U.S. Military Pulls Its Insignias From Bibles Cites ‘National Security’ Threat

The Pentagon has revoked permission for a Christian ministry to produce Bibles for different branches of the military, marked with those insignias, after an anti-Christian group called them a threat to national security.
In 2003, B&H Publishing, a division of LifeWay Christian Resources, was given authorization to use the official seals of the U.S. military branches on a line of Bibles. No government funds were used in the production of the Bibles, which contained devotional material unique to each service branch in much the same way they are tailored to other groups such as teens or children.
As part of the features, the Bibles featured the Pledge of Allegiance, the first and fourth verses of the Star Spangled Banner, Patton’s famous Christmas prayer card from 1944 as well as testimonials from the Officers’ Christian Fellowship.

Withdrawn authorization
Nowhere in the Bibles did they state that they were endorsed by any government entity or military branch. Despite this, last year the Military Religious Freedom Foundation sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta demanding the military rescind its authorization to use the service emblems, saying it was a violation of church and state separation.
The request by the group was subsequently granted. Marty King, communications director for LifeWay said, “We received notice last year from the various branches withdrawing authorization.”
While the group was told it would be able to sell its existing stock, last week it was announced that the Department of Defense was pulling all known copies of the Bibles from exchange stores.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation is taking credit for the removal of the Bibles from service exchanges and removal of the service insignias.
“Once again our foundation has decisively beaten back those who would see the wall separating church and state reduced to rubble,” said Mikey Weinstein, MRFF spokesman. “The very fact that the Pentagon – or ‘Pentacostal-gon’ – had allowed for the insignias of the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force to be used for such a clearly evangelical fundamentalist agenda should sicken anyone with any inkling of respect for the ‘sacred’ principle of religious freedom as enshrined by the foundational documents of our nation, namely the U.S. Constitution.”
While the group claims that it is not an atheist organization and that many of its members are Christians, Weinstein admitted the group was opposed to evangelical Christianity. In an interview with Anti-war.com, he said, “We’re fighting a Fundamentalist-Christian-Parachurch-Military-Corporate-Proselytizing-Complex.”
Additionally, the group says that placing service logos on Bibles is a “national security threat.”
“If their logos are being placed on a particular version of Christianity – particularly when we are engaged in a war with fundamentalist Muslims that are trying to view this as a cosmic war between Jesus and Allah – it’s a security threat,” he said. “It’s neither a problem, it’s not an issue or a challenge. It’s a national security threat.”
The group claims the military Bibles are also in violation of the law, but they have no problem with other Bibles being sold. “The Bible by itself is fine to be sold,” Weinstein told Fox News Radio.
The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty said it was outrageous that the DoD prohibited the publisher from printing the Bibles with the emblems.
“DoD regularly allows vendors to use branch insignia for other books, for paintings and other items,” the group said.
“From General George Washington until today, military personnel have taken counsel, received comfort, and been encouraged by biblical texts,”said Col. Ron Crews, executive director for the Chaplain Alliance. “These Bibles cost the Department of Defense nothing, and their presence is legally legitimate; therefore, no reason exists for the DoD to retreat in the face of the small anti-religious group that demanded removal of the Bibles.”
The group said the decision is another attempt by the DoD to create a “religion free” zone in the military and is calling on Congress to investigate the issue. - Source – WND

Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, warned that the global economy is entering a “dangerous new phase” on Friday, ahead of the G7 summit in Marseilles, France.
She warned that both advanced and emerging economies faced key economic challenges, and that governments must “act now” to stop further contagion.
“Policymakers should stand ready, as needed, to take more action to support the recovery, including through unconventional measures,” Lagarde said.
“The world is collectively suffering from a crisis of confidence, in the face of a deteriorating economic outlook and rising concerns about the health of sovereigns and banks.”
Her speech at Chatham House in London came after a turbulent week for the markets, with the focus on sovereign debt issues in the euro zone and job creation in the US.
She welcomed President Obama’s new $450 billion jobs package, announced Thursday, but added “it remains critical for the United States to clarify its medium term plan.”
The British government, including Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, who also spoke, was warned that “risk levels are rising” in the UK and the government needs to have a “heightened readiness to respond.”
However, Lagarde conceded that the government’s response “remains appropriate.”
When Lagarde called for the recapitalization of European banks at the Jackson Hole summit in the United States in August, a flight away from European banks resulted in the markets.
Osborne agreed that the situation is “more complex” than in 2008 but described his government’s plan as a “rock of stability”.

