Catholics Flock To Worship Apparition Of The Virgin Mary In New Jersey Tree
Eager to visit the “Mary Tree”
“Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry… Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious. (Acts 17:17,22)

Faithful folks in West New York, N.J., say a section of bark on a city tree is an apparition of the mother or Christ.
Part of the Catholic faith is the belief in the apparitions and certain miracles of the Church’s version of the Mary the mother of Christ. Many visions start off as something seen and experienced by a faithful Catholic which will later on become approved by the Vatican itself after an “investigation.” Although not all visions, apparitions and other mystical experiences are approved by the Magisterium as “authentic,” many of the Catholic faithful hold in their hearts what they believe is a “miracle” from the Virgin Mary.
The practice of venerating or worshiping the Catholic Mary is widespread. Apparitions happen all over the world as well as in different ways. People pray to Mary to ask for help from her “co-redemptive” role in salvation. All over the world, the Catholic faithful believe that Mary hears the prayers of many worldwide and that she is able to “convince” her son, Jesus, to have mercy on a soul. This belief, however, does not coincide with the Bible’s teaching that only GOD is omnipresent and omniscient. With all the Catholic faithful believing that Mary can and will hear prayers from everyone all over the world, they are simply practicing no less than the sin of IDOLATRY, of which they worship something OTHER THAN God who ALONE is worthy of all praise.
“I feel it in my heart…” is what Elba, one of the first to spot the image, said when asked how she knew it was the Lady of Guadalupe that is carved on the tree trunk. Like many other mystical experiences of the rest of the Catholic faithful, Johanna’s reply obviously fail to recognize the Truth found in God’s Word alone… ”The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)
As the end times bible prophecies continue to become fulfilled before our very eyes these last days, the enemy of Jesus also continues to make sure many will be deceived into believing the lie instead of Truth. We are living in the brink of the Rapture and many souls are continually being deceived away from Truth! May we hearken the Word of the LORD in John 17:17 which tells us clearly that God’s Word IS Truth… and it will be the ONLY source of Truth one may ever find in this world.
WEST NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY — Hundreds of Catholic faithful and curious onlookers descended on a West New York street Thursday, eager to visit a tree that many are convinced bears an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Virgin Mary as honored in Mexico. The crowds gathered around the tree on Bergenline Avenue, leaving piles of flowers and praying as they touched the tree.
“As soon as I got here, I felt this rush when I saw it, this rush from my body,” said Barbara Questel of West New York. “It’s such an amazing feeling.”
Johanna Ramos was among the first to spot the image earlier in the week.
“It took me awhile, but when I realized the colors and shape of it, it was really noticeable,” she said.
The crowds grew so large, police set up barricades to protect people waiting in line from traffic.
“It’s excellent,” said Bacher Archnir of West New York. “A lot of people come and believe.”
Visitors to the tree lingered into the night. Barricades around the tree will remain, as police expect the number of visitors to grow. – Source – Guy Rosendale, MSNBC

Sad to see how people are lost, they are like children trying to find the way home and meanwhile they have in their hands the map that will lead them home, it is called the Holy Bible.
I don’t see it, and I’m not sure how this bears an image to anything really. Even if it did slightly resemble a figure why are people so stupid to automatically assume its the virgin Mary? Weirdos
about 11 months ago
I didn’t see it either.

It must work like the Rorshach Test, to which some therapists refer jokingly, “the Roaring Shock Test”.

Are you kidding me? Come on catholics! Give me a break! I was raised catholic. It further confirms in me why I am no longer a catholic. Because I am free indeed in Christ alone.

people will fall down and worship ANYTHING…..
the sad part is that they don’t worship THE REAL GOD.
Interesting comment, about the real god. Mine is the Father, Son[Jesus Christ] and Holy Spirit, the Trinity. What’s yours?

So how do they know what Mary even looks like, so that they would know?
James,
She looks like that hole in the tree. You telling me you can’t see that?
I too, grew up in the Roman Catholic church. And today I know that it is full of false teachings, idol worship, and control of people by fear and imtimidation. I hope some True Christians go to this city and like Paul, tell these people of false idol worship and what true faith in Jesus can do for them.

