FDA Reverses Its Position On Taking A Daily Aspirin

After many decades of promoting aspirin, the FDA now says that if you have not experienced a heart problem, you should not be taking a daily aspirin—even if you have a family history of heart disease. This represents a significant departure from FDA’s prior position on aspirin for the prevention of heart attacks.
On its website, the FDA now says:
“FDA has concluded that the data do not support the use of aspirin as a preventive medication by people who have not had a heart attack, stroke or cardiovascular problems, a use that is called ‘primary prevention.’ In such people, the benefit has not been established but risks — such as dangerous bleeding into the brain or stomach — are still present.”
Their announcement was prompted by Bayer’s request to change its aspirin label to indicate it can help prevent heart attacks in healthy individuals. Aspirin generated $1.27 billion in sales for Bayer last year, and from Bayer’s request, it appears they want everyone to be taking their drug.
But the FDA says “not so fast”—and rightly so. Evidence in support of using aspirin preventatively has gone from weak to weaker to nonexistent. This is why I’ve been advising against it for more than a decade. It looks as though aspirin, even “low-dose aspirin” (LDA), may do far more harm than good.
In fact, it is debatable whether or not aspirin has ANY protective benefits against cardiovascular disease, even if you have suffered a heart attack or stroke. Recent scientific studies have uncovered a number of serious side effects, suggesting that whatever aspirin may offer may be overshadowed by its risks, especially when safer natural alternatives exist.
As is true for nearly all medications, the longer we watch for side effects, the more we tend to find—even for drugs like aspirin that have been around for more than 100 years. Just because aspirin is an over-the-counter drug and has been around for more than a century does not mean that it’s harmless.
Aspirin May Conceal a Cardiac Event in Progress
Roughly 800,000 Americans die from cardiovascular disease annually, which includes heart attacks and stroke. This is why heart health has been such a major focus, and why aspirin was hailed as a “wonder drug” by those who believed it was a safe and effective preventative. But that ship has sailed.
Nearly 10 years ago, Dr. John G. F. Cleland, a cardiologist from the University of Hull in the UK, wrote an excellent article published in the British Journal of Medicine casting doubt upon the efficacy of aspirin therapy for prevention of heart attacks.
Based on a series of meta-analyses from the Antithrombotic Trialists’ Collaboration, which is an enormous body of research following more than 100,000 patients at high risk for cardiac events, Dr. Cleland concluded that aspirin therapy was not saving lives. Rather, aspirin seems to change the way vascular events present themselves.
The number of non-fatal events may be reduced, but the number of sudden deaths is actually increased, because what most physicians don’t realize is that surprisingly aspirin can mask a cardiac event in progress.
Dr. Cleland also found that studies touting aspirin’s benefits are seriously flawed and interpretation of those studies is biased. Since Cleland’s original study, a deluge of scientific studies have further exposed aspirin’s failure, which I have summarized in the next few sections.
Studies Show Aspirin Is a Dismal Failure at Preventing Heart Attacks
The following table lists, chronologically, a sampling of studies showing that taking aspirin may do more harm than good. Regardless of whether you’re a man, woman, or diabetic, aspirin has failed miserably. This list of studies is not comprehensive. You will find much more information in the GreenMedInfo database, which lists more than 60 articles about aspirin’s toxic effects.
- American Heart Journal 2004 (WASH) – Patients receiving aspirin treatment showed the worst cardiac outcomes, especially heart failure
- New England Journal of Medicine 2005 – Ten-year study at Harvard involving nearly 40,000 women found no fewer heart attacks or cardiovascular deaths among women receiving aspirin therapy
- British Medical Journal 2009 – Aspirin therapy for diabetics produced no benefit in preventing cardiovascular events
- Pharmacoepidemiological Drug Safety 2009 – Swedish researchers studying individuals with diabetes found no clear benefit for aspirin, but did note it can increase the risk of serious bleeding
- Journal of the American Medical Association 2010 – Scottish study found that aspirin did not help prevent heart attacks or strokes in healthy, asymptomatic individuals with a high risk of heart disease
