Egyptian Muslims Surround Christian Church, Threaten To Kill Priest
Rise of thug rule in Egypt
Minya, 24 June (AKI) – Hundreds of Muslim extremists surrounded a church in central Egypt and threatened to kill the local priest, the Assyrian International News Agency reported. The extremists began targeting the church in a village 7 kilometres south of the city of Minya in March after renovation work began, threatening to demolish the church.
AINA Friday cited eyewitnesses as saying that the Muslim mob, dressed in white robes and long beards, chanted: “We will kill the priest, we will kill him and no one will prevent us.” One of their leaders was cited as saying they would “…cut him to pieces,” AINA reported. The priest Father George Thabet, who was holding morning mass and was locked in the church with several parishioners. Security forces arrived five hours later and escorted the priest away in a police car to the Coptic Diocese in Minya.
Coptic youths who were attending mass remained inside St George’s church to defend it from Muslim attacks. No police or security of any kind was present during the standoff, according to reports. The archdiocese of Minya issued a statement deploring the incident and the “return of the Salafists to besiege St. George’s church again, some carrying weapons, threatening to kill the priest unless he leaves the village.”
The statement called on government officials and security authorities uphold rule of law and maintaining security in the country. On 23 March, hardline Muslims had surrounded the 100-year old church, which was granted a renovation licence, and ordered the church officials to stop construction immediately and undo what they had completed, threatening to demolish the church if their demands were not met.
The extremists also ordered church authorities removed Thabet from Beni Ahmad village and gave him and his family a time limit of 35 days, later extended to 50 days, to leave. The Muslims accused him of making extensions to the church and of causing sectarian strife. The Coptic Christians account for about 10 percent of Egypt’s population and have been repeatedly targeted by Muslim extremists. source – ADN Kronos

What?!? NTEB supports Catholicism? Catholicism is NOT Christianity.

@Mishael
What in the WORLD are you saying? Catholicism was one of the first founded churches teaching God’s word. Many of the Presbyterian churches broke off of the Catholicism branch. Almost EVERY single denomination broke away from the Catholicism branch at one point or another, so by you saying that Catholicism is NOT Christianity, are you in deed saying that your denomination is “so much better”, and that it’s the “right one”. Jesus even told his disciple in the Bible that those who are not against us are with us. Saying that one branch is better, or right, or if you don’t believe in “our” teaching you’re going to Hell is a lie from the devil himself. Trying to split up people based on denomination is STUPID! We should all be UNITING in these times of crisis that the world is in and bring all of the Christian people together, and not point at each other saying “you’re not the right way, you’re a lie, and etc.” bringing more tension, hate, and strife within GOD’S church. “Your way” is not even the right way, we’re all HUMAN, so we ALL fall short of the glory of God. No way is absolute except for the way of Christ. Stop pointing fingers and take a look at yourself before you start trying to accuse others. Jesus said this as well, pluck out thy beam in thine own eye before you try to pluck out the one in your brother’s eye thou hypocrite. I say this out of love to YOU. Change and unite in God’s love, and don’t let your own false sense of judgement hurt others. NTEB should be supporting ALL of God’s people, and not just “one or the other” and play favoritism. Sooner or later along the way when denominations broke off a preacher, priest, etc. thought that “their way” and “their ideas” were the best, so they started their own denomination of church. Listen to God, His word, and His Son Jesus Christ, and you won’t go wrong. UNITE and do NOT destroy. We don’t need to be fighting over nonsense like this.

Everything that starts out good does not necessarily turn out good. Catholicism started out good, but as it spread out in effort to “convert” people for the sake of political agenda as it was adopted by the “Holy” Roman Empire, it accepted pagan practices into it, and became similar to what we see happening with the Chrislam movement today. The Catholics view the “pope” as the infallible vicar of the Son of God… in other words, they worship the pope as a sort of sub-deity. Then they prey to the saints and to Mary, holding them as idols. Catholicism is no less a merger of Christianity and paganism than Chrislam is a merger of Christianity and Islam.

*meant pray, but prey could be a fitting word, too, as a play on words

Catholicism is some of the men that crept in and perverted the gospel of Christ, it did NOT start out good. It was a damnable heresy from the start. Catholicism pronounces a curse on true believer of Sola Fide.

You can’t say say that a system that say’s you can believe what you want is of God. It does not matter what the title. Jesus said that I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father but through me. Not through Mary not through the pope or the roman system. Not through Mohamed. Not by works not by any other thing but Through Jesus the Lamb who was slain for the sins of the world on the tree at Calvary. Laid in the tomb rose from the dead and walked amongst men and ascended into heaven and is returning in the same manner. That’s what the Word of God say’s. Take it up with Him.
