No Blood For Oil! Congress Says “NO” To Obama’s Illegal War In Libya

Stopping Obama’s illegal Libyan war
WASHINGTON – The House has voted down a measure giving President Barack Obama the authority to continue the U.S. military action against Libya.

Challenging President Barack Obama's authority as commander in chief, the House pushed toward votes Friday on the U.S. military involvement in Libya, weighing competing measures to continue the operation or cut off funds for military attacks.
The vote was 295-123 on Friday. The congressional action has no immediate effect on American involvement but represents a repudiation of the commander in chief. The vote marks the first time since 1999 that either House has voted against a military operation. The last time was over President Bill Clinton’s authority in the Bosnian war.
“We have drifted into an apparently open-ended commitment with goals vaguely defined,” said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., the chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, as Democrats and Republicans criticized the mission and Obama’s treatment of Congress.
“What? We don’t have enough wars going on,” Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio., asked mockingly. “We need one more war. We have to wage war against another nation that didn’t attack us.”
House Republican leaders pushed for the vote, with rank-and-file members saying the president broke the law by failing to seek congressional approval for the 3-month-old war. Some Democrats accused the GOP of playing politics with national security. source – Yahoo News
Obama Orders Pentagon To Begin Planning For Libya Invasion With Massive Military Exercise On East Coast
Jun 21st
The coming summer of war
Obama is bound and determined to assist the Muslim Brotherhood in the reshaping of the entire Middle East. So much so that he has ordered the Pentagon to conduct the largest-ever US military training exercise on the east coast this summer. It is called Exercise Mailed Fist, and makes for convincing proof that he is planning to invade Libya with ground forces in just a few months.
“Washington (CNN) — It’s mid-June, a perfect time to visit the beach to watch porpoises play in the surf or seagulls strut the sand — or you could watch a formation of Marine Corps warplanes darting over the shore at hundreds of miles per hour. But don’t worry — the United States hasn’t declared war on your family’s beach house. It’s just part of a major Marine Corps exercise called Exercise Mailed Fist (translation: armored fist).
The exercise is designed to test the capability of every type of Marine Corps aircraft, including MV-22 Ospreys and F/A 18 Hornets, as well as some Navy ships and Air Force planes. The drill will stretch from Quantico Marine Base in northern Virginia to the Navy’s Pinecastle Bombing Range in Florida. With thousands of Marines and other service members involved, it’s the biggest such drill ever on the U.S. East Coast. “Exercise Mailed Fist is the first exercise of its specific kind and the largest 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing exercise conducted in recent history,” said Staff Sgt. Roman J. Yurek, Marine Corps spokesman.
“In the past, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing units had to deploy to the West Coast to conduct this type of training.” Mailed Fist was not originally supposed to be one big exercise. But the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s commander, Maj. Gen. Jon Davis, decided to combine several smaller drills into one big exercise. Not only do the Marines train closer to home, the Pentagon saves money. Most of the exercises will take place in the skies above or near Marine bases along the North and South Carolina coast. From Monday until Friday, vacationers “who are located near the bases … will see an increase in air and ground traffic at various times throughout the week, but there should be minimal impact on activity near beaches other than occasional fly-overs at relatively high altitudes,” the spokesman said.” source – CNN
NATO ‘one step’ from land war in Libya, says Russia
Jun 5th
From the heart the mouth speaks
Remember all the antiwar protests from Code Pink and others that railed against Bush’s ‘illegal wars’? You don’t hear a peep out of them now, so either they were really just anti-Bush or they have suddenly become fond of illegally declared wars. Obama promised when he started the attack against Libya that it would only be for a “few days”. Here we are months later and the ‘police action’ has been renewed to go at least until September and and now we have the promise that it will escalate into a ground war any day now. Is Obama capable of ever speaking the truth?
“SINGAPORE – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov says NATO is “one step” from sending troops into Libya in a bid to help rebels remove Moammar Gadhafi from power.
Ivanov said Sunday at an Asian security conference in Singapore that Russia didn’t know that a United Nations resolution it supported to protect civilians and shut down Libyan air space would lead to a land operation.
British and French attack helicopters struck for the first time inside Libya on Saturday. NATO had previously relied on attack jets generally flying above 15,000 feet (4,500 meters).
NATO airstrikes have kept the outgunned rebels from being overrun, but the rebels have been unable to mount an effective offensive against Gadhafi’s better-equipped forces.” source – Yahoo News
Gadhafi Beating Rebels And Making NATO Look Silly
Apr 9th
NATO strikes not stopping Gadhafi
It’s not making NATO and the US look good when their combined air strikes are failing to stop Gadhafi from advancing on the rebels. And it will make them look even worse if he is successful at retaining power in Libya.