You are all wrong – there is no God. At least not one we should worship blindly like you all seem to. If God is omniscient then even before we are born God will have complete knowledge of every decision we are going to make.
Any apparent choice we make regarding the acceptance or denial of Jesus as a savior is predetermined. This must be true to satisfy the assertion that God is omniscient. Effectively we have no choice in the matter. What we think is free will is an illusion. Our choices have been coerced since we exist and act according to the will of God.
Alternatively if human free will is valid, meaning that the outcome of our decisions is not pre-determined or coerced, then God cannot be omniscient, since he would not know in advance our decisions.
yes, God has complete knowledge of every decision we make. The choice to choose or reject Jesus is not predetermined, it is already known, there is a difference. We do have a choice. God does not interfere with our actions/decisions, and I would argue that people do not act according to the will of God. If they did, there would be no sin. No crime, no people starving to death or living on the streets etc. Your argument is not very strong. Human free will is valid, you just have to look at our society to see the evidence! God does know our decisions in advance, he just chooses not to interfere.

Interesting topic. You will go to your grave, then, clutching your free will. After that…oh…what a surprise.

OK Haze. Have it your way. There is no God. Everything just happened in a big ol bang! And that everything after that through an unbelievable mathematical equation of probabilities, everything perfectly evolved into every single leaf, cell, life form into what we have today. That is what the Atheist has to believe…oh…and explain to me how the big bang happened in the first place.
And do you then assert that you have the authority to lay out the moral laws of which we live in today? If so, what it is your ultimate source of authority to allow you to make those laws? You?
And of course you never lied, or stole or cheated or maligned anyone’s character or coveted others peoples property where you had to no right to do so….or maybe you think you did by some vested authority you came upon. If all is true above, then I guess I can claim you as my ultimate authority and rely solely on you? I don’t think so Hazel.
Go ahead and rely on you sick twisted view of the eternal whatever that is. Oh wait a minute… that’s right. you wouldn’t have an eternal view. Sorry my bad. It would take way to much faith on my part to believe in the nonsense that the you, the atheist spew out.
And beside…why do you care what I or any other believers believes in anyway in the first place? As far as you are concerned, at death, there is an absolute end to anything that you are and no consequences to any decision you made. Right or wrong. So why waste time even talking to us believers?
Here’s the rub for you. You see because of my faith, I believe in Christ and Christ alone as the maker of all and the finisher of all. When I die and if I am wrong, then no big deal right. I don’t exist anymore. But I still lead a life of caring, giving, compassion and love because I believed it to be right and true and I and those around me benefited from it.
But for you on the other hand, if you die and your are wrong, you will spend and eternity in hell and rightfully so because you rejected what God gave you as a gift which the same chance to eternal life that has been give to me and everyone else.
Its your choice. As for me my house, we will serve the Lord.

You guys do realize that the Catholic church is the ONLY church started by Jesus himself while he was on this earth, right? Catholics may ask for the intercession of the Virgin Mary, but she is not worshipped as your article states. This is very misleading and you give all Catholics a bad name by doing this. Shame on you.
You are so right Wanda! I, too, am Catholic. Indeed, Mary, the mother of Jesus is venerated and not worshiped! Is it not the 4th Commandment…Honor thy father and they mother…! Mary is Jesus mother, thereby making her the most special woman who ever walked this earth! Do not dishonor her with lies! She loves us as much as her Son does and wants nothing bad to happen to His children here on Earth! God bless and save this beautiful land we call America.
Wanda, you are living in a dream world. If Catholics do not worship Mary, why do you pray to her? Why does just about every Catholic church have a shrine dedicated to her? Why do Catholics come out in droves to see a grilled cheese sandwich or a knot in a tree that “appears” to look like the image of Mary? The church that Jesus started was not the Catholic church but the Church of believers in Jesus Christ. The Catholic church is so wrapped up in traditions, and down right unscriptural teaching that if Jesus were to step into a Catholic church, he would turn the alter over, knock down the statues that you all pray to, and rebuke the leaders of the church for leading the flock astray.
Dear ladies, please allow a word from St. Paul, Romans 8:26:
” Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is the One. This is not to disparage your affection for Mary. There’s simply no word in the Bible about Mary as intercessor.

