Judgment? Bizarre, Extreme Weather Pounds South and Midwest States

| April 25, 2011

Is it just crazy weather, or is it something more?

Are we seeing freakish weather patterns coincidentally, or is it something more? Is God beginning to judge America for her sins? I honestly don’t know, but I do know this. America is no longer a nation that fears God, or even acknowledges Him in any meaningful sense. Think about it. We have taxpayer-funded child murder that extinguishes over 250,000 souls a year. We have gay rights, gay marriage, and an out of control porn industry. We have gambling appearing in state after state, and scores of other vice and vices on proud display. Our economy is shattered, we owe more money than we make, and unemployment is steady at 15-19%. We do not allow the Bible in the public schools, and neither can children start the day with prayer. We as a nation have told God to “get out” of our lives. Has He withdrawn His blessing from America?

Dallas (CNN) — Hot, dry weather returns to Texas this week, whisking away the limited relief scattered thunderstorms brought to firefighters in parts of the Lone Star state over the weekend. In a trifecta of potentially bad news for fire crews, the Texas Forest Service said a low-pressure system will push temperatures into the 90s, humidity to 10% or less and winds up to 45 mph on Monday and Tuesday. The conditions have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for a large portion of west Texas, urging residents to avoid the use of open flames and to avoid activities that may generate sparks. Because of the hot temperatures, bone-dry conditions and high winds, “accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow quickly. source – CNN

Poplar Bluff, Mo – Police ordered the evacuation of some 1,000 residents amid concerns the town levee could breach at any time. On Monday, water from the rain-swollen Black River was already pouring over the top of the levee, threatening about 500 homes in the town of 17,000 people about 150 miles southwest of St. Louis.

“Once it tops it and flows over it, all indications are that it could breach imminently,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Rolland. The same levee breached in 2008, flooding the same neighborhood, he said.

The river has been rising for the past week amid day after day of heavy rains. Three to five inches of rain were expected Monday evening, with three inches forecast for Tuesday. “We need a break from Mother Nature,” Mr. Rolland said. Many residents were packed into the town convention center, while others moved in with friends or family. Police went door to door during the day Monday to order the evacuation, but some people stayed behind. “There are always stragglers,” Mr. Rolland said. source – WSJ

April 2011 has been a horrific month for severe weather so far with more than 550 reports of tornadoes, at least 39 tornado-related deaths and unthinkable destruction. As the wild weather pattern continues this week, the month’s total number of tornadoes will continue to rise. There is a good chance that April 2011 will end up being the most active April on record for tornadoes. With May and June typically being the most active months of the year for severe weather, people are wondering if the trend will continue and make 2011 a record-setting year. source – AccuWeather

FORT WORTH, Texas — The extreme drought that has gripped parts of nine states — most of them in the South — is expected to drag on for several months or intensify, posing a risk for more wildfires, agriculture problems and water restrictions, national weather experts said Monday. Portions of Texas and a small part of eastern Louisiana are the only parts of the nation that rank in the National Weather Service’s worst drought condition category, said Victor Murphy, the climate service program manager for the southern region, based in Fort Worth. The “exceptional” drought level happens once every 50 to 100 years, he said.

Much of the rest of Texas and Louisiana are in extreme drought conditions — the worst in 20 to 50 years — as are parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Florida and tiny portions of Colorado and Kansas. Other areas of those states are experiencing severe and moderate drought conditions, along with parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. source – Chron

  1. Mark says:

Judgment? Uh … no. Bad weather & wildfires happen every year, and every year some ninny stands on a box and hollers that Jesus is coming or the sky is falling or some such nonsense. It’s just Mother Nature’s way of cleaning house. She’s funny that way.

  2. Meg says:

Creation moans under the weight of sin too! It is not unexpected that our weather would be just as flawed as we are. So is it judgement or just the result of a sin stricken world that is separated from God? I’m going with the latter.

I believe God does judge, but since we now have a Savior, he’s in the business of redemption. He judges all one day, the quick and the dead. Why would he do it now, just to have people die and turn right around and condemn them again? This does not seem in line with his character.

    • Michael says:

Amen! I agree. I also agree with mankind’s obsession with natural resources and not being good stewards of God’s planet we see consequences of our action.

  3. Kyle says:

It is not that he judges and destroys, for Satan is the destroyer, but that people fall out of his merciful protection through sin, and He has no choice but to let Satan do as he will just as He did with Job because of the fear Job held in his heart.

