Group Pushes To ‘Let Bert And Ernie Get Married’ On Sesame Street

On the surface, what you are about to read, to me, is comical. A group that wants Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie to ‘come out of the closet’. But the reason why it’s really not so funny is that it shows the level to which we are proud to display the behavior that got Sodom and Gomorrah torched to the ground and killed everyone in it. Think about that.

An online campaign is calling for the producers of TV’s “Sesame Street” to allow characters Bert and Ernie to get married in an attempt to “put an end to the bullying and suicides of LGBT youth”, according to the group’s Facebook page.
The petition letter adds that “[w]e are not asking that Sesame Street do anything crude or disrespectful by allowing Bert & Ernie to marry”, suggesting that the show “even add a transgender character to the show…in a tasteful way”.
While over 900 people have “liked” the group’s Facebook page so far, the comments from visitors are fueling the controversy over whether children should be exposed to homosexuality at such an early age — echoing a similar battle over proposed gay-oriented curriculum in California schools. The group’s Facebook page also includes a photo mocking Christians for their opposition to homosexuality and same-sex marriage. source – CBS

“(CNSNews.com) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday that the State Department played an instrumental role in “sealing the deal” for pop-rock star Lady Gaga to perform at a gay pride rally in Rome, Italy.
Clinton specifically pointed to a letter that David Thorne, the U.S. ambassador to Italy, sent to Lady Gaga urging her to participate in the event.
“And then there is the work that our embassy team in Rome has been doing,” Clinton said. “Two weeks ago they played an instrumental role in bringing Lady Gaga to Italy for a Euro Pride concert.
“Now as many of you know Lady Gaga is Italian American and a strong supporter of LGBT rights,” said Clinton. “And the organizers of the Euro Pride event desperately wanted her to perform and a letter to her from Ambassador Thorne was instrumental in sealing the deal.” source – CNS News

New York dramatically voted tonight to allow same-sex marriage, becoming the biggest state so far to legalise gay marriage in a move that may kick-start a nationwide movement. Gay couples celebrated in the streets after the 62-member, Republican-controlled state Senate approved the bill 33 to 29.
Huge crowds gathered in New York's West Village as gay marriage became legal
The bill will take effect 30 days after Governor Andrew Cuomo signs it into law. The legislative session went into overtime as conservative lawmakers fought for changes to enhance protection for faith-based groups opposed to recognizing gay marriages.
The decision followed weeks of contentious debate and negotiations between Governor Cuomo and the GOP-controlled Senate.
After the bill passed in the Assembly, it was unclear if the bill had secured enough support to pass in the Senate.

Navy Halts Move To Allow Gay Unions By Chaplains

NTEB was one of the first to bring you the story of the Navy allowing same-sex marriages on naval bases in states where gay union was allowed. Well, it seems that now that the story has gotten some notice, that a lot of people really don’t think it’s a good idea. I guess that’s one of the main reason we run stories like this.
“WASHINGTON — Under pressure from more than five dozen House lawmakers, the Navy late Tuesday abruptly reversed its decision that would have allowed chaplains to perform same-sex unions if the Pentagon decides to recognize openly gay military service later this year.
In a one-sentence memo obtained by The Associated Press, Rear Adm. Mark Tidd, chief of Navy chaplains, said his earlier decision has been “suspended until further notice pending additional legal and policy review and interdepartmental coordination.”
The Navy said its lawyers wanted to do a more thorough review of the legal decision that allowed Navy chaplains to receive training to perform civil unions on military bases, but only in states where it is legal
Military training to apply the new law allowing gays to serve openly began earlier this year and is expected to be completed by midsummer.
House members wrote to Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to object to the Navy’s initial ruling, saying the service was violating the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act by appearing to recognize and support same-sex marriages.
That law defines marriage as only between a man and a woman, and it also says states don’t have to recognize gay marriages performed in other states where they are legal.
“We find it unconscionable that the United States Navy, a federal entity sworn to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States, believes it is their place alone to train and direct service members to violate federal law,” said the lawmakers’ letter, which was signed by 63 House members.” source – MSNBC

The Obama campaign finance director, Rufus Gifford, was a top California gay fundraiser; the DNC finance chairman, Andrew Tobias, is gay; and the White House social secretary — traditionally a key, if unofficial, fundraising job — is also a gay man, Gifford’s partner Jeremy Bernard.
The spur for the gay community becoming an anchor for Obama’s reelection fundraising is a series of policy shifts in 2010. After a year of rocky relations and suspicion from Obama’s gay supporters that he wasn’t really committed to their issues, the last year saw a surge in activity.
Along with the high-profile repeal of the military ban, Obama’s Justice Department recently refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act. And the administration has taken smaller steps, like gay partner hospital visits and hate crimes legislation, concrete and important gestures that simply weren’t made during the Bush administration.
“It’s ironic — a year ago there was no constituency more unhappy. There was a sea change,” said David Mixner, a veteran New York gay activist, who said that White House actions during the past year had swayed restive gay donors. “You not only will see a united community that will contribute to Obama, but they will work their asses off.” source – Politico

On December 18, 2010, the US Senate voted to repeal the military laws regarding homosexuality. Starting late last Summer, as it appeared the laws were going to be revoked, both military and civilian leaders started to make startling comments about what was going to happen when it was repealed. These comments made it clear that the Hard Left was going to use homosexuality to purge the Christians out of the military.
The military will be purged of anyone, from private to general, who will not go along with the Hard Left agenda. The military that remains will be morally beaten down and with soldiers that are godless; thus leaving the military without a soul. These will be the type of soldiers who will do whatever they are told. These are the type of soldiers who could be used against the American people. Please do not think that the Hard Left would not use the American military against the people. The Left hates Christians with a passion that is only matched for Nazis towards the Jews. They hate and despise Christians for standing against abortion and homosexuality. They hate anyone who is in any way associated with the Holy God of Israel. You can see this hatred on college campuses, the political left and in the media. “SAN DIEGO — If a Marine spots two men in his battalion kissing off-duty at a shopping mall, he should react as if he were seeing a man and woman. If he turns on the television news to see a fellow Marine dressed as a civilian and marching in a parade with a banner that reads, “Support Gays and Lesbians in the Military!” he should accept it as a free right of expression.
Prescriptions for those possible scenarios are being played out at Marine bases as the military prepares to allow gays to openly serve, ending a 17-year-old policy commonly known as “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Training for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines began early this year and is expected to finish by summer’s end. The repeal goes into effect 60 days after the president, defense secretary and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff certify that lifting the ban won’t hurt the military’s ability to fight.
“These changes are about policy,” states briefing material for Marine instructors. “The policy is about adherence to orders and behavior, and not about beliefs.” The latest round of training material asks Marines to consider their reactions to a wide range of scenarios, from seeing a member “hanging around” a gay bar to hearing locker-room jokes from others who refuse to shower in front of gays. Members of the 1st Marine Logistics Group report to class Thursday at Camp Pendleton. There is nothing wrong with “hanging around” a gay bar, the materials state. The officer who witnesses the loud locker-room banter aimed at gays and lesbians should remind the Marines any discrimination or harassment is inappropriate. soucre – MSNBC
