Honestly, I agree. I don’t think we can presume to understand why these things are happening. I don’t feel like we can put a reason behind it. We don’t think the way God does and I don’t believe we can pinpoint why certain events are taking place, or even to call it judgement. You know the bible says in Genesis that the earth was cursed because of what Adam did. The earth may be reacting to this curse and groaning because of the weight of sin. The bible also says things must happen before Christ’s return. So this can just be a fulfillment in prophecy that must take place to usher in the final events of His coming. We don’t know exactly. But basically, I agree with what you said. Well put.

Thanks for the reply Tina, and of course we always pray for the Lord’s mercy and protection, and I am not knocking prayer in the slightest. What I struggle with is the position of this blog in directly saying that because of this or that relating to Americas or any countries dealings with Israel or un-christian value like legislation going down relating to eg, homosexuality or abortion….etc………..things happen on earth, like disasters that are directly related and from the hand of God and some form of judgement. I am not convinced that this is how God works, nor that we so know the mind of the God who created the universe and who says of Himself in Rom 11.33
O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgements and how inscrutable his ways! and in the old testament as the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
So I really struggle with this blog and speaking on Gods behalf and while I respect and love the man and the heart for God, righteousness and Israel, it seems to me that what God is doing and thinking is set out in black and white, the creator of the universe understood and mind read by a mortal and a creation?
YES I know that God reveals Himself to us thru nature, our conscience, thru the person of Christ and by His word, but he is also a mystery.
Yes we can prove this and ponder those mysteries and look at verses to substantiate this and that with regards to these last days, but this you speak of God withdrawing His protection off parts of America, and its His allowing it to happen but not directly involved. Hmmmmmmmm…..
I know the story of Job well, and it was Satan who wrecked havoc and God let him do that……
I am not against pain and suffering and believe God always works in love and yes anger at times even if I don’t understand it……..I don’t pretend to, and I can live with the mysteries and the questions because I have enough of the evidence and a relationship with God that leaves me trusting Him with the ugly stuff and things I dont understand and the trials I have yet to suffer. And I know I shall.
I know God never promised a lifetime of happiness or prosperity, despite the theology and doctrines of many preachers revered and admired in America.
My problem is with the certainty that people seem to think God is acting for this or that reason…………..did God wreck judgement on the American nation for how it treated the American Indians, for the atomic bombs at Nagasaki and Hiroshima? And all nations can name things they have meddled in and manipulated around the world that may have not have ‘ Christlike motives or agendas’ or fitted the prophetic plan set down by God. The is the same as is being put forth here continually about Gods anger and judgement over issues. What happened in those times above……….what was Gods response then to injustice and violence. I am told God does not change?
But you would argue this is a different case dealing with Israel and homosexuality etc.
I read Johns words as saying God is directly involved, even if it is by removing His hand……that’s still Him letting it happen and then yes…………it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God……..mercy. Have mercy on us Son of David, by your stripes I am healed…..with a certain amount of courage I will send this. I don’t find many alternate views or those who question the presuppositions put forth here………I have asked good and genuine questions before in other avenues and either got no response or vitriolic ones. Modern church does’t thrive on debate like the Jews do in the synagogue, and did in Jesus time. So I do not anticipate understanding or warmth here despite my master saying we will be known by our love and the world will know that I am alive by how you love one another. Unity is not uniformity. A body is held together with tension and I believe I do have my eyes open as well.

We are praying for the Lord’s mercy. It may not be God’s direct hand causing it, but Him allowing it to happen as He withdraws His protection off of certain parts of America. We really don’t know exactly why these things are happening. But His word says that He is an ever present help in the time of trouble. He never promised us a lifetime of happiness but He did say that He’ll never leave us or forsake us. Praying will draw us back to the only one that can save us. Praying in my book is never a question, it’s always the answer.

Thanks for posting this Geoffrey, I need to call my son who lives in Arkansas and make sure he knows it’s coming his way. Praying for the folks in Joplin,Mo. and for those in the path of this weather.