WASHINGTON – Rick Warren, the superstar mega-church pastor and bestselling author of ”The Purpose Driven Life,” had a Damascus Road experience last week – and like Saul of Tarsus, one of the after-effects appears to be blindness.

Warren went to Syria and could find no persecution of Christians. He could find no persecution of Jews. He could find no evidence of extremism. He could find no evidence of the sponsorship of terrorism.
Despite the temporary loss of vision that prevented him from seeing any evil in the totalitarian police state, Warren’s hearing was apparently not affected – for his ears were tickled by what he heard and apparently accepted lock, stock and barrel from the second-generation dictator, Bashar Assad, and his state-approved mufti.
But that’s not the story Warren is telling – at least not in the official press releases he is sending out from Rwanda in response to my confrontations with him last week in which I accused him of betraying his own country in a hostile foreign land and of being a propaganda tool of the Islamo-fascist regime in Damascus.
In fact, after I called him out last week in my column, Warren e-mailed me claiming to have been misquoted by the official Syrian news agency.
”Joseph, why didn’t you contact me first and discover the fact that I said nothing of the sort?” he pleaded. ”The trip was a favor to my next door neighbor, had nothing to do with policy, and was done with the State Department’s knowledge – who told us to expect exactly what Syria did – a PR blast. I don’t pretend to be a diplomat. I’m a pastor who just gets invited places.”
I pointed out to Warren that WND had indeed attempted to contact him about his trip. No one from his Saddleback Church ever returned our calls the day the story broke.
”I’m sure since you were warned in advance by the State Department that you took the precaution of recording your own words,” I suggested in my response. ”We look forward to seeing the transcripts or hearing the recordings.”
I also asked if he could respond specifically to the words put in his mouth by the Syrian news agency. And lastly I suggested that he should have ”counseled with me, or other people knowledgeable about the Middle East before doing so much damage with your reckless trip.”
I really didn’t expect to hear back from Warren – but, a few minutes later, I did, with an absolutely stunning retort.
He let me know he is a close friend of President Bush ”and many, if not most, of the generals at the Pentagon.” He also told me he did not tape anything while in Syria, ”because it was a courtesy call, like I do in every country.” Warren explained that he had also counseled with the National Security Council and the White House, as well as the State Department, before his little courtesy call for a neighbor.
”In fact,” Warren added, ”as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Oxford Analytica, I might know as much about the Middle East as you.”
He continued: ”I hope you’ll not choose to believe Syrian propaganda even though, as you pointed out at the start of your article, you’ve been wanting to criticize me for some time. In spite of your rush to judgment, I think you write great, insightful columns. You are almost batting 1,000.”
No sooner had I received this surprising response from Warren, I also got an e-mail providing a link to a YouTube video of Rick Warren in Syria explaining how great the Assad regime treats Christians and Jews and how Damascus ”does not permit extremism of any kind.”
Not one to let lies go unchallenged, I wrote back to Warren with a link to the YouTube video: ”If you didn’t tape anything, what’s this? Do you really believe Syria does not allow extremism of any kind? There are more terrorist organizations based in Syria than anywhere else in the world!”
It might be that Rick Warren, deep in the bush of Rwanda, never received those last questions, because he never responded – at least not in the last three days.
He did, however, within minutes make sure the YouTube video he recorded independent of his meetings with the Syrian brown shirts was removed from the network. Vanished. Kaput. Sterilized. Cleansed. Superman Has Abandoned America and Joined the New World Order

