THE DAYS OF NOAH: The $100 Million Dollar Ark Encounter Opens To Worldwide Acclaim

After six years of legal, financial and public relations battles, the Ark Encounter welcomed more than 4,000 visitors by mid-afternoon Thursday, its first day open to the public, and officials expected many more before the ark closed at midnight. On the preview days for Ark supporters, crowds reached 8,300 on Tuesday and 7,000 on Wednesday.

The Ark Encounter and its sister attraction, the Creation Museum, present a biblical view of creation and what the organization describes as “the truth of Scripture.”

“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:26,27 (KJV)

The Bible says that in the end times it would be like it was in the ‘days of Noah’, the days of the Nephilim and the days of the Ark. Today, a full-scale rendering of Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible, after years of prayer and planning had its ribbon cutting ceremony. Noah’s Ark is once again on the Earth. To say I find that interesting would be a gross understatement.

As visitors bustled about the third deck of an imposing Noah’s Ark replica, Faye Toler sat in quiet reflection. She rode a bus all the way from Pensacola, Fla., with other seniors from East Brent Baptist Church for opening day of the Ark Encounter, which features a full-size ark as described in the Bible’s book of Genesis.

“It actually takes you – and I was surprised to see this – from the beginning to the very end for the crucifixion” of Jesus, Toler said, looking across the vast expanse of timber. “To me, it’s seeing God’s word fulfilled. … It’s awesome just to see the size of it. We have electricity, equipment. And they were doing all this by hand. To me, that is unimaginable.

“It’s a place you’ve heard of. You want to go see it. Just like the Great Wall of China.”

The $100 million first phase of the attraction, with the ark as its centerpiece, is billed as a family-oriented experience. Visitors see Noah’s family in prayer at the start of the flood. Screeching, roaring and tweeting noises can be heard as guests make their way through exhibits that show the different types of creatures aboard the ark.

Another part of the exhibit shows how Noah’s family lived on the ark and took care of the animals. The attraction is the latest outreach effort of Answers in Genesis, a nonprofit ministry that believes in a literal interpretation of the Bible from the first verse.

People from across the United States and the world – Scotland, Switzerland, Australia and England – traveled to the controversial attraction in Grant County to see Disney-worthy displays and meet other like-minded believers.

The explanation-heavy displays aim to convey the belief that the Bible is factual, not just allegorical.

The Ark Encounter and its sister attraction, the Creation Museum, present a biblical view of creation and what the organization describes as “the truth of Scripture.”

In a view that runs contrary to mainstream science, the group believes the account of the Earth’s origins presented in Genesis is a simple but factual presentation of actual events: that the world was created in seven consecutive, 24-hour days, that it is 6,000 years old, and that the great flood described in the Bible was an actual, worldwide event. The group believes that fossils were created by the flood and that dinosaurs and humans lived at the same time.

Along with the believers and those just curious about the architecture of the ark, about 150 protesters stood with signs along the highway exit just up the road from the park. They included atheists, free thinkers and others opposed to the up to $18 million in state tourism tax incentives the Ark Encounter may receive.

“This is an important protest,” said Dave Silverman, president of American Atheists, a national organization. “This is the mass dumbing down of children at taxpayers’ expense. This is one man’s vision of his personal religious beliefs plus $100 million. And they’re using that money to push something that is provably wrong onto our children in this country.”

Silverman said the ark makes Christians and Christianity look ignorant.

“I’m here to ask the Christians of Kentucky to rise up and realize that they are being hurt by something that is promoting ignorance in the name of their religion,” he said. source

Praise God for the vision of Ken Ham. I love his presentation of origins and agree wholeheartedly with it. I hope the Ark Encounter is wildly successful in bringing this message to the country and the world.

  • John33

Well for all the folks who say the bible is a fairytail or not true or elieve in evolution sorry but nasa has brought out that the bible is 100% accurate on everything!! Yes you heard it Nasa ad it even lines up with all the archeological findings plus timelines and yet people still wont believe.

  • CHAR

I wonder if Mr. Silverman gives the Muslims equal protests. Does he stand in front of a mosque every time they build one to protest? I kinda doubt it. They’d snuff him out in a second. Some people have nothing else to do but to make more problems. I would LOVE to go see this Ark. God Bless the Ark Encounter for taking on this overwhelming task of building it.

    • DeniseC

I thought the same thing, Char. How many secular or other-than-Christian monuments does Joe Taxpayer have to fund and can’t do a thing about it? No, in America we honor a gay bar (Stonewall) and belittle the bible. Signs of the times, but you know what? Signs of Jesus coming to take us out of this cesspool. Yeah!