AJDABIYA, Libya — Government soldiers and rebel gunmen battled in the streets of a key front-line city Saturday after the Libyan military used shelling and guerrilla-style tactics to open its most serious push into opposition territory since international airstrikes began. NATO airstrikes, meanwhile, hammered at Gadhafi’s ammunition stockpiles and armored forces, destroying 17 tanks. At least eight people were killed in the fighting over Ajdabiya, a hospital official said.
Recapturing the city would give the Libyan military a staging ground to attack the rebels’ main stronghold, Benghazi, about 100 miles farther east along the coastal highway. Moammar Gadhafi’s forces were approaching Benghazi when they were driven back by the international air campaign launched last month to protect civilians and ground Gadhafi’s aircraft.
For the rebels, losing the city would effectively bottle them into a coastal strip of eastern Libya and allow government forces to more tightly squeeze the few opposition pockets in the rest of the country, including the besieged western port of Misrata, where heavy clashes continued Saturday for a second day. NATO air strikes hit armored vehicles firing on civilians near both Misrata and Ajdabiya, said Canadian Lt. Gen. Charles Bouchard, who commands the Libya operation. source – MSNBC
Libya:Obama’s Malpractice
Apr 4th
Why is Americas’ military being turned into the Red Cross by this administration? Last time I checked, Obama vowed NOT to get this nation into ‘’another’’ war. Many of us see Obama as a leopard that has changed his spots. I don’t. Obama is still the same as he was during his developmental years in Indonesia as he is right now in the Oval Office. What he is doing in Libya is him simply putting action to his words and speeches over the years.
The past week I have been reading ‘’The Roots of Obama’s Rage” by former Reagan policy analyst Dinesh D’Souza. It is fascinating as it traces Obama’s roots that have ultimately formed his beliefs and ideology. It proves that Obama is merely carrying out the policies that his late African father was not able to do. It clearly exemplifies the ties that still bind Obama with his radical Kenyan father. D’Souza makes the point that is why Obama’s book is entitled “Dreams FROM my father” and not “Dreams OF my Father.” Quite a difference. Obama’s grandfather and father lived in Africa under British rule, which fired up the anti-colonial and anti-American sentiment in Obama’s father. America in essence to Obama Jr. (our President) is to the world what Britain was to Africa: a neocolonial nation. Meaning: a nation that invades and uses its wealth to stay and overtake the country. This is why upon Obama’s red carpet entrance into the White House he sent back the bust of British leader Winston Churchill. See the connection? I recommend every American read this book because the pieces to this incomprehensible puzzle will finally fit together. This is why when I see what Obama is doing in Libya it makes sense. I mean, not that I agree but from his worldview it makes sense. That is why Obama was adamant that this escapade in Libya isn’t an attack on Libya but rather a means to help the people of Libya.

Ten year-old Obama with his father Barack Obama Sr. This is the first and last time Obama would see his father
Americans shook our heads with awed-opened mouths at the audacity of Obama to bypass America’s Congress for the authority to go to war. Yes, it is a war. I don’t care if he wants to rename it a ‘’Kinetic Military Operation.” Just like the fact that a terrorist is a terrorist, not persons who are ‘’mischievous’’ as Obama said of the 9-11 hijackers. After this administration Webster’s going to publish a new dictionary for all the new politically correct phrases Obama has concocted over the past two years. He completely disregarded the Constitution. What’s new though right?
So he took off to Brazil and toured the sights of Rio. His favorite is probably the statute of Jesus overlooking the city because for Obama it’s like looking at a statue of himself. While there he authorized U.S. involvement in Libya after he received a “oui” from Sarkozy. Not one formal announcement here at home though. The American people were caught off guard as much as the recipients of the scud missiles. Obama made one little announcement from Rio stating that we joined NATO forces to help the ‘’rebels’’ which let’s be honest, aren’t truly pro-America, outstanding Libyan citizens. He further stated what we WON’T do in Libya; no boots on the ground, we won’t stay (a.k.a. no neo-colonialism here…) we won’t do this, we won’t do that but if you’re protesting in the streets, duck!
Obama continued to express how America will partake in this ‘’humanitarian’’ effort to ease the threat on the Libyan people. Okay, great but why are we not removing the biggest threat of all; Gaddafi? Not a chance. Not on Obama’s Rolex, because that would make America the bully he sees her as. Obama doesn’t care that Gaddafi is responsible for the deaths of over 200 innocents on Pan AM 103 or the fact that two U.S. servicemen were killed in a Berlin night club bombing ordered by the eye wandering, hallucinating murderer. That doesn’t matter to Obama. That’s not a good reason.