Since he first appeared on the scene in 1938, Superman has embodied the American way of life everybit as much as the Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam do. After all, he stands for “truth, justice AND the American way…” His hand-drawn visage, one of the most recognizable symbols in the world, instantly conjures up images of strength, power, fairness and America. Flash forward to 2011, and the Socialist Obama Doctrine rules the day now. And sweeping in on the wings of this ‘change’ has come the New World Order. Nationalism, or the love of one’s country, is deemed a bad thing now. The idea of ‘American exceptionalism’, like the US Constitution, is destinied for the trash heap if our real President, George Soros, continues to have his way. Superman? He too must get with the program, and towards that end he is becoming UN-American. And in an AMAZING coincidence, this is a lot like what Obama said in his Germany speech while running for president in 2008 where he claimed himself not as first and foremost an American, but a ‘citizen of the world’.
Like Obama, Superman is now a Citizen of the World.
After recently undertaking a journey to walk — not fly — across the United States in the “Grounded” storyline and reconnect with the country and everyday Americans, Superman appears to be taking another step that could have major implications for his national identity: in Action Comics #900…
…Superman announces that he is going to give up his U.S. citizenship. Despite very literally being an alien immigrant, Superman has long been seen as a patriotic symbol of “truth, justice, and the American way,” from his embrace of traditional American ideals to the iconic red and blue of his costume. What it means to stand for the “American way” is an increasingly complicated thing, however, both in the real world and in superhero comics, whose storylines have increasingly seemed to mirror current events and deal with moral and political complexities rather than simple black and white morality.
This could be a very significant turning point for Superman if its implications carry over into other storylines. Indeed, simply saying that “truth, justice and the American way [is] not enough anymore” is a pretty startling statement from the one man who has always represented those values the most. The key scene takes place in “The Incident,” a short story in Action Comics #900 written by David S. Goyer with art by Miguel Sepulveda. In it, Superman consults with the President’s national security advisor, who is incensed that Superman appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime, no doubt an analogue for the recent real-life protests in the Middle East. However, since Superman is viewed as an American icon in the DC Universe as well as our own, the Iranian government has construed his actions as the will of the American President, and indeed, an act of war. source – Comics Alliance

On March 23rd, we reported to you that George Soros was planning to kick-off his New World Order Summit, aptly titled the ‘Change The World’ event, in Bretton Woods, NH on April 8. That is this Friday and it’s full-speed ahead for George Soros and his plan of instituting the New World Order. This weekend-long event will feature very heavy hitters from the world of politics, finance and global intrigue. So why, you may ask, are none of the media outlets except Fox News and little, old NTEB covering this world-changing event? Hmmm, excellent question.
George Soros to ‘Change The World’
George Soros, the left-wing billionaire is helping fund two major conferences that start on the same day, in two different locations just a three hours apart by car. Two liberal events packed into one long weekend. God created the world in six days. Apparently, Soros, who sees himself as “some kind of god,”needs just a long weekend to start remaking today’s world in his image.
The emphasis of both conferences is a familiar one to American voters – change. Soros wants to begin changing the global economy in one event. In the other, his flunkies want to “Change the world. Change the media.” Now that is change you can believe in. Sadly, those who actually report the news must believe in it because they sure as heck aren’t reporting on Soros or either event. And that’s even though staffers or even executives from Reuters, the Financial Times, NPR, PBS, The Washington Post and other major media outlets are speaking at one event or the other.
The first gathering in Bretton Woods, N.H., is an economic conference Soros once described as “a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.” In October 2009, Soros committed $50 million to the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET). A week later, the glib lefty investor wrote a column calling for a new Bretton Woods event, to recreate the one that helped design the post-WWII economy. Only he wants this one to knock America down a peg or three.
Now, it’s been a little over a year later and the group he funded is making King George’s wish come true – bringing together a whole slew of important people to discuss how to change the global economy. In Soros speak, that means “establish new international rules” and “reform the currency system.”
The announced speakers include a lot of prominent lefties, globalists and economists on the board of the organization he has throwing the event – more than two-thirds of the overall total have ties to Soros. To underscore their connection to history, INET is hosting the conference at the Mount Washington Resort, the very same hotel that held the first gathering.
INET Executive Robert Johnson defended his event in a March 31 interview with Lou Dobbs. Johnson, a former managing director at Soros Fund Management, who is on the Board of Directors for the Soros-funded Economic Policy Institute, avoided saying “Soros” despite Dobbs mentioning Johnson’s boss several times. In his last response, he tried to rationalize the Soros connection, by saying “I have a group of funders including George Soros.” With $50 million, Soros alone makes a pretty big group. Is this where they will issue the orders to put Americans in FEMA camps? One this is certain, if Obama is behind it, you can’t trust one single bit of it.
The West Wing of the White House is all-but disappearing behind an $86 million building project that is going to last for years. And a mysterious tunnel is being built, fueling speculation that a secret underground lair is what’s really under construction. In recent weeks, an expanding and sometimes ear-splitting zone of excavation has enveloped the mansion’s famous office wing.