  • Howdy Y’all, Well, let me see…evolution teaches us–and our kids–that we came from rocks. Now that sounds kinda dumb. Silver says that the ark experience is one man’s religion being pushed on society…has math is suspect at best. There are more Christians in the world who actually walk the walk than there are atheists. So it seems like his theology is being pushed on the world as well. Also, Silverman would be hard-pressed to show that there are droves of people leaving Christianity rather than the opposite. He is a GOD-hater and nothing more. I would invite Silverman to actually PROVE that the ark and Christianity are wrong as he so smugly states. What a toad… Blessings, BuffaloBilly

    • Dean

Nicely stated BuffaloBilly! Bless you friend!

    • BuffaloBill, I believe your math is a tad bit fuzzy. “More Christians in the world walking the walk than there are atheists??” Not even close!
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are MANY WHO ENTER THROUGH IT. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and THERE ARE FEW WHO FIND IT.” (Mat. 7:13-14)

      • Howdy jtilii, My math is just fine. The verses you quote apply to more than atheists, but to worshippers of other gods, hypocrites, and the 90% of Christianity that plays church (Matt 7:21-23 applies to those types of “Christians” and others). There are about 150 million Christians who actively walk the walk and are considered true believers. I sincerely doubt that there are that many atheists alive today. Thank-you for your kind critique. Blessings, BuffaloBilly PS 150 million Bible-believing Christians is “few” when compared to the world’s population of 7 Billion people. Do the math.

  • kelliepage

Why visit Disneyland when we have this beautiful truth to experience? I would very much like to load up the kids and travel from Louisiana to Kentucky to see the Ark Experience. As for the athiest protesters, when Jesus descends from the clouds these fools will be high-tailing it to the Ark, in the hopes of being saved! Alas, they will have had their chance…unless they realize The Truth now. Bless their hearts…and I really mean that.

  • Leslie Beaumont

Blessings to all who had this vision, and to all who visit the ark…someday I hope to see it in person. To the Mr. Silvermans of this world I say, please read the scientific research and writings of CMI.

Of course the UNGODLY Atheist have to rear their Ugly Serpent head up like their Daddy Satan to protest like good little minions of Evil, Daddy Satan is proud of them and their “PRIDE” of SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS has them sliding down that into the PIT.

  • Sue

Is it raining yet? I see the clouds. I think I feel a couple of raindrops…it’s coming…the days of Noah.

    • Thank God that the Rapture comes first!

      • Secret Rapture? All I see in God’s word is the rapture at Christ’s second coming. Days of Noah? Sodom and Gomorrah, everything seems pretty normal doesn’t it. Peace and safety all the inhabitants will say, until sudden destruction comes upon all. The second coming of Christ will be like a thief in the night. We are told to be prepared, if we are whisk away in some secret rapture, why does he ask us to be prepared? Because, we do not know what hour he will return. I know you threw that secret rapture in to get a bite, so I took it.

        • Howdy jrt, Well, allow me to opine…Scripture says that at HIS second coming, every eye shall see him…nothing secret about that. To an unbelieving world, Jesus will come like a thief in the night at the rapture of the church. We are to be prepared spiritually for this event and are admonished to be prepared in several texts like Timothy, Thessalonians, and Titus. Many who play church will not be ready for the rapture and , along with the unbelievers and hypocrites, will enter the tribulation period. One thing that a majority of Christians fail to recognize is that our GOD is a HOLY GOD and no sin can exist in HIS presence. Christians who are practicing sin and in disobedience to GOD will get a rude awakening. If I was near my Bible, I would give you specific scriptures, but I am in the lobby of a motel as I am trav eling and this is the only place that I can get a strong wifi signal. Check out the texts. Blessings, BuffaloBilly

  • Jesus said that the world would mirror the days of Noah and Lot at the time of His return. He connected the rainbow of Noah’s day to the homosexuality of Lot’s day. In the biblical account of Lot, the rainbow had not been associated with the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, nor was homosexuality specifically named as one of the sins of Noah’s day. The combination of the rainbow symbol of Noah’s day representing the homosexuality of Lot’s day seems to have been reserved for a specific time in history… our day; just as Jesus warned. Let’s let this new attraction be a visible reminder that Jesus is coming back for us soon. Maranatha!