The devil made them do it? What a joke so said to see so many people fall for another lie from Satan.
Wanda,
This is rediculous. First, there was no catholic church with Peter and Peter was not the first pope as some try to proclaim. There was the church of “The Way” which were the first followers of Christ.
Secondly, there was no vicar (Right hand of authority of God on earth) until it was self proclaimed by Constantine in 312 AD. He converted to Christianity and self proclaimed the title.
Thirdly, Mary is wrongfully venerated and worship as fist the mother of God. I was brought up and taught to worship Mary. Where is the bible does God bestow that title on her? She was sinner as she proclaimed in Luke 1:47 and her need for a savior.
The doctrine of the immaculate conception wasn’t established until later. Pope Pius IX declared the Immaculate Conception of Mary an article of faith on this day, December 8, 1854. According to his pronouncement in Ineffabilis Deus. Up until that point, it did not exist as official church doctrine.
I could go on and on about the doctrines and dogmas in the church that in my opinion have heretic routes and foundations. I realize that you may not like hearing this and it would offend you.
No where in the bible does God even allude that we are to pray to dead people. Exodus 20:1-15 And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,
Christ alone is our cry as believers. No one should pray to dead people, angles or anything else.
My brother is a former RCC priest. When I challenged him on the veracity of the RCC teachings, he ran away from me because the word of God (bible) exposed the lies.
I am not ashamed regardless of what you say. I would only hope that you will set your feelings aside and read the bible and test the truth of scriptures and God will reveal himself to you. The burden is upon you not us to show these things are true that you believe are in the RCC.

Catholic means universal. It fits with all the popes’ assertions this church is the only original, true and universal Christian faith. The problem was it wouldn’t reform itself when it go off base.

VAL that was great and true. Praying to the dead is strictly forbidden in the Bible. Deuteronomy 18:11 tells us that anyone who “consults with the dead” is “detestable to the Lord.” The story of Saul consulting a medium to bring up the spirit of the dead Samuel resulted in his death “because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance” (1 Samuel 28:1-25; 1 Chronicles 10:13-14). Clearly, God has declared that such things are not to be done.

Mary was chosen by God to be a part of His plan to bring salvation into an evil world. God was that salvation and an angle told Mary the child (God) she was to bear was to be named Jesus. Mary was blessed to be a part of God’s plan and its so sad that this world to this day has so many people who are still blind to the truth…..
I certainly do believe in the virgin Mary’s immaculate conception. The problem lies with the Catholic Church’s doctrine, once they learned of DNA, that she was without original sin. Of course, Mary was a regular person of regular parents. Jesus referred to Himself as “The Last Adam”. His DNA was completely pure and free of original sin, the rest of humanity. But St. Luke went ahead and traced Jesus’ kingly pedigree all the way back to Adam on both sides, for the benefit of the Jews, to show that He fulfills Kingdom prophecy as the seed of David and Abraham.

I meant to say: His DNA was completely pure and free of original sin, unlike the rest of humanity.

