Welcome to the church of Laodicea
MILWAUKEE (AP) — A man who left his Presbyterian ministry in California more than 20 years ago after telling his congregation that he is gay was welcomed back into the church leadership as its first openly gay ordained minister.
In a quavering voice ripe with emotion, 56-year-old Scott Anderson on Saturday told the hundreds of friends and backers who packed Covenant Presbyterian Church in Madison, Wisconsin for his ordination ceremony that he never thought the day would come.
“To the thousands of Presbyterians who have worked and prayed for almost 40 years for this day, I give thanks,” Anderson said. “And I give thanks for those who disagree with what we’re doing today yet who know that we are one in Jesus Christ.”
When he was presented to the crowd, audience members gave him a thunderous standing ovation and began roaring with cheers.
“That was very atypical of Presbyterians,” Doug Poland, an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church, told the Wisconsin State Journal. “Usually our hands are in our laps.”
Anderson was closeted when he served as a minister in Sacramento, Calif., from 1983 until 1990. When a couple threatened to reveal his sexual orientation, he came out to his congregation and resigned because the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) barred homosexuals from serving as ministers.
But things changed last year when the church’s national assembly voted to remove the ban, clearing the way for Anderson’s ordination.
Nancy Enderle, the interim executive director of the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, told The Associated Press the ordination was a glorious celebration that touched everyone, especially Anderson.
“He’s a very dignified and poised person but you could tell he was deeply moved,” she said.
Anderson currently serves as the executive director of the Wisconsin Council of Churches in Sun Prairie, which is near Madison, where he lives. His ordination means he’ll be ordained to the specific job he already has. The only change is that he’ll now be able to administer sacraments such as communion. He could also become a parish minister, a role he said he might consider in three or four years.
Anderson chose the Rev. Mark Achtemeier of Dubuque, Iowa, to deliver the sermon Saturday. Achtemeier used to be one of the most vocal opponents of gay ordination, but he announced a complete turnaround after friendships with gay Christians prompted him to re-evaluate scriptural teachings about homosexuality.
He told attendees Saturday he hopes Anderson’s ministry will bring “healing good news” to all those who have felt “ostracized and alienated” from the church, the State Journal reported.
Supporter Bob Lorenz told WISC-TV the ordination was long overdue for someone of Anderson’s talents.
“Ordaining him is just recognition of the gifts God already gave him,” he said. source – Yahoo News
The queering of the military

With the official repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” less than a month away, members of the military can expect to see a new gay-themed magazine available at military exchange stores on Sept. 20, the same day the repeal goes into effect.
The gay-advocacy group OutServe launched the magazine last Spring and has already produced two editions. The group says its September edition will be available for free at select Army and Air Force bases.
According to the group’s website OutServe Magazineis a publication that “highlights the contributions that actively serving LGBTs are making to the United States military, discusses and educates readers about DADT repeal policies, and advocates for the continued fight for equality for all Americans.”
The new September edition will feature a photo spread of nearly 100 people who are both active duty service members and members of OutServe. It will presumably be the first time these individuals have made their sexuality known among the military ranks.
OutServe’s online magazine features a self help section called “Ask Sarge,” where readers are encouraged to discuss their problems with a mental health and substance abuse expert who has experience working at a Combat Stress Clinic in Afghanistan.
“Our first objective with the magazine is to let all the gay, lesbian, bi, and trans members currently serving know that they are not alone,” OutServe’s co-director, an active-duty officer who goes by the pseudonym JD Smith said in a written release. “And we also want to communicate to all troops that there are capable gay military members serving honorably, and that accepting that and moving on will make our military stronger.”

