Katie Benson
Katie Benson goes into some of the darkest places the world has known to actively fight against modern day slavery and exploitation toward women, children and even men. Going to Cambodia, Thailand, India and finishing up on United States soil in Atlanta, Georgia.

The current trip she will be embarking on has been designed to be a foretaste of an end to worldwide human trafficking. She will be working alongside local partners as she goes into villages and bars. Katie will share about the dangers and reality of this issue with those who are at-risk, and she will share love and healing with those who have come directly out of the sex industry.

Katie's qualifications consist of Charis Bible College as well as Mission trips to Peru, Haiti and two trips to Mexico. She has a huge heart to see this horrific industry put to an end and has chosen to combat this industry until the very end.

¶ Freeing Children From Human Sex Trafficking
By Katie Benson • December 3, 2010

"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here [am] I; send me." Isaiah 6:8

Human sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, based on the recruitment, harboring, and transportation of people solely for the purpose of exploitation. With 27 million men, women and children enslaved in our world today, it is a force that is to be taken seriously. These people need to be seen. They need to be heard and loved. I have joined the World Race to be a part of God's solution to this serious and deadly problem of human sex trafficking.

This is the team I will be travelling with, pictured here at Training Camp October 2010

Cambodia: 28 years ago, Cambodia experienced one of the most gruesome genocides known to humanity, where over one-third of the country's population was slaughtered. Still in recovery from its terrible past, Cambodia has become a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking. The people of Cambodia are thirsty for hope. We will be doing a lot of aftercare ministry. Meaning, after they have gotten out of slavery we will go and minister to them in their safe homes. Most safe homes consist of women working fair trade with a job that now brings them dignity instead of shame. Most of these places that my team will be working with are Christian and have ministered to these women the salvation of Jesus. They also learn basic work skills, like sewing, cosmetology, jewelry making. They even learn to make greeting cards. We will also be working on the prevention side of the trafficking process. That is where we will go and inform women and children of the risks of getting involved in this industry. How they may prevent themselves from being one of the many. We will give them practical steps as well as show them Christ's love.

Thailand: With nearly two million people estimated to be stuck in prostitution in Thailand, it has become one of the most popular places for sex tourism. As Katie changes lives in the city and turns the country side upside-down for the kingdom of God, she will see how God is transforming this country. This is where most of the bar ministry will take place. We as a squad of 35 people will be in many different locations. This is where the bulk of one-on-one ministering will come in. We will strike up conversations with the women and men and have basic conversations that lead to Christ. Them knowing their worth through Him. Most of these women (and men) don't know that anyone wants to hear them for who they are, so we will just be a listening ear to people who have no one else. Some of us will be going to Pattaya (known as the Pedophile City) and working with the children there that have been enslaved.

India: With nearly a sixth of the world's population within it's boarders, India is a country diverse in people, cultures, and beliefs. While the country is on the edge of full economic development, it's still stricken with poverty and privy to the crimes of human trafficking, forced prostitution, religious persecution, and more. We will be in the middle of red light districts the whole time in India. We will not be ministering to the women in the brothels because it is too dangerous. We will be working with the women in the restoration process (the ones who have gotten out of the industry and have a job with dignity). The reason some of the woman stay in the red light districts after coming out of such a horrific industry is because some ministries encourage them to stay and minister to women who are still in the trade. We will also be talking to people before they appear in the trade and tell them of the costs, and how to prevent it from happening to them.
Our schedule & financial needs: We launch on January 15th, and the full cost for me personally to take this mission trip is $7,300.00 I have raised $3.400.00 to date, but I need to hit the $5K mark by December 15, with the full amount by January.

I am trusting in God to work through the generous provision of His people to make it possible for me to go. If you would like to donate any amount to help me reach my goal, click here to make a secure online donation. I thank you in advance for your support in making this trip possible. Please pray the Lord that our efforts be successful in reaching these precious captives to liberate them both physcially and spiritually.

The World Race is a Christian mission trip that travels to 11 countries in 11 months. Participants live out of a backpack, survive on a limited budget, and find themselves in situations where faith is the only reality to choose from. In partnering with existing missionaries and ministries, World Racers develop relationships with the "least of these", and through acts of service see communities and nations transformed all over the world.