Psalms 14:1 says all that needs to be said about Mr. Silverman

  • JA

Ohh wow.. That’s really cool.. I would love to see that!!Where is that at, in Kentucky? ohhh boy.. times are getting exciting… I believe Jesus, Our Blessed Hope, is coming to get us VERRRRYYYYYYYY soon!! My heart breaks for those that this article mentions at the end… the unbelievers, I mean… they have nooo idea.. My heart starts to beat in fear even thinking what their future will be like without God.. Ohh that frightens me, I couldn’t even imagine.

  • How about a study that adds even greater credibility to the Holy Word of GOD, including the Great Flood account which exists in most ancient cultures worldwide? Ponder prayerfully with humility and an open mind and heart: https://zionsgate.wordpress.com/2015/07/08/earths-earliest-ages-book-review/

No tax payers money was used..thank you God for the insight into Noah’s day, the days of destruction, as a result of their sins..the true meaning of the rainbow..
and for the people who were involved in this mass production..made possible by the Almighty..
come quickly and deliver us from this evil

  • Anon

I always wonder why atheist have to protest something they don’t believe in. I would have to say that it’s because something inside is telling them that God and the Bible are true. The mockers and scoffers are out in full force, just like in the days of Noah. All I can say is that the age of grace is about to end, and I would hope that many would come to repentance before that happens. This is not the time to willfully reject our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Time is very short for accepting Christ; if not, your eternity is to be forever separated from Him in a place that no one would wish on their worst enemy. Something to think about. Maranatha.

  • Jesus is my ark!

  • Good reminder to the world about the Ark but is it going to be a reminder for comin end of days?

from all proof, evidence and from the Word of GOD, NO! people are to BUSY with living in this World (maybe this is their home) for the signs & birth pangs are happening every day.. BUT if you are not LOOKING for the LORDS Appearing you may miss it.

  • Steve from Australia

For those of you who don’t know, Ken Ham is an Australian. He was recently ridiculed here again as the opening of the ark was drawing near. I have been through Kentucky in the past and perhaps I may get a chance to go there again. If I do this would be my first port of call. My prayer is that those who do not believe in Jesus and what the Bible teaches us will be changed when they take a tour through here. I believe it will change the hearts of many.

  • Carollyn

It should be on everybody’s bucket list. The admission should be FREE for self-avowed atheists and agnostics 🙂

  • Sour Dove

Thanks be to Noe for preserving the liver fluke, the hookworm, leprosy and plague. I wonder which family member was selected to carry these vital gifts of our loving Creator. Which one saved the blessings of toxoplasmosis and giardia for future generations to enjoy?

    • Larry/vietnamvet1971

IF you are trying to be cute & funny you are NOT…you are Blaspheming against GOD and He says WOE unto you. You need to Repent, GOD never forgets UNLESS you Repent.

    • This world is cursed from the fall of man(Adam) in the garden and with it original sin. Noah and his family were of Adam and brought the curse and original sin with them.

  • Sour Dove

[Elohim]: “Now, Noe, this isn’t going to be easy. Your job is to find a way to save each and every STD from extinction, so that after I invent refraction, you can spread them far and wide while enjoying the occasional light show. Now ask your family for volunteers, and figure out how to give them the blessings of chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes and HIV, so that these gifts of love will keep on giving.

Then tell your children to have sex with each other and make babies as fast as they can. It’s the only way to save the world. From Us, the Holy Elohim.

You need two microbes for bacterial diseases, but seven each of viral infectors, because I’ll need you to sacrifice some of the critters you saved right after I change my mind about killing everything. Make sense? Tough.”

    • Larry/vietnamvet1971

what is the matter not having enough fun Blaspheming against GOD, Boy you are in trouble.

    • Sour Dove, come judgment day you will regret saying these words and not excepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior!

Repent while you can, remember, if we are wrong we may have wasted our life, but if you are wrong, you have wasted your eternity!

God is real, he sent his precious son Jesus to die for our sins on that cross. He rose again on the 3rd day and sits at the right hand of the Father today. He did that FOR YOU!

Accept his free and easy gift of Salvation.

  • Sour Dove, Jesus can heal you if only you make him your Source and His Finished Work ( the Object of your Faith ). All of the diseases you have mentioned can be healed. God has given us Free Will to choose him or not. Everyone goes through the crucible of suffering because they at that time chose to do evil and suffer the consequences. However some people suffered because of original sin (the Sin Nature which drives Mankind). The Sin Nature is why we need Jesus. By identifying with Jesus and His Finished Work we all can have victory over sin if we believe. God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit love you. Jesus loves you enough to die on a cruel Cross for you. Please turn to Him and accept Him into your heart as Lord and Savior.