- Journal of the American College of Cardiology 2010 – Patients taking aspirin showed ahigher risk for recurrent heart attack and associated heart problems
- Expert Opinions in Pharmacotherapy 2010 – British meta-analysis of 7374 diabetics concluded that aspirin does not lower heart attack risk
Aspirin Increases Your Risk of Bleeding
Not only has aspirin failed to reduce the prevalence of heart attacks and strokes, but the list of its adverse effects seems to grow greater the more that it is studied. Chief among these is gastrointestinal bleeding, as aspirin interferes with your platelets—the blood cells that allow your blood to clot. According to one article, long-term low-dose aspirin therapy may double your risk for a gastrointestinal bleed.
Aspirin also increases your risk for a brain bleed, especially if you are older. One study found a high mortality rate for elderly individuals who had been taking aspirin prophylactically when they suffered a head trauma, resulting in deadly brain hemorrhage.
Aspirin Destroys the Lining of Your Gastrointestinal Tract
Regular aspirin use also destroys the lining of your gastrointestinal tract, increasing your risk for duodenal ulcers, H. Pylori infection, Crohn’s disease, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and intestinal perforations. More than 10 percent of patients taking low-dose aspirin develop gastric ulcers. The damage to your duodenum—the highest part of your intestine into which your stomach contents pass—can result in duodenal ulcers, which are prone to bleeding. Even low-dose aspirin is proven to cause problems.
A Japanese study found a higher incidence of bleeding at the ulcer sites of patients with duodenal ulcers taking low-dose aspirin (LDA) therapy, versus those not taking LDA. An Australian study also showed that aspirin causes gastroduodenal damage even at the low doses used for cardiovascular protection (80mg). And Japanese researchers found that aspirin had caused “small bowel injuries” to 80 percent of study participants after only two weeks of aspirin therapy.
Even MORE Bad News for Bayer
Each year, 15,000 people die and 100,000 people are hospitalized as the result of aspirin and other NSAIDs—and these are probably conservative estimates. But aspirin may be one of the oldest killer drugs! Strong historical evidence points to aspirin overdose as a major contributor to high death tolls during the 1918 influenza pandemic. Aspirin toxicity can result in hemorrhage and fluid buildup in your lungs, which can result in death. If you are interested in the evidence for this, please read Dr. Karen Starko’s fascinating paper in Clinical Infectious Diseases.
Lending even more weight to Starko’s work, an animal study in 2010 suggests that treating the flu with antipyretics (such as aspirin) may increase your risk of death. This study involved animals, but the results were compelling enough for the researchers to make an “urgent call” for human studies. Aspirin also depletes your body of important nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid, iron, potassium, sodium, and zinc, as well as impairing your melatonin production. And in addition to aspirin’s growing list of bodily assaults, routine aspirin use has been associated with even broader health problems, such as:
- Increased risk of one type of breast cancer in women (ER/PR-negative)
- Increased risk of kidney failure
- Cataracts, macular degeneration, and blindness
- Hearing loss and tinnitus
- Erectile dysfunction: Aspirin and other NSAIDs have been linked to a 22 percent increase in your risk of erectile dysfunction (ED), according to Kaiser researchers who studied more than 80,000 men
The Real Key to Protecting Your Heart Is Reducing Chronic Inflammation
Getting back to the subject of your heart, with all of these adverse effects, why risk taking aspirin when there are safer and more effective alternatives? About one in three deaths in the US are attributed to cardiovascular disease—but 25 percent of those are preventable.
The key is to address chronic inflammation, which can be accomplished by making specific lifestyle changes that encompass diet, exercise, sun exposure, and bare skin contact with the earth. In the remainder of this article, I will focus on heart-health strategies that work FAR better than aspirin. It’s an amazing thing to see how all these college campuses across America are now hosting massive anti-Israel, pro-Hamas demonstrations that feature professionally designed and printed signage, pop-up tents, and an endless bevy of transportational vehicles to ferry people to and from the protests. Why, it’s almost as if these ‘organic student-led protests’ had professional backers feeding them money and materials. As it turns out, they do and George Soros is leading the pack.

