Labor Day is an appropriate moment to reflect on a quiet catastrophe: the collapse, over two generations, of work for American men.

During the past half-century, work rates for U.S. males spiraled relentlessly downward. America is now home to a vast army of jobless men who are no longer even looking for work—roughly seven million of them age 25 to 54, the traditional prime of working life.

This is arguably a crisis, but it is hardly ever discussed in the public square. Received wisdom holds that the U.S. is at or near “full employment.” Most readers have probably heard this, perhaps from the vice chairman of the Federal Reserve, who said in a speech last week that “it is a remarkable, and perhaps underappreciated, achievement that the economy has returned to near-full employment in a relatively short time after the Great Recession.”

Near-full employment? In 2015 the work rate (the ratio of employment to population) for American males age 25 to 54 was 84.4%. That’s slightly lower than it had been in 1940, 86.4%, at the tail end of the Great Depression. Benchmarked against 1965, when American men were at genuine full employment, the “male jobs deficit” in 2015 would be nearly 10 million, even after taking into account an older population and more adults in college.

Or look at the fraction of American men age 20 and older without paid work. In the past 50 years it rose to 32% from 19%, and not mainly because of population aging. For prime working-age men, the jobless rate jumped to 15% from 6%. Most of the postwar surge involved voluntary departure from the labor force.

Until roughly the outbreak of World War II, working-age American men fell into basically two categories: either holding a paid job or unemployed. There was no “third way” for able-bodied males. Today there is one: neither working nor seeking work—that is, men who are outside the labor force altogether. Unlike in the past, the U.S. is now evidently rich enough to carry them, after a fashion. The no-work life hardly consigns these men to destitution.

This is at least somewhat true throughout the affluent West, but the U.S. has led the pack. Not even in dysfunctional Greece or “lost generation” Japan has the male flight from work proceeded with such alacrity. The paradox is that Americans—those who do have jobs—are still among the rich world’s hardest-working people. No other developed society puts in such long hours, and at the same time supports such a large share of younger men neither holding jobs nor seeking them.

Who are America’s new cadre of prime-age male unworkers? They tend to be: 1) less educated; 2) never married; 3) native born; and 4) African-American.

But those categories intersect in interesting ways. Black married men are more likely to be in the workforce than unmarried whites. Immigrants are more likely to be working or job-hunting than native-born Americans, regardless of ethnicity. High-school dropouts from abroad are as likely to be working or looking for work as native-born college grads.

What do unworking men do with their free time? Sadly, not much that’s constructive. About a tenth are students trying to improve their circumstances. But the overwhelming majority are what the British call NEET: “neither employed nor in education or training.” Time-use surveys suggest they are almost entirely idle—helping out around the house less than unemployed men; caring for others less than employed women; volunteering and engaging in religious activities less than working men and women or unemployed men. For the NEETs, “socializing, relaxing and leisure” is a full-time occupation, accounting for 3,000 hours a year, much of this time in front of television or computer screens.

Clearly big changes in the U.S. economy, including the decline of manufacturing and the Big Slowdown since the start of the century, have played a role. But something else is at work, too: the male flight from work has been practically linear over the past two generations, irrespective of economic conditions or recessions.

What we might call “sociological” factors are evident, not least the tremendous rise in unworking men who draw from government disability and means-tested benefit programs. There are also the barriers to work for America’s huge pool of male ex-prisoners and felons not behind bars—a poorly tracked cohort that accounts for one adult male in eight in the civilian population, excluding those in jail now.

Regardless of its cause, this new normal is inimical to America’s national interests. Declining labor-force participation and falling work rates have contributed to slower economic growth and widening gaps in income and wealth. Slower growth in turn reduces tax revenue and increases budgetary pressures, producing higher deficits and national debt. Unworking men have increased poverty in the U.S., not least among the great many children whose fathers are without jobs.

There are the social effects, too. The male retreat from the labor force has exacerbated family breakdown, promoted welfare dependence and recast “disability” into a viable alternative lifestyle. Among these men the death of work seems to mean also the death of civic engagement, community participation and voluntary association.

In short, the American male’s postwar flight from work is a grave social ill. Strangely, nearly everyone—the news media, major political parties, intellectuals, business leaders, policy makers—has managed to overlook it. The urgency of the moment is to bring this invisible crisis out of the shadows.