  4. Marian says:

It is so sad that people won’t put their trust in Jesus, and just like the comment that #1 Mark that wrote it’s just “Mother Nature”, well Mark, Mother Nature is created by God, and I will send up a prayer for you that you would come to know Jesus before He returns to get His children. He died on the cross for your sins and mine, and on the third day He arose. The toomb is empty and His arms are wide open just waiting on you to call on Him, repent of your sins, and ask Jesus into your heart and save you. Is that too much to ask? May He have mercy on your soul!

  5. Judy says:

Sad to see some people like Mark make a statement, as he did…..I am burdened for the lost souls like him….because that is what he is”lost” and bound for eternal separation from God! I pray for people with that type of ignorance ,who deny the Bible. It is the Word of God. The Bible tells you of what is coming. I pray you repent and turn to Him. There is NO other WAY!! I agree with Marian, may He have mercy on your soul!!

    • Steven Cook says:

There are LOTS of other ways. There is always another way. No one is ever truly lost when your soul is your own.

      • Kyle says:

Steven… we are ALL sinners. There is no forgiveness of sins without blood; therefore, God gave His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins to be forgiven. He would not have sent His Son to die if there were any other ways. He only did it out of necessity because of His love for us, and so there is NOT ANY other way.

      • wendy says:

no Steven narrow is the way..there is no other way but to accept Christ as your Savior…to admit you are a sinner in need of Salvation….no other way…no other way! Thank GOD I have been redeemed but I now share the others burden for those who are lost. Not everyone found Jesus at 5 years old. I pray, that the mother nature worshiping individuals, and all others who worship anything other than Christ find their way before it’s too late. God is giving us a preview, this is a test, this is only a test of what is to come.

      • Jerry says:

You don’t own your soul or your life and you’ll give them to their proper owner on Judgement day….

  6. Dave says:

Well Mark,..mother nature answers to Father the Creator!…and so do WE! He’s not funny that way, because sin has consequences…and so does ignorance and denying Him!

  7. Poindexter says:

Odd that She would take it out on the Bible Belt.
It’s been pretty mild here in New York and the 10-day outlook for San Fran is downright splendid….

    • wendy says:

actually I don’t find that odd at all….Christians bare the responsibility of leading others to Christ and churches bare the responsibility of leading the charge for Christ but unfortunately, we are in the church of Laodicea and those lukewarm churches will now have to pay the price for their lack of dedication and service.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

      • Poindexter says:

If you think the Baptist / Pentecostal / Charismatic congregations in the Bible Belt are lukewarm, you’ve obviously never hung with West Coast Unitarians, Southern Connecticut Episcopalians or upper Midwest Lutherans! (Ye shall know the latter by the temperature of their casaroles.)

  8. Shawn says:

All I know from the bible is that in the last days the Earth shall experience an increase in what it calls birth pangs…And over the past few years the Earth has experienced an increase in floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes. Hmmm…makes me wonder if these aren’t the signs that were told about which would put us in End Times.

  9. Jude 17-25 But beloved remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
How that they told you there shoud be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the spirit.
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for mercy of our Lord Jesus Chris unto eternal life.
And of some have compassion, making a difference:
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God, our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

  10. Angie says:

To all who have commented on this article. Attraction is much more effective than promotion. The best way to alienate those that you are trying to convince is to separate yourself from them with Jargon that is alien to those outside your religion. You just come across as arogant and patronizing. In your zeal to save souls you end up widening the gap. Your example speaks louder and better than your words.

  11. terry hyche says:

all that is said is accounted for, every word is weighed!i am not classified by any human being;when all is said and done each person will give account of themself to the one who created them.remember this, the bible confirms itself, it needs no one to open it to exist.the bible is living and moving without the permission of any person, the word seeks only to help those who would desire its help,if you don,t want that help you can choose to leave the truth alone and go on your way,no one is trying to force this wonderfully inspired medicine on anyone;so go on your merry way with your lamp empty and your soul left in a thirsty state panting for a refreshing drink of clear thought.

  12. Hey you forgot about not caring for the poor. The Southern states are notoriously for not wanting to help the poor. They think that they have freedom of choice when it comes to being taxed to help the poor, but then they pick and choose freedom of choice when it comes to a woman’s right to her own body, and they neglect the fact that gay people were born that way like people are born being left handed