Heavy equipment and metal-and-concrete superstructures are part of the vast construction project. The front door and the Marine who guards it have disappeared behind a high green-and-white plywood fence. From Pennsylvania Avenue, all that’s visible is a sliver of second-floor roof line.
For years to come, the front yard at 1600 Pennsylvania will remain a noisy building site, say officials in charge of the White House’s ‘Big Dig’.
Officials describe the job as an overdue upgrade of underground utilities. That includes water and sewer lines, electrical conduits, pipes for chilled and hot water and steam heat systems, and storm sewers. Heating, air conditioning and fire alarm systems are being replaced. Some systems are getting backups. The White House already has a number of tunnels — the exact number is, of course, classified. The most well known is the underground corridor that leads to the President’s Emergency Operations Center (PEOC), a supposedly nuclear-proof bunker located six stories under the East Wing. It was to this bunker and its adjacent Executive Briefing Room that Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice, among others, directed Government operations on September 11, 2001.
While Hollywood and many conspiracy theorists suggest a rabbit warren of subterranean passageways — including mythical tunnels to Capitol Hill and even Camp David — there is at least one hidden passageway that has been revealed in the famous residence. They want to control the weather, the air around us, the waves, earthquakes, and ultimately they want to control your mind. In fact, mind control is the topic today as we try to unravel why so many on-air television personalties are, well… unraveling. As you read this story, we would also like to call to your attention all the bizarre fish and animal spontaneous deaths – in the millions – from just a few months ago. It is highly likely that these events have the same cause – HAARP.
Talking gibberish, all of a sudden
“A bizarre spate of television presenters dissolving into on-air gibberish has sparked claims that the U.S. military could be to blame. In four high-profile cases, the latest involving fast-talking Judge Judy, the presenters have started off speaking properly but have then descended into undecipherable nonsense – looking confused and unstable.
Targeted? Serene Branson's garbled Grammys report became an internet sensation, while WISCTV's Sarah Carlson suffered a similar meltdown in January.
The frequency of the ‘attacks’ – and the fact that recorded examples of the mental meltdowns have been popular on websites – has led to conspiracy theorists pointing the finger at shadowy government experiments.
A popular theory being circulated online blames the U.S. Military’s supposed research into using microwaves as a mind control weapon.
America has never admitted conducting such research but proponents say the effects - produced by microwave signals stimulating the brain with fake images and voices – exactly mimic those displayed in the recent on-air breakdowns. As to why the Pentagon might be targeting U.S. television presenters, the microwave theorists are less clear. The phenomenon, which has provided internet video sites with some of the oddest footage for months, has now claimed one of America’s most highly paid broadcasters.
Judith Sheindlin, the fast-talking judge on Judge Judy, was taken to hospital on Wednesday after she began speaking a nonsensical string of words during a live recording of her courtroom TV show. Studio insiders said Sheindlin, who earns £28 million a year for a show that is the most watched programme on American daytime TV, was sitting on camera and ‘started saying things that didn’t make any sense’. Sheindlin then announced she needed to stop as she didn’t feel well and asked a crew member to call an ambulance. The 68-year-old lawyer was released from hospital the following day but a spokesman said medical tests had not revealed what caused her garbled speech and double vision. Her verbal breakdown is the fourth such recent case and the odd coincidence has prompted feverish speculation over the cause.
No video has been released of the Judge Judy incident but footage of the other three has rapidly gone viral on the internet. The first victim was Serene Branson, a Los Angeles reporter for CBS, who delivered a completely incoherent piece to camera on the Grammy music awards last month. The presenter was unable to get out her words and continued to struggle to speak for around 10 seconds outside the Staples Center before producers cut to a video.
She said later: ‘My head was definitely pounding and I was very uncomfortable, and I knew something wasn’t right. I was terrified and confused.’ Her case was followed by a Canadian news reporter whose report on his country’s contribution to the military campaign in Libya suddenly collapsed into gibberish.
Mark McAllister of Global Toronto News told viewers that the Canadian defence minister had confirmed that ‘more than sifty four 18 fighter jets are spending about as much as 20 and ready to assist 600 hundred, hundred deployed over the an-amount needed’. His piece-to-camera went on to become even more odd before he signed off. His employers later confirmed there had been no problem with the autocue but McAllister had also suffered from a migraine.
In January, Sarah Carlson of WISC-TV in Wisconsin was also struck. She started out fine in her report on Wisconsin’s challenge to Barack Obama’s health care reforms, but it soon became apparent that she was having trouble forming words and the camera switched to a startled-looking co-presenter. Unlike the others, Carlson, 35, has a history of seizures, but America’s army of conspiracy theorists are unconvinced by the medical explanations.” source – Daily Mail UK