You might not have heard of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions Movement, BDS for short, but it is a very powerful group of people working to put pressure on Wall Street, Fortune 500 companies and colleges and universities to pull investments and endowments connected with Israel to cripple them financially. FROM THE DAILY MAIL UK: Tensions continue to escalate at the Ivy League school where hundreds of pro-Palestine protesters are demanding that the institution divest from companies with ties to Israel. So far, more than 100 demonstrators have been arrested at the ‘Gaza Solidarity Encampment’, which is comprised of a coalition of 116 groups under the umbrella organization Columbia University Apartheid Divest.
Now it has emerged that several of the groups in the coalition have received backing from left wing donors, including one group currently under investigation for allegedly fundraising for terrorist organizations.
One of the key players in the coalition is Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), which the Gazette reports came out in support of the October 7 attack which killed 1,200 Israelis. SJP receives funding from American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), according to the Anti Defamation League, which describes AMP as holding ‘extreme anti-Israel views’.

Last year, Virginia’s Attorney General Jason Miyares announced his office was investigating AMP over allegations they may have been fundraising for terrorist organizations. SJP is also an offshoot of the Westchester People’s Action Coalition which supports Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, the Green New Deal, and other left-wing initiatives. WESPAC is named as a ‘fiscal sponsor’ of SJP, according to NGO Watch and has assets over $1,000,000. Several of the groups members are among those who have been barred for participating in the sit in.
Another central player in the encampment is Jewish Voice for Peace, which has received millions from various donors including George Soros’s Open Society Network. Since 2016 the group has netted at least $650,000 from Soros-backed organizations.
Other donors have included the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, whose director, Nicholas Burns, resigned in 2017 over its support for JVP. Both JVP and SJP have been involved in solidarity protests across other universities including NYU, Yale, MIT and Harvard.
Columbia canceled in-person classes, dozens of protesters were arrested at New York University and Yale, and the gates to Harvard Yard were closed to the public Monday as some of the most prestigious U.S. universities sought to defuse campus tensions over Israel’s war with Hamas.
Columbia University Apartheid Divest states on its website that it represents thousands of students across nine schools.
Other groups which make up the coalition include Young Democratic Socialists of America, Columbia Queer and Asian, the African Students Association, Columbia University Students for Human Rights and the Teachers College Abolition Collective.
The coalition began the sit in following Columbia president Minouche Shafik’s testimony before Congress about anti-Semitism on campus. The stunt entered its seventh day today and has already seen billionaire donors including Robert Kraft pull their funding and earned condemnation from the White House.
The coalition’s three demands center around divestment all of Columbia’s finances, including that profit from ‘Israeli apartheid, genocide and occupation in Palestine’, severing all ties with Israeli universities and an opposition to ‘to land grabs, whether in Harlem, Lenapehoking, or Palestine’. The group is seeking a ceasefire on Gaza, where more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed in retaliatory strikes by Israel. READ MORE

We Just Sent One Bible For Every Detainee At The 1,400 Bed Karnes County Facility As Chaplain Segunda Tells Us 53 People Just Got Saved
This month we have sent out nearly 5,000 pounds of Bibles, New Testaments and scripture portions to jails, prisons and detention centers across America
Chaplain Segunda wrote to tell us two things the other day. The first was that she was very grateful to have received the 1,400 Bibles we sent to the Karnes County Detention Center last week, the second thing she wrote to tell us was that 53 people had prayed to get saved, and they were overjoyed to receive those Bibles from us. An equal amount of Bibles went out to the South Texas Immigration Detention Center, and 750 King James Bibles were sent to the Floyd County Jail in Georgia.

I got a letter yesterday Mark & Margie Beamer who attend the Wooster Bible Church in Ohio, they were writing to send a donation for Bibles Behind Bars and to tell us that the Bibles we sent to that church last year for their jail ministry at the Richland County Jail are still being given out, and that they were excited to help give them out. While it may sound like an episode of Black Mirror, Americans can now purchase a flamethrower-wielding robot dog online from Throwflame called Thermonator.
Have you ever spent a hot, summer afternoon at a water park? I have, and it’s one of my favorite things to do. There is this curious moment that takes place after you enter into the water, right before the thundering force of the jets carry you forward. In that brief, little space, you are calm and peaceful, luxuriously basking in the cool water. Then you reach the main current and woosh!! you go at what feels like a million miles per hour. This is where we are right now with the incoming tide of AI and robot technology, in that brief little moment before the avalanche sweeps us inexorably forward into only God knows what’s coming next.

The opening years of the 20th century was an overwhelming outpouring of information and global travel and exploration, exactly as Daniel had foreseen in chapter 12 of his book. Now here in 2024 we have flamethrower-wielding robot dogs named Thermonator here to meet all our flamethrowing needs as Hell continues to enlarge itself. Meet the Thermonator: First ever flamethrowing robot dog that shoots jets of fire up to 30 feet hits US market
FROM THE DAILY MAIL UK: Ohio-based Throwflame opened sales for its ‘Thermonator’ Tuesday, selling its 37-pound quadruped machine for $9,420 that is legal in all US states except Maryland. A demonstration video shows a Thermonator creeping and jumping through a forest before torching its surroundings with a 30-foot jet of fire spewing from a flame thrower on its back. Throwflame, based in Cleveland, claims to be the oldest flamethrower manufacturer in the US.
The company released the first-ever full-sized, commercially available flamethrower in 2015, which shoots flames up to 50 feet. ‘This unregulated flamethrower sparked a significant media response relating to legality,’ Throwflame shared on its website. ‘However, flamethrowers remain federally unregulated. This means anyone can buy one without background checks or a waiting period.’
Thermonator appears to be designed like most quadruped robots but has one of Throwflame’s devices attached to its back. The robot dog boasts a variety of cameras and sensors, allowing it to autonomously move throughout its surroundings and find targets to set ablaze. The machine is remotely operated – the demonstration video shows a handler controlling it with a smartphone.
Social media users have weighed in on the machine, comparing it to an episode in the fourth season of Black Mirror titled ‘Metalhead.’
The episode explores what could happen if these machines turned on us, revealing the terrifying quest for survival in a world where robo-dogs can outrun and outsmart humans. X user Rob Sheepe posted: ‘Some real-life Black Mirror ‘Metalhead’ terror right here. How is this legal?’
However, Maryland is the only US state that bans flamethrowers – California requires a permit to own one. Possessing or using a flamethrower in Maryland is punishable by a $250,000 fine and up to 25 years imprisonment. In 2015, Congress introduced a bill that would treat flamethrowers like machine guns, but was stalled and later dismissed. READ MORE
