Our goal this June is to send out 5,000 King James Bibles, Gomez Spanish Bibles, scripture portions and books to all the jails and prisons who have reached out to us

We’ve been telling you about the high number of requests we’ve received through Bibles Behind Bars this month, from jails and prisons who suddenly find themselves without a resource for Bibles and they’ve turned to us. They are happily surprised when they find out that, in addition to King James Bibles, we now also offer the Gomez Spanish Bible, scripture portions in both English and Spanish, gospel tracts, and great discipleship literature as well. Bibles Behind Bars is not only growing, we’re maturing, and it’s exciting to watch the Lord work it all out.

This week we sent Bibles, New Testaments and Scripture portions to the Laurel County Correctional Center in Kentucky, along with discipleship material as well. Gordon County Jail in Georgia was sent 500 King James Bibles, as well as books. The King James Bible Baptist Church with Brian Kelly in New York was sent Spanish Bibles and Scripture portions, with English Bibles on the way, too. Our goal for June is to send out 5,000 Bibles and books, and right now we are almost halfway there.

We still need support for the Catoosa County Jail in Georgia, Allen Correctional Center in Louisiana, and the Project South Africa request as well. All told that’s a little over 3,000 Bibles and books that are waiting to go out. If you have a passion for souls, come help us, we need you!

Bibles Behind Bars is currently experiencing a record-high number of requests for King James Bibles, New Testament, Spanish and Scripture portions, and we need your help to meet the need.

Time and again we receive emails from chaplains and volunteer prison ministers who for years had no problem getting Bibles, New Testaments and Scripture portions, but now are being told that paper is too expensive, shipping too high, and Bibles too costly to produce. This is creating a real problem who jail workers who now don’t have the tools they need when then go in to speak with the inmates. I believe God raised up Bibles Behind Bars for a reason, and that reason is to keep the supply lines open.

“Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” Jeremiah 1:12 (KJB)

Bro. Micah Hedges, the man who first contacted us regarding the need for Bibles up in Georgia back in 2021, wrote to me this week with this word of praise. “The supply of King James Bibles for the local county jail in this area have meant so much to us. We had been using Rock of Ages KJV New Testament but our supply had dried up. We now can provide Bibles to our inmates without fear of running out. We preach the gospel of the grace of God twice a week to these men.” Micah is involved with a Baptist Church network of chaplains and volunteers who together minister to a half dozen churches across north and central Georgia. They’re preaching, people are getting saved, and we are supplying them all with the Bibles and books they need. Praise the Lord! But this is just the tip of the iceberg as you can see below.

Here are a few of the requests from this week:

Chaplain James Smith at the Laurel County Correctional Center in Kentucky wrote “LCCC is a county facility that houses over 700 male and female county, state, and federal inmates. We have a small Spanish population at all times, with the majority of our population being federal inmates.” 

Chaplain Ricky Kennon of the Allen Correctional Center in Louisiana reached out and said “We are a state facility with just over 1500 inmates.” He’s not asking for 1,500, but he certainly needs a minimum of 500 Bibles.

Pastor Joe Hall of the Gordon County Jail in Calhoun, Georgia said “For the past 31 years, a team of Preachers & some women go in every Tuesday Night from 7 to 9:30pm at the Gordon County Jail in Calhoun, GA. To preach, Testify, or just talk to the in mates. I have not kept a number on the Bible’s. But this year we have gone through 4 distributors. We are having a hard time getting bibles now.” 

Chaplain Roger Kennard of the Catoosa County Jail in Ringgold, Georgia wants us to know “We need 50 Bibles for the meeting rooms and 100 to give to inmates as they request them. We need 10 Spanish Bibles.  We don’t have that many arrests of Hispanics. Weekly, we preach to around 100 with a total population of around 250”. 

Christian, the hour is late, the labourers are few, and the need for copies of God’s preserved word is greater than it’s ever been. Please take a moment to pray for our efforts, and even better, come and join us in this battles for the souls of men. We need you.

Pastor Joe and his team have been faithfully serving for 31 years with their group at the Gordon County Jail, and Bibles are nearly impossible to come by now

The jails in North Georgia are reaping a Bible bonanza as requests are flooding in and King James Bibles are being sent back out. So far, we have supplied Bibles and books to The Floyd County Jail, the Houston County Detention Center, the Cheetooga County Jail, the Whitfield County Jail and the Murray County Jail. This week, we’ve received additional requests from the Gordon County Jail and the Catoosa County Jail. All these facilities are located throughout north and central Georgia.

“And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.” Acts 13:49 (KJB)

Over at Gordon County, Pastor Joe wrote to tell us this “For the past 31 years, a team of Preachers & some women go in every Tuesday Night from 7 to 9:30pm at the Gordon County Jail in Calhoun, GA. To preach, Testify, or just talk to the in mates. I have not kept a number on the Bible’s. But this year we have gone through 4 distributors. We are having a hard time getting bibles now.” We hear that from so many chaplains and jail workers now, that it’s nearly impossible for the smaller jails – 150 to 550 inmates – to get their hands on much-needed Bibles and Christian literature. Pastor Joe and his team have been faithfully serving for 31 years with their group at the Gordon County Jail, and it’s an honor to help the supply lines open for them and all the others that Bibles Behind Bars serves. They need 500 Bibles. The Catoosa County Jail is the most recent facility to come aboard, and Bro. Roger there says “we have 250 inmates average, we need 50 Bibles for the meeting rooms and 100 to give to inmates as they request them. We need 10 Spanish Bibles.  We don’t have that many arrests of Hispanics. Weekly, we preach to around 100. Whatever you can give us is very much appreciated”.

As if all this wasn’t enough, the Lord has also led Project South Africa to our door, they have a shipping container heading out from Statesboro, Georgia in a few weeks, and would dearly love us to put a couple of thousand King James Bibles onboard. Wow, our cup truly is running over with opportunity to serve the Lord. To fully finance these three requests, it will take somewhere between $10-12,000 that will purchase between 2,500 to 3,500 King James Bibles divided up among the 3 groups. Come help us, we need you, and all these souls are counting on us.