And then judgment fell
On the surface, what you are about to read, to me, is comical. A group that wants Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie to ‘come out of the closet’. But the reason why it’s really not so funny is that it shows the level to which we are proud to display the behavior that got Sodom and Gomorrah torched to the ground and killed everyone in it. Think about that.
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Will the Children’s Television Workshop give way to same-sex puppet love?
An online campaign is calling for the producers of TV’s “Sesame Street” to allow characters Bert and Ernie to get married in an attempt to “put an end to the bullying and suicides of LGBT youth”, according to the group’s Facebook page.
The petition letter adds that “[w]e are not asking that Sesame Street do anything crude or disrespectful by allowing Bert & Ernie to marry”, suggesting that the show “even add a transgender character to the show…in a tasteful way”.
While over 900 people have “liked” the group’s Facebook page so far, the comments from visitors are fueling the controversy over whether children should be exposed to homosexuality at such an early age — echoing a similar battle over proposed gay-oriented curriculum in California schools. The group’s Facebook page also includes a photo mocking Christians for their opposition to homosexuality and same-sex marriage. source – CBS
US State Department now worldwide exporter of immorality
The people in the Obama administration don’t seem to be very concerned with 10%+ unemployment, $4 a gallon gas, Islamic terrorism, or the fact that Iran is about 8 weeks away from launching their first nuclear test missile firing. But what they are concerned with, is making sure that the radical, Gay Agenda is pushed in every corner of the globe. Since both Hillary and Obama fancy themselves to be Christians, perhaps they should crack open the Book to right….about……here…
- “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.” Leviticus 18:22
- “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.” Leviticus 20:13
- “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1
“(CNSNews.com) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday that the State Department played an instrumental role in “sealing the deal” for pop-rock star Lady Gaga to perform at a gay pride rally in Rome, Italy.
Clinton specifically pointed to a letter that David Thorne, the U.S. ambassador to Italy, sent to Lady Gaga urging her to participate in the event.
“And then there is the work that our embassy team in Rome has been doing,” Clinton said. “Two weeks ago they played an instrumental role in bringing Lady Gaga to Italy for a Euro Pride concert.
“Now as many of you know Lady Gaga is Italian American and a strong supporter of LGBT rights,” said Clinton. “And the organizers of the Euro Pride event desperately wanted her to perform and a letter to her from Ambassador Thorne was instrumental in sealing the deal.” source – CNS News
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves…And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1
New York dramatically voted tonight to allow same-sex marriage, becoming the biggest state so far to legalise gay marriage in a move that may kick-start a nationwide movement. Gay couples celebrated in the streets after the 62-member, Republican-controlled state Senate approved the bill 33 to 29.
The bill will take effect 30 days after Governor Andrew Cuomo signs it into law. The legislative session went into overtime as conservative lawmakers fought for changes to enhance protection for faith-based groups opposed to recognizing gay marriages.
The decision followed weeks of contentious debate and negotiations between Governor Cuomo and the GOP-controlled Senate.
After the bill passed in the Assembly, it was unclear if the bill had secured enough support to pass in the Senate.
After a several undecideds moved to support the bill – including Republican Roy McDonald who famously defended his decision, saying ‘f**k it, I don’t care what you think. I’m trying to do the right thing’ the balance was tipped. source – Daily Mail UK
In the Navy
NTEB was one of the first to bring you the story of the Navy allowing same-sex marriages on naval bases in states where gay union was allowed. Well, it seems that now that the story has gotten some notice, that a lot of people really don’t think it’s a good idea. I guess that’s one of the main reason we run stories like this.
“WASHINGTON — Under pressure from more than five dozen House lawmakers, the Navy late Tuesday abruptly reversed its decision that would have allowed chaplains to perform same-sex unions if the Pentagon decides to recognize openly gay military service later this year.
In a one-sentence memo obtained by The Associated Press, Rear Adm. Mark Tidd, chief of Navy chaplains, said his earlier decision has been “suspended until further notice pending additional legal and policy review and interdepartmental coordination.”
The Navy said its lawyers wanted to do a more thorough review of the legal decision that allowed Navy chaplains to receive training to perform civil unions on military bases, but only in states where it is legal
Military training to apply the new law allowing gays to serve openly began earlier this year and is expected to be completed by midsummer.
House members wrote to Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to object to the Navy’s initial ruling, saying the service was violating the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act by appearing to recognize and support same-sex marriages.
That law defines marriage as only between a man and a woman, and it also says states don’t have to recognize gay marriages performed in other states where they are legal.
“We find it unconscionable that the United States Navy, a federal entity sworn to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States, believes it is their place alone to train and direct service members to violate federal law,” said the lawmakers’ letter, which was signed by 63 House members.” source – MSNBC

You can almost hear Liza Minelli singing the theme song
It started with getting rid of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, then Obama decided to no longer defend DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act. Bit by bit, Obama is making sure that the gay agenda is on the front burner of his domestic policy. You just might say that he is the gayest president in US history.
“President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign is banking on gay donors to make up the cash it’s losing from other groups of wealthy supporters who have been alienated and disappointed by elements of Obama’s first term.
Pleased by an all-out White House push to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell,” gay donors have surprised campaign officials with the extent of their support. And the campaign’s new fundraising apparatus appears designed to capitalize on their enthusiasm: Obama’s finance committee included one gay man in 2008; there are 15 this year, a source said.
The Obama campaign finance director, Rufus Gifford, was a top California gay fundraiser; the DNC finance chairman, Andrew Tobias, is gay; and the White House social secretary — traditionally a key, if unofficial, fundraising job — is also a gay man, Gifford’s partner Jeremy Bernard.
The spur for the gay community becoming an anchor for Obama’s reelection fundraising is a series of policy shifts in 2010. After a year of rocky relations and suspicion from Obama’s gay supporters that he wasn’t really committed to their issues, the last year saw a surge in activity.
Along with the high-profile repeal of the military ban, Obama’s Justice Department recently refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act. And the administration has taken smaller steps, like gay partner hospital visits and hate crimes legislation, concrete and important gestures that simply weren’t made during the Bush administration.
“It’s ironic — a year ago there was no constituency more unhappy. There was a sea change,” said David Mixner, a veteran New York gay activist, who said that White House actions during the past year had swayed restive gay donors. “You not only will see a united community that will contribute to Obama, but they will work their asses off.” source – Politico