So what the heck are we doing in Libya if we aren’t taking out the source of the problem? For example, say someone has cancer and the doctor goes in to operate to remove the cancer. The doctor goes in and cleans all around the cancer but doesn’t remove the cancer itself. So the cancer remains, it spreads and gets increasingly worse. Malpractice at its worse. That is exactly what Obama has done in Libya. He is leaving the cancer in place while evading the real problem which is Gaddafi himself. Does he think Gaddafi is going to roll out of his shack palace in his mismatched green and gold garb sporting his Ray Bans and surrender? What if the American troops who discovered Saddam in his earthly hole offered to give him a bath, check him for bugs and sent him on his way? That’s basically what Obama has ordered in Libya. This is simply and dangerously not a means to take out Gaddafi but a statement brought to the world on behalf of Obama that no longer is America going to be that ego-centric, occupying nation. We are solely a humanitarian effort now. He is inadvertently carrying out his apologies by action, or lack thereof.
We can look at Libya and gain a lot of insight as to what happens when a nation elects someone whose ideology isn’t aligned with the majority of Americans. This jaunt in Libya is a clear example of what happens when America elects a President who prefers a permission slip from a corrupt body of nations (The United Nations) over the okay from his own nation. This is what happens when America elects a ‘’citizen of the world’’ as Obama called himself in Berlin in 2009 rather than a citizen of America. This is what happens when America elects a man who sees America as a neocolonial nation through the eyes of his late Kenyan father. We don’t have an American patriot in the Oval Office America, we have a man who is hell bent on righting the so-called wrongs of America’s past. America in Obama’s eyes is the last neocolonial nation and it’s his duty to rid the world of this threat. He wants to turn America into a comedy show and he’s got the power, as he sits in the director’s chair.
Disgrace! Obama Backs Off As Gadhafi Hold On
Apr 2nd
This is not the ‘greatest generation’ anymore as Obama blinks
As the entire world was watching, Obama gave the order for US bombing of Libya to stop Moammar Gadhafi’s killing of his own people. The rebels cheered and the world breathed a little easier now that the world’s greatest military was on the job. But the world’s greatest military does not have the world’s greatest Commander-in-chief. And the results are predictable, embarrassing and unacceptable by any patriot’s standards.
Gadhafi – 1, Obama – 0
WASHINGTON (AP) — Two weeks after a dark-of-night barrage of mostly U.S. missiles and bombs opened the international air assault on Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi, the American combat role is ending, the rag-tag rebels are reeling and the Pentagon is betting its European allies can finish the job.
Gadhafi is still standing, with a few uncertain signs that his inner circle could crack. The Obama administration is hoping that if Gadhafi’s government doesn’t implode soon, a relentless campaign of airstrikes on his tanks, air defenses and most trusted army units will at least weaken his ability to survive a renewed uprising by a disjointed opposition. The rebels initially rattled Gadhafi but in recent days have given up most of their gains.
The bottom line, according to Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: “He’s still killing his people.”
So the mission remains incomplete, but the U.S. is following through on a pledge to shift the main combat burden to Britain, France and other NATO allies. Starting Sunday, no U.S. combat aircraft are to fly strike missions in Libya. Also falling silent on Sunday will be the initial workhorses of the military campaign: U.S. Navy destroyers and submarines that launched Tomahawk cruise missiles from the positions in the Mediterranean Sea. The planes and naval vessels will be on standby in case NATO commanders decide their own forces cannot handle the mission on their own. Combat air missions will continue to be flown by Britain, France and other NATO member countries.” source – AP
Obama Sends The FBI Into Libya
Mar 31st
Hmmm, wasn’t this supposed to only last a “few days”?
They say that the first casualty of war is the truth. We are still waiting for Obama to speak anything remotely resembling the truth. He said this would be be an operation lasting “only a few days”, but here we are over a week later having spent almost 1 BILLION DOLLARS, and having committed the 22nd Marines, and the Air Force. Welcome to War #3…
“The Obama administration has sent teams of CIA operatives into Libya in a rush to gather intelligence on the identities and capabilities of rebel forces opposed to Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi, according to U.S. officials.
The information has become more crucial as the administration and its coalition partners move closer to providing direct military aid or guidance to the disorganized and beleaguered rebel army.
Although the administration has pledged that no U.S. ground troops will be deployed to Libya, officials said Wednesday that President Obama has issued a secret finding that would authorize the CIA to carry out a clandestine effort to provide arms and other support to Libyan opposition groups.
The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, insisted that no decision has been made.” source – Washington Post