WHERE do you people find that us Catholics are told to worship Mary??? Nothing is further from the truth! The 4th Commandment says to “honor thy father and they mother”..why then do you people feel it is appropriate to dishonor Mary, THE EARTHLY MOTHER OF JESUS!???? IF you are not Catholic or a former Catholic who misunderstood the faith, please refrain from bad mouthing something you don’t understand! God bless all of you!
I admire Mary very much! Imagine the privilege of raising Jesus. Were it not for Mary “hiding these things in her heart”, we would know next to nothing about Jesus’ early years. Jesus made sure Mary would be taken care of even while He was on the cross, he said to St. John, “Behold your mother.” What concerns me as a Protestant, is that Catholics do pray to her and other saints. If not, please correct me! If you read Jesus’ parable of Divas and Lazarus, Jesus was clear: there is no communication between the living and the dead. So how such prayers help?
Deborah,
I will not refrain or restrain myself in any manner. I was brought up catholic. I have challenged many catholics on this issue and like or not, they don’t appreciate my challenges and then it reduces to these kinds of statement like you and Wanda put out. This is what happens. It is idolatry and you MUST repent of it. I am saying this because God wants NOTHING between you and himself. Regardless of how nice it sounds and how many times it has been repeated.
I had stated before that my brother is a former catholic priest/theologian. I have continually brought up the practice of Mary worship to him and he literally has had no answer to my challenges. When you kneel down and pray to her, what is that? Is Mary some type of superior being that God created into a special class all onto herself? Where is the biblical reference to that? She was born into sin just like anyone else.
Josef was right. Mary was the most special and significant woman ever. She was blessed among all women of which I am forever grateful. I am very much looking forward to meeting her in heaven. But she is not the person who the roman catholic church portrays her to be.
Are you saying that we can’t count on Christ as being all sufficient and that we need an extra being to pray to? Where does the bible say that? Did Jesus say to you, go to my earthly mother and pray to her to intervene between you and him and the father? Where is the scripture to support that?
Where in the bible does it say that Mary was sinless? If that were the case, then she should have been the one crucified on the cross because then SHE would have been the spotless one and could capitulate for our sins. But no. She herself confessed her need and desire for the savior. Luke 1:47. Are you saying that Jesus not sufficient now? That is heresy if you believe otherwise.
I understand alright. I understand what God’s word says. We have the story of two Marys here. There is the Mary of the bible and then you have the completely distorted and twisted roman catholic version. You have to chose which one you believe and is your version supported by scripture. Can we at least agree on that?
No. I will not be silenced. I will put out the same challenge to you as I did for Wanda. Show me the extra biblical revelation about Mary that does not violate Gods word. You can’t. Nor could my theologian brother. Why? Because it doesn’t exist. That is the wonderful thing about God holy word. He is absolutely wonderful and he never lies.
Repent Wanda and Deborah and receive the absolutes of Jesus’s promises and turn away from your idolatry. Because what you do with the ROC version of Mary is sin. I am not saying this to be mean although you may think I am being that way. I am saying it because we are commanded to point out sin and false heretical teachings. It cost you dearly in your relationship with God.

This is what the RCC catechism has to say about Mary
* II. DEVOTION TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN
971 “All generations will call me blessed”: “The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.”515 The Church rightly honors “the Blessed Virgin with special devotion. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . . . This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration.”516 The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary.517
Pretty twisted

To know God and His Christ Jesus of Nazareth is not a simple task.If Christians’ discussions is like this I wonder what the Lord will say to you.All of you are injuring the Body of Christ with false assumptions and some become like a real pharisee as in the time of Jesus forgetting and denying and opposing the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church for the past 2000 years. In these horrible days it is better to be united and praying for our love ones.

Lest we forget…it is not the work of God or the Holy Spirit to suppress the Bible translated into local language, impose worldly edicts, sell indulgences, stand in the place of Jesus to hear confessions, torture out a confession of faith, burn at the stake, drown, hang, mutilate or behead those reformers, who belonged to the body of Christ, as well.
I thank you, Luther, Huss, Calvin, the Puritans, and all the Englishmen who translated the King James Bible!
Sonya –
The King James Bible was not merely a translation of the original writings of the true bible. Many factors and chapters were changed or omitted entirely by the people you refer to as “translators”.
This is comparable to what occurred when King Henry the 8th broke away from the Catholic church. He didn’t want to follow certain doctrine, so he changed this new “religion” to accommodate the changes he wanted to practice. The same goes for the King James Bible. It is not the true representation of the original bible; it has been altered according to the whims of man.

Well, then…you follow your Biblia Sacra Vulgata and I’ll follow my King James Bible, thanks just the same.