Imagine how different America would be today if another roughly 10 million men held paying jobs. It is imperative for the future health of the country to make a determined and sustained effort to bring these detached men back—into the workplace, into their families, into civil society. source

‘Leave the World Behind’ is a 2023 American apocalyptic psychological thriller film executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama for Netflix

For starters, we have covered for many years, the money-path that the Barack and Michelle Obama have taken after their first two terms in the White House. One leg of that path led straight to Netflix where, for a cool $50,000,000.00, they were invited to produce movies supporting their Leftist Agenda. Predictably, their first effort ‘American Factory’ was awarded the Oscar with seemingly no effort at all. It was a ‘Christmas Miracle!’. So let’s talk about their latest release, an end times apocalyptic thriller, (yes you heard right), called ‘Leave The World Behind’.

The first thing I’d like to direct your attention to is the movie poster itself, proudly featuring the names of the 4 stars who act in it, is the fascinating little acrostic it contains. We have gone ahead and highlighted what we found in red, and you will see it forms the word ‘Baal’. That’s not a review, that’s the marketing, so you can see the position we start this from. But honestly, did you expect anything different from Barack and Michelle Obama? I certainly did not.

As far the movie itself goes, I gave up my Netflix subscription when they started showing movies promoting kiddie porn, pro-abortion and such like so I had to rely on various sources like social media and a plot synopsis. The least troubling part of the ‘Leave The World Behind‘ is the overt racism it promotes where the main characters are reinforcing the troupe that blacks cannot trust whites. Democrats have nothing if they stop peddling racism, and it is peddled quite well here.

THE MAIN THEME: “After a prolonged stand-off, Danny decides to help Archie in exchange for money and directs them to a nearby underground bunker prepared for doomsday. G.H. confesses to Clay that he knows what’s happening – he says that a political coup d’état is afoot, which is why the people in positions of power are letting a civil war take root by disrupting technology and feeding chaos. Amanda and Ruth see New York City being bombed, and Rose has walked into the neighboring home and found the bunker, where an Emergency Alert System interceptor reveals that the U.S. is at war with rogue armed forces with the suggestion of radiological weapons being involved.” Basically, it’s a story about the end of the world written by lost people without the Bible. But you get the idea.

Translated it reads like this. Barack and Michelle have produced an end times movie showing the United States government turning against the people, and using the military to bomb them into submission. Hmm, sounds like someone has been roaming in the corridors of Now The End Begins. We’ve been warning of things like that for 15 years now. I’m sure it’s just a ‘coincidence’, but ‘Leave The World Behind’ comes out just as reports of the Chinese Cyber Army hacking the US power grid are revealed. I’m sure that’s just a crazy coincidence. Now back to your bunker.

Former President Barack Obama called the Israel-Hamas conflict a ‘moral reckoning for all of us’ at an event hosted by his foundation Friday, says ‘occupation must end’.

Last time I checked, Israel was not occupying anyone. They are in their land, given to them by God, as the Bible clearly points out in Genesis. But there is indeed an ‘occupation’ of Gaza and the Palestinians, only it’s Hamas who is doing the occupying. But as Obama was throwing around phrases like ‘end the occupation’, he never mentions who is referring to, and that’s quite intentional. He needs to keep things ‘open ended’ so as not to cause his donors to flee, without alienating his Jewish staff members.

“In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.” Genesis 15:18-21 (KJV)

For those of you who are not geographical scholars, here is the original land grant God gave to Abraham in bullet points:

  • The upper-right portion of Egypt
  • All of modern-day Israel
  • All of Lebanon
  • All of of Syria
  • A piece of Turkey
  • Half of Iraq
  • The northern half of Jordan
  • A little slice of Saudi Arabia

Now I understand that in this dispensation of the Church Age, that is something that will never be realized. Israel is actually preparing to go into the time of Jacob’s trouble which includes the 3.5 year time of the great Tribulation. But there is a Day coming where, in that day, all the land that I just told you belongs to Israel will be given back to them by the LORD Himself. In the meantime, Israel is a ‘deadly piece of dirt’ that grows deadlier with each passing day. One day, people like Barack Obama will bow down before the Jewish King of Kings, and confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father. And there will be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD. That’s a fact, and that’s Bible. Go look it up.

Obama calls for end of ‘occupation,’ security for Israel, state for Palestinians

FROM FOX NEWS: Obama spoke at the Obama Foundation’s Democracy Forum on Thursday, where he called for a two-state solution and an end to the “occupation,” while not clarifying what occupation he meant.

“All of this is taking place against the backdrop of decades of failure to achieve a durable peace for both Israelis and Palestinians,” the former president told the forum audience.

Obama continued, “One that is based on genuine security for Israel, a recognition of its right to exist, and a peace that is based on an end of the occupation and the creation of a viable state and self-determination for the Palestinian people.”

Palestinian governing authority Hamas launched a terrorist attack against Israel on October 7 that killed over 1,400 Israeli citizens. Since then, more than 9,000 people have been killed in Gaza as Israeli Defense Forces continue their ground incursion of the region, the Gaza Health Ministry claims. The death toll is expected to rise once buildings are cleared and rubble is taken away.

