snapped me to full attention, it was then I noticed her tears. When I asked what was the matter, Lori proceeded to recount for me what had just taken place up front. A man was sent over to our Bookstore, he was in great need of a Bible but unable to purchase one, and his friend had told him there was a place that could provide him with one. Lori showed him one or two of them, but the man quietly said his eyesight was so bad he was unable to see the print. Lori then handed him one with not just large print, but super giant print, and was pointing out the features of it, looking down at the Bible as she spoke. She noticed the man was quiet for a long moment, and when she looked up, his eyes were were quietly soaked with tears of joy. “I can see it”, he exclaimed, “I can see it!” I once was blind, and now I see, thank you LORD Jesus. Amen.

We give out so many thousands of Bibles, New Testaments, scripture portions and gospel tracts, it can become a little rote at times, due to not usually getting to meet or even see the persons on the other end receiving them. But on Monday, the LORD sent a man into our shop who needed a Bible but had a blessing to give us, a hug from the LORD. Reminding us of just how much this means to the people we give Bibles to. We rejoiced in tears of utter happiness. As if that wasn’t enough, we received a letter today from a young man in Texas that said this – “Please send me a free King James Bible, my name is Parker, I am 14 years old, and I need one very badly. Thank you very much and may God bless you and your ministry in Jesus Name, Amen”. When you support the Free Bible Program and Bibles Behind Bars, this is what you’re helping to do.