Hey, it’s tough being a Judas Priest; got to tell Parishioners what to think:
On your knees, stand-up, sit-down, patty-cake, greet one another with a cold handshake.
High-five here, low-five there, Holy Bible–not allowed to tell you what’s inside there.
Pray for the Sinners, pray to the Saints, worship Mary, One hour Mass (that’s all you need) what’s the hurry?
O’Danny boy, O’Danny boy-toy can you stay late? I want to express my love for you isn’t that great? It’s our little secret, even when I’m done, cuz’ I don’t want to wind up with those other Priests in prison.
Is that an apparition or just a carpet stain, what’s that on my cheese sandwich, what’s Mary really sayin? As long as you’re diverted your mind will be off the perverted and Judas Priest can continue telling Parishioners what to say, do, and think.
In His Service,

Thanks Bro. Its thankless sometimes to take on issues like this. I am extremely passionate about this issue. I am passionate that I am never ever again going to allow anyone or any institution to get in between me and Jesus. He is my only path. Not the baloney poison that the RCC spews out.
Judgment will come upon that institution and that time may not be far from now. But the Catholic can chose to follow the Lord instead of false doctrine and dogma.
Val, you are welcome to your opinion, however, this does not mean what you have stated is fact.
I’m tired of the media, former Catholics who – for whatever reason – have walked away from the church – and other religions who make assumptions about our teachings making erroneous statements about the Catholic Church. I’m not going to argue back and forth with you about the issue. That was not my intent. I’m strictly stating a fact.

It’s very sad. It shows how starved people are for a sign, some kind of comfort in our times, so horrid, and so saturated with evil. BTW, you all are aware the Shroud of Turin is a fake, right?
“The Shroud of Turin was made by medieval artist Giotto, it was claimed yesterday. The 14ft length of fabric, said to be the burial cloth of Christ, bears a faint image of a man and appears to be stained by blood. However carbon-dating tests have suggested it was produced between 1260 and 1390.”

Sonya – There are many false claims, and many are made in the media. Even the Pope has been misquoted by the media. Please don’t believe everything you read. There are scientific findings that support the Shroud of Turin is real. The media is slanted, and as many of us know, they bash anything religious (regardless of the type of religion.) Pray for the gift of discernment so you are not led astray.

Wanda, I would be pleased to have you pray for me. I do know, the media is a propaganda mill. One of the things my family and I found when we came to Jesus Christ, is that not all believers are on the same page. God works in mysterious ways. If the Shroud of Turin serves to reinforce your faith in Jesus Christ, so be it. For me, our faith is reinforced by trusting God and His word all the way, no matter what. Our constant prayer is to walk faithful, pure and true, just like Jesus. I pray that for you and yours too.

It is really sad, these poor people have been deceived by Satan and his demons, the roman catholic church is a deceiving organisation who have been leading inocent people astray from the truth about GOD! Their lie started from day one 1500 to 1600 years age when they lied to people that PETER the Apostle of Christ was the first pope in Rome, but PETER was appointed by Jesus to be the head of the Church in Jerusalem, he never ever even visted Rome! Lie after lie and deception after deception comes from the head of the Catholic Church! The poor people have been believing lies throughout, Salvation comes from the Jews, Jesus was a Jew, not Roman! Jesu said: I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE and no man comes to the Father but through me.” So that means NO ONE goes to the Father or to Heaven through Mary or Joseph or Peter pr Paul or the POPE or anybody else! Only JESUS Saves, AMEN!

How sad that people continue to bash the Catholic church. If you don’t agree with its teachings, then so be it – but don’t be insulting and rude. You surely aren’t displaying appropriate Christian behavior by doing so. Many of your statements are twisted and distorted. I pray for the gift of discernment for those of you who are mislead – for whatever reason.
It’s not sad at all. Those that cannot be reasoned with and believe ridiculous propositions deserve to be ridiculed. Thomas Jefferson shared some words on that subject in relation to some seemingly unreasonable religious principles: Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus. — Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis Adrian Van there Kemp July 30, 1816.
Same reason I would make fun of people that think the earth is flat. In the Bible those that believed conflicting things were killed….men women and children. I think ridicule is far more moral.

Dear Wanda, you should check out the truth and history of the catholic church, it is 90% paganism, and 10% of Christianity, it is more of an organised religion, not Christian, none of the leaders, popes, bishops, cardinals, priests are followers of Jesus Christ , neither do they have the slightest clue of how be a follower.