“Now, I will admit, it is impossible to be dispassionate in the face of this carnage,” Obama said Thursday. “It is hard to feel hopeful. The images of families mourning, of bodies being pulled from rubble, force a moral reckoning on all of us.”

“We’ve had to sort through our anguish, our outrage, our fears and our differences on the issues,” he said. “I had a conversation with a group of you around this issue, and you were passionate and pushed me around some of the public statements I’d made.”

“And the issue is not a wish for different outcomes – an end to the killing, peaceful coexistence between two sovereign and free peoples – but rather different assessments of the path that we need to take in order to get there,” former president Obama continued.

The United States does not officially support a cease-fire, as President Biden has repeatedly affirmed Israel’s right to self-defense against Hamas. Biden has recently shifted his tone, amid pressure from progressive groups and world leaders, to express support for a humanitarian “pause.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that a pause in Israel’s ground invasion would give time for Hamas to reorganize or plan other attacks. READ MORE

Former President Obama on Monday praised the nation’s librarians for standing on the front lines as book bans on LGBTQIA+ graphic porn publications designed to groom and recruit children spread around the nation.

One of the most-pressing and vital issues of our day is putting a stop to the ever-increasing grooming, recruiting and sexualization of our children that goes on 5 days at within the confines of the public school and public library systems across America. Some of the books that are right now available in public libraries and aimed at kids are so filthy that, when read aloud by an irate parent at a school board meeting, they are told to stop reading those passages because they are too graphic. Yesterday, Barack Obama wrote a letter in favor of allowing those books to remain in the libraries, is anyone surprised?

One of the tricks employed by the Left and the leftist media is to conflate the LGBTQIA+ agenda with racism, to make it seem like they are one, and the queers with their grooming and recruiting policies draft in behind the legitimate concerns of people of color. Barack Obama does this multiple times in his open letter to the librarians across the country, but to no avail. We will not fall for that nor allow that to be a talking point. The LGBTQIA+ are attempting to force their books displaying graphic depictions and (GRAPHIC LINK WARNING) images of queer sexual activity into the libraries, and we need to push back against this for as long as it takes to defeat it. Some things absolutely should be censored, and books showing (GRAPHIC LINK WARNING) gay oral anal sex to kids in the 3rd grade is one of them. Maybe you recently watched ‘Sound of Freedom’ and got motivated to do something to stop child sex trafficking, and that’s great. Start by going to your local Public Library, and the library in your kid’s schools, and demand the removal of these filthy queer porn books aimed at grooming your kids.

Obama gives shoutout to librarians while blasting queer sex books for children censorship

FROM THE HILL: In a letter to the “hardworking librarians of America,” Obama denounced recent attempts to ban books that touch on topics like gender, sexuality and race. He said many of these books and their authors shaped his life.

“Writers like Mark Twain and Toni Morrison, Walt Whitman and James Baldwin taught me something essential about our country’s character. Reading about people whose lives were very different from mine showed me how to step into someone else’s shoes. And the simple act of writing helped me develop my own identity — all of which would prove vital as a citizen, as a community organizer, and as president,” Obama said.

“Today, some of the books that shaped my life — and the lives of so many others — are being challenged by people who disagree with certain ideas or perspectives,” he added.

During the 2021-2022 school year, more than 1,600 books were banned from school libraries, affecting 138 school districts in 32 states, according to a report from PEN America. Over the last two years, at least 19 states have passed legislation that would incarcerate librarians for providing “harmful” books to minors, according to The Washington Post.

Americans owe librarians a “debt of gratitude” for continuing to provide access to these stories, Obama said.

“In a very real sense, you’re on the front lines — fighting every day to make the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas available to everyone,” Obama said. “Your dedication and professional expertise allow us to freely read and consider information and ideas, and decide for ourselves which ones we agree with.”

Obama’s statement comes as he has joined libraries around the country on TikTok to promote access to books. Though his home state of Illinois is leading the fight to outlaw book bans in public libraries, other states are seeing librarians targeted. In Texas, for instance, police have been called to schools and public libraries at least five times for books that contain “illegal content,” according to the Houston Chronicle.

But illegal content ranges from books covering the life of Ruby Bridges, the first Black child to attend a white-only school, to writings by the nation’s first youth poet laureate, Amanda Gorman.

In his letter, the 44th president said it’s “no coincidence” that many banned books are written by people of color, indigenous people and members of the LGBTQ community.

“I believe such an approach is profoundly misguided, and contrary to what has made this country great,” Obama said.  READ MORE