  • Where does it say we have free will to choose salvation or not? We are dead in our trespasses and sins. DEAD, ever heard DOR it means dead in arrival. We are born spiritually dead. All you need to preach is the Gospel and God will do the rest. Don’t promise healing, 2 cars in every garage etc, just Christ and the resurrection.

    • John 3:15-18—That whosoever believes( There is a choice of believing or not,) in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have Eternal Life. 16) For God so loved the world, that he gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever Believes in Him should not perish but have Eternal Life. 17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world Through Him might be saved, 18) He who believes on Him is not condemned: but he who believes Not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the Only Begotten Son of God. Only Begotten refers to the Incarnation. Jesus in these passages says we can choose to believe or not. Jesus and God the Father do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked except that they turn and live ( Ezekiel 18:23 and Ezekiel 33:11 ). Jesus is the only one who heals through His Finished Work on the Cross. I am pointing to Jesus and His Finished Work on the Cross. The Cross (His Work in Dying for us) provided all we need including healing. The list is too long to provided everything.

  • tuk

Sourdove….your ignorance of this subject is senseless…why don’t you carry your comments on over to another website where they might enjoy your confusing satire….duh

    • Perhaps you can explain how to count microscopic creatures before inventing lenses. You’re right: I don’t know how.
I also don’t see the point of saving an innocent animal just to sacrifice it, let alone requiring or celebrating the torture and murder of anyone’s innocent child. I oppose those practices; perhaps you can explain why Yahweh/Adonai/El Shaddai/Elohim rewarded them.

      • Howdy Sour Dove, Your posts kinda reek of sarcasm resulting from confusion. You are asking others to do your work for you rather than finding out for yourself. I will do as you ask and explain: Turn to the Book of Genesis in the King James Version of GOD’S HOLY WORD. Turn to Chapter 7;14-16. While you read, focus on the words “male and female” in verse 16. Germs, bacteria, viruses are not male and female, but asexual (Obama’s next challenge to legitimize). Also, focus on the words “of all flesh” in the same verse. Germs, bacteria, and viruses are not flesh. Look in verse 15 and focus on the words “wherein is the breath of life”. Germs, bacteria, and viruses do not have the breath of life (they don’t breathe). Also, you will see the words “of all flesh” written in that verse. GOD repeats for emphasis. Look in verse 14 and focus on “every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth and after his kind”. Germs, bacteria, and viruses do not creep upon the earth. Now look at verses 21-22. Focus on the words “All flesh died that moved upon the earth”. I shouldn’t have to explain now. Read all of verse 22 and focus on the entire passage. It should be self-explanatory. Your caustic verbiage about the BIBLE and your venomous insinuations about my – and the LORD of others on this strand is way out of line and not appreciated…and suggest a lack of intelligence on your part. You could have gotten the same information with a more amiable tone and sincere question. The method you chose speaks volumes about you and is not very flattering. I recommend that you read Chapters 6 and 7 in their entirety and see what you can glean from that. You do owe some people (and me) an apology for your offense. We will all wait to see if there is any character in you. Kindly, BuffaloBilly

        • Buffalo, excellent post. I could not have explained it better and I have just High School Biology knowledge to depend on. Which with Diabetes I tend to forget sometimes. Thank you for your help and advice.

          • Howdy Steven, No problem. I just had to address his/her issues and get him/her on the right track. As I told another blogger, I just let the HOLY SPIRIT guide me into what to reply to and comment on and that was one that needed to be addressed. Blessings to you my Brother, BuffaloBilly

      • The lamb typified Jesus. Any lamb would not do. The lamb or any sacrificed animal had to be exactly perfect no illness or blemish. Jesus is the ONLY PERFECT HUMAN Being and He is God the Father ( Mighty God, Everlasting Father–Isaiah 9:6 ). The sacrifice had to be flawless. ONLY Jesus was because He and ONLY He defeated the Sin Nature. He can still heal you. We just need to believe. It may not be His Will at any given moment. It doesn’t mean He will not heal. He will heal a lot of people through the Rapture or First Resurrection. Please accept Jesus in your heart. He can change us. He changes us from being mean to being gentle, kind, patient and humble. We all live in a Fallen World thanks to Adam and Evil not obeying God’s Word. Jesus obeyed the Word of God–the Old Testament and walked in Fellowship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Please come to Jesus. He is waiting for us.
